04/10/2011 Mexican Riviera Cruise

We will definitely be bringing the vino on board too! Glad to hear we are not the only ones...

Is anyone bringing their own alcohol aboard?

We would definitely like to, but not sure about the logistics since we're flying in from Colorado. Anyone know the area around the port and if there's a liquor store nearby?

Had a message from Disney when we got home this evening. I thought maybe it was to officially tell us we won't be going to Mazatlan, but nope, he just told us our excursion in PV (Canopy Adventure) will be starting at 9am instead of 7:45am. Woohoo, an extra hour of sleep! DH wondered if that means we're getting in to port later than expected, but so far the itinerary on the website hasn't changed. :confused3

6096, plenty for everyone!!!!! :dance3:

I'm sure you will run into a store in the area. It will probably be cheaper to stop at a store before you come around the port area.

I agree, it shouldn't be too difficult to find a liquor store or a grocery store. If you can find a Target they have the BEST boxed wine!!!!

Thanks! I always forget that you can get wine at Target in California. Colorado finally repealed the "no alcohol sales on Sunday" law, but we still can't get alcohol in the grocery stores here. Maybe someday!

And, if we can't find any, sounds like we'll just be able to hit Mindyjoy's room!

Hi there, I am new to the group and new to Disney Cruise Line, but we are booked on the April 10th sailing and very excited about our upcoming trip! Happy to know there are others out there getting excited for the cruise too! Although this is our first Disney cruise, we have been to the Mexican Riviera twice on other cruise lines (NCL and Royal). Cruising with me are my hubby and 4 y.o. daughter (I bet there was a propper Disney way to say it... sorry!) I just wanted to say hello and I look forward to seeing you all on board the Wonder!:)
Welcome! I'm an RN too- what type of nursing? I use to work in the OR but now in management.
So I chose PALO on Night 4 which hopefully is still pirate night because we don't care too much for pirates. And I got brunch for the last sea day. :cloud9:
Just fyi - not sure what time your Palo reservation is but they do fireworks at the pirate party on deck 8. I wonder if you could see it from Palos - never thought of that. It might be romantic to be somewhere other than by goofy's pool watching the fireworks. The show can be good; Mickey usually comes flying in from somewhere.
Is anyone doing a countdown at home? With 30 days left, we put our Mickey ears numbered from 30 to 1 on the fridge... the kids take turns removing one ear at a time, they love it! :cool1: This picture is from our 2008 Bahamas cruise. :yay:
Love it! Thanks so much for the idea!

Heck yes! We are bringing a box of wine, a bottle of champagne and bottle of Captain...
One time we were on a cruise, I think Princess, and the ship's doctor was plastered during dinner! I kept thinking...hope I don't have a heart attack tonight!!

I saw that and I'm debating reviewing the Navigators. I'm wondering if it would be more fun to have some element of surprise each day? :confused3

I think it all depends on what kind of person you are. I am TOTALLY a planner, so I look at as much information as I can beforehand. My husband on the other hand is more of a just go with the flow person, so he thinks I'm NUTS :rotfl:

Of course even being a planner, I have come to realize that flexibility is important. Last cruise, I had planned out several things I wanted to do and then once I actually got onboard I was bitten by the dreaded BINGO BUG, so all my plans went right out the door ;)

Hi Calmom- Thanks for the welcome! My specialty is NICU nursing. Your story about the ship's doc made me laugh:laughing:

Mindyjoy- I think we have brunch reservations the same day you do so maybe we will see you there!

Are my hubby and I the only ones here looking forward to the Margarita/Martini/Wine tasting events they have on board? On our last cruise (with Royal) we found those to be some of the best events - great engaging bartenders, new drink discoveries and a sounenier glass to boot! Anyone had any experience with the DCL tasting events?

My hubby did the cognac tasting last time (on the Magic) and said it was fantastic. The bartendar was great and he learned a ton. They're definitely on my to-do list for this cruise!

I am a major planner but I'm trying to be less uptight about it. I will probably sneak a peak at some point!! :rotfl:

Cool! I think our brunch is at 11am on the last sea day (so, Saturday?)

I am down for any and all tastings!!!!!! (see previous post about my love of alcohol :lmao:)

First off, we are not big drinkers or even drinkers at all! Neither of us like wine. Gus will have a Margarita once or twice a year when we're out for good Mexican food and I'll have some sort of mixed drink every once in awhile so we thought the tasting would be perfect for us!

We've done the DCL Tequila/Margarita tasting & the Martini tasting. The T/M was informative but we didn't care for the drinks. Not sure I would do that one again. However, we had a blast at the Martini tasting! Gus even made a full size Lemon Drop that he got to drink afterwards. Drinks were yummy and we left there all giggly!! :rotfl: We hope to do this one again this time around. ::yes::
