Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

You'll not the only one who has someone obessed with anything from Japan, Rommel. My younger sister has recently gotten into Naruto which is an overrated anime that I hate so much. Ever since she got the first manga book on Naruto for her b-day, she just can't stop watching it and talking about it. It's annoying I'm telling you. It's all she thinks about and she compares everything she sees to that stupid show I really don't see how so many people could be obessed with what the country provides in the media rather than appericate Japan's beauty with it's many gardens or the stage theatre that it has. Now don't get me wrong animes and video games I don't mind having from that country but what I do mind is that people want to go there just because they provide those things to the west.

To be honest I would want to go to Japan on what it has to offer in terms of experience not go there because it's got things that benefit my own tastes but that's just me anyway.

Well at least DD seems to be obsessed with everything Japan. Yes she watches several anime and manga, but she also is interested in learning how to speak and wants to live there later. She likes the culture, the architecture, all of it.

I have some free time now, so I'm gonna write the next update.

Good luck with the transition back to work, and I'm glad you are immune!

Thanks. The transition will be rough, but at least it'll be Christmas soon enough.

As much as I would have enjoyed spending the next 7-8 months at home, it does make me feel safer to know that I can go out shopping and be around my friends' kids without being afraid of getting sick.

Day 5 part 3 - More World Showcase, And Some Bad News
August 15th, 2011

Once we finally made our way to World Showcase we did two Kim Possible Missions and watch the awesome British Revolution (or Invasion?) rock group. It was so nice and sunny that day. Translation, we were freaking HOT. We needed a way to get out of the heat.

We went back to France to go watch the movie, but we just missed it. We decided to get a snack from the Patisserie while waiting for the next show. I got a very tasty chocolate mousse while Ron got a simple croissant. It was nice speaking French with the employees! We were lucky enough to get one of those tables inside the souvenir store so we could take advantage of the AC a little.

After we were done we quickly walked to Impressions de France, only to realize that we had just missed it again. The guy was super nice and let us in anyway.

France is not one high on my list of country I'd like to visit, but the movie was very pretty. most of all, I LOVED the music. I had already been listening to it from Disney Radio and it is one of my favorite soundtrack of all Disney.

While we were watching the movie my brother had texted me so I called him back. Since my mom is sick I tried my best to call her every two days while we were on vacation. Well the day before I had tried to contact both my brother and step-dad to see who was with her. My step-dad's phone was closed and he had only replied to me hours later, saying he had just gotten the message. That was a bit weird, but I didn't think too much of it. My brother had texted me back saying he would be with her the next day and he would call me.

I got in touch with him and he asks me "Please promise me you won't panic". Uh! Oh! That doesn't sound too good! Turns out my mom was in the hospital since 2 days before. They didn't tell me right away so as not to stress me out. Twice I go on vacation that year, and twice she ends up in the hospital! Can you say I'm stressed to go anywhere far anymore? yet my brother goes on business trips every month and she's fine. Ugh!

Anyway, turns out she got Zona, an infection. She was highly contagious, but at least she had no fever and no pain whatsoever. I couldn't talk to her yet, but she should be out a few days later. Phew!

Not much I can do about it anyway, and she was not in any danger, so with that news in mind we got our Kimmunicators reactivated and went on another mission, this time in Japan. We had done it 2 years before, but it wasn't totally the same.

As we walk through Japan we notice that Yakitori House is closed for refurb. It's really too bad, because that's what I was in the mood for dinner. Bummer. Ron wants to watch the Japanese Drummers, so we do that for a while.

By that time I was in the mood for another alcoholic drink. I knew exactly what I wanted, so we quickly walked through all the countries, only stopping to get FPs for Maelstrom. In Mexico I get my coveted frozen Margarita, and it's... Not Good! I was so looking forward to this drink, but it tasted way too much alcohol. Even Ron thought it was quite strong. I'm so disappointed.

Oh well. Something that I know won't disappoint, the air conditioning, so in we go. Aaaaaah!! We do another KP mission. Another one we had done before, but it's one of my favorite! Most of the effects are the same as last time, but the guitar is different and fun!

There is no line for the Gran Fiesta and I think it's a really cute ride so we do it.

We get front row! Time to put our feet up. I took LOTS of pics in here.

Adios Amigos! Let's go visit the vikings next!

Up Next, Vikings, And A Gorgeous Sunset

I love the fiesta ride. That donald pinata is sooo cute :lovestruc I almost bought one on our last trip but I decided against it.

My mom got one of those margaritas on our last trip together. It smelled awfully strong ! I will not be getting that on our next trip. I am sorry you didn't like it.

Oh World Showcase & it's heat!! pixiedust: (in that case, ignore the magic, that would be me exploding from the hotness) :rotfl: I don't know what it is, but it always seems like while in WS, it's the hottest of the days I'm there, must be the lack of shade, and the limited amount of sitting.

Also, I agree on the margaritas being too powerful, and I LOOOOVE my tequila, it's my shot of choice! I had a fiesta margarita and it was just too much! I had to throw it out by the time we got to China & I was just about half done, I def would have been tipsy had I finished it. At least you get the amount of booze you pay for!

Great update! World Showcase can be killer in the heat, and I guess I won't be trying one of those margaritas now. Can't be walking around tipsy with my family. :rotfl:

Yuck on the heat, and your Mom going into the hospital while you are on vacation. Actually, yuck on her having to go in the hospital at all! But great update. Looking forward to the next one, whenever you get the chance to get it up around all the work craziness.

The margaritas are hit or miss... which is weird cause they are pre-mixed :confused3

Ben got one at the tequila bar that was so strong it took him all the way around to finish it (he will never throw away food or alcohol and will make himself sick eating/drinking something he doesn't like). I had several drinks in the time it took him, and he was still more tipsy than I was!

Whoa! Dear god! I've just seen a picture those Margaitas that you had and man they really are awful. Well that's one thing I won't be trying when I go back to the Mexican pavilion. Still didn't get a sombreo while I was there oh well I guess there's next time I guess.

Congrats on your pregnancy being confirmed, and getting to go back to work! Is there a reason they thought you might not be immune to fifth disease, (if you don't mind my asking, if I'm being too nosy, I apologize!)?

Great Epcot update! I'm sorry your mom was in the hospital, that always freaks me out when I'm on vacation, that something bad is going to happen at home! :goodvibes

I really like the France movie, and the soundtrack is beautiful! Mexico is always fun, I can't believe you didn't like your margarita, I love those! Did you get one from La Cava? They are the best!

I haven't even started teaching again (tomorrow), but I've been out and about all day, including two hours at school trying to catch up on lost time and boy am I tired!:coffee:

I think World Showcase always seems hotter because we usually get there smack dab in the middle of the day, when we're done doing the attractions in Future World in the cooler hours of the morning. While it's great to visit at night, there are not enough hours! And yeah, lots of walking... Phew!

Maybe I'm just not cut off for margaritas? Every time I've had one in a regular restaurant I always find it too strong. :confused3

Several DISers love those margaritas, so don't just rely on my review. Though if you have to choose just one, then go for the grey goose instead!

It was very stressful to have my mom in the hospital, but at least I knew this time it wasn't for anything too serious. She's much better now!

I stopped by work today and the woman who replaced me caught me up on stuff. So overwhelming! It is going to be madness for a few weeks. Add to that car shopping, and... :faint

I guess I was not lucky then. Too bad! It is true that it's weird something pre-mixed would not be consistent... :confused3

Guys, they are like garbage-disposal. Can't let anything go to waste! :rotfl2:

Those sombreros are fun! I tried one two years ago, but not this time. Way too big for my head! :rotfl:

I don,t mind you asking. :goodvibes Basically any teacher or child care worker that gets pregnant is immediately taken out of work and must pass a blood test to see if they are immune. We don't get any vaccine for this so there is no way of knowing if someone is immune, unless of course they have already taken the test. You only go back to work after you get the result, which took 4 weeks for me.

I was already a bit nervous after Cuba since my mom got VERY sick during that time, but I just can't put my entire life on hold for god knows how long. So we went to Disney and hoped for the best. It was stressful, but at least it wasn't too serious this time.

Too bad I was unlucky with the margarita. I got it from the kiosk outside. Maybe I would have had more luck inside La Cava?

I'm glad you're immune and amazed that Canada lets you stay home during that time! I was teaching here while pregnant with Brynn and just had to hope for the best. And then when I was pregnant with Sawyer, I was exposed to Fifths Disease when our neighbor had it. I panicked. I then had to go get blood work because we had no idea if I was immune or not. Turns out I was NOT immune, but I also never got Fifths Disease from her. Phew! It only took two days to get my results, though--I'd be freaking out if it had taken four weeks!! Not long til Christmas!

Those sombreros are fun! I tried one two years ago, but not this time. Way too big for my head! :rotfl:

Before I say this I wanna know: did you read about my visit to Epcot? I know you haven't had a lot of time what with you been cooped up in your house because of your illness but I'm just curious is all. It will mention that I did try on a Sombrero while I was in the Mexican Pavilion and I did try on a medium sized and yes they are a lot of fun to wear.

So I started work again. The staff and students were all very excited to see me, and made going back to work a little easier. I didn't too nauseous at work, though I was sick one morning before leaving. I've been very tired though, and have been taking it pretty easy so far.

I have to say I'm feeling kinda depressed and stressed right now. It's so weird how the same class and students that I absolutely LOVED and had many amazing plans for just over a month ago I feel kinda "meh" about right now. I never thought being pregnant would change my focus so much. Now I just don't have the energy to devote to them, not to mention how I fear the stress of teaching will be bad for my baby. I don't know what to do. :sad1:

I'm sorry I haven't updated lately, and it might be a while before I update again. I just have zero energy or enthusiasm at the moment. I will try to get it together soon, as I hate feeling down like this. I have been reading all of your trip reports, but rarely comment. Hope I don't lose too many readers because of this little set back.

Wow, that must have been scary to get to close to fifth disease and know you were not immune. I guess that's the one good thing about being immune; I don't have to worry about catching it from a random kid touching the same things as me at the grocery store, or the child of one of my friends exposing me to it. It's a double-edge sword that Canada lets us stay home. On one hand, it's great if you are not immune. On the other hand, it gave me very big false hopes and now I have to work again. Thank god Christmas is soon, and that there are several ped days in between!!!

I did read all of your trip report. However, I was feeling pretty nauseous the whole time so I don't remember everything. Hope you get to buy the sombrero you want some day.

Don't worry about losing readers. We're here and will stay here until you feel like updating. Being pregnant does all sorts of wonky things with your emotions and it certainly does drain you like nothing else can. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Thanks Lisa! I feel like such a Debbie Downer with my previous post, but I guess it's too be expected that my emotions would play trick on me with all the hormonal changes happening within me. Thanks again for keeping me in your thoughts, it means a lot to me.

Hugs! Being a pregnant teacher, I completely understand!

I have to keep reminding myself that thousands of other teachers have done it before. If you have any tips on how to handle being a pregnant teacher I would truly appreciate it. Or just going through it together and being each other's moral support would be great too. I forgot, how far along are you?

While I have never been pregnant, just knowing the affects it has on your body and hormones I am not surprised at all that you aren't feeling so enthusiastic about returning to work! I'm sure that getting back in the routine will help some at least.

And, as Lisa said, we will all still be here whenever you feel up to doing updates again. :grouphug:
