04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

I'm sensing a pattern here. A slight obsession with 6062. But that is okay. When you find a room you like, stick with it! :rotfl:

Randall
:rainbow:

Actually....I have no idea what 6062 is, I don't think. We've never had a "favorite room"....I just told our TA we wanted to be mid ship with a balcony on 6 or higher. I think she made the decision to book the same room for all just to be easy....and it won't be the SAME room exactly since they're on different ships! :thumbsup2

Is anyone doing Vancouver after the Repo cruise? We are for 2 days then home.

I'm looking at the Grouse Mountain zip line. Has anyone done this? We are first time zip liners....

Right now plans are:
one day at Grouse Mountain: zip line, eye of the wind
one day at Capilano Bridge: walk the suspension bridge :scared1:

Any thoughts?

We are staying in Vancouver, but not until after the Alaska cruise. I figured the first day we would ride the hop on hop off bus all around it's route, just to get an overview, then go back to what we want to explore more. We are ziplining in Ketchikan, but we do want to see the Capilano Bridge too. I guess Vancouver is going to be kind of play it by ear.;)

DW almost has the FE stuff all made. Only 25 more to go then we can pack. 16 days till we leave for LA

Printed my door magnets today and am now working on my formal dress (donated by a good friend from her bridesmaid stash and is currently being mercilessly hacked and altered by yours truly). I even broke down and bought new heels (I have a passion for handbags, not so much for shoes), I was going to wear my black heels from work but the dress is navy..... so what is a girl to do?

Just a reminder that if anyone needs tips or suggesions for Victoria, ask away!

Less than two weeks until we set off for Disneyland. My boss seems to think I won't get anything done between now and then - what does he know - I work twice as hard to get everything done before I go.

I had a hard time with Victoria, too. My DD(5) and I ended up booking the horse-drawn trolley through DCL, and I booked the Empress Tea on my own. I'm kind of bummed to miss the gardens, but...well, we have been to tons of beautiful gardens. :confused3 We'll see how it goes. I kind of wanted to do the whales, but we're doing whale watching in Juneau and that was going to be a lot of whales, lol.

When in Victoria last October, my DD4 and DS5 loved Miniature World. It a small walk through attraction located alongside the Empress Hotel. There are miniature recreations of fairy tales, historical scenes, famous battles (which DS was mezmorized by), a sci-fi area, a circus scene. It probably took us 1.5 hours to get through. There is also a bug zoo a few blocks away (walkable) that DW and DD went to and quite enjoyed.

These are small attractions and neither is a whole day event, but if you've got small kids they may be a good alternative to larger organized tours of gardens, museums, etc. DS is still asking to go back to Miniature World 6 months later.

... thought this might be an ideal time to post a pic of Canada Place ... our port in Vancouver ...

WOW! Impressive!

I day after my birthday, disney cruise called and said they gave us an upgrade!
Were now in 5146..we got a verandah now!!:woohoo::cool1::woohoo:

I'm still working on all my litttle projects and things..i've never done a disney cruise yet and i wanted to do the Fish Extender gift thing, wasn't sure i'd finish my Fish Extender. So I didn't sign up for the FE, sorry. And i'm almost done with it now..figures.

:sad1: i don't have time to make any goodies but if anybody wants to cruise :rotfl: on by and see my decorations of my door, that would be awesome.

If its finished put it up! I always bring extras so will add your cabin to my list :)

Car rental: We rented from Hertz. They have a rental location at Canada Place that we could book from by calling the Hertz 800 number (you can't book that location online). We are returning the car at the airport later that evening. We thought the bridge sounded fun too, but not sure either of us feel comfortable carrying the girls across it...

Thanks! I'm going to call them and Enterprise, too and see what our options are. I don't want to rent the car and then pay a high cab fare to the train, too, but we'll see. Jim doesn't like buses and shuttles, so I'm trying to find the least amount of "fussing around" with our luggage, etc. for the last day.

Happy Birthday and congrats on the upgrade!:cheer2: Do put up your FE! We will enjoy seeing it, and who knows how many FE fairies might be out there?

DW almost has the FE stuff all made. Only 25 more to go then we can pack. 16 days till we leave for LA

Almost for us, too! :woohoo: 14 days from tonight we will be in Anaheim Hills!

I had a terrible nightmare about boarding the cruise this morning! I was very happy to wake up! It's in my PTR, so I won't repeat it here - I guess the "I'm so busy I might forget something" jitters are setting in, or the book I'm reading at bedtime has something to do with it :rolleyes1

Pulled out the suit cases to pack since DS was coming home and wanted to sleep in his bed which was being used as stage area for stuff to take :rotfl2:
Glad that I can now say I am done packing and now have the bags stowed in our closet so that our dog does not stress out :lmao: One item not packed is DH sandles since he seems to need them for the next 13 days. Told him not to hold me responsible if they are forgotten :rotfl: I put a sticky note on the microwave so that I do not forget our FE's since they are being stored in the freezer:laughing: So with everything done I say lets leave now why wait... oh yeah the little thing called work most likely will not cooperate with this thought:lmao:

See you all real soon!

So, the last week has been extremely crazy, to say the least and many changes, but here is the OFFICIAL WORD.....

My 18 year old daughter Jamie, (she turns 19 next week), has been scheduled to go with me on this cruise from day one. However, she has had this "Dream" to perform at WDW in the College Program. She originally missed the auditions and everytime she contacted WDW and tried to see if she could audition, she was given the "canned" response, of no.....too late......

However, on the maiden voyage of the Disney Dream, we ran into someone we are acquainted with whom we had spent the day in Papenburg Germany on the Disney Dream when it was being built the previous summer. This wonderful person (whom I will keep anonymous) offered to personally give Jamie's resume to the right person at WDW and see what happened.

Well, 4 days after we got off the ship, Jamie had a call from the Director of the College Program and they have been working with her to go through the complete audition process. She completed her dance audition 3 weeks ago with the college recruiters and on Thursday of this week she got the official job offer to work at WDW this summer as a Character Performer.

Great news-She is going to WDW for the summer (she signed her contract 2 days ago) and she reports on..........you guessed it.............April 27th.........

Bad news-She can't go on the cruise. But the opportunity to perform at WDW for the summer which is a dream she has had far outweighs the 2 weeks of cruising.

Even better news-I am 99% sure of the person who will be coming with me in her place, and once the time off gets approved tomorrow, I will be able to share who that person is.

So.....in the end, everything seems to be working out.

Now, if you see me with tears in my eyes at sailaway you will know it is because I will be missing my daughter as we were so looking forward to this cruise together, but of course, I am an extremely proud mom and so thrilled for her!

I am preparing to send everything this week to a friend in California, so if I have your information wrong, please let me know today or tomorrow at the latest. The number is parenthesis is how many books I am preparing for your participation.

So the latest plan.......

1. Scrapbooking class..first sea day 1 p.m. most likely in Animator's

2. Deadline to sign up to participate is today, April 10th.

3. I will be sending PM's about payment of the $15 per book

4. Show up at designated time and place. (I will notify group by voice mail on ship if any change of location).

I am real excited about how the books coming out. Hopefully, everyone will be happy. I did find 12 x 12 books, so will you be getting an actual book and the stuff to complete it. Linda, I'm so excited for your daughter! Congrats to her - chance of a lifetime!:cheer2: I'm sorry for you that you'll be missing her, but I know you'll have a great time! Thanks for the scrap info. That will be so fun, and it will be great to have the pages done! I usually don't take time to scrap, even though I'd like to. Where are you planning to meet again, or is that still TBA?

Hillary1,
Sorry can't PM yet but trying to get there. You are correct. We have been upgraded to 5648. Did not know that till I saw your message. Just got our Docs on Thurs and it did not show the move.
See you REAL soon.

FE roster has been updated. Be sure to watch your ressies as stateroom changes have occurred.

Ken,
I'm getting this from some other thread... but for the purpose of the custom lanyards, did you need to know (or care) that we are Silver Castaway club members? I just don't remember being asked this... but I am loosing brain cells the closer I get to vacation! :cutie:

Saved by the Hawaii Cruise thread:

We have/had(still in limbo) for the Clarion at San Pedro on 4/26. We have stayed there when it was a Holiday Inn and really liked the place.

There was talk on the Hawaii Thread about where to stay at the port. I recommended this property, do a web search for Clarion San Pedro, nadda. Call hotel learn they are no longer a Clarion property and do not have a reservation for us.

Call Clarion reservations to get a we are soooo sorry, waiting to hear from GM at the hotel to see if they will honor the prepaid reservation, if not we have a backup at the Crown Plaza.

We will see. Glad I checked.
