I'm looking forward to Starbucks

MY DH has a severe disdain for DCL/Disney coffee. He won't even attempt Nes-Crappe anymore. Bought a travel french press travel mug so he can do his own coffee from now on. He'd love to see Starbucks on a DCL ship.

Shari and I did 2 RCCL cruise before the kids came along and we enjoyed them a lot. Now that we have been spoiled by DCL I am affraid that I might be disapointed lol :rotfl2: Ethan and Lauren would enjoy seeing the Sheck characters I am sure. You will have to be sure to let me know what your family thinks of it when you get back!

Our friends that are Platinum cruisers on DCL sailed w/RCCL and Carnival and I think NCL or HAL before they had their daughter as well. Now, they are staying w/DCL for a while, but said they wouldn't hesitate to sail RCCL again.

Now, is RCCL like Disney in that the cruises get more expensive the closer it gets??? Also, how do you kids like it compared to Disney?? Considering a 2013 RCCL cruise just to get a different route
We loved, loved, loved our RCCL (Freedom of the Seas) cruise 2 weeks ago. It was just as fun as DCL, staff was great, and the ship was amazing! I wouldn't hesitate to go again! I may have to check out the Allure now!

Most definitely. I enjoy an espresso drink on occasion, but what I would really like is some good drip coffee for breakfast and dinner!

Let's talk excursions. Anyone doing research/made plans yet? We're leaning towards beaches vs sightseeing. DH and I want to scuba dive on at least one of the islands, although that does present the problem of what to do with DD's while we dive. There may be an option to bring them with us on the boat and they can snorkle while we dive or possibly they may stay on the ship (their choice). There is supposed to be some very good snorkeling off Creole Rock in St Maarten.

I just booked our 2013 cruise. We're going on the Allure! We decided that after trying Disney's latest and greatest ship with all of you, that we should try RCCL's latest and greatest. DH and I are going to be in an Oceanview Balcony and the DD's are very excited that I've booked them in a Boardwalk Balcony right across the hall from us. While the ship may be uber-cool, I know that the people won't be nearly as wonderful as sailing with all of you on the Fantasy!

We booked the Carnival Dream for Christmas this year - I keep getting confused when talking about this cruise or that cruise - and Dream vs. Fantasy :)

I read here on DIS a rumor that DCL might be sailing from Venice in 2013 - if so, we're booking! Otherwise we'll wait and do RCCL in 2014 over there. We've been eyeing the Allure and/or Oasis, too.

Severe disdain is taking it too easy.

We just got back from St. Thomas and St. Maarten. On St. Thomas we did a tour with Godfrey's tours for $30 each. It was a 2hr tour of the island, 2 hour beach stop (did Coki beach- was GORGEOUS and water was super clear, saw tons of fish and sting rays), and then 1.5 hours for shopping. On St. Maarten we took a taxi to Maho beach to watch the planes landing/taking off. Definitely the highlight of our trip.

Here are the links to our FB pics from the cruise. At the end of Album 2 are the pics of us in front of the Disney Dream. It was wonderful! Can't wait to go back next June.

As far as excursions or places to go... can you visit Virgin Islands Coral Reef Nat'l Monument including Hurricane Hole on St. John's? Thoughts? Trying to accomplish a bit of Citizen in the Nation Merit Badge as well while on the trip...

Also, not fully a tech person or knowledgeable about FB :confused3, but is our cruise group, site & comments about the trip for our viewing only or how does that work? Not sure if I really want others to be nosy in my plans as you are "friends" w/ others, but, :sad2:, not really anymore... if you know what I mean... Thanks for info...

Our FB group is private. Only members can see anything.

So, if I want to post specifically to our cruise, I need to go to that site, and then my comments won't be on my regular site? Or do I have to go in and change some things in my (privacy) settings?

Thanks for the help... :goodvibes

LOVED your pics! I think that is a perfect excursion -gives you perfect time for each thing (sightseeing, beach, shopping). Was that on your own or thru RCCL? I definitely want to go to St. John though too :thumbsup2

How was your experience at St. Pete??

And you did accept me... just curious since I see you and a few others welcome me on my regular page... like I said before... not a smart one when it comes to FB and all. :surfweb: Guess that just gives me a better job security since I don't post things there or reply to others' obscene stuff :goodvibes

BelleProfHP - my older son will be a sophomore in high school in the fall. He's taking French for his language requirement - he picked it because he's hoping we'll take him to Disneyland Paris one day ;)

Have you ever been? DH and I went about 5 years ago (left DS home with the g'parents! :) ). It's great, but you can certainly tell the difference in attitude between WDW and DLP...WDW seemed much cleaner to us, and the CMs seemed happier - more Disney-esque. In comparison, the DLP CMs just seemed French. :)

Anyone else have some "what we aren't doing next summer" lists due to a major vacation?

No big Spring Break trip (pr any other trip!) for us next year. This year, we went to Seattle/Vancouver/Whistler for the week. The year before, we went to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. Before that was Puerto Rico and the year before was our first Disney Cruise on the Magic. This past Thanksgiving, we also went to WDW and WWoHP and we're currently in Puerto Rico again (same condo and all!).

But next year, it's the cruise in June and that's about it. For SB, we're thinking of just getting a cabin in the Smokies. We may try to head up for a weekend of skiing sometime in January since DS loved it so much - but skiing in Whistler, BC and in North Carolina are two totally different beasts.

:rotfl: No second child! :rotfl:

Don't want the added cruise fair :lmao:

Agreed! It's so easy to travel when you just have one other to worry about! Plus, it's much easier to ask g'parents to babysit for a date night / weekend when it's just one!!

Loved your pics Denise! Especially the planes landing at Maho Beach.

I'm originally from St. Paul, my DH is from Mpls (and yes, we actually speak :) ). When we got married we lived in Edina and before we moved out of the state we lived in Woodbury.

If you think that's bad, I am from Bloomington, and my wife is from Wisconsin!!!! I know, I know....everyone has to look past the faults in others :rotfl2: It does make football season interesting, well back when the Vikes were decent!

As far as excursions go, I think we'll talk about it more closer, but I really love the history tours and sightseeing ones. We rarely get to go on great vacations, and I'd love to see as much as I could. On the other hand we tried snorkeling for the first time at CC, and we LOVED it!!! But both present challenges of what to do with the kiddos again. Last time in Nassau we left the kids in the Oceaneer's Club for a few hours while on our sightseeing tour.

I am going to find a way to go to Princess Julianna Airport though...whether it's near a tour or not!

Happy Saturday everyone! We're busy today getting Z ready for middle school band camp at the university this week - we check him in tomorrow and pick him up next Saturday. He plays trombone. At least we had our cruise recently so we've already done the clothes purge from his closet so most of what he has should fit :)

We haven't thought too much about excursions for this trip, although I'm thinking I would like to make a weight loss challenge for myself so I can parasail at Castaway Cay - anyone ever done parasailing? Anyone parasailed at CC? I have always wanted to parasail and I think that would be a great place to do it! Anyone wanna join me on a WL challenge?

Hi Cindy -

My husband and son parasailed at CC in March and they both had a blast. I have done it in Mexico. I was really impressed with how long they kept them out there.

I would love to do a WL challenge with you. Then we can celebrate on the cruise :)
