Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

Real Life Update

Today was my first doctor appointment and we saw the baby's heartbeat! :cool1: Judging from the size, she thinks I'm more between 6 1/2 and 7 weeks pregnant, instead of being close to 8 weeks. I kinda figured it would be.

It was nice to have a visual confirmation by a doctor that yes, there is a baby that is growing inside me.

They did not have my blood test results though, so I still don't know if I'll have to go back to work.

Awww....how sweet that you were able to hear the baby's heartbeat. I am sure that you two were over the moon happy!

It was too early to hear it, we *saw* it. It's basically a flickering pixel on the screen. But hey, the doctor says it's the heart and I will believe her. :rotfl:

What an exciting time I'm so happy for the two of you! :goodvibes Now you have a few months to decide on a name. I'd go with Chewbacca :rotfl2: hey at least I didn't say R2D2.

Oh right! How brilliant you are going to have your baby in 6 months time! I hope you can give him or her a good name. If it's a boy then call him Frank or if it's a girl call her Susan.

That is such a wonderful moment to hear your baby's heartbeat for the first time:lovestruc

We didn't "hear" it yet, it's too early. Instead we "saw" it. It's basically a flickering pixel on the screen. But exciting nonetheless!! :cloud9:

Aww, what an exciting moment! I'm so happy for you two! :goodvibes

In a way Ron was kind of waiting for a "confirmation" by the doctor that I am indeed pregnant, so now he can finally believe it. :goodvibes

Yay for babies in da belly! So excited for you guys!!

Thanks! It is a very exciting time. :yay: Except in the morning....

We already have names picked out. Actually, if it's a girl I've had the name picked out ever since I was about 12, and have never wavered. And it's not Chewbacca. :rotfl2:

More like 7 and a half - 8 months to go, not 6 months. I meant I'm only a 6-7 weeks, not 8 weeks pregnant.

I do believe we have picked good names. But what we consider good names is different than what others would choose. My brother's name is a version of Frank, so no calling a boy that. I like names that are not too common. :)

Yay, I'm finally all caught up! :)

You guys are having such a blast it seems. I hope my Disneymoon is like yours...getting in lots of rides but some sleeping in and down time, too. I love how you took advantage of so many PP photographers! You got a ton of good shots!

I'm along for the rest of the ride now :thumbsup2

Real Life Update - Chinese Lanterns

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. The pregnancy nausea really kicked my butt! Fortunately, I saw my doctor last week and she prescribed to me these anti-nausea pills. It took a few days, but they have finally started to work and I feel a lot more like myself again. I don't feel *great*, but at least good enough to go on about my day.

Saturday was the first day I felt better, so we went out to do several things. One of them was visiting the Chinese Lanterns Festival at Montreal's Botanical Garden. It happens every year in September & October and we knew DD (Ron's daughter) really wanted to visit.

It was a nice but really cold night, so I thought it wouldn't be too full of people. WRONG! It was PACKED!! We had to park at a further away lot, and waited over half an hour just to pay to get in! Oh well, at least it was beautiful, as always. DD & Ron took several pictures, so here they are. I cheated a bit and included pictures from last year. Some of the lanterns were the same, but the main display changes every time.

Enjoy!

These were all taken before you enter the actual Chinese Garden.

There are several buildings spread across the garden.

We walked around the main path and saw several displays.

The main and most impressive display is set up on the lake that is in the middle of the Chinese Garden. This year's theme was the Emperor coming back triumphant.

I had thought about wearing a warm coat and layering, but forgot about boots. After about an hour my feet were freezing so we left.

DD really wanted her own lantern. Unfortunately it broke on the way to the car. :headache: Ron and DD spent most of Sunday afternoon trying to fix it. I think they got it to work again.

Next year I want to go during the first weekend, hoping it's not going to be as packed. We'd go on a week night, but DD is not with us so we can't.

I should be back with a Disney update in the next few days.

Wow, those are gorgeous! I love displays like that, but I have never seen one of paper lanterns. Just stunning. :lovestruc

God that Chinese lights festival is bloody brilliant! Wish I could've gone there, looks so amazing!

The festival looks awesome! All the displays are so beautiful!

I like DD's lantern, I'm they got it working again :thumbsup2

Wow! The chinese lantern festival looks beautiful! I can't believe some of those displays.

They really are stunning!

I actually preferred last year because they had a lot more dragons and lions displays, but every year is beautiful nonetheless.

awesome looking lanterns....that would be a great festival to go to

Montreal has so many great festivals year round, including this one.

It is a great festival that has been going on for many many years.

DD is OBSESSED with everything Japan right now, and Asian things in general. I'm glad they got her lantern working again too. Plus, it was almost like a science project, trying to fix it. :goodvibes

You'll not the only one who has someone obessed with anything from Japan, Rommel. My younger sister has recently gotten into Naruto which is an overrated anime that I hate so much. Ever since she got the first manga book on Naruto for her b-day, she just can't stop watching it and talking about it. It's annoying I'm telling you. It's all she thinks about and she compares everything she sees to that stupid show I really don't see how so many people could be obessed with what the country provides in the media rather than appericate Japan's beauty with it's many gardens or the stage theatre that it has. Now don't get me wrong animes and video games I don't mind having from that country but what I do mind is that people want to go there just because they provide those things to the west.

To be honest I would want to go to Japan on what it has to offer in terms of experience not go there because it's got things that benefit my own tastes but that's just me anyway.

REAL LIFE UPDATE

As you may or may not know, I've been off work ever since I learned I was pregnant, in case I'm not immune to a few diseases like fifth disease. Well I just got a call from the doctor's office and turns out I'm immune to ALL of them. That means I need to go back to work. :sad2: I miss my students and the entire staff and I'm happy to see them all again, but I was really enjoying the time off at home, being able to visit my mom at lunch instead of during rush hour, etc. Plus, I've had lots of nausea and though the pills have helped, I still have bad days.

Oh well, it is what it is. At least I got the news late enough today that I'll only go back on Thursday. Well I hope. So much work ahead of me, with being absent for a month AND having to do report cards right away.

I'll try my best to get in an update tomorrow, but otherwise expect me to not be so present in the next few weeks, while I get readjusted to school and everything.
