Halloween on the Magic 2013

VA Beach is nice, but the traffic is horrid. If you haven't heard that from your friend yet, you soon will. That will be complaint #2.

Honestly, the humidity is only bad July and August. Sometimes a little at the end of June or beginning of September, but other wise the weather isn't bad.

ok, we need to find another topic other then weather.

My family is from VA. My dad an brother are VT grads and my mom is a Radford grad (then there's me who started my college at WVU before moving to TX). My brother owns a house on VA beach but is currently based in San Diego (navy).

We are roasting up here in the 80s!! We moved up two years ago from Houston and it's amazing how quickly your blood will thicken (once it gets to the 30s we start taking off layers and 50s/60s starts shorts weather). 80 degree days with the breeze at sea are perfect!!

well, this is starting to sound like that ride whose music always gets stuck in your head (small world).

Hi everyone!!!
Hope you're all going great!!

Can you guys recommend a hotel you're staying at before or after the cruise?
Also any restaurants if you've been to Miami ?

We're getting excited about the FE!

I wanted to let you know that I starred a FB group if you have any interest in that. I read in the earlier posts that some of you are not interested and I understand that completely . Ill actually participate in both . For those of you that might be interested the page is called Disney Magic 10/27/2013.
I like to be social so it's just one more way for me to do that. I am excited to get to know you guys on the dis boards too!
Shannon

I tried to find the Facebook page but wasn't successful. I only found the one with 10/20/2013, and a November cruise. I'll check later though from my computer instead of my phone.

I'm heading off the grid (sort of) for the weekend. I'm heading down to Vancouver, WA for a gymnastics clinic. I'm trusting my husband to get us checked in and booking Palo, etc on the 29th! We just booked dinner reservations for the 24th & 25th (Bongos Cuban Cafe & Sanaa). We're another day closer to the cruise!

I set my alarm clock for making the reservations too. As you start to reserve and coordinate more of these little things, the trip starts to feel more real.

Scored cabana #4. My wife is thrilled. Kids don't know yet (but probably wouldn't even care until we get there.)

Hi everyone. We will be joining you all. It is me, DH and our two boys ages 2 and 4. This will be our fourth Disney cruise. Our last one was the Panama Canal in Dec of 2012 and it was the best vacation ever! We were originally booked on the Magic out of Galveston for this week but we changed to the Magic so we can experience the renovations! We were spoiled on the Panama Canal cruise with a 1 bedroom suite so that is what we have booked again for this cruise. The plan is to fly into Orlando on Saturday and rent a car to drive down to Miami. After the cruise we will drive back up to Orlando and spend a few days at Disney.

We got Cabana #5 so we will be your neighbor. It is our first time in a Cabana. They were still building them on our last trip to Castaway Cay! I am super excited!

Welcome to the cruise! I'm super jealous of your PC cruise experience! I've always wanted to do a PC cruise, but we just haven't been able to get it to work out with days off.

Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans cruising with us!

So we discovered that it is Food and Wine festival time while we're there...so much for not visiting a park, but you can't skip F&W festival if you're in town!

Cruise wise..still not sure what we're going to do in Cozumel, but I booked a trip to the spa for the first time!

Yee Ha Just paid off our cruise today:cool1: couple more weeks we can book activities.

What kind of activities are you looking at doing?

What does everyone else have planned or planning? we're thinking about skipping an excursion in cozumel and just wandering around on our own.

We are thinking about hiring a driver for the day in Cozumel. Not positive yet though.

We plan on doing one of the three cooking classes in Cozumel. Leaning towards salsa and salsa

That one looked interesting to me, but my husband won't go for the dancing portion so it's out. We've done the cooking class (in the picture it has people wearing chef hats with their names on them and aprons) and it was awesome. We made a shrimp appetizer, fish for the main course and a chocolate rum plantain dessert.

I must agree with your husband on the dancing part. This is something that my wife would really enjoy so I'm taking one for the team

Just moved a dummy date to this cruise and so excited!!! We decided to surprise the kids... Not sure my husband believes I can keep quiet that long (JCFromTB below = my better half)! It will be myself and the husband, our 6 year old daughter and 5 year old son.

We had promised each other no more Disney cruises for awhile while we save for an Alaskan cruise/tour next summer. But we just can't... Stay... Away!! Our first DCL was in February 2012 and this will be our 4th.

Hi, I'm Joe, and I'm a Disney Cruise-aholic...

This may be our 4th Disney cruise in 20 months... but I don't see that as an addiction per say, just a race to get those gold lanyards :cool2:

Can someone link to the Facebook Group for this cruise? I tried searching but cannot find it. Thanks in advance...

Not sure if anyone already put together a meet/greet roster, and I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds. I went through this board and started a list of the families on the cruise - feel free to add or remove any information you'd like. Would everyone like to get together for a meet/greet upon boarding? On our last Magic cruise we met in the Promenade Lounge before sailaway and it was great to get to meet everyone at once!

1. How many DCL have you been on? This is our 4th. First was 2/2012 and we were instantly addicted! As a family we cruised on 3 other lines before DCL and it's hard to go back!

2. For those who have cruised on DCL (or any cruise) during Halloween - was the ship crowded? We've never cruised during Halloween but are really excited too!

3. Cozumel - any suggestions for excursions for a 5 year old? We've done Cozumel a few times with young kids. I think our favorites have been either staying on the ship and enjoying it less crowded and then just walking around a bit for souvenirs/food, OR - we hired a cab to take us around the island, saw historical sites, beautiful beaches, local markets, the whole deal - and still had time to enjoy some frozen drinks by the yard at Carlos & Charlie's. I think if you asked my kids - the drinks were probably their favorite part. (Ok, if you asked my husband, he'd probably agree.)

4. Is anyone looking to get a cabana on Castaway Cay? I'd consider it if one was available. We love CC and have never felt like we needed it to spend money to have an amazing day. That being said - our DCL-loving friends say it's an absolute MUST to try.

5. Also, my DD who is typically an introvert and enjoys hanging out with adults more than children strayed away from the kids club last cruise; however, after seeing the final show with the kids performing she has been eager to give it a shot. Anyone else with girls about 5 or 6 aboard? My daughter will be 6 1/2! She's not super outgoing with new folks but does well with the kids club. I was nervous she wouldn't be into the show last cruise but LOVED IT!

6. Where is everyone from? the Tampa area

7. If you have participated in FE in the past, what was your favorite you have received and/or given? We've done the FE 3 times. Favorite gifts - rum (I swear we're not alcoholics), lanyards/pins, coasters, nice pens, notepads, door magnets, a nice cup, sprinkles for ice cream onboard.
