»»June 16, 2012 Father's Day Cruise on the Fantasy!««

After reading your post, I went and checked on our Cat 8D. There aren't any left, but the Cat 8C's are going for almost double what we booked for. When I mentioned that to DH, his comment was "Thank God that you're obsessed and book on the 1st day!" :worship:

That would be me too. I booked the second they opened up and am thrilled that I did. It would definitely impact our ability to take 2 cruises next year :)

I didn't book immediately, but the price for our cat. 8C has gone up by about $2600. :scared1: Wouldn't be able to (or want to) afford my stateroom now.

My manager at work couldn't believe how in early we booked this cruise, as out of the 3 we have scheduled in 2012, we this one booked first (I knew summer 7-nighters on the Caribbean would be a big seller!!). I politely explained to her that Disney cruises are unlike most other cruises, supply & demand, that they get more costly as the time gets closer, rather than them putting out cheap deals to fill staterooms at the last minute (well, they sometimes have promotions, but not all the time). It's not like they are paid in full right away or anything! I think I can use DocJason's example to drive the point home. $12,000. Are you kidding me? Holy Toledo.

I am crossing my fingers HARD for FL resident rates for our 2 off-season cruises (the one coming up in Oct and next Feb). I'd love to take the savings and roll it right into one of the balances for another one :thumbsup2 We were lucky enough to have this happen to us last August, and it was a complete surprise - I never thought that it would happen on a summer cruise, and a double dip no less. One can always dream.............:cloud9:

Agreed, you have to think that most, if not all, of the rooms are either booked or pretty close to full by now.

This made me curious, so I just checked availability. For a family of 4, there are only Cat 4s and Cat V's left, with the 4D's starting at $11,198!! :scared1: For 2 people, the available categories are 8C, 4, 5, 6, and V. And we're still a year out!

Silverfox, that is great that DCL offers a break to FL residents. We live close to Disneyland, have always been passholders, and up until last month, they have NEVER offered a price break for us. That's why I jumped (within minutes!) when they announced the SoCal Residents discounts for MR. We just did that cruise in April , but the most fun is on the ship!

Our August double dip on the Wonder last year was originally $4900 for 2A 1C in Cat 7A (secret verandah cabin). We paid in full, then well in advance, like April or May, we get a $2600 credit back on our Disney Visa!! We were shocked on the savings. Our TA just applied the FL resident rate code, and bam! HUGE savings. :lovestruc DCL :lovestruc Florida :thumbsup2

We did FOS in 2009 and the only thing we didn't like was the youth programming for the Tweens. Was Richard your cruise director? We enjoyed him hands down more than any of the DCL ones.
Our kids were in the 9-11 group. My DH and I thought the facility was less than DCL (very small room, etc), but the kids loved it and the counselors and that's all that really matters! I did think the youth staff was great. Our CD was Graham Seymour. He was hilarious!

I did the same (tried to re-book) - our cat 6A is sold out, and the closest is Cat 5E (yuck!) - for 2A 1C it's $7795. Holy holy holy crap! Almost doubling by half (we did have 10% off for booking on board). Yikes.

The Fantasy maiden voyage is like this - priced this for giggles for 2 adults (no children), all that's left are Cat 4's and it was like $7300. :scared1:

OMG You saved more than half! How big is that FL discount, anyway? The SoCal discount is 25%, so it beats my 10% rebooking fee that I'm still holding onto. I booked for Thanksgiving week, so it's quite a bit higher, but we won't have to take time off of school or work. I think Thanksgiving on the ship will be like Easter was. Both are Cabo days, with nothing special happening for Easter, beyond some giant chocolate Easter eggs.

Yeah, it was close to 60%, but it varies by cruise and category. We saved more because it was a verandah cabin, than say an inside or oceanview.

We had priced this one about two months before we booked it - we were wanting to do a rebook on our Alaskan cruise, so I had our TA double-check the price about 6 weeks before we left and it had shot up nearly $2K so we went ahead and booked then since we knew we wanted to go. Good thing, too, because it was "sold out" for the level cabin we wanted when we had them check onboard AND the price for the following cruise was over $1K more than what we're already paying. Ay yi yi.

We did, however, just book a Carnival for a week over Christmas going on a Western Caribbean itinerary. And got the mailer for this one on Disney Fantasy in the mail the same day :)

Cindy,

Were they able to add the on board booking on board credit for you? I have heard that they sometimes do this, depending on who is at the desk.

We sail Oct 1st on the Magic and I am going to re-shop our Feb cruise. If it's gone up in price, I'd still like the OBC...................

We didn't think to ask - we just dropped the card off in the box since we knew what we were re-shopping. We get a pretty good OBC from our TA. Next time we'll know to ask! That's a good tip.

Thanks for your reply :goodvibes

We get great OBC from our TA as well, but I love to double up. For this cruise (June Fantasy), we'll be getting $200 from our TA and $275 from rebooking on board and being Gold CC members :cool1: $475 takes care of all of our tips, Palo, and an excursion!!!!

The Feb cruise we are taking gets us only $50 OBC from our TA, and then there is the $25 from Disney and $50 from Disney Visa, for a total of $125. So, if when we re-shop, we aren't able to get the OBC, we'll actually only be missing out on an extra $25 (one they apply the $100 rebooking OBC, you no longer get the $25 from your TA booking online or the Disney Visa one). Re-shopping would get us 10% off the cruise, though, too.......We'll see. That particular cruise is not nearly as popular - DH just started the meet thread and there is no one else on it!!!

On our cruise in Jan., I won the $100 OBC from rebooking on board within the first 3 days -- maybe I'll get lucky again

Looking forward to next year!

We started a "list" of what we will not due because of the cruise and hopefully some time before or afterwards in FL....plus the usual stuff in July and August...

NO GARDEN .... not the best year this year and we just spent a total of 12 to 14 hours (3 or 4 of us weeding at a time) in the past 2 days weeding. (Kind of got away on us ... :headache:) Did I say our garden in 40x 60 or 40x 80 feet?

No swim lessons for boys... do during spring
No summer school or just a week
No summer school teaching either
No baseball tourneys for ~ 3 weekends :thumbsup2

Anyone else have some "what we aren't doing next summer" lists due to a major vacation?

Finally feeling like summer around here! :cheer2: :dance3:

Maybe that could be your souvenier? Seems that's how our boys came to be... :lmao: :rotfl2: just not at Disney!

You are too funny! Hmmmm.....vacations, or diapers & formula???? My brother and I are 7 years apart, so no big deal to me, and my DH is an only child..........

We have 4 DCL cruises booked and I am sure in Oct when we cruise, we'll book 2 or 3 dummy dates. I want to see where DCL will go in 2013...........Southern Caribbean would be nice :) Our 1st choice would be something in the summer that leaves out of Port Canaveral. I am not going to return to Nassau, and by then, we will have done the both the Eastern & Western caribbean cruises twice. Or, we could do 1 bigger vacation and go to Alaska via the Port of Seattle on DCL and visit Seattle, too. That would cost a ton more because we'd have to pay airfare, hotel, and breakdown to get passports, too. We are also interested in those Pacific Coast cruises, too. I'd love to visit Hawaii, but DCL doesn't spend nearly enough time at the islands to warrant the cost of that cruise, plus, it's during school.

If I only had an indispensable income..............I could have children & lots of vacations :rotfl:

Me too mostly... 2 is my limit (one for each of us), but lots of vacations ... I am right there with you :cool1: (plus having my mortgage paid off would also be nice ;)_

Believe me, not trying to pressure you... you just give a good opening for me to be a smart alec (sp?) in response :rolleyes1 (sometimes a down point for me) :flower3:
