“IT’S OUR MOTHER DAUGHTER TRIP!” Our Spontaneous Getaway - April 2011 COMPLETE 9/13

MMMMMM Boma!

Hahaha a plate of carbs = delicious.

Mother is slightly more healthy. But she loves her grits. <3

I'm so glad you didn't have to wait for a bus that morning! Yay for meeting Stitch and getting FP's!

Balzac!!!! OMG! I wonder if that's on purpose?? Because Disney and the Music Man go WAYYY back. :p

Ooooh it's so pretty! I'm glad that pavilion is still getting some use though, instead of just being abandoned like River Country.

Hydrandgeas are my Mother's fave flowers. :goodvibes I'll show her your pic! She'll love it. :)

P.S. I BEAT TIMMY!!!!! :woohoo:

I agree :)
LOL because all of the eccentric food is healthier than the frump food  That's why she wins.
Haha I know isn't that crazy!?! I don't know if that's on purpose. It's funny though!
And I agree... I love Wonders of Life. I wish they'd reopen something there permanently. I bet they will eventually.
And aww I bet she'll like those pics.
:wizard:

Carbs= delicious! Your breakfast looked very yummy!

I completely agree! And mmm it was :cloud9:

ok so I've just sat and read through all of your reports and I love them! :goodvibes You sound very much like an American version of me! (I just wish I could go to WDW as much as you do!!) I vaguely remember the Wonders of Life Pavilion too, and River Country, I think they shut down pretty soon after my first ever trip to a Disney park in 2001! So cool they open the pavilion for the Flower and Garden Festival! :)

Hey Jess! I'm all caught up with your TR. :thumbsup2
The Wonders of Life pavilion looks so nice with all the flowers! A year ago when I was lurking on other boards I saw pictures/videos of deserted River Country and Pop and it freaked me out. I remember in one video, they still had background music playing near River Country. Creepy, huh?
Your dress is sooo cute, I love it!
Also - remember we were talking about our cameras at night? Yeah, totally know what you mean when you said it doesn't focus. :rotfl: It was so annoying!! When there were enough lights around something, it would work. But if it was too dark, there was no hope. :sad2:

We ate at Le Chef's de France on our second night and loved it. Unlike your experience though, our waitress was indeed French. It was very good, we want to go back in November!

GRRRR... Kristen beat me again! But I was camping with a friend for a day, so I didn't have internet access and if I did, I was too busy to use it, so her victory is invalid. :p

Mmmmm... Boma, looks like a really nice breakfast there! I'm eyeing those cubed potatoes and the omelets right now... Looks so good! I may have to check that place out sometime :goodvibes

Glad to see you didn't have to wait forever for your bus! (: And then you get a Stitch M&G AND Fastpasses to Soarin', WOOT! :thumbsup2

OMG, BAAALLLZZAAAC!! I've seen the Music Man twice, almost auditioned for it this year since they were doing it for our town play, but I was in my school play instead (:(), though I totally remember that line when I went to see it. I don't know why it is so funny, when she is just dragging out the word, but it just is  But I can't believe that's the name of the Stacy ball LOL

Ooooo... an abandoned attractions thread! I would love to look at that, can you link me, Jess? :flower3:

Awwwww... Wonders of Life... I've heard so much about this place. I remember even talking to my Uncle about Disney and he mentioned Body Wars, one ride that was here, but may have been part of the reason it was removed because it wasn't exactly for the strong stomach LOL But I'm so happy it's being used for the F&G Festival, I really need to check it out. I love the flowers that they put out in front, very cool :goodvibes And the lady putting on the flower presentation looks so sweet.

Love your pictures at the pavilion windows, very cool (:

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

wonders of life looks so pretty with the flower and garden stuff in it. We had to do some training in there on a segway and its was freaky. It scared me a little:scared1:

Oh my goodness, Boma breakfast! :lovestruc That is my favorite breakfast spot! I am obsessed with the goat cheese scrambled eggs. I ate two full plates on our June trip and almost made myself sick! :rotfl:

YAY for finally getting some good luck with the bus! :thumbsup2

I love your dress! It looks very cute on and also very comfy! Great choice! :)

Girlie, I am totally loving your reports! I read your family one and this one, and now I'm going to move on to your girls trip. You're doing a great job! I especially love your food reviews, as I also am a Disney foodie.

I recognize your airport - I am from your area and fly out of the same one when I go to Disney! I'm in a southern suburb.

I too was a pick-a-little lady in The Music Man... but many moons ago. :rotfl: Pick-a-little talk-a-little, pick-a-little talk-a-little, cheep cheep cheep talk a lot pick-a-little more!! What a great musical!

Hooray! It was super pretty! And yes I think you're talking about the same thread I am. It freaked me out too but it was incredibly intriguing... I couldn't stop reading! But eww that is SUPER creepy!! It's like a Disney ghost story! (I say this as the Haunted Mansion music is playing in the background haha)
And YES that's exactly what I'm talking about. Ugh it's SUCH a pain... I wish I could figure out a way for it to chill out of the focusing in the dark. It gets to be such a pain :headache: Did you find anything that worked well?
Aww I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you had a wonderful trip!!

GRRRR... Kristen beat me again! But I was camping with a friend for a day, so I didn't have internet access and if I did, I was too busy to use it, so her victory is invalid. :p

Haha she beat you fair and square, timmy
And haha I had those foods for breakfast this morning!! But it wasn't from Disney. But it was still good.
Aww I loved Music Man! What play did you do? And hahaha I know it's just SO funny! The Mayor's Wife is a great character in that play!
The link is: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2335111 Very interesting stuff right here!
Yes I heard Body Wars was a little iffy in that department. That's why I was always scared to go on it. Guess I lost my chance.
But I hope you get to see it if you go for the festival!
And thank you!

I agree! And LOL it would scare me too. It's just kinda creepy being in there. I feel like it's haunted

MmMmMm!! :) SO good. Haha I didn't try those, but I'm sure my Mom did! They must have been good if you ate that many
And YAY for sure! And thank you!!

Haha yup Western New York! I bet I would know the suburb :) I love local disers!
And aww YES! Pick-A-Little-Ladies forever! Which one were you?

Oh good! I wonder why they can't use the same alligators for everything?

The inside of Boma is so pretty! I love the sails!

I love ikebana - you're very lucky to have seen a demonstration! I took a flower arranging class in undergrad and we did some of the more stylized forms (given that we couldn't do true ikebana since it was a class full of middle class white girls taught by another middle class white lady!), like rikka, sheika, and the three kinds of nageire. It's very difficult and I was terrible at it, and felt horrible at ruining the art, so I stuck to more Western forms because I couldn't mess those up as much!

I've been in Wonders of Life and I didn't really like it so much - for some reason, I felt like it was a rip-off of the Magic School Bus? Probably the go-inside-a-body attraction. And some really terrible 'science' experiments that were geared towards little kids that were very basic. I guess I don't miss it that much! I think an intro to science set of attractions could work very well in the pavilion (I volunteer with a group here at school and they have fun and engaging activities for everyone and we have like 1/100000th of Disney's budget!) that would be better than Wonders of Life!

I absolutely LOVE Boma's!!!!!

All those Carbs look DELICIOUS!!!!!!!

Yay Epcot :)

Your Dress is sooooo pretty!

I miss the wonders of life pavillion! My family loved the Body Wars ride (like star tours but instead of flying through space you are taking a tour through the human body) and the cranium command show (a short show about a army of little people who help control the minds of people) You can still see traces of wonder of life in the building.

All the plants look soooo pretty!

Loving your TR so far, I have two daughters of my own and I would love to do a Mother/daughter trip with them, as well as my own mom! I think that's so awesome that you are so close with your mom. My mom is my best friend as well :goodvibes

LOL I don't know!
I agree, very pretty!
It was a really cool presentation! Haha that sounds like a fun little experience even if you weren't pleased with your result. Flowers are beautiful... I love all types of arrangements!
Oh really? Yeah I feel like if it was around today I wouldn't really care so much about it... but just the fact that it's gone makes me want to see it  I really think Disney should do something with the building.

I agree! And YUM they were!
Thank you!
And yes, I think I did Cranium Command when I was like 8. But I was always scared of Body Wars. Oh well... guess I lost my chance! I should have looked more closely for the traces of it!
And yes they were beautiful!

Thank you so much! I hope you get to go on those trips someday! Isn't having your Mom as your best friend the best? It makes life so much better! :goodvibes

Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying!

And aww YES! Pick-A-Little-Ladies forever! Which one were you?

Ahh, I was a "nameless" pick-a-little lady, but it was very fun. I also was the farmer's wife in the picture frame during the big scene in the beginning with the song about giving Iowa a try. Did you guys do that part, with the farmer holding the pitchfork? :rotfl:

Aww thank you! Yeah I wish I could remember them! (I never got to go to River Country, though!) But it was nice to see it anyway. I felt like I got to go backstage even though it was open to the public

Haha I think I would feel that way too :rotfl: I watched your videos from your Frump trip report... you guys need to work on your English accents ;) but I loved them!! On a slightly sadder note, I'm sure I read somewhere that Balzac went out of business :(

Hello! I didn't even realize you had another report.i loved your other two.
can't wait for more! popcorn::
