That's great news on BOG walk-ups! I know some folks here have been trying and trying...maybe this will work out for them.

Any recent reports of the lines at lunch?? I'd like to try it but we do have a dinner reservation and not sure it's worth waiting in a long line if we'll be seeing it at dinner. Do you see different parts of the restaurant at lunch from what you see at dinner?

Also, I feel like I should know this but I don't: does the Beast greet everyone at dinner? Can he sign autographs? Are there any other characters?

I missed out on pic of the day yesterday. My son is graduating elementary school and we are a bit busy around here!

Here we are, from last year's trip:

I missed the pic thing too.
Just uploaded a photo to the community gallery but can someone walk me through what to do from there? I can't seem to find any instructions on this...?? :confused3

If you go to photobucket.com and sign up for an account, you upload your pics. Then copy the IMG code, and paste it into your message here. Your picture will come up :)

You can also use your DIS account to upload photos. On the dark blue menu bar above, hover over Photos, and then click on Community Gallery. Login using your regular DIS account info, and then you can upload photos to your account, which you can link to from your posts on the boards.

Thanks to you both for shring the info with me. :)

I would go for that! We usually get the first flight there and the last flight home. I might actually pay more to add 1 more day to the plan.

I do the same thing. Get me on vacation as soon as possible and let me stay there as long as possible. We only live about 10 minutes from our local airport, so when we get in late at night we don't have far to go.

In response to all the closures. We all pay so much for our trips that it can be very disappointing when they close one of our favs for refurb. Anyway, I'm wondering if some of these refurbs have anything to do with My Magic +.

You would insert the following code into your post, where ABC12345 is the ID of the photo you want to use (and remove the * before using):

The dates of our trip mean we will miss ALL four rides! We are totally bummed. I don't think it's too unusual for Disney to start refurbishments after a busy summer season winds down. What suprised me, though, was the length of some of these downtimes. Three of the rides will be down at least three weeks to over a month long. Yikes!

Us too:sad2: We will possibly get to ride the carousel, but that's the one we care least about :rolleyes2 Oh well,we'll still be at Disney!
Off to adjust the touring plans!!

From what I understand, all 3 dining rooms are open during lunch, but only the Ballroom and West Wing are open during dinner (the Rose Gallery is apparently not open for dinner, but may be used during busy seasons).

Beast is the only character that visits BOG. I believe he is available for photos only during dinner service (no autographs). It appears Beast does not roam, but rather waits in a room for guests to visit him.

As for lunch, I have read lines are still about an hour long as of last month.

This was from my 1982 trip when I was 10 and Disney was still celebrating it's 10th. M left my glasses at home and my mom got this pic for me 'cause I couldn't see the stage. I couldn't find the pic with me and a Disney 10th anniversary light pole banner maybe my mom has it. Sorry the pic's so big, but I wanted you to see Dumbo!

I love seeing that Dumbo! It's funny because I can remember being there in 1981 and thinking the characters and everything were so bright and modern looking :rotfl2:

Yay! This is so exciting!! I've never been to DL either, but will have to do it someday :goodvibes

I actually just registered yesterday to do the 10K at the Princess half weekend in February. As I just began running about 2 months ago, I'm not quite ready to commit to the half-marathon, so I thought a 10K was a good compromise (and I still get to go to Disney :dance3:) Need to add a new countdown for me too!

:cheer2: WooHoo on signing up for the 10K. The rumor is there will be a 10K at Tink this year too. I'm actually excited about that because if there is, that will push the 5K to Friday with the half on Sunday, and then I will definitely do both the 5K and half. If they are back to back I'm not sure if I'll do both.

Hello Disfriends.

We are joining TEAM AUGUST :cool1:

We are booked 8/29 - 9/1 at Pop post DCL cruise.

Really excited.

I'm still working on itinerary. So far I think we will do

Thursday 8/29 AK
Friday 8/30 MK
Saturday 8/31 HS
Sunday 9/1 Epcot

Any advice or tips are greatly appreciate!

Welcome to our group! Which cruise are you going on (looks like the 4 night Dream based on your itinerary)? We were on the Dream in May - I want to go back!

The 25th is our last planned day at Epcot, hope it'll open that day. Thoughts on that??

If not I'm going to have to do some rearranging. We dont' go home until the 28th, so I am sure I can figure something out :):rolleyes1:rotfl::rotfl2:

When we were there during a TSMM rehab (you can only imagine how well THAT went over in August), it was scheduled to be down the entire two weeks we were there and open up the day after we left. But the day before our last day, the CMs at the BC told us it would be opening back up a day early. We had APs that year so we ran over to HS for rope drop even though we hadn't planned on that park and rode it once before heading out. So, that said, I plan to ask around in Epcot and our resort to see if maybe it will open up a little early (or hopefully on time). We are there until the 27th. The JC is the one really messing me up. We will have to hit it on our arrival day if we want to ride it. I mentioned it to the boys are breakfast this morning and they were 1) bummed, but 2) said of course we have to run over there to ride it the first day. Ok, let's see just how exhausted we are by that point :rotfl:

Oh, this might be good news for me! We have an 8:15 ADR on 8/23. If you remember, my friend and her two kids are coming up that day. I am going to hang on to the ADRs for Ohana and BOG for as long as I can, but I've gotten over myself and have decided that if we can't get them in, then I'm just going to give them up. But if this trend continues, maybe we could eat there! The only problem is if I chance it for a walk up, I will lose my ADR deposit. I'll pay attention to the threads and see what the reports are saying.

***********************************************

ETA: I was just about to suggest a POTD, but I see we are at 249 pages. I assume a new thread will have to be started today, so I'll hold off for now!

My husband reacted same way! We get there the same day and will be SURE to get on it no matter how beat we are ;)!!

My friends just got back from the world a couple weeks ago and said the line for BOG was only half an hour around 1pm. I'm hoping that's the case when we're there!

The closures are unfortunately a part of life but it's a bummer that SE and MV3D will be down in the heat of the summer. Great place to escape to in the rain and heat.

JC we can hit on our first day of the trip since it's not closing until the 19th. The girls haven't done that before and I don't think I've done it since 1998 so hopefully we can catch it this time.

The Carousel will open just before we leave and since our last day will be the 22nd and at MK we can catch that then. (I've never understood the appeal of carousels but my kids love them)

And worst case, we'll be back. At least we're not there when they are rehabbing Splash or Space Mountain right?

The people that I really feel for are those that may only ever be able to take one trip to Disney and then can't hit a bunch of stuff on the trip because everything is down. While I understand the stuff has to be done sometime, between rehabs and things just breaking due to various technical or mechanical issues it could result in an unpleasant view of Disney.

I'm ok with this rehab. I was more upset when on both of our trips last year there was no Test Track or Big Thunder Mountain which happen to be ds's favorite rides. It was hard to miss them on two different trips. However, I understand it needs to be done.. it was just bad timing.
I agree with you though..if this was a once every five years kind of trip it would be very disappointing to miss your favourites.

Just to reassure you, you are NOT the only people who would be hugely disappointed. I saw this yesterday and panicked until I could check the dates because it is my eldest daughter's favorite ride at EPCOT (yep, even more than Test Track, Soarin'...!). Luckily we will be there for a few days before it closes, so she will get to ride it. She would have been MAJOR bummed if it were closed the whole time.

A bit off-topic, but does it seem unusual that so many rides are being closed in August? I know we have a long-ish trip at 12 nights, but during our stay these are all scheduled to be closed for at least part of the time: Spaceship Earth, Carousel, Jungle Cruise, Muppet Vision 3-D -- all pretty major attractions and it's still a fairly busy season, no? It surprises me a bit.

I am thinking these rehabs are twofold. One part being regular maintenance but the second part having something to do with Fastpass+.
When all this talk started picking up Disney was said to be outfitting the rides to provide a more personal experience to the Guest. For example people reported that on areas of It's a Small World you would be wished a Happy Birthday by name on the wall where all of the Goodbyes in different languages are etc. I think (and I could be wrong) that these rides are being outfitted with some of the new tech they plan to roll out in conjunction with fastpass+. I don't know how soon we'll see it, but a lengthy refurb says to me they are *changing* things.. not just giving them a coat of paint this time.
It's goes hand in hand with all of the interactive cues we're seeing (Pooh, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Test Track etc).

Honestly, Jungle Cruise being closed is the one that most bothers me! We don't get there until the 20th, so we won't have a chance to ride at all.

I agree about the MV3D and SE being great to get out of the heat.

Last year when we were down Test Track was closed. We were all bummed about that, too. At least this year, we'll get to see New Fantasyland and TT!

Thank you! Let's see if this works:

Yay, I think I got it!

Thank you for all the BOG info as well, and thanks to everyone who replied about the closures. You're right -- I need to remember there will still be PLENTY to do!!

Hi everyone!! We're staying at ASMu from August 4-10. Not our first trip and not our last. We've stayed in several places and at all levels. This is our first time at ASMu.

Thanks to momto3gr8boys for the invite!

So what do you have planned for ADRs, tours/special events, etc.?

We don't do tours or special events but we do love to eat. For this trip we have TS plans at:

Mama Melrose
Be Our Guest (don't hate me!)
Teppan Edo
Boma
Raglan Road
Chef Mickey's (breakfast)

Only CM and TE are repeats, the rest are new to us for this trip. You can probably see our park of the day based on our ADRs LOL. I'm really hoping we like Mama Melrose because we haven't really liked any other TS restaurant at DHS... it's about to become a leave for dinner situation. Raglan Road was supposed to be T-Rex but I couldn't get T-Rex. Later I found out I could have called them directly and probably gotten something but by then people had sold me on RR so, we'll see how that goes.
