Your most foolish Purchase

:rotfl2: OMG!! The **** growing pill were EXACTLY what came to mind before I even opened the thread. :rolleyes1
Is it wrong that I feel better knowing others were desperate too? :happytv:

$250 a MONTH for weekly group therapy sessions with a posh Beverly Hills therapist. I stuck with it for a YEAR hoping for results.

I SHOULD have asked questions. I should have asked if any of her other patients lost weight. I felt horrible by the time I quit going, and even then, the therapist said things like, "...you've gotten so far!" and "...if being a room with other rich people bothered you, why didn't you speak up?"

Oh, that would be because I felt stupid for being the only one in the room making $10 an hour at the time. (and two of the ladies in the group constantly would say things like, oh, but I'm not one of those losers who make $10 an hour...)

You know what? That was in 1994/1995 before I had internet access so handy. I should look her up now and see what others think! (I didn't get the internet at my desk until 1995.)

Okay, well. I jsut looked her up and she's still there and she wrote a book! Too bad no one reviewed it on Amazon.

When we were in Orlando this past May I was $80 over budget in my food bill for the time we were there. We were in US/IOA and I saw a sign that said free money. Well it was a time share for Holiday Inn and when I went on the tour they hounded me for 6 hours until I finally gave in (I wanted a DVC and they said I could switch points with Disney which was a lie) and paid $100 down payment for the room. I changed my mind after speaking with DVC and canceled within 10 days so I was only out $50 for the "free" book and champagne.

:headache:
I just purchased a Keurig coffe maker on impulse this weekend. We do drink coffe and tea, but my $29.99 coffe maker was just fine...
I feel so foolish :o:rolleyes2

But you will love it.... I find we waste less coffee.... only make the cup we want....

Me.. I have had to many foolish purchases to count...:confused3

My most foolish purchase... about 18 years ago there was a lipstick that would last "until you took it off" (before Cover Girl and Maybeline). I thought perfect for "all day coverage". Well it worked, too good, shellac comes to mind.

I couldn't get the crap off with out scrubbing really hard with a buff puff... gave myself a rash... just an all around terrible experience.

Those darn infomercials... even now they will suck me in. Those pedi-eggs are tempting.... gross... but tempting....

Pssst...those ped-eggs, they actually work. I've got one and love how smooth my feet get.

I'm 52. Anyone care to venture how many foolish purchases I've made? I don't think I could even count them all.

The most foolish purchase we've made is a hot tub that we use one every 6 weeks or so, but still pay the monthly utilities on.

I tried those uh, enhancers for women also many years ago. I think I actually shrunk. :rotfl:

Great Thread. I need a good laugh this morning!!!

This purchase is my husband's. I went away for 2 weeks for training for work and when I came home their was a Bowflex sitting in my basement. Of course it has never been used and collecting dust. That was a total waste of money and I remind him of that on a monthly basis :)

Completely agree with the fancy pants college. I did transfer to state U after my freshman year (and was "only" out about $2000 for the experience).

Buying 2 Dell laptops in 2007 with the warranty insurance.
I cringe when I think how much I spent on them when I could have gone to Best Buy and bought any laptop and it would have been ALOT cheaper.

Thanks for the insight on the private college expense. My DD is going to a state, I couldn't see spenbing that much money on a the private univerisities.

Hands down our non-DVC timeshare from Westgate. It sounds SO GOOD while you are sitting there - the cost keeps coming down and down... Oy Vey!!

$2500 mattress. :( It was the "Plaza" edition...SOOOOOOOOOO comfy in the store & for about 6mths after that...then the body grooves kicked in & now, 6yrs later, I can't even roll over I'm so deeply imbedded in the damn thing. LOL Should've shopped around more...total impulse buy. (Needed a mattress but wasn't planning on buying that day...)

There are countless others...including my house. :confused3 Oh, well. Live & learn (I hope...)

Mine was from on of the kiosk stands at our mall. I was supposed to smooth your nails with a buffing block and "special serum". Turns out I could have bought the same stuff at any drugstore for $30 less and still get the same result. I was so mad at myself.

I bought a new Toyota truck a few years ago. Just about gave it away three months later. Where was C4C then?

LOL- tons of clothing just a little too tight, but I thought "I plan on losing weight............" :rotfl2:

For the first 2 years of DD's life I bought her tons and tons and tons of clothes. I cringe at the thought of how much stuff was worn once, some never! Now I try to use a little more common sense for practical stuff.

DH whined for years he wanted a pinball machine. Now we have a "fish tales" machine taking up very valuable space in our basement and it never gets played. How I would love to set that up that area of the basement with a table for arts and crafts!

I bought those stupid Celebrity China and stainless steel cookware for $2,000 at a high pressure sales right before my wedding. I "won" free toasting crystal glasses and to pick them up I had to go to their "show". I fell for the lifetime warranty, can return old pans to get new pans if anything happens. Have had to do this 3 times already and have to pay $20 for shipping. (but I do love the casual plates I bought!)
