You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

All caught up again girls!! LOL

I don't blame you Kristen, I don't trust Chad on the tea cups either! He and Hollie like to make the teacup spin as fast as it can! :lmao:

I haven't read the whole thread, yet - but I just wanted to say how great it is you've struck up a friendship through the DIS! I have made 3 close friends myself (under another screen name, obviously) from the boards and we try and meet up a few times a year. This year we've been lucky and its been 3 times. Its amazing to find good friends who share an obsession for all things Disney! Sometimes we meet up with our husbands and kids, sometimes we just do a girls trip to Food & Wine. GOOD times!:thumbsup2

Great update! I loved the pics from around Pop, we stay there every time we go so it's kind of our Disney home :goodvibes I also liked spying on the old buildings before they started working on them. I am so glad they're finally doing something over on that side of Pop!

I know exactly what you mean about the flatbread -- I got that once, too, and it tasted too strongly of something to me :confused3 I don't even know what!

July 23, 2010 *continued*
Sorry I haven’t been around lately! This Christmas break has been hectic and has been flying by! Fiancé got the job he interviewed for! So, he will get to still live with me while I go to school and he’ll be working first shift. We are currently looking around at bigger apartments in town!

*Back to the trip*

My group left off riding the monorail from the MK to the Contemporary for some relaxing. We all were getting hungry, so we decided to grab something to eat at Contempo Café. Of course, Fiancé and I both had to get the beef flatbread again-it was so good! While we were eating, it started pouring out. I was thankful that we had only had to deal with rain this day of our trip.

After we were done, Uncle, Little Guy, Cuz, Grandma, and Grandpa all went up to their rooms to take a nap. The rest of us stayed on the Concourse Level and looked around the gift shops. I’m still getting used to the arcade being where the other shop used to be!

By this time, it had stopped raining, so we went outside on the observation deck to take in the MK view. I could sit there all day. Then, we made our way onto the BLT walkway. I was so excited to show Mom, Dad, and Sis the views from up there. They thought it all looked neat. We made our way into the building and just looked around that floor before heading down the hallway to the stairs. As we made outside, we realized that we were out by the BLT pool. I had remember seeing pics on the DIS from several TR’s, so it was neat to finally see it in person. Of course, we couldn’t go all the way in there because you had to have a room key.

Before heading up to our room, Fiancé and I stopped for another pic in the Mickey ears:

Once we got up to the room, Sis took a nap while Fiancé and I sat out on our balcony and Mom and Dad started taking some stuff to the car since we were switching over to OKW the next morning. As we sat on the balcony, we could see it getting darker and darker and pretty soon we ran inside and watched the wall of rain come towards us. Before we ran inside, we were just enjoying the sounds…the boats’ horns, people laughing in the pool, just those “WDW” sounds. I looked at Fiancé and told him, “I don’t want to ever leave..” Of course, I had to remind myself, I have to leave to come back.

The views from the balcony:

As if they perfectly timed this, as we watched the rain finally make it’s way here, Mom and Dad texted Fiancé and I to tell us that they were down at the Outer Rim having a drink if we wanted to come meet them. Of course we said yeah! We had such a nice waitress. She kept telling us how fun we seemed and that she was sensing good energy from us. Okay then..lol. I was dying for a Bloody Mary..once I finished that, I had a Raspberry Rain, which some of you may remember I had over at the Poly back on my Spring Break trip with Fiancé. I made Mom try some of it since she saw pictures of it and I had told her all about it.

While we were sitting there, Grandma comes walking up! She had woken up from her nap, but everyone else was still sleeping, so she came down and was shopping. A few minutes later, Sis texted me asking me where we all were. She got ready and came down too. So, we all sat there for awhile talking until we got a text from Uncle saying that the rest of the group was up and ready to swim since it had stopped raining.

By this time, we decided just to hang by the pool the rest of the night since Little Guy was enjoying swimming so much. Uncle did some laundry, then met us out there. While we were at the pool, Mom and Sis went up to Contempo Café to grab some snacks. Little Guy had to have his right away:

He ate Mickey’s ear off and I said to him, “Oh no! How is Mickey going to hear now?” Little Guy remembered that I wear a hearing aid and said, “It’s okay. Mickey can get a hearing aid.” We all laughed and I said that was a good idea.

Of course, Fiancé and Little Guy spent most of their time going down the slide. But, for awhile, we were able to get Little Guy to swim around and eventually got him to swim by himself! He only would do it by the steps, but it was progress!

momdisney192.jpg

After spending hours down by the pool, we decided it was finally time to get out around 8:45 and get something quick to eat at Contempo Café before calling it a night. On the elevator ride up, Sis got a picture of Little Guy holding me in the elevator to make me feel better:

akdisney392.jpg

That’s when I got teary-eyed. I didn’t want them to go home yet. I didn’t want this week to be over yet. We were all having the time of our lives.

And now..here comes one of the random memories from the trip that we’ll never forget. Of course, once Little Guy was all ready, Fiancé went over and brought him back to our room while everyone else finished getting ready. He started out playing and tackling Fiancé:

akdisney393.jpg

Then, it turned into a flip-flop war with Dad:

akdisney394.jpg

Then, they turned into Power Rangers. Dad said to him right before this pic, “So you’re the yellow ranger?” And Little Guy says, “No. I’m the golden one!” LOL:

akdisney396.jpg

The whole time Dad and Little Guy were playing and fighting, we were all laughing so hard we were crying. By the time we were all ready to head down to eat, our stomachs hurt from laughing.

I told Fiancé that I wanted a Chicken Caesar Salad, so he ordered that for me while I sat at the table with Little Guy. He spent most of the meal coloring:

akdisney399.jpg

Then, we had to break the news to him that we were leaving the next morning. We told him we were leaving too, but really we were going to switch over to OKW. I felt so bad. We all got in the elevator to go up to the room and I got teary-eyed again. Our last elevator ride up to our room…I’m teary-eyed just typing this and thinking about it again.

~Up next: The hardest morning ever

Disney sounds are such a great part of a trip - kids splashing in the pools, families laughing together, music playing in the background everywhere you go, water lapping up on the beach. I love the sounds of Disney World.

By this time, we decided just to hang by the pool the rest of the night since Little Guy was enjoying swimming so much.

Those are some of the nicest times - just hanging out with the family and talking. With our trip getting shortened this summer, I think this is something I will miss a lot - the chance to have a lot of down time.

That’s when I got teary-eyed. I didn’t want them to go home yet. I didn’t want this week to be over yet. We were all having the time of our lives.

It is truly sad to have to part.

I love this picture.

Well, I'm not one to let my friends cry alone, so

I know you said your grandparents would not be going any more (which makes me cry even more :sad1:), but when will Little Guy go with you again?

Love the updates! Tink I understand that feeling. 2 trips ago my Mum and Dad went home early and I got the same feelings when my Mum left. Dad can take or leave Disney but Mum was in tears when we left her and i just wanted her to stay the extra week with us. Didnt help that the girls were crying as they wanted Granny to stay too.

But you are right. You have to leave to come back!

Whew I had a lot to catch up on but I finally did it!! I was teary eyed almost the whole time!! There is something just so magical about WDW and I felt like I was there with you guys! I could hear the sounds and smell the Poly (yum!) practically!! I'm so glad you guys got to make these memories together!!

I'm so grateful that we are all so lucky that these trips aren't once in a lifetime!! Here's to a million more memories at the happiest place on earth!

Oh dang, Ladies, I had really hoped I'd have time to read this before I headed out the door for the night. I'll have to catch up sometime during the weekend- meantime, be safe.

Thanks for reading, MeMom! I love hearing music everywhere you go too! :)

You're right, that is some of the nicest times!

It was so hard to say goodbye! Thanks for crying with me. :) Obviously, he won't be with on the honeymoon trip, but we hope to take him along with Uncle again soon!

I love that picture too. He was concentrating pretty hard!

And you're right..it is easier saying goodbye to WDW when you know you'll be back soon!

Hi Liesa! Hope to see you back here catching up! And hope everything is going well your way!

Nooooo! It's time for them to go already?! :sad1::sad1:

It sounds like yall definitely had such a magical trip full of amazing memories though <3

Time to move on to OKW! I'm excited to see if yall ended up in the same spot as last year!

Hey girls!! I haven't posted on your TR in forever but I am just checking in to say I am still loving it and am all caught up now! I had a break from the DIS but I am back now so yay!

Tinkgurlfriend, so happy that your fiance got that job!

I love your Ariel tee.

This update almost made me cry... all your time at the Contemporary just put me right back there and the mention of the sounds of WDW, how you have to remind yourself you have to leave to come back, how you had tears in your eyes about having to leave soon... I experience all these things too every single time. It's all so bittersweet and amazing.

Those pics of Little Guy and your Dad are SO ADORABLE!! I can imagine how hard you were laughing. Tooo cute.

Hi girls, glad to see another update from you both!

Kristen, the photo's from Pop look so cool,:thumbsup2 I definitely think its weird about an entire block of abandoned rooms but can't wait to see the new animation resort! I'm another 80's girl but never heard of the koosh ball!

Tink, looks like you totally enjoyed spending time at the resort, you can really sense from your trip and photo's what a close knit family you are and I intend to incorporate some resort time into my next trip as opposed to theme park commando girl which is my norm...those cocktails sound very good! :cool1:

looking forward to reading more! :goodvibes

Thanks for the photos around the Contemporary. I've never stayed there, so don't really know what's around it. For example, the Mickey sculpture thing...I've seen it in loads of TRs, but I have no idea where it is exactly.

I don't know very much about OKW either, so I'm looking forward to your report from there. popcorn::

Great update, Tink!! I felt like I was emotionally there with you-- made me teary! There's nothing worse than leaving WDW-- or some of your favorite people leaving you (even if you still get to stay at Disney!). I hope you still enjoyed your stay at OKW, though!
I know what you mean about the "sounds" of Disney! It's crazy how a theme park can be so magical!

Hey girl thanks for reading! I can't believe it's time for them to go either! Even though the TR is moving slow, it seems like it has been flying by!

Hey disneygirlfriend! Glad you got caught up!

Thanks we are all happy he got the job.

Thanks I love that shirt too! I saw it at Hot Topic and had to have it.

I'm so glad you and so many other people can understand my love for WOW.

Ha, those pictures make me laugh still!

Hey! You're right we are a close family.

I hope you can make some resort time your next trip. It is nice to relax.

Hi glennbo! Thanks for reading.

Glad to help you out with the resort pics. I love sharing them. The Mickey sculpture is outside not too far from the pool. It is easy to find!

I know what you mean about the "sounds" of Disney! It's crazy how a theme park can be so magical!

Thanks for reading! Like I said, I just love the DIS for the very reason that people like you and others understand my love for WOW!

Little Guy is such a sweetheart holding you in the elevator! That is adorable.

So sad that they all have to leave. :( I can't even imagine how hard that was for you!

It's hard to break up a party! Especially one that's having such a nice time at WDW together! but look at all the fun memories you made before they had to leave? Power ranger flip-flop fights, yummy meals at the cafe, solo swimming fears tackled, so many!!!

Looking forward to the next phase of you adventures!!

Awww how sad that their vacation came to an end so fast, I can't even imagine how hard that must have been for the rest of you guys.

The power ranger pictures are adorable, and must have made for some great last night of the trip pics.

Can't wait for more:goodvibes

You're right, we did make a lot of great memories. Memories that we will never forget. Just wish the week would've went by slower.

We didn't think it would be hard, but man oh man, it was HARD.

haha, The power ranger pictures still make us laugh to this day!

Hope to have another update soon! :)

Aww, I can't believe it's time for their vacation to end already! I've looked forward to seeing all of the little guy's reactions.

You really have me wanting to go see those Mickey ears at the Contemporary for a picture. I've never seen them, but you have so many cute pics there from all your TRs.
