Transportation Trading Cards - They are like baseball cards but with a picture of a bus, boat or monorail (each type has it's own card)on the front and fun facts on the back, You can not buy them in the parks, you can only get them from Transportation CM's, bus will have bus cards, boat will have boat, monorail will have monorail, it is rare but it has happened that a CM will have the whole set, but be warned not all Transportation CM's have them, some will say they are out of them, some might not even know what you are talking about, but once you get your 1st one you will want more:yay: It is not a easy task to try to get all the cards, my son gets really excited whenever we score a card:goodvibes

So, while waiting for the bus, monorail, or boat do you just ask the cast member there? Just a simple "do you have any transportation cards?"

QOTD??

Do you talk about your WDW trip at work or to friends? Are they sick of hearing about it? Don't you love having a safe place to chat about you WDW trip planning passion?

I never talk about it unless they ask, and even when they ask I talk just briefly because I know they are just asking to be polite. That's why I love these boards!

There are lots of levels to this for me. Some people think I'm crazy and have actually been rather rude, so I just don't mention it at all to them. Some know and respect that this is my "thing", but don't get it, so we don't discuss it either. Then I have several friends/family members who also really like Disney, but they're definitely not the obsessive planner that I am :rotfl:. We talk Disney only when they have a trip planned, and need some advice ;). My kids will often make Disney references, and mention something they'd like to do, but they're not really interested in the planning details.

No one I know feels quite the same way I do about Disney - which is why I love you all so much :grouphug:

Thanks for the good advice! I was planning of getting water and refilling it at the parks but maybe taking a can of gatorade would be a good idea. I hate waring hats but I might have to have one as I don't want to get sun stroke as that wouldn't be good. I'm slowly putting together cloths and shoes for the trip thinking good walking sandles or mesh running shoes would be the best for everyone.
I'll try not to drive myself crazy before we get there.

You can also buy the little powder packets of gatorade to mix in with your water...this way you don't need to be carrying heavy bottles of gatorade. We take these: http://www.amazon.com/Ultima-Replenisher-Orange-30-Packets/dp/B0019LZ00O/ref=pd_sim_hpc_4

I try to avoid gatorade because of the sugar content and artificial flavors/coloring. This is all natural with no artificial sweetners, etc. It's refreshing instead of heavy on the stomach the way gatorade can be sometimes. But whatever you like to drink, it most likely comes in a little powder packet these days!

Saw this... realized how late I am!!:scared1: So I ran to the phone and was able to swing a surprise dessert party for the family on the 21st!! Woohoo!!:woohoo:

:thumbsup2:cool1:

Hi all! Joining in here!

I'm Rebecca and I'm planning a trip at the end of August with my dad for my 21st birthday! I have a PTR here that you can check out. I'm super excited. I've never had a birthday at Disney and I rarely get to travel with my dad, so it's special for more than one reason.

Welcome!!

QOTD??

I tend not to. Years ago I talked to anyone who would listen, but I've gotten away from that. I get tired of all the "you're going to Disney again?" and unless you are a Disney nut, you just really don't get it. If friends/family have a trip planned, I find myself talking to them more.

At home we talk about it a lot, but that's my family indulging me :rotfl: DW humors me. She enjoys Disney very much, but not like those of us here do. The boys are genuinely excited, but not 6 months or a year out. Now that school is winding down, they are talking about it more, but I think some of that also stemmed from our cruise - that put the bug back into everyone!

I have to see the rehab doctor today (I mentioned it to the boys this morning since my appointment is around the time they get home and DS12 thought I was going to see the "rehab" doctor because I am taking too much medication lol. I explained it was a different kind of rehab :rotfl:) and then an MRI tomorrow, one on Friday and an MRA on Monday. Cross your fingers all that banging doesn't stir up another headache!

And since there has been so much CBR chatter here lately, for all you fans, this morning I am having my coffee with you all out of this (found way back in the cabinet! - I wish they still had the resort specific refillable mugs!):

Oooh - thanks for this link... I've been lamenting over what to bring to keep us a little more hydrated, and I've been avoiding the mix in packets for this very reason - I prefer to stay away from the weird chemicals they put into all this stuff, if there is any way I can. I jsut knew there had to be something natural out there. :thumbsup2

Love the mug! I wish they had resort specific ones too...

Sorry I've fallen so far behind here... I had a really awesome Dismeet at the MOA last weekend - and I fell behind everywhere... Hopefully I can catch back up again soon.

D~

Wow I fell way behind here! I'm all caught up now. I just had dinner with some friends last night, and they don't get it. One friend mentioned how she saw that ticket prices went up and said she can't believe I would pay that. I didn't want to get into a whole debate about pakages and length of stay. She has never been and has no desire to take her children. That actually makes me sad because it is such a wonderful happy place, and my family enjoys our time together there so much. I can talk to DH about it all the time. Now that we are getting closer, he's getting excited too. DD and I talk about it together all the time. My dad says I've created another disney fanatic. However, he created my disney fanaticism. So it's all his fault. I have pictures and video to prove it. :rotfl2:

The first time I saw the castle... DL I was 18 months old. Clearly I don't remember that, but we went back when I was 3. WDW I was 5 and completely mesmorized by it. The castle at WDW is so much more awe inspiring. I was hooked.

We try to stick to water (gets boring) so we started using TrueLemon/TrueLime packets to add; it's basically freeze dried citrus with no preservatives.

I have to look into the Replenisher too! Thanks for the tip!

Lime Green Mickey Heads are here!!!! I finally got around to getting the new ones finished up for this years Team August! Those who had them last year will notice a few changes...the lime green is definitely brighter and it prints out just about right on my printer. (Went thru many shades of testing lol) Also redesigned the font a bit so more of the image shows thru. The printed size as is comes out to about 9.5" wide by 7.5 inches tall. Since they are a .png file they resize pretty well so you should be able to print in any size.

They are fully customizeable! Just let me know what design you would like and I can usually have it ready for you in a day or so. I'll use your forum user name by default, but if you want something different just let me know! Also if you want, I can change the background to just about any character but realize that some may not work well with the shape of the text.

So here are this year's 2013 Team August LGMH's!

People know I am going but I don't talk about it unless someone asks or I might say we are going to Disney in August & then I get the  look because it is so hot in Florida. Really people, isn't it hot in CT too???

So it is nice to come in & chat or read about others plans.

I have spoken to some of my close friends at work about my trip but not as much as I would like to though. I know they are happy for me but they just give me this look that I just talk generic stuff about my trip. I did tell them the other day about the dessert party but they were like OK. So I just shut up about it, lol. Even my DH gets sick of me talking about the trip but he knows that's the way I am.

I love coming here and on the Facebook page to talk all I want about my trip. :)

I've never seen this stuff before but I like that it doesn't have the artificial colours in it as I have an intolerance to one of the yellow dyes. Wonder if I can get it in Canada? I don't mind buying from Amazon.com but they always charge a crazy amonut for shipping! I've never seen packets of gatorade here either just the cans of powder but I can take one or two in our suitcases and just make up a couple of bottles for us. I'd likely end up just doing water myself due to the dyes in it.

Funny to see all this CBR talk today. I've been wrestling with the idea of switching (Yeah yeah.. big surprise:rolleyes1).

I want to stay at POFQ but there are two things holding me back. One, I looked online at the food court choices and POFQ is pretty lacking when it comes to what my vegetarian dd will eat. I think there is one thing she will eat. We do tend to use the foodcourt quite a bit. That is just one thing that we could work around but the other big issue for me is the pool situation. Ds 9 is ALL about the waterslides. He LOVES them. The waterslide at POFQ is not going to cut it for him. It's very small. We're going in August (obviously) and will use the pool every single day. I don't want to walk over to POR in the heat to go to the pool and the food court every day.
This leaves me 2 options. A Royal Room at POR, which wouldn't be bad but it's $300 more and we just stayed in one in February. We had a great time but we like to mix it up and would prefer to stay somewhere new.

Which leaves CBR. It's never interested me much because of all the complaints I've heard of the size. But that could be easily overlooked by getting a preferred room. Add in all of the pools and a much more varied food court menu and it's starting to look pretty attractive.

What would you do?:)

:rolleyes1

Darn it. I was almost undetected:rotfl2:
Yeah.. I switched. Is anyone shocked anymore?:rotfl2:

You'll have to come back and let us know what you thought. I'm getting switch-itis about DH and my November trip. We are at POFQ, but the other available discount was at CBR. We went with FQ, but we'll be at POR in August, so I'm thinking we might want something different.
We are a family of 5, so most of the resorts are out for family trips unless we do 2 rooms. Thinking it might be fun to try someplace different that we wouldn't normally be able to visit.

That was a pretty big factor for us. We were at POR on our last trip and I liket do something completely different for the next trip. POFQ didn't feel different enough, along with all the other things. I will definitely let you know how it goes!:)
