You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

Then, it was the moment I was dreading..saying goodbye. Everyone was crying at this point. Even Fiancé had tears coming. We were crying for so many reasons. Because it was seriously the best trip. Ever. Because it was so much fun showing WDW to Little Guy and seeing his reactions. Because it was Grandma and Grandpa’s last time ever coming to WDW.

Tears for me just thinking of your morning. I'm already dreading saying goodbye to Trent on this trip, and we haven't even gotten there yet.

Old Key West is so pretty.

Aww goodbyes are so hard, especially after an amazing trip. I'm glad you guys all were able to experience your best trip together.

The pictures of OKW make me miss it, I really liked it when we went. You had a nice view from your room! LOL at your sis!

I was just thinking about you girls! Great update Tink (as usual). I can't imagine how difficult it was for you to say goodbye to Little Guy! I have had some incredible memories at WDW... but none hold up to the ones I have with DS. But, you know it won't be his last time going so you can look forward to the next times.

I'm glad you had such a wonderful trip with your whole family. It's great your grandparents were able to add to those special memories. :)

Like Tink said, so sorry for the delay! I started school again yesterday and Tink’s been back for a week now. Today should have been day 2 of classes but they were canceled due to the weather! I’m sooooo done with this winter we are having! Before I update I just want to add something quickly about our next trip. Chris’ schedule at work was recently changed (for the better) but it threw off the dates we had planned for May/June. The old dates were May 31-June 8 but we changed them last weekend to June 3-11. If we kept the old dates, he wouldn’t have had enough vacation time! So this way works much better except for one thing…we lost BCV. Instead of the DVC CM just canceling the first 3 days of our reservation and adding the last 3, she canceled the whole reservation. As soon as that was done, our reservation days immediately went to someone who was waitlisted. I was sooo upset at first but my friend who we are renting points from got us Old Key West for the 8 nights now instead! While we are still kind of upset to miss out on BCV and Stormalong Bay, OKW is going to be amazing! Anyway, I just uploaded my pictures from this day of the trip and realized I only have about 15 of them! Crazy! So my update will be short!

The original plan for Chris and I was to wake up around 9 and go to Blizzard Beach which opened at 10. Well I believe we decided before bed the night before that BB just wasn’t in the cards because I felt like total GARBAGE! I was pretty upset about it but we just decided to sleep in the following morning, hang out around Pop for a while and play the afternoon by ear. We ended up sleeping until 10:00 the next morning. It felt really good to sleep in and my sick self needed it. What wasn’t good was that Chris woke up feeling pretty junky too. I could hear it in his voice he was all nasally and his nose started to run like a faucet, just like mine. So now we were both sick, on our vacation. It was okay though, we didn’t let it get to us! Since we now just were lounging for the morning, we got a few bags and threw our dirty laundry in them and went to get some of that out of the way. We got on our bathing suits and cover ups and headed down to the laundry room by the Hippy Dippy Pool. The washing machines run for a half an hour so we put our dirty laundry in and went to grab some breakfast at the Pop food court. Chris got an omlet with potatoes and I got a ham, egg and cheese croissant. We picked up some grapes and an orange for our snacks.

When we were done it was time to go put our laundry into the dryers. We walked into the laundry room LITERALLY 32 minutes after we started the machines and some lady was moving Chris’ laundry! I got SOOOO angry! I understand all the machines were full and she obviously had laundry to do but it wasn’t like we left the wet clothes in there for even 10 or 15 minutes after the machine stopped it was TWO MINUTES. I started saying something to the lady telling her don’t touch other people’s things but when she smiled at me I realized she didn’t speak English. I was fuming. I didn’t feel well, and I hate doing laundry so she just really annoyed me! Vent over. Anyway, we moved our things into dryers and ended up getting a broken dryer that wouldn’t shut off so we got almost an hour of drying for free! While we waited for everything to dry, we laid by the pool and swam intermitently. Soon the laundry was done so we folded that and brought it back up to the room. We came back to the pool and enjoyed some drinks from Petals and a little more swimming.

Eventually I was feeling really tired again and so was Chris. So, we packed up our things and headed back up to the room where we read, relaxed and napped in the room. It sounds like such a boring, do nothing morning but really, it was soooo needed!

Sorry that was so boring but I’m going to stop here because I don’t want to get into the nighttime events yet! Stay tuned!

Awwww splitting up and saying goodbye is so sad :sad1:
Too funny that you ate at Earl's for breakfast and lunch! I would have too!! Love it there....best bread and sandwiches anywhere :thumbsup2

Great view at OKW....it would be fun to watch the golfers....even though I don't golf  I would be the one on the course throwing clubs and stomping on the ground :rotfl:

Kristen--that really, really stinks about BCV....you were so excited to stay there  Well...it will just have to be another time, another trip :thumbsup2
Well, at least at OKW you will have free laundry!! If my points allow I try to stay in a one bedroom and the washing machine/dryer are in the room....if not I always take advantage of doing laundry at the resort too...this last trip I walked by the laundry room to go to my room, saw a woman sitting in there, got my stuff and then left it there.....went to the pool for quite a long time...came back and she was still there. I could never waste that much time sitting there waiting for it to be done like she was :sad2:

Oh and this snow really needs to stop. Really :sad2:

Tracy

Awww, saying goodbye is so sad!

It sounds like you had a great day at DTD though! Can't beat a good discount and Earl of Sandwich for breakfast and lunch! I haven't had a sandwich from Earl yet!! I did have breakfast there in Dec though! it was very good!

Kristen, I totally agree with you about this winter! I'm soo done with it already!!!

It stinks that you couldn't get BCV for your reservation!!! But, I agree with Tracy! You just have to save it for another trip ;)

It sounds like you had a fabulously relaxing day by the pool! I hope it helped you recover from your colds!

Aww, that first part was so sad! I can imagine how emotional it must have been for you and your family! Your OKW pictures are great-- it's a gorgeous resort!
Kristen, I can't believe what that CM did! OKW is still beautiful, and I'm sure you'll get to stay at BCV at some point, but it seems like such a big mistake for them to make! As far as your lazy morning-- sounds relaxing! I feel like a lot of us forget to do that in Disney!

Hey tinkgurlfriend...love the update!! Oh my goodness, it made me so emotional! I have tears in my eyes, seriously! It must have been so hard to leave them, but you are so lucky you had a whole other week at Disney. One week is so nowhere near enough time.

OKW is really beautiful. Did you love it there? It's not somewhere I'm dying to try, but I would still love to stay there.

I LOVE those Mickey railings. My 9th grade Italian teacher had them AT HER HOUSE, which she told me in class b/c I talked about Disney the whole time. My friend lived in her neighborhood so we went trick or treating at her house and I was freaking out over the mickey heads and took pictures haha, I thought it was the coolest thing ever and vowed to have that done to my house when I was older, too.

Kristen - I can't believe that they didn't keep the last three days of your reservation at BCV! I would be talking to a supervisor about that or something. I don't like to make a big stink about things but that's really unfair. Still, Disney Magic works in mysterious ways... I bet you will have a beyond amazing time at OKW.

I'm so sorry you were sick at WDW. That happened to me when I was 14, thank God only for one day, but still I was so upset so I know how you feel. It's good that you slept late. I always push myself so hard at WDW to try and take advantage of every possible second, but there's always that one day my body says no and I end up sleeping a lot or just lazing around. It makes the next day, when I'm rested, SO much better.

I can't believe that lady moved your wash! I would be soooo pissed too!

Kristen, that stinks that you and Chris were sick on vaca...but it sounds like you made the best of it. I love those days that we spend relaxing at the resort. We try to do that a few times during our 9 days that we're there. We take time to hang out by the pool, I browse the gift shop which I love to do (I probably do it 20 times while I'm there), DH takes a nap, and we just soak up the time together. Now that my parents are older, they insist on alternating between the parks and resorts. Sometimes we plan 2 days in between and we do a back to back while they hang back and do other things.

That also totally stinks about your trip in June! I know how excited you were about BCV. I've never seen OKW...but Tinks pics make it look amazing. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time anyway :) And, it gives you just one more reason to go back another time :cool1:

OH, it's always so sad to see the party get split because some have to leave. Booooo! And I can totally see how you'd have a hard time getting excited for the next week. but, I know you did- eventually.

You had a wonderful view right on the golf course, VERY pretty!

Score on the last customer of the sale!! Nice!!:banana:

Hi Liesa! I apologize for getting behind on your TR!! Thanks for reading along!

Yeah, it was hard to part, and while we did have fun the second week, things just weren't the same.

It was a beautiful view! I loved sitting out there every morning.

We were lucky!

Aww, the end of a trip is always so sad! :sad2: Sounds like you were able to squeeze in some last-minute fun though.

Your ornament is super cute and I love the OKW pictures. Can't wait until March!

I cried even typing that update! haha

Thanks girl! And I'm so jealous of you and Kristen!

I've reading your TR since day one and I even went back and read some of your older TR's! You and your fiance remind me a lot of my BF and I:) Earl of Sandwich is the ABSOLUTE best TS in WDW. My BF and I absolutely love it! It's a must do every trip.

Wow, you're a dedicated reader! Thanks so much! I love being able to share my trips!

Earl is pretty hard to beat!

Tears for me just thinking of your morning. I'm already dreading saying goodbye to Trent on this trip, and we haven't even gotten there yet.

Old Key West is so pretty.

Aw, MeMom! I knew you'd feel my pain.

Yes, OKW is such a great Resort!

Aww goodbyes are so hard, especially after an amazing trip. I'm glad you guys all were able to experience your best trip together.

The pictures of OKW make me miss it, I really liked it when we went. You had a nice view from your room! LOL at your sis!

It was the trip we'll never forget!

There will be more OKW pics in future updates, so hopefully that will give you a "fix".

I wish we had it on tape how fast I ducked down! haha

I was just thinking about you girls! Great update Tink (as usual). I can't imagine how difficult it was for you to say goodbye to Little Guy! Thanks for reading! It was definitely hard. And now he keeps talking about going back. I wish we could this year, but I don't think we're going to be able to! And I'm so glad I was able to share all those memories with all of you!

Tears and sadness reading your update. Can't wait to eat at Earl in 4 weeks!

Hi Jill! I wish I could be going with you! haha

Awwww splitting up and saying goodbye is so sad :sad1:

It was just hard not to pass up the chance to eat at Earl's both times!

OKW is beautiful! And I'd be the one giving up and throwing my ball! haha

Awww, saying goodbye is so sad!

It sounds like you had a great day at DTD though! Can't beat a good discount and Earl of Sandwich for breakfast and lunch! I haven't had a sandwich from Earl yet!! I did have breakfast there in Dec though! it was very good!

It was hard to do!

It was a great day at DTD! You HAVE to get to Earl for a sandwich!

Aww, that first part was so sad! I can imagine how emotional it must have been for you and your family! Your OKW pictures are great-- it's a gorgeous resort!

It was hard to enjoy the morning, but we had our fun.

Thanks! I love OKW so much!

Hey disneygirlfriend! I am so sorry we haven't been in touch for awhile!

I had tears just typing! You're right, I was lucky to have another week there.

I LOVE OKW. This was our 3rd time staying there now. I know I want to try staying at other Resorts, but it's hard to stay anywhere else! haha

Oh my gosh, I am jealous of your teacher!! I am so making fiance make them when we have a house. haha

Aw Kristen I'm sorry about the DVC points fiasco! You're gonna like OKW though, it's such a pretty and quiet resort :goodvibes

That's happened to me with my laundry before in my building. Only there were about 6 EMPTY machines on the other side of the laundry room and this lady decided she wanted the one my clothes were in. I was a minute late and they already were in the laundry cart. I was so pissed!

Aw, so sad to have to split up.

That book on the sketches of the parks, resorts, and attractions sounds really neat. I hope I run across that sometime.

So, EoS has breakfast sandwiches?

It was ad to read about half the family going home Tink, but that was so nice of you to get the photo frames and prints, and now you all have that same lovely keepsake! :goodvibes

Old Key West looks very nice, I hadn't really seen photo's of it before, love the Mickey's in the railings! :cutie:

And Kristen, hope the night-time involves you and Chris feeling much better!

Awww what a sad morning, luckily little guy never caught on that you guys were staying longer.

Your view at OKW is amazing, I can see why you love it so much.

Is it normal for winter session to start in February where you are, I'm just wondering cause university for us here has been back in session for almost a month already.

That's too bad that you guys both woke up feeling sick, hopefully it didn't last long and hopefully you love OKW when you stay there:goodvibes

It took me a couple days, but I caught up on everything!!

Kristen - TOTALLY agree with you about the spectro magic thing... I love that parade!! Such a classic. Sorry to hear that you and Chris were sick ... man that sucks sooo bad!! :(

Tink - Awwww so sorry to hear about your sad departure... I know how you feel... I get like that when my parents leave Disney too and we stay a few more nights. :( (or even when i leave them after having stayed there for a few nights.. I live 5 hrs away from them)

Great updates! :cutie:

I just found the book, it's called "Designing Disney". I think you'd like it. I couldn't put it down!

Yes Earl has breakfast! I was excited!

They loved the frames and pics! We have ours up in our living room next to our "Our Disney Vacation" frame we had engraved years ago that we always put our Main St. photopass pic in.

OKW is so nice! There will be more Resort pics soon!

Their night was REAL good--we were together! :)

Awww what a sad morning, luckily little guy never caught on that you guys were staying longer.

We felt so bad not telling Little Guy we were staying longer!

I just love getting up in the morning and going out on our balcony to eat breakfast. It's so quiet and peaceful. OKW is such a beautiful place to stay.

School started January 24th. We always start that last week of January and then go until the second or third week of May.

I'm sorry too but I'm glad I'm all caught up on your TR now :)

I'm glad! :)

July 24, 2010 *continued*

We left off leaving the room and walking over to the Hospitality House. Here’s a map so you can see where our building was. We’re building 21:

OKWmap.gif

So you can see, it wasn’t that far of a walk. Plus, we found out that the quiet pool was right around the corner from us!

Once we made it over, we headed into the gift shop to see if there was any new DVC merchandise screaming our name. We did find this beautiful OKW drawing that we ended up buying later in the trip for our Disney beach themed bathroom. I love looking around this shop because they play Disney songs, but different versions of them sung by somebody else. Of course, to keep with the theme, they play a lot of Little Mermaid songs. Every time that we were in the shop and “Part of Your World” came on, Sis and I would dance and sing. Of course, we got funny looks, but hey, I’ll never see those people again. Haha.

After looking around in the shop awhile, we headed over to the Gurgling Suitcase for some drinks since it was hot out. We were so happy to find that our “usual” tables were open. So, Mom, Sis, and I sat while Dad and Fiancé ordered our drinks. I can’t remember what everyone had, but they were good! Sis was sad though since she’s the only one not 21, so she had a smoothie.

Our view:

Fiancé and Dad going to get our drinks:

340-1.jpg

For those of you who have not been in the Gurgling Suitcase or Olivia’s, all over the walls are pics of families who send in their pics that call OKW “home”. Well, right next to me was this picture of family who had OKW as their license plates! So I took a pic of it because..I found the license plates over by the bar!:

We sat and talked for awhile and finished up our drinks. Then, it was time to start our journey over to the Poly! I was so excited to see Kristen and Chris again! We headed out to the Hospitality House bus stop. While we walked there, I got sad again. No more watching for buses with Little Guy. Suddenly, everything was different for us. I know I’ve said it already, but after being there with him, I see WDW in a whole different way. So, as we sat waiting for the MK bus, we checked in with Grandma to see if they had made it to Nashville yet. They were getting closer and would let us know when they made it to the hotel. Also, while we waited, I had to take a pic because the weather was so beautiful that day:

342-2.jpg

Once the bus came, we realized that it was only us and one other family riding! As we headed on our way, the bus spiel guy announced that “Someone on the bus was having a birthday!” The bus driver must have seen Sis’s birthday pin! Again, it’s those little things that make me miss all the CM’s being like that. I can remember a time when you rarely saw a CM not smiling; when CM’s went out of their way to greet you. So, when we come across a CM like that, we make sure to let them know we appreciate them. Once we made it to the MK, we thanked the driver and told him that he had made our day.

Instead of riding the monorail, we decided to walk to the Contemporary. First, we stopped and took our traditional pic with our “Walk Around the World” stone. Everyone puts one foot in around the stone. We’ve been taking that picture since we got the stone back in ‘95. Since our stone is in a prime walking spot, the letters are starting to fade. I vowed to bring a permanent marker next time to fill them in! haha!

For those of you who have read my previous TR’s and actually a previous update from this TR, you know about our “Smelly Plant” song that we recreated from Phoebe from Friends’ “Smelly Cat”. So of course, when we got to them, we all had to sing. Mom and Dad were amused that we still remember it. Haha.

I have to admit, as we got closer to the Contemporary, this weird feeling came over me. We had woken up there THAT morning. And as we turned the corner and walked by the bus stop, I replayed all the mornings we sat there with the rest of the family.

akdisney403.jpg

Okay, now I’m all teary-eyed just thinking about it! It was a weird feeling though to be back at the Contemporary since we weren’t staying there anymore. I was amazed at how much a Resort feels like “home” and gives you a sense of comfort while you’re staying there.

As we headed towards the escalator, I replayed all the times we walked out to go swimming with Little Guy all dressed up in his Nemo trunks and lime green swimmies on his arms. Yes, Mom and Sis make fun of me for having such a vivid memory sometimes. I can remember things from YEARS ago just like they were yesterday. Of course, it’s all things that mean something to me.

As we made it up the second escalator onto the Concourse Level, we realized that it was raining out! We were so glad all we had to do was hop on the monorail! As we made it up to the monorail station, we looked and found our rooms. We wondered if anyone was in them yet. As we left the Contemporary, I sighed and thought about how attached I was to the Resort now. Haha. I texted Kristen and let her know that we were almost to the Poly.

~Up next: Enjoying the night with Kristen and Chris..Kona dinner and DHS!
