Your worst moment at a Disney park?

I got separated from my eight year old son at typhoon lagoon. I tried to get get CM's to help find him or call around to see if any of the others had a lost boy and nobody would help me. They just looked at me in a disintersted way and told me to wait by the exit and he would probably come out at closing time which was hours later! I didn't know what else to do so I did what they said. But I'll never forget the terror I felt that something bad had happened to my son. He finally came out at closing and said he had told cm's he had lost his mother and they told him the same thing they told me.

wow. that's unbelievable.

I know it sounds unbelievable but it happened just that way when I was a young mother. It was 22 years ago. Now I would know to scream bloody murder until they called security and I'ld call 911.

We were on our way back to the POP after my DD1's first day at MK, it was late, probably around midnight, and she slept in the stroller till it was time to get ready to board the bus. What we hadn't know was she had a rather bad "accident" whilst sleeping andit was all up her back and smelled AWFUL. My poor DW was carrying her and was covered herself, I couldn't help, as I gave up my seat and went further back in the bus. We felt more bad for the people around us wondering where that smell was comming from (thank goodness the bus is dark.)

Last trip DD2 threw up all over DW and herself just after the bus pulled away to MK on our last day there. Thank goodness nothing got on people sitting around us. We used our spit rag (old recieving blanket kept in the stroller for emergencies) to clean most of it, and when we got to MK, they headed to the bathrooms by the ticket booths while I took DD1 to see the opening show. DW caught up to us, still upset, and at the Emporium asked for a bag to put the soiled rag in, the CM took one look and told her to pick out a shirt for herself and DD2 no charge. I think DW was even more emotional after that. We found the cheapest shirts we could and made the best of the rest of the day.

oh so not a recent thing. I guess things are different now.

One of our worst memories, which we laugh about it today, but at the time it wasn't funny was a mix up in our schedule. Every morning when we are at the WDW, I have a print out of our dinner reservations. I asked my daughter, "Hey check the schedule, where are we going today?" My daughter replied, "Epcot-Teppan Edo." Normally, I bring the schedule along, but forgot it. So off we headed to Epcot. When 5:00pm rolled around, we headed to Teppan Edo for dinner. The hostess, just kept looking at her computer, and asking me to repeat my last name. By the 3rd time, I started to realize, we were at the wrong park on the wrong day...therefore, you guessed it, we didn't have reservations for Teppan Edo. My daughter became very upset that she read the schedule wrong, and needless to say it became a chain reaction. My daughter carried on, my mother yelled at her, my husband got mad at my mother...and so on, so on. Bottom line, I think we were all so hungry, emotions were running high. Oh well, the hostess accomodated our error and got us in for dinner in the end. Lesson learned...if you want something done right, do it yourself...ha, ha!:rotfl:

At AK in February we were walking under the rocks at the front of the park & everyone behind me is saying "duck" "duck". I'm thinking where are the ducks? Right as one flys into the back of my head! Oh my goodness my head hurt all day. What was worse was the duck got startled and hit the rock and fell on the ground. The kid with the family behind me started to cry & said I kileld the duck. The duck did get up and waddle away but the kid wouldn't stop crying. People were looking at me like I did it on purpose. It completely ruined my day. Seriously. Esp when the kids dad started to yell at me. I had to push my husband away really fast. He was getting annoyed with the guy.

A duck flew into the back of your head and folks around you were blaming (and yelling at) you for it? That's one of the most unreasonable things I have heard.

My worst moment was on a Disney bus. Our DD uses a wheelchair full time. We LOVE Disney because she can go on alot of rides in her chair and the bus can take her in her chair. It makes a great trip for us!:thumbsup2

Anyway, we are never in a hurry. We are on vacation!:) We were leaving the MK after the fireworks. It was busy. We went to the line and waited for a bus to go to CBR. We waited in the HC line as marked. When the bus pulled up a lady in the line became VERY vocal. She started going on about wheelchairs. The bus driver waved us down and we went. Anyway we loaded as did the vocal lady. Well she never let up she went on and on and on about wheelchairs! When her stop at CBR came she got off and walked by my DD and said "bye wheelchair!" I was floored and it broke my heart. I looked at my DD and smiled and told her "We love you!" My DD was 16 at the time so she took in every word the lady said.:sad1: I wanted to tell the lady off but decided to be the better person. I also wanted to tell her my DD has a proper name!
ok rants over.

My worst Disney experience was during my HS band trip. It wasn't the 24+ hr bus trip there. It wasn't marching in the Thanksgiving Day Parade in the heat in wool uniforms. (Although that was pretty bad; a few people fainted, and it was a lucky thing we were discarding the uniforms that year, as our white and blue/red trimmed uniforms were just a leeeetle bit smelly.) The worst part wasn't even having both my parents along as chaperons. (How my mother summoned the patience for that is a miracle in and of itself. How my parents didn't embarrass the bejeebus out of me is slightly less so.)

The worst part was when somehow, my wallet got thrown away, including over $100.00 in spending money, my park passes & meal vouchers, drivers license, and emergency credit card. I had to face the wrath of both parents and the director, and lost the rest of that day getting replacement tickets and vouchers. Needless to say, I was paranoid about checking my pocket every thirty seconds for the rest of the trip to make sure I hadn't lost anything again.

As far as bad moments go, this wasn't *that* bad.. but it's still my worst moment.

My 10 month old had just come down with a cold. He has a very sensitive gag reflex, and the extra phlegm makes him puke a lot when he's sick. It was our last day, we had already done the airline check-in at our hotel. We were at MK, with about 3 hours left before we had to leave. My husband was on Buzz with the big kids while I rocked the baby to sleep. He was completely passed out when he coughed once and then puked right down my chest.. not on the outside of my shirt, but on the inside, into my bra. A whole 8 ounce bottle. Luckily, my husband showed up just then, so I passed the baby to him. The baby then threw up all over him. So we had to find new shirts for the both of us.. not a big deal for my husband, but I'm plus-sized and the biggest size they had was a little tighter than I normally wear (not indecently so, but I was self-conscious). I went to go change, and there was literally a puddle inside my bra. I tried to wash it out, thinking I'd put it into an empty shopping bag, but then I realized it would probably stink up the whole airplane.. so I threw it out. Yes, MK on a busy day with no bra and a too-tight t-shirt.. fun. :) Luckily my husband and I are smart enough not to let a silly thing like baby vomit ruin our day.. we even got a Photopass pic done in front of the train station on our way out.

My DH and I termed our one trip "Theme Park Disease." By the time we got to Disneyland/CA, we had been to Knott's Berry Farm, a way too hot visit at the Wild Animal Park, and Sea World. Crazy, huh? And, we were staying in a tent to afford the vacation. Well, we had been at Disney two days and had just enough of people, people ramming us with strollers, people pushing, people just walking into you, etc., when we met Chip and Dale. We were in line to see one of them, when an entire group of people just cut in front of the line. The rest of us dutifully walked to the other chipmunk. THEY FOLLOWED AND TRIED TO CUT! They didn't speak English and I let loose in the best Spanish I could muster. It apparently worked because they walked to the back of the line, but I was quite embarrassed about my behavior. Then, when we got back to the campground, somebody had taken the only picnic table for themselves! I unfortunately yelled at them too (waking them up since it was midnight!) Needless to say, we learned important things: 1) Next trip, we bought a trailer. No more tents for us. and 2) Not that many theme parks, and definitely not in the heat of August!

Worst moment was at the shark swim in Typhoon Lagoon. Not the sharks it was the parenting moment. We all can swim so we put the kids in the life vests but went without them for DW and myself.

If you've never done it before your swimming on the surface and the sharks are down at the bottom. You are not allowed to splash or kick.

So DW and DD are moving along ahead and DS is bring up the rear. We got half way across and I keep checking back with DS who was about 8 yrs old. He's having a great time floating along looking through the mask at the sharks. Now I notice that I'm more than half way across and DW and DD are almost done but my 8yr old DS is now turned sideways and is heading away from me. I call to him and he can't hear over all the chatter and his heads in the water.

So now I'm starting to panic ( I know they have lifeguards and he's wearing a vest) because he's heading away. The big problem is now I can't get turned around and heading to him without kicking. So I splash a few times and they tell me to stop. I tell them my son is over there and the lifeguard jumps in to save ME!:scared1: I don't need saving I need my son.

DS finally finds his way to me and we get out. He's not phased in the least and I'm freaking out cause he was going the wrong way in a shark pool and the embarassment of the lifeguard jumping to save me.

We got over it and had a good trip but the swim with the sharks was kind of killed for me.

Don't know if security or CM's are better at Typhoon Lagoon. We still like to go to WDW but have never been back to any water park.

Something similar happened to us when DS was about two. I decided "just one more ride" and for a variety of reasons it took longer than I expected. To make a long story short, I ended up in line holding a screaming DS while I tried to order some food. He was hungry and he decided to throw one of his two true tantrums. People looked at me like I had two heads but I suspected that if he ate, he'd calm down. I was right but we left for a nap right after!

I think that we all get caught by surprise once in a while. :)

At least you didn't purposefully do this to him. We went to Disneyland when I was five and I did not want to get on the ride. My father, who believes in full immersion therapy, drug me on the ride. Not only that, he kept scaring me. I was screaming and crying and Mom is behind yelling, "Pierre, stop it. Don't scream sweetie, they're all fake!" My brother is laughing and when we got off, I was done with Disney. DONE! My parents got me on Dumbo and then I was better, but it took until I was an adult to go back on that ride!

For some reason in WDW all creatures love to torture me.

When I was about 12, seagull pooped DIRECTLY on the top of my head and dripped all down the side of my face (EWWWWW) in Epcot. I ended up having to wash my hair in a water fountain, not fun.

A few years later, a bee landed on the back of my ear and when I went to feel what had landed on me, it stung me on the tip of my finger. By the time we got to first aid it had blown up to the size of a golf ball!!! OUCH :rotfl:

About two years ago I was coming out of Laugh Floor at MK and something either stung me in the eye or flew in my eye. I wear contacts, and my eye turned beet red & I was in so much pain! I went to first aid and they had no contact lens supplies at all. Ended up having to cut the day short & go back to the hotel & to a CVS. I had to wear my glasses the rest of the trip but it got better after a few days.

I have to say they were not helpful in MK at all:mad: :( Now I add contact lens supplies to my already huge list of things to carry around the parks!

The last trip my daughter, granddaughter and I were going to Mk finally as it's our fav park. I had had an allergic reaction earlier in the week and still wasn't feeling up to par. After two hrs at Mk I told my DD I was sick. Right then and there I vomited on the street and a man accused me of purposefully throwing up on his stroller. His child was not in it thank goodness. Well my DD who NEVER gets mad lost her temper and told the man a few choice replies. I couldn' say a thing and went back to room and called my Md back at home. He sent something for nausea and I stayed in bed rest of day. I was soo sick but next day was fine???:sick::sick:

At the risk of sounding like a whiner, we've had some real winners! Many little things always go wrong it seems, but these were some bigger ones. First is actually kind of funny.....lol

Let's see....puking (me!) coming off of Thunder Mountain.:rotfl2: My mother thought it was hysterical!
15th anniversary, room gets broken in to at CBR.:sad2:
25th anniversary trip, phone call telling me fav cousin has been diagnosed with cancer.:sad1:
27th trip, drunk guest in 'Ohana's telling me vocally and with very distinct sign language to ummm......wow it's the Disboards so how do I say it.....(Mods delete if necessary!).....telling me to F off and doing the Italian hand gesture for it in the middle of the restaurant. My crime? I asked him to sit down after he came and stood in front of the window to see the fireworks at the last minute, blocking everyone's view. Simply asked him to sit or squat down.

Regardless, no one got really hurt in any of our experiences and we were at Disney. You say a prayer of gratitude you can be there at all and move forward!
