I was wondering if DCL allows the packing of doggie bags during/after dinner in the dining rooms and at Palo. The reason I ask is I've realized that as this baby grows, I can't eat as much at one time (though I still manage to eat quite a bit - I just graze ). I'm worried that if they don't allow doggie bags, I'll end up wasting food (something I hate to do) only to get hungry later on. I'm not talking about ordering an extra entree, instead just having them pack up half of the one I ordered. Do they allow this?

This is also making me reconsider Palo as I've heard there's a lot of food when you eat there. Since I can't eat as much as I normally can at one sitting, is it still worth it to go there? (Or will they pack up the rest of my entree if I don't finish it?)

Where to start??????

Several years and many cruises ago in an ocean far far away, a few of us got the idea to wear grass skirts to sail away, probably started as a parrot head kinda thing. Maybe it was the first Panama Canal westbound.

Well there are membership cards, to get one just show up to sailaway in a grass skirt, however since the Alaska cruise is kinda special we will have a gathering of the newly formed branch of the GSF, yes the inaugural meeting of the Grass Skirt Flannel Shirt Frat.

That is the short version, other may chime in, it was so popular the ships bars featured the grass skirt drink, also cruise directors have been know to participate.

DH and I were supposed to be going to Tokyo Disneyland but due to the earthquake it looks like our trip is not going to happen. So DH suggested doing the back-to-back cruises and I think its a great idea.

Cayla - I made Duffy's grass skirt by cutting off a few strands of "grass" from mine and sewing them on a piece of ribbon.

There are several car rental places in Canada Place - I think there's Alamo, Thrifty and National. We rented from Enterprise one time (rented and drove to DLR - loooong drive) and had great service - I think National or Alamo took over that location but I think the owner/manager is the same, but I'm not sure.

Depending on where you want to go, you may not need to rent a car. Parking downtown can be expensive, so if you're mostly wanting to stay in downtown, I'd either take a cab or the Canada Line to your bed and breakfast (the Canada Line stops near city hall). Then you could just take a combination of bus, Skytrain or Canada Line depending on where you want to go. There's also lots of hop-on, hop-off buses downtown as well that hit some of the more touristy areas. If you're wanting to visit more of the outlying areas, it may be worth it to rent a car.

Thank you thank you! We're not sure yet what we're going to do about transportation or what all we're doing during our visit. We were there for the Olympics and we were extremely pleased with Vancouver's transportation. Our big thing is just getting to the airport at the end of the trip. I will pass on your suggestions to my husband. Thank you!

My nine year old dd is feeling a little apprehensive about the clubs. She's been on twice, one at one and once at four. When she was four, she had a bad experience in the clubs, and even now is not really over it. Are there any other girls around that age on the repo that might be interested in emailing beforehand? I'd love to have her start emailing someone now so she has a friend to go to the clubs with and doesn't spend the whole cruise with her five year old sister and four year old cousin, or tagging along with the adults. She'd have a lot more fun if she had a friend her own age.

I thought I'd also let everyone in on a locals place near Canada Place - it's called Bella Gelateria and has the best gelato I've ever had (Disclaimer - I am not affiliated with company at all - I'm just a VERY satisfied customer) It's near Canada Place - 3 blocks maybe - so for those looking to kill some time or who love gelato, it's worth the stop. It's not cheap ($6 for one flavor) but it's really really high quality. The owner also does experiment with flavours, so sometimes you can get some really cool flavours - especially if he picks a theme for the day (last one was Japanese I believe). He even imported the machine in from Italy.

The walk from Canada Place to the entrance of Stanley Park is a little over 2 miles - it's definitely doable (and it's a beautiful walk if you do it along the water), but Stanley Park is a really big park, so you'll be walking a lot once you get there as well. For example, the famous Seawall that surrounds Stanley Park is is about 10km (over 6 miles) and between the different areas can be quite a big walk.

While you could take a taxi to the park, I'm not sure of the availability of taxis within the park. My DH says that he sometimes sees them at the major attraction areas (Prospect Point, Klahowya Village, Vancouver Aquarium, Rose Garden, etc), but I wouldn't necessarily count on them if you're there mid-week (unless you took one of the local taxi's phone numbers with you). There are also hop-on/hop-off trolley tours and horse-drawn carriage tours around the park, so you could look into that as well, though you'd still have to get to the park (they have a stop outside of Canada Place, but I'm not sure if that would take you to the park). Thank you! Jim decided to look at Vancouver and Victoria today. We decided we would love to tour Stanley Park, and love that it is near the water! I read there were trolley tours inside the Park, just wondered how it would be to get there and back. Maybe we should take a taxi there and walk back.

In Victoria, we priced the Disney tours, the rental cars and taxis. We decided to take a taxi to Craigorrich castle and then to Buchart Gardens on our own.
