You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

What a great update Kristen! I miss Epcot!

Biergarten looks really yummy. And they have pretzel bread, mmm! I think that will be the next restaurant we try in Epcot when we go back. I saw the Tequila Cave when we were there 2 weeks ago and would have gone in had we not been so full from lunch. How was your margarita? It sounds interesting!

Great update Kristen! :thumbsup2 I was laughing when I saw your expression after trying Beverly - I have a similar expression on my face in a picture too! :rotfl:

That pretzel bread looked super yummy!!!

What a great evening in EPCOT!

That is a great Beverly face. :rotfl:

An evening swim, a great way to end the night. :thumbsup2

July 22, 2010 *continued*

The rest of tinkgurl’s day:

We left off finishing up lunch at Contempo Café and Fiancé and I were headed down to the pool. After awhile, Grandma, Mom, Dad, and Cuz came down. While we waited for Grandpa, Uncle, and Little Guy to come down, we got drinks at the snack bar! I can’t remember what they were called, but Fiancé and I tried two different drinks. We both agreed that mine tasted better. I wish I could remember what they were!! Once the rest of the group came down, we swam for a few hours, and then headed back up to the room to get ready for the night.

Once we were all ready to go, we headed down to the elevator to the Concourse level. As we got off the elevator and headed towards the escalator, Little Guy asked where we were going. I told him, “We’re getting on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom!!” He got so excited! While we waited for the next monorail, we all took turns guessing what color it would be. I can’t remember what color it ended up being, but Little Guy was right! We all laughed at the luck he had.

As we made it to the Poly, Little Guy yelled out, “Here’s the Woo-au!” We all laughed. I told him, “We’re eating here for breakfast tomorrow with Lilo and Stitch!” He said, “Awesome!!” haha. It doesn’t take much to make him happy. As we said bye to the Poly, we decided to think of a “game plan” for once we made it to the MK, and once we made it into the park, we went our separate ways. While Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, and Dad rode the People Mover, did the CoP, and got us a stroller for the night, the rest of us headed to the racecars because Fiancé and I had been dying to take him. I had been telling him all about it way before our trip.

The wait said 40 minutes, but we didn’t care because this was our one and only chance to do them. As we stepped into the line, we had to play our game again and make our guesses as to when we’d be getting into the cars. Little Guy wanted in on the game, so we had to try and explain the time to him. I can’t remember what he guessed, but it wasn’t even a real time. haha.

As we got closer to going down the ramp, Little Guy got more and more excited. Watching the other people driving their cars definitely helped pass the time. As we were getting closer to loading, I told Little Guy that I was going to hurry and take a picture of him and Fiancé in their car so he had to be good and get in there fast. He said he would, then said “Take a picture of me making a silly face!” So here’s what we got:

305-1.jpg

Such a ham! Before we knew it, it was our turn! Sis and I were in the first car, Fiancé and Little Guy were behind us, and Uncle and Cuz were behind them. I think I was more excited for Little Guy than he was for himself! haha. Here’s my two favorite boys and one of my other favorite pics from the trip:

306-1.jpg

Of course, Little Guy got to steer while Fiancé did the foot petals. Sis and I drove slowly so we could keep looking back at them and take pictures. They were having a blast. I could hear them laughing and making car noises. Since most of these pics do not need explanation, I’ll just let you enjoy them:

Something we’ve never noticed before…

As we headed back out into Tomorrowland, I high-fived Little Guy and told him he did awesome. Since we were so close, I suggested we did Buzz since that was another must on our list. While we walked over there, Little Guy said he was getting hungry. He should be since he skipped out on lunch! So, Uncle said he was going to find the rest of the group and get Little Guy a hot dog.

As we got in line, I reminded Little Guy about the ride since I had explained it to him before the trip. He asked if it was like TSM, I told him kind-of, but TSM is cooler because it’s in 3D. I was so happy to see that they had fixed the murals on the walls. Last trip, they were looking so bad with people peeling the paint off.

316-1.jpg

As we got closer to Buzz, Fiancé lifted Little Guy up so he could get a good look:

317-1.jpg

He didn’t know what to think. He just looked at him in awe. Then, he got down to play:

318-1.jpg

Of course, he wanted to ride with Fiancé, so he sat on Fiancé’s lap so I could ride with them. Sis and Cuz were in the vehicle behind us. The whole ride I kept looking over and they were having a blast. Every once in awhile, Little Guy would tell him, “I’m beating you!!” And even though he really wasn’t, I let him believe it. When we got off, we ran over to look at our ride photo. Little Guy thought it was so funny to see a picture of himself on the screen.

**Continued in next post**

**Continued from previous**

As we walked back out into Tomorrowland, we saw the rest of the group waiting for us. Little Guy hopped in the stroller and enjoyed his hot dog. It was getting close to parade time, so we decided to walk through Fantasyland and make our way to Frontierland to get a spot. We decided to sit in front of the shooting arcade because they had some benches for Grandma and Grandpa to sit on. Uncle and J decided to skip the parade and headed over to BTMRR. While the rest of the group stayed with Little Guy, Sis, Fiancé, and I ran to get some food at Pecos Bill’s. I was so nervous while we waited in line and then waited for our food. There were quite a few people ahead of us, and I was hoping we wouldn’t miss any of the parade. Luckily, the CM’s were getting food out fast, so it didn’t take as long as could have. We all got chicken wraps and they were huge! We could’ve easily split one with two people. On our way back to our spot, we grabbed a treat for Little Guy.

When we made it back, Little Guy got out of his stroller and leaned back on Fiancé.:

About 10 minutes after we made it back, the lights dimmed and we could see the parade coming through Liberty Square. I was sad about missing Spectro, but I was excited for something different at the same time. This was another one of those moments that made me tear up. Just seeing the excitement on Little Guy’s face and seeing him wave to the characters was such a great feeling. I wanted the parade to go on forever. Here’s some of the pics that turned out:

I really enjoyed the parade! It was great to see the parade since I had been hearing the music on the DIS radio for quite some time.

We let the crowd thin out before leaving our spot. We texted Uncle and Cuz and told them to stay over by BTMRR because we were all headed to Splash. As we walked by the big drop, we told Little Guy that’s what we were going on. He was excited and nervous at the same time. I told him he could sit in-between Fiancé and I so he’d have someone to hold onto on both sides. He thought that sounded good.

As we made our way through the line, we realized that it was a walk-on! As we got closer to the loading area, we had to wait maybe 5 minutes. We could hear the fireworks starting! As we loaded into our log, Uncle, Sis, and Cuz were in the front. Fiancé, Little Guy, and I were in the second row, Mom and Dad were behind us, then Grandpa and Grandma were in the very back. Grandma and Grandpa were so excited to be back on Splash since they loved in on our 2001 trip. I was still nervous at how they would handle the drop, but they did good!

As we made our way past the big drop and got soaking wet, Little Guy laughed so hard. Then, we made it around outside before going down into the first scene. As the Castle came into view, the finale of the fireworks was going! We wish we would’ve had our camera out because it was an amazing, beautiful view! Especially since these fireworks were more spread out. It was a great way to start our ride.

As we got closer and closer to the big drop, I got more and more nervous for Little Guy. I had my leg and arm all the way across him and he was hanging onto Fiancé’s arm with his other hand. Once the drop was over, he had a death grip on both Fiancé and I. He was on the verge of crying and said to me, “I don’t want to go on this again. Are there anymore drops?!” I told him no, we were all done and almost getting off. He calmed down eventually. When we got off, we all ran to look at our ride photo. It was the most hilarious pic over. Little Guy’s eyes were the size of saucers and he just had this scared look. We had to buy it; especially since it was his first time on it ever. While Grandma and Uncle got in line to get our picture, we looked around the shop. Once we got our pic, we decided to head over to Adventureland and ride the Magic Carpets.

As we walked by Splash again, Little Guy said “Nevermind. I like this ride. It’s my favorite!” And if you ask him, it ended up being his favorite ride from the whole trip! Crazy kid.

There was about a 10 minute wait for the Carpets, so we talked about the day we had so far to keep Little Guy occupied. I reminded Little Guy that this was the ride with the spitting camel and told him he better not get me wet! He laughed and said he was going to find that camel. Once we loaded onto our carpet, Sis hurried and took a pic of us before getting in the back with Cuz:

akdisney377.jpg

As you can see, we were soaked from Splash! Of course, Fiancé helped Little Guy get us lined up perfect with the spitting camel and I got spit on every time we went by it! By the end of the ride, Little Guy was laughing so hard. When we met back up with the rest of the group, he had to tell them all how he made the camel get me.

It was getting late and we were getting tired, so we decided to call it a night. As we walked down Main St., Uncle asked Little Guy which color balloon he wanted. Of course, he picked the pink! So, the rest of the group returned the stroller while Little Guy, Fiancé, Uncle, and I bought his balloon. He was so excited. I was so excited! His first Mickey balloon! Of course, I thought of MeMom and our shared claustrophobia as we got it.

Little Guy was so happy. There was a good crowd leaving the park, so Fiancé picked Little Guy up as we walked to the monorail station:

akdisney378.jpg

We got in line and made it more than half way up the ramp before we had to stop. Little Guy got down and was playing with his balloon. Then, we got this look:

akdisney379.jpg

He was done with pictures for the night. haha. I have to tell you, this balloon was definitely worth the money! It made it all the way home, and then lasted until the beginning of October! I kid you not! Once we did have to throw it away, we kept the heavy Mickey weights that were tied to the bottom of the string as a remembrance of that balloon and the night we bought it.

Once we finally made it onto a monorail, it was packed! Luckily, a man was nice enough to let Grandma sit down. She thanked him and thanked him. I think we were all happy we only had one stop to go. When we got off, we headed down to Contempo Café. Can you see how much we loved it?! We all got something to eat or something to snack on. Little Guy was getting tired, so Fiancé and I took Grandma’s room key and took him up to the room. We gave him a bath, had him brush his teeth, and laid with him in bed until he fell asleep. Fiancé also fell asleep, so when Grandma and Grandpa came in the room, I headed over to our room and left Fiancé there. About half an hour later, we got a knock on our door and it was Fiancé. He didn’t even know that he fell asleep! ha. We were all ready for bed!

As I laid down, I thought about how much fun we had that day; especially with breakfast that morning and the Toy Story Green Army Men. I was also sad that tomorrow was going to be our last full day together. Visions of the Castle and Mickey balloons danced in my head as I drifted off..

*Up next for tinkgurl and family: breakfast at Ohana with Kristen and Chris and another fun filled day at the MK!

You started off my Wednesday in a nice way, thinking of this fun day with your family. A parade, race cars, Buzz, getting wet on Splash Mountain, a kind man letting Grandma have a seat, falling asleep from exhaustion.... All of those things are just a normal part of a summer Disney day. I love the big family trips when everyone can be together making this very special memories together.

I said a little, 'Oh, no!' in my mind when I saw the balloon. ;)

Great updates girls!

Tink, I liked when you said how Little Guy was waving at all the characters during the MSEP. While we don't have any small kids with us anymore, I always notice how they seem to do that during the parades. It's so cute! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear how he liked breakfast at Ohana

What a great end to your day. LOVED your Splash Mountain story. It's one of my favorite rides at WDW. I can't believe Little Guy went on, he's a brave one :) Haha, that's so funny how he says it's his favorite ride now.

I love the music to the MSEP too :goodvibes I'm so glad I got to see it although I am looking forward to when they bring Spectro back!

He was very brave! I wish you could've felt how bad he was shaking after the drop though! I know, it's so funny that it's his favorite ride now.

Awww... Tink, you got some super cute pictures of the Little Guy and the MSEP!! I'm jealous- many of mine did not turn out, so I'll have to gaze at yours! :cloud9:

What a long and fun day you had!

Wow, I am very impressed with the Little guy for making in on Splash Mountain! I don't think we can even manage to get DD to go back on POTC after her experience with the little drop.

Your post has me so excited to see the MSEP, although I will miss Spectro as well. I can't wait to read about Ohana since we have that booked for Feb.

By the way, loved the pics of FI and LG in the car. It brought back some great memories.

Thanks Liesa. I was shocked at how many pics of MSEP turned out, since I usually have bad luck with parade pics!

It was a long day..but amazing! :cloud9:

Aw..I understand! You'll read about it soon, but the next time we went on PoTC, he kept asking how many drops there were and was all worried about it.

MSEP was great! It was nice to see something different for a change. I was sad though that Little Guy didn't get to see Spectro. Oh well, just as excuse to come back!

I can say this much..you won't be disappointed with Ohana!

Great updates girls :goodvibes
Oh I just love Biergarten too!!! Always one of my favorite places to eat!! Mmmm....I had the beer flight this past trip too....I usually get a liter of Hefeweizen but it is too big to lift  There are so many things that I love on the buffet :)
Cute story about Little Guy on Splash :goodvibes I can just imagine his expression in the picture;) It is a great place to see the fireworks...I have caught them while on there a few times :thumbsup2 MSEP is such a great parade....I was so excited to see it because that was my "childhood" parade :cutie: I really remembered a lot of it when I saw it in October...especially the music :)

I wish everyone could've been on Splash with us. It was the most entertaining ride ever! It was a great view of the fireworks! That's awesome you've seen it from on there too!

That's great you got to see MSEP again. :goodvibes

Really sounds like the perfect evening, to enjoy Epcot at a relaxed pace and end the night with a night swim. Can't wait until it's my turn.:goodvibes

I'm a little upset though. I had no clue about that etched glass thing, but now that you've shown pictures I totally want one. Looks amazing! Probably a budget buster though...:rotfl: (Don't worry, I'm not really upset ;))

We had such a great night, relaxing and enjoyable!

I actually don't remember the etched glass thing being THAT expensive...I do remember I was really going to buy it but decided to spend my extra money on drinks instead haha

Awesome time at Epcot! There is so, so much to see and learn in all the countries. This would be a wonderful afternoon for a stroll around World Showcase, if I weren't ten hours away. :upsidedow

Beverly tastes like a bad medicine to me. Yuck!

You are going to be surprised at the lower cost of living in the south, but the paychecks are smaller, too, of course. Have you guys pretty much decided on Florida?

Have fun at Busch Gardens. It's been many years since we went. I'd like to go to BG Williamsburg someday.

It really was one of my favorite times in Epcot...isn't it a shame we can't just head over there as often as we'd like to stroll?

Beverly was gross! We are really going to love the lower cost of living down South but yes, the lower wages are a factor. We are pretty much decided on FL due to having Chris' family down there. Our hope is to save "NY money" and then go down there with it.

BG Williamsburg is tons of fun so I hope the on in Tampa Bay is as fun! We'll be there this time next week!

Aw man Kristen, your pics of Epcot make me miss our time we spent there together!!

Me too :(

Another great update! I know I've been on the Three Cabelleros but it's been such a long time. I am really looking forward to it on our trip this April!

Sounds like a perfect Disney evening! Have a great time in Tampa!

Thanks! The Three Caballeros is cute and nice to escape the heat.

This time next week we'll be in FL so thanks!

Awww Tink, the cake you made for Little Guy came out so cute. I love to bake but I lack the patience for doing cute things like that. You did such a good job!

Kristen, that was an awesome update -- I looooove Epcot! I now so badly want to visit the tequila cave :rotfl: It wasn't there when I went in February. I think the first time I saw anything about it was when I saw pics on Tracy's (maantra) FB. That avocado margarita sounds soooo good!

The tequila cave was AWESOME, I'll totally be back! You should definitely check it out next time you're there! The avocado margarita was good but very filling!

Great update. Nothing like a leisurely afternoon in the World Showcase. How was the avocado margarita? It sounds, um, interesting?

The avocado margarita was yummy! Very filling though!

What a great update Kristen!

seems like you and chris enjoyed each others company and disney delights equally which is always good! I would never have thought of Biergarten but am pretty sure DBF would love the beer flight!

I remember reading that exact phrase about the stone army all having different faces, so cool!

We had a great night together! And we can't recommend Biergarten enough!

Great update!
We ate at Beirgarten for the 1st time on our trip & I LOVED it too!
You're avocado margarita sounds yummy!

Biergarten is great!! So was the margarita, just very filling!

Such a good update!! I love, love, love Epcot!!! That Tequila place was really neat wasn't it! When we visited there last year, Chad and his step-dad got a shot of tequila. When the bill came....it was $40 bucks a pop!! lol

Heather! I've missed you! OMG $40 a shot?! Whoaaa! If I paid that much I'd want to be drunk off of the one shot and not have to buy anymore! hahaha

Writing the update totally made me miss Epcot so much, too. Biergarten is so delicious, I'm craving it tonight! Definitely try the tequila cave next time you're in Epcot...the margarita was really delicious!

Your night at Epcot sounds perfect to me Kristen! :thumbsup2

Thanks, it was!

Great update Kristen! :thumbsup2 I was laughing when I saw your expression after trying Beverly - I have a similar expression on my face in a picture too! :rotfl:

That pretzel bread looked super yummy!!!

OMG the Beverly was gross! haha but the pretzel bread? Yummmm!

What a great evening in EPCOT!

That is a great Beverly face. :rotfl:

An evening swim, a great way to end the night. :thumbsup2

It was a wonderful evening, even though the Beverly was GROSS!

Great updates girls :goodvibes

Biergarten is a place we'll definitely keep going back to trip after trip, sooo good! I think I'm going to get the liter of Hefenweizen next trip because I've tried it again at a German restaurant near home and just love it! I might ask if they'll give it to me in a boot lol haha
