If you've never sailed on a 7 day cruise, I think you will be amazed at how much more you will experience. It is much more relaxing, and there are far more activities to be experienced.
As for luggage, for a 7 day cruise, my DW and I typically pack two large suitcases (one each), plus one shared garment bag. The garment bag holds my tux (or suit), dress shirts, ties, and a few dresses for semi-formal and formal night. I bring multiple accessories for the tux (or suit), so it can be worn on different nights - in different variations. I do NOT pack dress shoes in the garment bag, as they can get crushed in transit. On the other hand, I *do* fill up the garment bag with t-shirts, etc ... to fill up the garment bag, and make more room in the other suit cases. I put my dress shoes in the bottom of one of the suit cases, and stuff them with socks to keep their shape, and cut down on wasted space. Instead of folding t-shirts, polo short, shorts, swim suits, etc ... try ROLLING them. They will take up less space, and you will get more into a suitcase.
On a 7-day cruise, we typically do not need to do any laundry. On longer cruises, we typically pack the same clothing, but wash a load or two of whites. If we need to wash colors, my DW throws a packet into the wash, which sucks up any color from getting absorbed by the whites. I forget the name of the product, but can find out, if desired. We also bring a can of wrinkle release, for use as needed on dress shirts, suits, etc. If a suit, dress, or anything gets badly wrinkled, consider the ship's dry cleaning services which can usually PRESS (only) for about half the cost of dry cleaning.
