Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

Day 5 part 2 - World Showcase, At Last!
August 15th, 2011

So after our gazillions mini detours we were finally on our way to World Showcase. Last time we always started with Mexico, plus we had a Kimmunicator to pick up at the International Gateway, so we started with Canada.

Immediately we encountered a PP person and took several shots.

We quickly walked through Canada and UK because I was on a mission. It was the hottest part of the day and I knew exactly what kind of refreshment I needed. But on the way to our destination we came across another PP, stationed on the bridge to France.

Yes, we did a lot of "kissing" photos. Hey, it was our Disneymoon!

This was where I was taking us:

And this was the prize at the end of this road:

241.jpg

Ron had the Grand Marnier Orange Slush, which he said was okay. I, on the other hand, had the YUMMY Grey Goose Lemonade Slushie. Ron tasted it and agreed that it was the definite best of the two.

Had to stop on a bench to drink it because it was overflowing goodness.

242.jpg

We backtracked to the IG to go get our Kimmunicator at the Kim Possible kiosk. For those who don't know, a Kimmunicator is sort of like a cell phone that sends you clues on where to go next on your mission to save the World (Showcase) from villains. Our first mission was in France, so back that way we go.

243.jpg

We took pictures of our progress, but you'll have to do the mission yourself to figure out more about them.

244.jpg

245.jpg

247.jpg

Yay! We succeeded! As we were doing our mission we saw lots of characters out and about (Aurora, Marie, Beauty & Beast, Aladdin & Jasmine, Mary Poppins), but all had long lines so we didn't stop anywhere.

We had a choice of where to go for the second mission, so we chose UK because it was so close and we had never done it. Ron gets a beer and we start searching for clues.

248.jpg

At some point our mission takes us to the little courtyard in the back. British Invasion (a British rock group) is playing to we take a break to listen/watch.

I LOVE rock music so I was having a blast! I'm so glad we found this "hidden" treasure!

257.jpg

You can't tell from the picture (thank god!), but I was sweating, errr, I mean glistening like crazy that day. Even in the shade, which we were constantly looking for. As we finish off our KP mission I was literally running from shady spot to shady spot.

Another villain taken care of! I want to do some more missions, but it's too hot and we need a break from the heat. Where will we go?

Up Next, More World Showcase, and some Bad News

Just reread your day 0 and decided to stop to comment. First of all congratulations on your wedding and pregnancy. Happy times indeed!!

I love that you got a king size bed at Pop. :thumbsup2 The double beds are so tiny.... Definitely not honeymoon material.

In 2010 we also did not go to a park on our arrival date, we also went to the Polynesian to eat (we ate at Ohana) and we also had all the intentions to stay and watch Wishes but were just too tired to do so.
:lmao:

Kona is on the top of my list of restaurants to try on our next trio. That NY steak looks awesome.

Anyways, back to reading some more....

Onto day 1!
So nice that you got to ride the safari twice! I'm happy it paid off and you got to see more animals.

That is so cute about Ron and Rafiki fighting for you. I have heard he likes to get frisky with pretty ladies but he did not try any move on me. Maybe I am not his type...

I am one people that is terrified of that dinosaur. Only rode that once. Almost had a heart attack. Do not need to ride it again. :rolleyes1

Expedition Everest, on the other hand, I love! One of my favorite thrill rides at Disney. I'm so sorry you ended up your day a little sick. Next time, just let Ron ride it by himself...

Finding Nemo is also my favorite stage show. Bautifully done. And I love the music.

Great animal pictures on both tracks. :thumbsup2

You did not even have to post a picture but the thought of a vegetable lasagna from Pop Century brought water to my mouth now...

I will come back soon to read (and post) some more.

LOVE that you were doing the KP mission with a GG Slushie in your hands :lmao:

There can't be too many kissing pictures on your honeymoon! Don't apologize for them!

British Invasion is really fun isn't it? I was disappointed that there wasn't more Queen merch in the shop though. I have so much Beatles stuff, can't get my hands on much Queen stuff though.

Another great report! I'm so enjoying your honeymoon TR.

I've never tried the GreyGoose drinks, but a lot of people on the DisBoards sure do seem to love them!

We did the Kimpossible also this past January. France was the only one I had a lot of trouble with. I looked.......and looked..........and looked..........and LOOKED! I must have circled that back courtyard at least 10 times along with other sections of France!!! Well, I finally found it - and here's the reason I had such difficulty. Someone had placed a small table for 2 right in front of the "secret location" and there was a woman sitting at the table. I mean who's going to walk up to a table and lean over them to see the "not saying what to not ruin it" ??? oh well...I DID lol :rotfl:

Wasn't the golf ball a surprise? I enjoyed the Kimpossible trek and we were able to complete the entire world.

Looking forward to reading more! :surfweb:

Hey Mel! I subbed to your TR a few days ago and made it to 8/13 last night. I went to read on just now during an off period from teaching and I can't see the pictures! Stupid photobucket!! :headache:

Anyway, I'm going to catch up all the way but I'm loving the report so far! :thumbsup2

Oh no! I came over to read the latest and I can't see your pictures because your Photobucket bandwidth has been exceeded. Ugh!

I just noticed that. :sad2:

PLEASE HELP!!
To all of you who have encountered that problem, what do I need to do to fix it?

Have you uploaded any photos to photobucket that you didn't end up using in the report? You could start by deleting those. Also, I know that you have x amount of free bandwith per month. If you are within a few days of your next month, you can just leave it until you get your "refill" of bandwith.

Hope this info isn't too basic. Good luck!

The same thing happened to me, I thought about deleteing some, but honestly, upgrading to pro is something like, $2.00 a month, so I did that, knowing that I would be uploading pics to there a lot in the future, so I figured it'd be worth it!

I upgraded to Photobucket PRO. I don't know how long it'll take before it fixes the problem, but hopefully soon. Can someone let me know once they see the pictures fine?

Thanks! I think going to eat at the Poly is an excellent way to start the vacation. Hope you get to try Kona soon, it was excellent!

Maybe Rafiki is more frisky when there are no kids around? I wouldn't be surprised if my bridal ears helped him get in that flirting mood. :cutie:

I really don't understand how come I don't get scared on Dinosaur. I'm someone who gets startled easily, yet all my dinosaur pictures I look perfectly fine. I love it though!

Ron did NOT want to ride anything by himself at first. Luckily, he soon realized that it really wasn't so bad, so we did that a few times throughout our trip.

Doing KP missions with a drink in hand was one of our goal this trip. :dance3:

I LOVED British Invasion. It ended up being one of my favorite moments of the trip. And I much prefer Queen over the Beatles.

I had never tried a GG slushie before, but now it's definitely on my list of must drinks for next trip.

What were they thinking, putting a table in front of a KP clue? Good for you for going for it. :rotfl:

I loved the golf ball too, fun! I think we ended up doing every country this trip, or at least all the ones we hadn't done before.

:welcome: Glad you're here! I just upgraded to PRO so hopefully the photobucket issue will be fixed soon.

What grade do you teach?

I do have a few pictures that I did not use, but not that many. And I'm only on day 5. :headache: Oh well, I upgraded to PRO now, hope it works!

You're right, it really isn't that expensive, and it's better than to go and having to open a new photobucket account every 4 days of my trip...

omg.. my kids went bananas for that kim possible mission! did it 4 times! looks like you liked it!

And i agree about the GGS! HEAVEN! I did not have my own as it was a thousand degrees in Sept and I was afraid of getting sick!!

Yay! Photobucket's back & I'm all caught up!

Next trip I really need to try the GG Lemon slush, I always go for orange!

Yay! I can go catch up now :thumbsup2

I teach 11th grade U.S. History right now and I'll be teaching 12th grade Economics for a few weeks as well. What did/do you teach?

It really was a fun mission. I can see why your kids loved it.

I thought it being so hot weather wise would make me want more alcoholic drinks, but turns out they did make me feel a bit sick. The first one was fine, but I got a second drink later and never finished it. Even Ron barely drank that day.

Yay! I haven't tried orange, but Ron tasted both and much preferred lemon.

Oh, I'd be scared to teach the teenagers!:rotfl: I teach grade 1 and grade 5 French second language. Grade 5 is as high as I'll go.

Glad you got your Photobucket situation figured out, I loved your World showcase pictures!

Yum, those slushies in France are so good! I think I like the orange one better than the lemonade one but they are both amazing! :thumbsup2

The Kim Possible missions look like so much fun, but I never do them! I always say I will on my next trip but I just end up skipping it!

*Sigh* Now I wish I was back in the World Showcase. I've been home for 2 weeks and already I want to go back to Disney World!

We bought our bags at Bentleys. They probably were on sale for around 20$, or buy one get half off. Don't remember the exact price, but they always have sales there. Ron did think his was a tiny bit too small (I knew it would be, he didn't listen to me. Men. :rolleyes1) And the only problem with mine is that the strap kept rubbing against my sunscreen and became very sticky . Not the bag's fault though...

Thanks for letting me know about Bentleys I'll check it out next time I'm in the mall. I think I might go to a mall sometimes between now and AUG.

I am so enjoying your World Showcase photos they are so sunny! When we went by the time we got to World Showcase the clouds started to roll in. All of our WS pictures look so gloomy or we are wearing rain ponchos.

Hope you get a chance to try KP on your next trip. The missions really are fun, and makes you focus on details in the countries that you rarely pay attention to.

I would hope that you'll find the time to go to a mall sometimes in the next 10 months.

It is great for photos when it's sunny. But thank god for stores and indoor attractions because it was HOT!! When this trip began I was hoping for sunshine everyday. After a few days, I was glad when it was overcast. :rotfl:
