August Reservations for the Dessert Party opened up this afternoon. (At least on-line) It sounds like some people are having problems calling in. I scored our reservation for the 22nd. Woo Hoo!
Saw this... realized how late I am!!:scared1: So I ran to the phone and was able to swing a surprise dessert party for the family on the 21st!! Woohoo!!:woohoo:

haha thats so exciting! I hope my mom reacts the same way - I'll be so upset if she catches on too early! haha

I have another question for everyone about the dessert party though.. I booked latish last night, does that mean that I will have a table in the back? (Not that it's that big of a deal anyways! just curious!)

Have fun with your surprise! I bet you still get a decent table. You have to figure that most people aren't crazy DISers stalking reservations.

QOTD: From the Disney facebook page today: Who were you with when you saw Cinderella's Castle for the first time?

I was 7-- My mom took my step-sister and me... I was sprinkled with fairy dust by Cinderella's fairy god-mother!! (Over 30 years ago and it still makes me smile!) :goodvibes
My DS was 2 and excited to see where Mickey Mouse lives... DD just stared
I can't wait to see the look on my youngest's face when she sees it for the first time in August!

Hi all! Joining in here!

I'm Rebecca and I'm planning a trip at the end of August with my dad for my 21st birthday! I have a PTR here that you can check out. I'm super excited. I've never had a birthday at Disney and I rarely get to travel with my dad, so it's special for more than one reason.

QOTD??

Do you talk about your WDW trip at work or to friends? Are they sick of hearing about it? Don't you love having a safe place to chat about you WDW trip planning passion?

I talk about it with you guys only! Well the kids and I talk about it too but we don't go into much detail other than where we might like to eat and what we're looking forward to riding etc.
Dh really doesn't want to hear much about it or talk about it until we are about to go. In fairness, I plan these trips for the 2 week he gets off between his school semester and his work placements. The are heavy workloads and he likes to think about vacation and get excited when the work is done and it's time to relax.
Everyone else we know thinks we're nuts to go twice a year.
So that leaves all of you!:goodvibes

I'm finding more and more that Disney creeps into just about any conversation I have with people. :rotfl2:

Last year my wife got annoyed about it. This year she's embracing it greatly and we talk about it all the time. Randomly the kids bring it up too, saying that they want to ride this or that or asking if I remember when we did something at the last trip.

I have one friend at work who tries really hard to let me ramble and act excited. I have another friend at work (male-grandfatherly type) who will ask occasionally about my plans--but tires quickly of my incessant rambling. My mom, who is a travel partner, is excited, but kind of "goes with the flow" without getting too excited until she is there. DS17 loves Disney, but doesn't REALLY start getting excited until the week before and he HATES looking at menus before he goes!! I LOVE picking out food, etc.

So, that leaves me to come here--to the die hard, Disney-crazed, thread stalkers--who understand and accept me as I am. :lmao:

Well before I got laid off I talked about it to EVERYONE at work lol. Truth be told they were really very sweet about it and totally understood why I was always so excited. I miss those girls so much. Now that I'm job hunting I don't have too many people to tell, but I'm very VERY blessed with my family who (are not only total mousejunkies like DH and I) but who are going with us but seporate lol so we have a ball talking about everything!!:yay:

I can talk about our trip with my two fabulous guys (and we do....A LOT! :rotfl: .... God love 'em, they indulge me) and also with my Mom, but that's generally it. My extended family aren't interested, my inlaws are certainly not interested, and my bosses (both men) are indifferent.

Ironically, my BFF is planning her first Disney trip this summer as well, but her adult kids are planning the entire getaway and she has no interest in the details. She thinks I'm nutty because I'm obsessed with the planning portion, and I think she's crazy because she isn't :lmao: .

No, co-workers and most of my friends don't understand. I get the usual...you are going to Disney again? DH doesn't like Disney and my DD loves it when we are there but doesn't get into the planning much. Lucky for me my 2 dgd's will always talk about Disney, where to eat, what rides they want to go on, etc. And the wonderful Disboards..where we all share the same obsession

Mostly I lurk here at the Disboards!! But, I recently joined this fb page....I have one friend who is taking her like-aged dd to Disney in less than a week, so she and I talked a lot while planning. I will be picking her brain when she returns too. I talk AT my dh about Disney, but he usually just nods! :rotfl2:

Also, thanks for the thoughts on the photopass!!

Have any of you stayed at CBR? Thoughts?

We stayed in a pirate room in '09 and loved the room theme and the grounds. The walk didn't bother us one but. I thought we were further away at POR than at CBR. However, my one beef with CBR is the darn double beds! I wish Disney would convert this resort to queens too since its a mod. I'm glad we did it but for our family the queen beds work so much better!

I only talk about our trip to the people who mention it to me... I wear alot of disney scrubs at work so Mickey tends to come up alot lol.

I love having the Dis and the FB pages to share my love of disney with others who love it as much as i do!

We loved CBR. We've stayed there 3x. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

I ramble on about Disney to everyone. I think everyone I know is sick of hearing about except A) my dd and B) my DIS and FB Disney friends. I do try to spread the Disney love to some haters, but they don't seem to want to hear it :rotfl:

I will and do talk about WDW trips with co workers & friends, but the conversations usually end up apples & oranges:scared1:, It seems like everyday a coworker, friend or customer will bring up the subject of WDW, mostly it will be someone planning a trip, but they will only talk about it briefly with me, since I've been told I go way to much into detail and it's hard to take it all in:confused3, But when it comes down to a few days before the trip they have pen & paper in hand:lmao:, The funniest thing that ever happened at work was this lady who everyone said was the Disney expert, when she found out that I knew Disney also she pretty much started asking me stuff, that I answered, and most of the things I asked her she had the look on her face , like what are you talking about:scared:, she doesn't work there anymore but she avoided me as much as she could:rotfl:

When someone says to me You know everything about Disney, I always say I don't know everything thing there is to know about Disney, I learn new things all the time, Everyone has there own touring plans and as long as you have a good time that's all that counts, that's what keeps us all coming back:thumbsup2

I know I have to keep it at a minimum...!
Guess that's why I'm so quiet here! Lol!

Transportation cards??

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Transportation Trading Cards - They are like baseball cards but with a picture of a bus, boat or monorail (each type has it's own card)on the front and fun facts on the back, You can not buy them in the parks, you can only get them from Transportation CM's, bus will have bus cards, boat will have boat, monorail will have monorail, it is rare but it has happened that a CM will have the whole set, but be warned not all Transportation CM's have them, some will say they are out of them, some might not even know what you are talking about, but once you get your 1st one you will want more:yay: It is not a easy task to try to get all the cards, my son gets really excited whenever we score a card:goodvibes
