04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

WOW...what a mess....since the ressy is prepaid do you have any recourse with the credit card company? Can they help in anyway??? Good luck....

(there is always DVC at Gr Calif....)

Will see if the GM returns my email, then will call credit card depending.

Nope - everyone is treated the same with my lanyards and name badges.

The special DIS lanyards are an EASY way to identify someone from the DISboard threads ... you can spot them from half way down the hallway. It's a great way to introduce yourself to someone you (sort of) know already. INSTANT FRIENDS!

:cool1:  :drinking1 :jumping1:

Saved by the Hawaii Cruise thread:

We have/had(still in limbo) for the Clarion at San Pedro on 4/26. We have stayed there when it was a Holiday Inn and really liked the place ... Call hotel learn they are no longer a Clarion property and do not have a reservation for us.

Call Clarion reservations to get a we are soooo sorry, waiting to hear from GM at the hotel to see if they will honor the prepaid reservation, if not we have a backup at the Crown Plaza ... Glad I checked.

From my *understanding* ... when somone (person or entity) buys an existing business, they also assume the debt and liability (in this case, that would usually include reservations). In situations like this, I would doubt the CLARION owner closed doors, and either sold the building to a 3rd party, or walked away from a lease. More than likely, the CLARION owner closed shop on the Clarion franchise, and opened up under a different franchise. n this case, the ownership cannot *run* from obligations. I say this, because, if the GM says they have no control over previous bookings ... they are likely not telling the truth. More than likely, the GM for the new franchise is the same GM for the Clarion franchise (same for ownership).

Good luck ... and remember the two month dispute period for charges on a credit. Then again, if services were not provided, I believe there is a work around available for you. See you soon!

When in Victoria last October, my DD4 and DS5 loved Miniature World. It a small walk through attraction located alongside the Empress Hotel. There are miniature recreations of fairy tales, historical scenes, famous battles (which DS was mezmorized by), a sci-fi area, a circus scene. It probably took us 1.5 hours to get through. There is also a bug zoo a few blocks away (walkable) that DW and DD went to and quite enjoyed.

These are small attractions and neither is a whole day event, but if you've got small kids they may be a good alternative to larger organized tours of gardens, museums, etc. DS is still asking to go back to Miniature World 6 months later.
I Googled Miniature World for info and found videos on YouTube of it, looks like something we might do, so thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

SCRAPBOOKING CLASS ON THE REPO

Okay, sorry I have been MIA, but had a family crisis this last month with my mother, but she is out of hospital and has gone home, so I am trying to get my act together and get ready for the cruise. HA

Here is who I have PM's from that would like to scrapbook:

bonzie1-Georgie
COASTIEand MATE-Karen
disforever-Kathy
hamm1207-Sarah
Herbie'sgal-Erica
ibouncetoo-Jackie
LynnG-Lynn
Mickey&JoshNut-Elaine and Margaret
MJGirl-Mary Jane and Kirstyn
threebritts-Heather
Tigger1221-Jill
Tadsmommy-Karen, Tiffany, Ashley

That's 16 so far.

So, for those that have scrapbooked before, you know the drill, but for those that haven't, here's some info:

1. We usually have the scrapbook class on the 1st sea day at 11 a.m. However, it always ends up being a conflict with our Palo's brunch reservations, so I am inclined to move it to 1 p.m. on our first sea day, so we don't have any brunch issues.

2. I generally come up with idea and try to make it go around the theme of the cruise (i.e. this one would be west coast specific for repo and Alaska) and I generally charge a minimal fee to help me with a portion of the cost. Generally in the past I think it has been around $10 and if I get your scrapbook adhesive and bring it for you, add $5 to that for a total of $15. So I try to keep the cost under that.

So, you are asking--what are we doing. Well, next weekend is Scrapbook USA Expo here in Salt Lake, so that is where I go hunt for bargains and try to find whatever it is we are going to do. And then I spread things out throughout my house for the next month compiling everything and shipping it to California so it awaits my arrival.

That is kinda the rundown.

So the plan.......

1. First sea day 1 p.m. most likely in Animator's

2. If you want to join the fun, please PM me ASAP so I can add you to the list so I can kinda figure out how much to buy next weekend; and,

3. Deadline to sign up to participate will be April 10th.

4. That's it!

Can't wait to cruise. This has just been a hectic spring. Guess I need to make my plane reservations next, but my adult daughter has me on hold because she thinks she has a life separate from mine and I am waiting for her to hear on her summer job. Hopefully, we will have an answer this next week and then I can plan from there.

I HAVE NOT HAD A RESPOMSE TO MY pm ABOUT JOINING THE SCRAPBOOK GROUP. DID YOU RECEIVE IT? Excuse caps..just noticed it was locked on

Hi Pixiegran... Please forgive me for jumping in here ahead of Linda. I see you are on the First Alaskan cruise. The scrapbooking class Linda is doing is on the Repo cruise leaving from LA up to Vancouver. Hope that helps.

Do I need to update the roster? Are you also on the Repo cruise? Thanks! :goodvibes

That Miniature World sounds really neat! I'll bet my daughter would like that. Thanks for the idea!

Got some packing done this weekend, but not as much as I'd hoped. Next weekend is going to be very, very busy! We leave next Friday for Disneyland, so I have to get the house clean (hate to leave it a mess!) and finish our packing...argh!!!

So, the last week has been extremely crazy, to say the least and many changes, but here is the OFFICIAL WORD.....

My 18 year old daughter Jamie, (she turns 19 next week), has been scheduled to go with me on this cruise from day one. However, she has had this "Dream" to perform at WDW in the College Program. She originally missed the auditions and everytime she contacted WDW and tried to see if she could audition, she was given the "canned" response, of no.....too late......

However, on the maiden voyage of the Disney Dream, we ran into someone we are acquainted with whom we had spent the day in Papenburg Germany on the Disney Dream when it was being built the previous summer. This wonderful person (whom I will keep anonymous) offered to personally give Jamie's resume to the right person at WDW and see what happened.

Well, 4 days after we got off the ship, Jamie had a call from the Director of the College Program and they have been working with her to go through the complete audition process. She completed her dance audition 3 weeks ago with the college recruiters and on Thursday of this week she got the official job offer to work at WDW this summer as a Character Performer.

Great news-She is going to WDW for the summer (she signed her contract 2 days ago) and she reports on..........you guessed it.............April 27th.........

Bad news-She can't go on the cruise. But the opportunity to perform at WDW for the summer which is a dream she has had far outweighs the 2 weeks of cruising.

Even better news-I am 99% sure of the person who will be coming with me in her place, and once the time off gets approved tomorrow, I will be able to share who that person is.

So.....in the end, everything seems to be working out.

Now, if you see me with tears in my eyes at sailaway you will know it is because I will be missing my daughter as we were so looking forward to this cruise together, but of course, I am an extremely proud mom and so thrilled for her!

Congrats to Jamie!!! Sorry that we will not see her on this cruise, but understand.

Folks, don't forget to have your mail held while you are gone. Easily done from the post office website!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

The MEGA LIST has been updated.

You can use this as a shortcut to all of the activity links. ENJOY!

It won't be long now. Happy Packing!

I know there's been some talk about if DCL will carry the Royal Wedding live while we are on our cruise. Here's some info on happenings at WDW and the Dolphin Hotel

Wouldn't it be fun if they had something special on board too!

Okay, okay ... let's put an end to the rumor mill. The TRUTH is out of the bag! Yes, DCL did indeed ask me to play the part of the Prince, in a mock wedding ceremony to be performed on the ship simultaneously with the live wedding. Unfortunately, I have OTHER obligations, and will not be able to accomodate the request. :confused3

MY OFFICIAL ROOMMATE!

Okay, so now I can share the news about my new roommate, because it's official.........

You know the lanyard guy? Yep, Ken would be the one. Well his better half Shari (HA) and I talk quite often. I texted her as soon as Jamie got the word that she was going to work at WDW. At the time I texted her, she was on her morning walk with her brother, Mark.

Well.....she mentioned it to Mark, and he said hm......he would like to come........so there you have it.

Mark is my new cruising buddy and will be my roommate for both cruises. I am sure he will post on the boards, but in the meantime, for those doing FE, just change Jamie to Mark, and of course, if anything comes with Jamie's name on it (because you are already done), I will give to Mark.

Okay, one more thing to check off my list.

Oh....and I did finally make my plane reservations yesterday. :scared1:
