“IT’S OUR MOTHER DAUGHTER TRIP!” Our Spontaneous Getaway - April 2011 COMPLETE 9/13

The topiaries look soo pretty.

I'm glad you both enjoyed Les Chefs de France as we are eating there on our trip. I can't get my head around there being an Italian waiter in a France restaurant! Will have to look out for that!

Pretty topiaries (though very similar. I thought it was the same one at first!)!

I'm sorry you didn't like the crepes - I love them! Especially when they're fresh and utterly covered in powdered sugar (so.. a flat beignet, pretty much ;)) or with warm chocolate sauce.

Were those real alligators (crocodiles?)? I've never seen them in (pictures of) Living with Land! (Same question for the fish too. Apparently I am really bad at knowing with things are real animals )

LOL, I totally knew that...I wrote that response after I had just woken up. My bad! I feel like such an idiot now:rotfl: Did Remy come around to your table during your dinner? My Mom loves him so I've always wanted to take her there sometime.

Hahaha don't even worry. They both have a "le" or "les" as well as the second word starting with a C. At least they're somewhat similar!
And no he didn't! He only comes around during lunch, I think. So make sure you make a lunch reservation if you want to see him!

They were beautiful!
And aww I bet you'll enjoy it! It was really good! And me too! I was a little thrown off!

Thanks! And yeah, they are!
Those sounds really good... maybe the apple flavor was just too plain for me.
And no they weren't real... they were animatronic crocodiles (or alligators?) that are in the first room of Living with the Land. They're before the greenhouse scene.
The fish were real, though! They're after the greenhouse scene. There are lots of fish tanks so they can show "aqua-cultural farming" or whatever it's called LOL.
That ride is overall really cool... you see a combination of so many things... I see why you would get confused!

Your dinner at les chef de france looked very nice :) My mom and i were considering trying that restaraunt for our next trip in january but we then realized we had alot of places we were already going so we decided to not go there for that trip. too bad about the long time to get the check and the not so good crepe but yay for the rest of the meal being good :)

Thanks! :) Yeah... it's not at the top of my list, but I know that it's an enjoyable meal that I'm sure I'll go to again! You'll have to try it on another trip in the future!

We'll have to add it to our list. We have a good list going:
- Your Graduation Trip
- Hidden Mickey Search Trip
- Our Food and Wine Festival Trip when we're both 21 so we can drink at the only place we really desire to
- Our trip when we do our own version of Stacy's movie
- Our trip when we're both pregnant so we can eat A LOT
- Our trip with our Disney children
- And when you plan half of the reservations and when I plan the other half.
We gotta get crackin. And we gotta win the lottery
And yeah, don't worry. I woke up pretty early the next day. It's all good.

This is BRILLIANCE. I can't wait!

See, Timmy? Angry Krsiten. :scared1: :rotfl:
Yeah. That's right. Be afraid, be VERYYYY afraid.

All of your food pictures looked so yummy! I laughed at your waiter being Not french! We have a popular local Itailan resturant here, and most of the wait staff is mexican! I can't understand a word they are saying!

Wait a minute, you know how Disney's World Showcase rule is that everyone working in a country is actually from said country?! How on Earth did an Italian wind up in France?! :confused3

You find the CUTEST dresses in the shops. I have been going to Disney for 21 years and never found anything so cute! Tell me your secrets :worship:

Thank you!! I know isn't that so weird?! I wish he would have been french  But at least he was nice. And LOL oh boy. Italian Mexican. Interesting combo!

I know!!! That's why I was so confused! :confused3
And thank you so much! Hmm.... I just am always on the lookout. MouseGear and Island Mercantile ;)

I'm not an apple fan at all (except the juice. Yum!) and I would definitely recommend the more dessert-y kinds!

Somehow I've always missed Living with the Land - I think we stopped in once to check out Soarin' and the line was a bazillion hours long so we went right back out!

There are real alligators somewhere, right? Because I was looking at the Behind the Seeds tour and they advertise alligator-gazing. As good as Disney is at animatronics, I don't need to spend $18 for a close up of fake gators. ;)

Hydroponics is so cool! We're looking to install a set-up in our one window, but we have to figure out sun-exposure, ways to keep cats out, etc., etc. (though I do remember reading about hydroponic systems in terrible, trashy sci fi novels when I was younger and always thinking they were set up in oxygen domes like you would need to survive on the Moon, never connecting 'hydro' with 'water'! I felt really silly the first time I saw an actual picture of a 'ponics set-up!).

I like Living with the Land at night, too. Your dresses are so cute!

Chefs de France sounds like a fun meal, although it's weird that your server was Italian. :confused3

Ahhh, I can't believe I just realized that you started this! I'm so late! I'm going back to catch up now!!

Okay I'm all caught up! I am loving it so far! :thumbsup2

I LOVE No Fear Shakespeare! I always use that as a supplement when I am teaching Romeo and Juliet to my freshmen students. It really helps them understand, and they enjoy the play so much more!

Wow, I've never seen THE sign lit up at night! It is so gorgeous! That makes me want to arrive at WDW at night on my next trip! :rotfl:

Yay! I'm glad you were allowed to wear your sweats in Jiko! When we went to Artist Point in December the hostess made John take his hat off. He was so upset, because that boy NEVER takes his hat off! :lmao:

Speaking of Jiko, it looks delicious! We didn't try it in June, even though we stayed at AKL, but I would love to someday!

I know what you mean about the view not mattering! I think that every view at Disney is beautiful, even if it's a parking lot, because it's a DISNEY parking lot!

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that your rotten bus luck continued into this trip for you!

I'm so glad you posted pictures of the new meet and greet area at MK! I wanted to go through it on our last trip but we never got around to it!

Oh my goodness, that monorail chocolate is perfect for Kristen! I bet she loved it!

Your flower and garden pictures are gorgeous! I love the Lotso and all of the Pooh characters!

I totally agree with you, wearing dresses in the parks is SO comfortable! Speaking of dresses, I love the one you were wearing that day. You and your mother matched perfectly! The hidden mickey dress is adorable too! :thumbsup2

Haha yeah, it's not worth a long wait. But it's a cute little ride!
Yes there are real alligators! Don't worry - they're not fooling you!
And haha really? That's so funny! Yeah it's a pretty cool system! It's very interesting!

:) I'm in!! Love your stories! I feel like I'm there with you! haha

Hooray! Thank you so much for being here! I'm glad you're enjoying :goodvibes

I like Living with the Land at night, too. Your dresses are so cute!

Chefs de France sounds like a fun meal, although it's weird that your server was Italian. :confused3

Thank you!
And yes, it was good even with that weird ethnicity mix up in world showcase

Ahhh, I can't believe I just realized that you started this! I'm so late! I'm going back to catch up now!!

Haha it's okay! Welcome, Welcome! :wizard:

Okay I'm all caught up! I am loving it so far! :thumbsup2

Thank you!

I LOVE No Fear Shakespeare! I always use that as a supplement when I am teaching Romeo and Juliet to my freshmen students. It really helps them understand, and they enjoy the play so much more!

Haha even though I was in AP English I still used it - Thank God! It really does make the plays more enjoyable!

Wow, I've never seen THE sign lit up at night! It is so gorgeous! That makes me want to arrive at WDW at night on my next trip! :rotfl:

Haha it's so pretty! You just might have to!

Yay! I'm glad you were allowed to wear your sweats in Jiko! When we went to Artist Point in December the hostess made John take his hat off. He was so upset, because that boy NEVER takes his hat off! :lmao:

Oh no! That's no fun! If they would have made me take off my pants there would have been a pretty big problem :rotfl:

Speaking of Jiko, it looks delicious! We didn't try it in June, even though we stayed at AKL, but I would love to someday!

I hope you get to! it was delicious! I hope you enjoyed AKL!

I know what you mean about the view not mattering! I think that every view at Disney is beautiful, even if it's a parking lot, because it's a DISNEY parking lot!

I completely agree!!

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that your rotten bus luck continued into this trip for you!

Haha what a fail :lmao:

I'm so glad you posted pictures of the new meet and greet area at MK! I wanted to go through it on our last trip but we never got around to it!

Just another reason to go back :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness, that monorail chocolate is perfect for Kristen! I bet she loved it!

haha she did!! She freaked out

Your flower and garden pictures are gorgeous! I love the Lotso and all of the Pooh characters!

Thanks! I know they were all fantastic!

I totally agree with you, wearing dresses in the parks is SO comfortable! Speaking of dresses, I love the one you were wearing that day. You and your mother matched perfectly! The hidden mickey dress is adorable too! :thumbsup2

Haha yes! And thank you so much! :)

Great trip report so far! I'd never seen zebra domes before, it's nice to have a visual reference, lol. AKL Kidani just looks beautiful. Can't wait to see more pics :thumbsup2

Chapter 10 - Boma Breakfast and The Wonders of Life
April 9th, 2011

This morning we woke up and got ready for another wonderful day in Disney!

We hopped on a Hollywood Studios bus so we could get to the Jambo House. We had 9 am reservations for a Boma Breakfast!

dsc0857z.jpg

We were seated quickly and our waitress's name was Kimberly.

dsc0855d.jpg

The buffet was very delicious!!

I got a banana macadamia nut muffin, a sweet roll, a cinnamon roll, a ham and cheese omelet, strawberry banana yogurt, potatoes, and cinnamon raisin french toast. What a hefty, carb filled breakfast. But dang, it was SO GOOD.

And these are Mother's plates:

dsc0854h.jpg

We loved our Boma breakfast!!

dsc0856d.jpg

Overview of Boma Dining Experience:
Food: Really good buffet. Nice variety, very fresh, superior omelets. I would rate everything individually that I tasted 5/5.
Waitress: Kimberly
Service: Nothing memorable. Sort of boring/ordinary But very efficient. 3/5
Overall Experience: The food and atmosphere were fantastic. One of the best breakfast buffets disney has to offer! 4/5

We left and caught a bus to Epcot. And guess what?! **MIRACLE** It pulled right up when we got there!! YAY!

We got to Epcot and the first thing we did was meet Stitch! I used to love Stitch when I was in middle school. I feel as if the overall phase with him died down, but I still think he's adorable.

dsc0859bp.jpg

We went to The Land next and we got Soarin' Fastpasses.

We went under the little archway you take to get to Mission: Space/ Test Track, and I noticed something I've never noticed before. You know all of those blow-up balls with the designs all over them? (If you watch Stacy, the ones where she's like "Sorry Mickey! Sorry Mickey! Sorry Mickey!")

Well, the company that makes them is called "Balzac." HAHAHA I thought that was awesome BECAUSE I was just in "The Music Man" about a month before this. I was a Pick-A-Little Lady. If you're familiar with the songs or the soundtrack, there is a part of the "Pick-A-Little" song where the gossipy Pick-A-Little Ladies and the Mayor's Wife are discussing the scandalous authors the Librarian advocates in her library. They mention author and go "Chaucer... Rabelais... BAAAAL-ZAC!" It's one of the funniest lines of the play!

So as you can see, I was extremely excited to make this connection. And I took a picture.

dsc0860u.jpg

Then we kept walking... and we did something that I've been wanting to do for a long time - we went over to the Wonders of Life Pavilion!!

dsc0865td.jpg

Earlier this year, I found the "Abandoned Attractions" thread. And one night I just read it. I read about River Country, about the Abandoned Rooms at Pop Century, and about the Wonders of Life Pavilion.

This specific Pavilion stuck out so much to me because I went to it when I was younger... but I only got a 1/2 experience because my little mind didn't comprehend much back then. But after reading about it, I wished I could have visited one last time just to get the experience of it.

While the attractions inside are gone, going inside of the Wonders of Life Pavilion was such a treat to me!! I really wanted to go in the building so bad, so I'm very glad it's open during the Flower and Garden Festival. I felt much better knowing I got to go in there at least one last time.

dsc0866j.jpg

dsc0864z.jpg

It's beautiful over there! I wish they would use this space for more than a seasonal event!

dsc0867i.jpg

dsc0868a.jpg

I was so happy when I finally saw the inside in person!

dsc0869fy.jpg

These flowers were really pretty:

dsc0871b.jpg

dsc0872o.jpg

We made our way in and we stopped at a Flower Presentation that was hosted by a Japanese lady.

dsc0875.jpg

I knew I wouldn't remember the name so I took a picture of the sign.

dsc0876v.jpg

The little lady was so precious.

dsc0873y.jpg

Then we walked around the whole Pavilion.

dsc0877r.jpg

We were going to stay for the Holiday Planting show, but since there were no more openings, we decided to keep moving on.

dsc0878k.jpg

After getting my fill of the Wonders of Life Pavilion atmosphere, we left the building and kept venturing forward to experience more Flower and Garden Activities!

We forgot to turn the flash on in this picture - but it still turned out pretty cool!

dsc0879f.jpg

And this is with the flash!

Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying! And haha I'm glad I could help! Ahh I love AKL :cloud9: I'm sure I'll be posting more soon!

MMMMMM Boma!

Hahaha a plate of carbs = delicious.

Mother is slightly more healthy. But she loves her grits. <3

I'm so glad you didn't have to wait for a bus that morning! Yay for meeting Stitch and getting FP's!

Balzac!!!! OMG! I wonder if that's on purpose?? Because Disney and the Music Man go WAYYY back. :p

Ooooh it's so pretty! I'm glad that pavilion is still getting some use though, instead of just being abandoned like River Country.

Hydrandgeas are my Mother's fave flowers. :goodvibes I'll show her your pic! She'll love it. :)

P.S. I BEAT TIMMY!!!!! :woohoo:
