“IT’S OUR MOTHER DAUGHTER TRIP!” Our Spontaneous Getaway - April 2011 COMPLETE 9/13

Good gravy, I'm sitting at work crying after reading you last post.

My favorite attraction in Epcot used to be Cranium Command. And I remember the Anatomical Players with my niece and they used to do this one skit where one of them would wear a fake stomach and they would ask the audience for things to put in said stomach. The person wearing it was blindfolded and the others had to describe what each thing they had "eaten" was. My niece and I offered up our Teen Spirit to them and they used it! I loved that day.
And I remember my dad going on Body Wars with me even though it made him feel sick.
And if you were lucky you could find Goofy in his jogging suit.
I miss Wonders of Life so much I always try to sneak back in where Cranium Command was, when they have festival activities in there, just to see if maybe Buzzy is still in there, waiting for me :sad1:

I'm glad you got to go in there though. It just hurts me now, knowing how it used to be.

Don't even get me started on River Country.

Haha she beat you fair and square, timmy
And haha I had those foods for breakfast this morning!! But it wasn't from Disney. But it was still good.
Aww I loved Music Man! What play did you do? And hahaha I know it's just SO funny! The Mayor's Wife is a great character in that play!
The link is: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2335111 Very interesting stuff right here!
Yes I heard Body Wars was a little iffy in that department. That's why I was always scared to go on it. Guess I lost my chance.
But I hope you get to see it if you go for the festival!
And thank you!

GRRRRR... and now she leaves for Disney, so more excuses for her... GRRRR...

I haven't had omelets in forever... :cloud9: Alright, I need omelets now GRRR...

I was in Fiddler on the Roof. I had so much fun. We did have a small cast, especially on the guys side, but I still enjoyed it. And yeah, Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn is hilarious! I love the whole Won Ton Girls part and the interpretive dance she creates with Ethel Tofflemeire, Alma Hix and whatever the others names are "One grecian urn... two grecian urns..." LOL

OH that's so cool! I think I may have heard about the Legendary Years, but never saw pictures. I can't believe they are making those buildings into Art of Animation. While Art of Animation sounds cool, I would've loved to stay in Legendary Years :goodvibes

Yeah, though I also heard it was just like Star Tours from other sources, but I guess it depends on the person :/ I will definitely have to check out Wonders of Life at the F&GF since I've missed it other times (:

Hooray! It was super pretty! And yes I think you're talking about the same thread I am. It freaked me out too but it was incredibly intriguing... I couldn't stop reading! But eww that is SUPER creepy!! It's like a Disney ghost story! (I say this as the Haunted Mansion music is playing in the background haha)
And YES that's exactly what I'm talking about. Ugh it's SUCH a pain... I wish I could figure out a way for it to chill out of the focusing in the dark. It gets to be such a pain :headache: Did you find anything that worked well?
Aww I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you had a wonderful trip!!

Ahaha I know right? When I first read it, it was night time and I was all alone in my room! :scared1: If I had the Haunted Mansion playing in the background, I think I would have just died.
It's awful when you want to take a quick picture! Sometimes when I switched it to Auto it worked better, but when it was on P there was usually no hope.:sad2:
Haha thank you! I so did! :cloud9:

Hi! I'm completely new to the DISboards and I wanted to say that your, and Disneyfreak616, trip reports have inspired me to join and maybe post my own! Thanks for encouraging me to get excited about my own trip in 61 days!!!

Such gorgeous flower pictures! I think Disney should keep the flowers around all year!

Your Boma breakfast looked so delicious! When at Disney, I always say the more carbs the better!! Hahaha, seriously why do carbs have to taste so good though?! :rotfl:

And the Wonders of Life pavilion is so pretty isn't it? I got to go in there on my last trip as well and I agree I wish they'd use it more instead of just for festivals!

Ahh, I was a "nameless" pick-a-little lady, but it was very fun. I also was the farmer's wife in the picture frame during the big scene in the beginning with the song about giving Iowa a try. Did you guys do that part, with the farmer holding the pitchfork? :rotfl:

At least you were in the song! That's one of the best numbers! And haha we actually didn't do that but that sounds really cute! I wish we would have. LOL I loved Iowa Stubborn. Such funny lyrics! "So what the heck, you're welcome, join us at the picnic, you can have a fill of all the food you bring yourself. you really ought to give iowa a try, provided you are contrary!"

Haha I think I would feel that way too :rotfl: I watched your videos from your Frump trip report... you guys need to work on your English accents ;) but I loved them!! On a slightly sadder note, I'm sure I read somewhere that Balzac went out of business :(

Hahaha we try!! It's difficult to know if we're doing it right or wrong when we're not surrounded by english people! They probably just sounds like funny voices to you :rotfl2: And OH NO did they really!?! That is extremely sad. Those are like the staple gift stands of Disney Parks </3

Mmm Boma looks amazing! :thumbsup2

Yay on meeting Stitch and love all the F&G festival photos.

It was! And yes, lots of fun!

Hello! I didn't even realize you had another report.i loved your other two.
can't wait for more! popcorn::

Haha welcome to this one! Thank you for reading! And aww thanks!

Good gravy, I'm sitting at work crying after reading you last post.

Don't even get me started on River Country.

Aww don't cry! Those are such beautiful memories - I can see why you would have an emotional attachment to the pavilion! I wish I could just explore the place without having to worry about getting in trouble haha. I wish I could have experienced Wonders of Life and River Country... they both sound like they were pretty cute. What a shame.

GRRRRR... and now she leaves for Disney, so more excuses for her...

LOL you can't beat the excuse of being in Disney!
Mmmm omlets. I want one.
Fiddler in the Roof sounds fun! It's really funny that you mention Won Ton Yee girls because Kristen was one of them! And Ethel Toffelmeir - That was me! And Grecian Urns? BEST PART OF THE MUSICAL! I looked so forward to that scene all of the time!
Yeah, I think the Legendary years would have been cool. But the art of animation sounds ADORABLE. It's nice to see the movies being displayed throughout the hotel. (even though ASMo is sort of like that... but whatever. The more the better!)
And yeah I think the concept was like star tours! Ahh Wonders of Life. RIP.

I so did! :cloud9:

Hahaha that's funny. Yeah Haunted Mansion music makes everything creepier!
And okay I'll try and keep it on Auto. Ugh it's so annoying. I love the camera but I hate that little issue that arises! Oh well.
And you're welcome!

I'm here!! I'll be back to catch up this weekend :)

Hooray! Thank you for following, as usual!

Hi! I'm completely new to the DISboards and I wanted to say that your, and Disneyfreak616, trip reports have inspired me to join and maybe post my own! Thanks for encouraging me to get excited about my own trip in 61 days!!!

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!! Aww I'm SO glad we could inspire you! You're so welcome - I hope you have a very magical trip!

Such gorgeous flower pictures! I think Disney should keep the flowers around all year!

I know, Epcot looks so beautiful with the flowers!

I eat carbs like it's my job :rotfl: Seriously though. They are just so satisfying. I don't know WHY they must be so good. I have to say that I will NEVER do a no carb diet!!
And yes it is pretty! I'm sure they'll use it for something eventually. For what? I don't know. But one day.... i'm just waiting for the announcement.

So I have gotten all caught up on your most recent TR. Phew! I have to say that this TR is making me excited to hopefully take a mother-daughter trip one day in the future, whether it's with my mom or with my daughter.

Boma breakfast - wow, that looks so good! I already happen to love the Boma dinner buffet, so we may have to check that out one day.

Love the red dress you were wearing. So cute! I happen to also love wearing dresses around the parks, especially Epcot.

I love visiting Epcot during Flower & Garden - so pretty and vibrant!

Funny, I just stumbled on some of the abandoned River Country threads recently too. Spooky.

Breakfast at Boma looks good. I've heard great things about it, but never had the chance to go so far.

It's cool that you got to see inside the Wonders of Life pavilion. Wonders of Life was never my favorite, even when it was working, but now that it's usually closed, then it's somehow more interesting when it is open.

Responding a bit late! I forgot about all my subscriptions the last few days. Shame. :P But I'm reading them now! Yay!

JOHNNY KIM! Hahaha, if only it were him. I miss that kid. Why did he have to go to college? Flirty cast members ;)

Sorry you didn't like your crepe. :( I've heard they were good, a french class last year made them and they smelled delicious!

Please do make a trip dedicated to finding hidden mickeys. I get so excited when I find them. :)

The AKL and Polynesian seem to have REALLY good food options. Ohana, Boma, Kona Cafe...I really need to try them. Your choices looked delicious! Screw the carbs, you'll walk most of it off in the parks anyhow :cool1:

I sooo kid you not, I thought the SAME thing this last trip about the Balzac thing! I saw them and was like...why does that look familiar? When I was little i just used to think it was inappropriate... :rotfl: then I was like, Oh! Music Man! Between that and the Main Street music, music man is just everywhere! hooray!! :lovestruc

I have never been in the wonders of life pavilion either. In fact, I'm not even quite sure where it's located there. But I'm very glad you enjoyed it :) My mom would love it! I forgot we diiiid go in April for 3 days once but we didn't look at anything really.

Can't wait for more!

Great posts!!!

I loved all your food choices so far!!!

Great pictures as always..your camera is awesome!!

Hooray! Thank you for being here, too! And aww I hope you get to go on a trip like this! You should do a 3 generations trip with your Mom and your daughter! :) I hope I get to do that one day!
Yum Boma! I have never had the dinner buffet! I have heard it's fabulous though!
Thank you! Dresses are just so comfy!
I agree! It's beautiful!
And aww did you!? Yeah, it kinda creeps me out. I found this video of people who snuck on the old Discovery Island... THAT was freaky!

Breakfast at Boma looks good. I've heard great things about it, but never had the chance to go so far.

It is really delicious! Getting to AKL is a hike, but if you're there it's definitely worth trying!
I agree.. when things are gone they suddenly increase in interest value

LOL that's okay, princess!
I miss Johnny Kim, too!! :( I wish he would come back. And LOL flirty cast members. So funny.
I'm sure some crepes are good, this one just wasn't my fave. It was kind of plain tasting.
And haha I will do that someday for sure! I have never took the time to find all of the Hidden Mickeys! I have that little book, though!
Yup - AKL and the Poly are the places to be if you want some good food! Also at AKL they have Sanaa and Jiko too which are both fantastic!! And LOL oh carbs. I love them too much!
And haha didn't that just make those stands even cooler knowing there was a Music Man reference? I was happy
Aww yeah you'll have to take your Mom back - she'd really enjoy the F&G Festival!

Great posts!!!

I loved all your food choices so far!!!

Great pictures as always..your camera is awesome!!

Thank you!! :)

Chapter 11 - Faith, Trust, and Butterflies
April 9th, 2011

We continued on to see more of the Flower and Garden Festival!

First order of business was taking this picture with the Stitch topiary.. I think we had to retake the picture about 3 times because I wanted Mission: SPACE centered in the back just so

dsc0883bs.jpg

We went to Pixie Hollow next, which was really cool!

dsc0884sj.jpg

I used to be a big Tinkerbell fan back in the day, but ever since her new movie, I have drifted a bit from her. I suppose I'll have to give the movie a try someday!

dsc0888d.jpg

I just took pictures of all of her friends' topiaries... even though I have no idea who they all are.

We wandered out of the garden and took some more pictures:

THE MONORAIL! (this is for Kristen.)

dsc0895ik.jpg

We went into Bambi's Butterfly House next, and that was really cool!

dsc0898k.jpg

These topiaries are just too cute!!

dsc0899k.jpg

I took tons of great pictures in there, it was so beautiful!

dsc0906c.jpg

"I am a BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLY!" (name that movie. LOL)

dsc0902p.jpg

dsc0905v.jpg

I think the color of this flower has to be one of my favorite colors of all time!

Mother and I had to take pictures with this the Bambi Topiaries... they're just too precious!

On the way out, I saw a cast member handing out seeds to the kids! I saw that Bambi was on the package, so I decided to ask if I could have one even though I was a big kid. Thankfully, she said yes! Yay!

Aww cute! I always like when CM's are handing out stuff to the little ones and I get one too. Not gonna lie - I get disappointed when I don't! I'm always a little kid at heart, especially in Disney. :goodvibes

Flower and Garden is gorgeous! I have to find a way into convincing my mom into going around then. Her birthday is May 12th so celebrating a birthday is always a reason to go to Disney! :thumbsup2

Hahaha that's funny. Yeah Haunted Mansion music makes everything creepier!
And okay I'll try and keep it on Auto. Ugh it's so annoying. I love the camera but I hate that little issue that arises! Oh well.
And you're welcome!

Gotta love it though! Do you have a Wii? Or more specific, the Toy Story 3 game for the Wii? I got it last June when I graduated 8th grade and there's this one part where you're in a haunted house and I kid you not...they have Haunted Mansion music playing! :thumbsup2 I totally zoned out of the game after that.
I know what you mean! But glad I could help. :)

More F&GF! WOOT! :teeth:

I love your picture with the Stitch topiary in front of Mission: SPACE. Those three photos paid off well :thumbsup2

The Pixie Hollow Garden is so cute! I accidentally saw that new Tinker Bell movie while just watching Disney Channel and it really wasn't too bad, though I barely even watched it . I mean, I prefer the sassy diva from Peter Pan more than the frilly and friendly Tinker Bell portrayed in those movies, but you can form your own opinion on that subject (: And I think, from my memory of those annoying Tinker Bell movie commercials with each fairy, the blue fairy's name is Iridessa and the orange one with the pony-tail is Fawn, just to let ya know.

Ooooo... the Monorail! Did you hear they are adding a new one? It's going to be Peach colored and will make for 12 monorails, which they haven't had in a long time. So cool!

That Bambi's Butterfly House looks really interesting! That would be fun to walk through with all those butterflies and the topiaries are adorable "You can call me Flower if you want to." And the "Beautifuly Butterfly" quote is from A Bug's Life just had to put that in there LOL And I love the little seed package you got, I'd think that be the only push for me to start planting-- Yes Bambi I will Hahaha

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Oh the Bambi topiaries are so cute!!!! And I love all of the butterflies!!!

How nice that the CM gave you some seeds as well! :thumbsup2:cool1:

LOL I don't know!
I agree, very pretty!
It was a really cool presentation! Haha that sounds like a fun little experience even if you weren't pleased with your result. Flowers are beautiful... I love all types of arrangements!
Oh really? Yeah I feel like if it was around today I wouldn't really care so much about it... but just the fact that it's gone makes me want to see it  I really think Disney should do something with the building.

I would really recommend taking a flower arranging class sometime! I went to a huge state school, so it was super cheap to take through our horticulture department. And landscape architecture! I took an intro class in that and it was really interesting - or at least, more so than you would think.

I feel like when they put up the science-y buildings they get dated very quickly unless they're aimed at young kids or they bring in people with experience in creating those types of exhibits. I've seen some really terrible and really amazing please-touch type of science experiments! Or even open it up to eat in or something!

I don't really understand the new Tinkerbell series, though my best memory of Tinkerbell is the vindictive, jealous, and nice sometimes one from the actual book! I guess it's kind of going back to the original, because in the book she is a tinker and fixes things? We're not going to be watching the Peter Pan movie (or fairy ones, I guess) anytime soon (very awkward Native American scenes), and we aren't in their targeted demographic, so I'm sure Disney isn't listening to us anyway!

I like the Stitch photo! The positioning came out great! The butterflies are very pretty as well. I love butterfly gardens. Did they have a lot of varieties of butterflies?

The seed packet is so cute! Have you planted them? Are they wildflowers or something else?

This picture is pretty :) The alignment of everything in the pic is perfect!

I somehow never got intrigued by the Disney Faries. I have always enjoyed peter pan so not getting into the faries is a mystery to me. I am the youngest child in my family and i was in high school by the time the faries came into play so i guess i was just exposed to them 2 late.

One of my really good friends has always been super into Tinker Bell so everytime i see anything related to tinkerbell i think of her

I love the pics you managed to get of the flowers. The picture of the flower with the morning dew on it looks so pretty!

Yay for the monorail! I'm sure kristen will be super psyched to see the pic when she gets back from Disney.

Lol at the bugs life quote

I love when cast members are willing to give older people things they are passing out to kids. I love asking for kids menus at restaraunts and and asking for the magic wands at cinderella's royal table.

Also I noticed in you previous post the you mentioned the big bouncy balls saying "Balzac" on them. I just finished up being in a production of music man. It was through a community theater company at one of our local churches. I was in the chorus, my mom was a pick-a-little lady/the farmer's wife, my brother was the assistant music director and was in the quartet and my dad built the sets.
