Does anyone have Duckfree ( Ductless) heat and air system?

We used to live in a three-story town house in NH. We could only have three through-the-wall units, leaving much of the space HOT! We installed one of the Mitsubishi systems. The system had four units -- one in the living/dining/kitchen area, one in each of two bedrooms on the second floor...

    Favorite Margarita

DH and I love the Platinum Presidente Margarita at Chili's. We only go there for a late lunch when we don't have to do anything else productive for the rest of the day. We are functional after splitting three of them. Once DH accidentally (after finishing one each) ordered two for the second...

Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire-what places should we see?

A little bit later you can see the fall foliage in all three states. A few suggestions for NH Mount Washington -- from the base on Route 16 take the auto road (either drive or ride in their vehicle) to the top and enjoy the view. Or, if you take the previous noter's suggestion, drive over...

    Favorite non-theme park Orlando attractions?

Exactly what I was going to suggest. If you haven't been there for a while, things have changed quite a bit. We are fortunate to be able to see the launches (tiny, and only briefly) from our side yard in Vero Beach. It's still exciting!

The Best "As Seen on TV" Item

The Big Vision glasses! They are perfect for doing my needlework. I'm nearsighted and, even with my own glasses on, was having trouble going from the pattern to the actual stitching. I can wear the glasses with or without my own bifocals underneath, and I can see everything almost perfectly...

    False tax Return

This year we had all of our tax information the first week of February, so I filed our return using TurboTax. I was amazed to get the refund in my primary checking account within three days! I was told that they were paying now and checking the returns later to avoid backup. No wonder stuff gets...

Were you ever on vacation on the 25th

Last year DH's sister, partner, and two daughters drove down from MA and we spent three days on the Florida Keys. We actually spent Christmas Day on Key West. None of us had ever been there before and it was a very different holiday. DH and I want to take another few days on the Keys and...

    Alegria shoes or similar?

I wear Dansko sandals and love them. I have wide feet and bunions and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. The first pair was so great I bought 5 more! They are worth every penny. I really need a pair of navy sandals and they haven't had them for the past two years...

    Ever had shingles?

Mine was very similar to this. I had been in pre- and post-op with a bunch of little kids getting their nasal tubes inserted. Later I started having symptoms of shooting pain around the left side. When I finally went to the doctor he could see the rash that was not visible to me. It was mainly...

Pecan Pie - Recipe with or without Karo Syrup?

In our family, the favorite Pecan Pie is from a recipe on the Grandma's Molasses bottle. It's really good! 2/3 cup Grandma's Mild Flavored Molasses 1 9-inch unbaked pastry shell 2/3 cup dark corn syrup 2 Tablespoons brown sugar 3 eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla 1/4 cup flour 1/2 stick melted...

Do you tip your dog groomer?

I tip my groomer, and I don't even know how much the basic groom is. We have a relatively large Pomeranian. She gets her under-coat stripped and the outer coat trimmed, along with the usual nails, etc. The groomer comes to our condo in her van and does the groom in our parking lot. She books...

    Playing cards - lost art?

We used to play cards all of the time when I was a kid. The big game was cribbage. DH and I still occasionally play, and I usually beat him! When we first moved to Florida a neighbor and I took Bridge lessons at the local (very active) bridge club. I have had to quit (due to memory problems)...

    Parents of adult kids

We moved to FL from northern NH in May 2013. During the first two weeks of October 2013 we received three calls from NH-MA friends and relatives announcing they were coming for a visit Christmas week. We told the last two that they were too late, the guest room was taken. The first...

    Shingles vaccine

I got an injection of the shingles vaccine last fall. My insurance did not pay for it, and payment was required before the injection could be administered at my doctor's office. I think it cost about $150. About 20 years ago I had shingles and didn't want to risk getting it again. I caught...

East coasters, is the weather effecting......

We had some clouds yesterday from the hurricane, but it didn't hit the shore until about 50 miles north of us. Today we are having scattered thunder storms and enough rain that the outdoor food truck picnic and concert were postponed. So we are staying inside and watching TV. Maybe tomorrow.....

How far away is the ocean to where you live?

About 15 minutes if the traffic is heavy. We are on the mainland in Vero Beach so we have to cross to the island to actually see and wade into the ocean. Still, it beats being 1.5 hours away in NH.
