What is Dole Whip? Seems to be a popular item. The create your own rice crispy treat sounds great by the way.
Dole Whip is a soft-serve frozen dessert available at individual ice-cream vendors all over the US and most notably at
Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and at Dole Foods' processing plant in Hawaii. It comes in the following flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Pineapple, Strawberry, Raspberry, Mango, and Orange.
At Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and the Dole Foods' processing plant in Hawaii pineapple is the flavor of choice. It is served in a cup or in a glass of pineapple juice as a "Dole Whip Float" topped with a maraschino cherry and Polynesian paper umbrella. Its presence at Disneyland is a benefit of Disneyland's long-standing relation with Dole Foods, corporate sponsors of Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room. For many years, the snack bar at the entrance to Disneyland's Tiki Room was opened only sporadically; it may be surmised that pressure from park guests as well as Dole itself coupled with the park's new management played a role.
According to an interview with Steve "Tikiman" Seifert on the podcast WDW Today, Dole Whip is now available in Walt Disney World outside of the Magic Kingdom at the Disney's Polynesian Resort as part of the Captain Cook's counter service restaurant remodel.[1]
Though a Dole Whip has the taste and consistency of soft-serve ice cream, the dessert actually gets its texture from ordinary food thickeners. Only a small amount of the milk derivative sodium caseinate accounts for dairy content.
