Your Most Disappointing Restaurant

In multiple trips to Disney and many meals, I have only had 2 disappointments...Tonys for dinner and Donalds Breakfastasaurus. All the rest have been wonderful for us!

Boma for breakfast - packed and nothing special.

Chef Mickey's for breakfast - we saw the characters a few times each, but the food was pretty bad. Crystal Palace is so much better.

Tony's for lunch/dinner. The food was edible, but way overpriced. Huge portions though.

I would have to say Whispering Canyon Cafe. Not only was the service appalling (took 20 minutes to get a glass of water!), but the food wasn't htat great, either. We were a table of 10, and none of us were thrilled. i much prefer the family style meal that used to be (and is now again???) served at the Garden Grill.

Chef Mickey's all the way!!!
Took our son there for his 8th birthday and although he loved it, it was very bad. Very rushed & hectic, like a half second with each character...the buffet was messy & the food lukewarm. I've had better at Old Country Buffet! Our server, however, was VERY NICE and attentive, he brought out the cake and Donald Duck and was just a wonderful young guy. The food and the hype were not all we had heard.

Cinderella's Castle on the other hand, was awesome...so many people are dissing it on here. We did go this past September before the price change, but it was great. Our server was very nice & attentive, I forgot his name but he was Hispanic and lived in Kissimmee. It was our daughter's birthday and we had a great time, the table had the streamers & confetti and the princesses were sweet. Wendy from Peter Pan was a joy, she stayed for about 5 minutes talking with my kids. The food was good, NOT GREAT, but lets face it, this is a theme park when it comes right down to it...I am not expecting Charlie Trotter! But we'd go back to the CRT in a heartbeat.

For me it was Ohana's, and like other posters, I thought the skewered meat was all overcooked and tough.

For us it was 50's Prime Time Cafe. Maybe it was just an "off" night but we won't be going back for a while.

No flame suit needed. . .and I agree with you. We have eaten there twice, and both times our service was poor, the food mediocre (we've had both a la carte and skillet meal), and the fun factor lacking (last time was even my wife's birthday about which we informed the server--nothing happened). I will admit neither experience was awful--though the second time came close. Waiting a long time for refills, for cornbread, and mostly for the check (over 15 minutes) sealed the deal for us. And we usually stay at VWL, so it would be convenient. Still, there are too many other restaurants to warrant visiting WCC again anytime soon.

Whispering Canyon Cafe. The food wasn't bad but not great. The disappointing thing was the lack of all the fun antics we had been told to expect. There just weren't any. None. Nada. Dead as a tomb.

I dont know if it was so much a disappointment, as we werent expecting much...but Cap'n Jacks in Downtown Disney was disgusting. The whole reason we ate there was because every other restaurant was packed with people. We were seated at a table by the little galley kitchen, so we could see them prepare everyones food. They didnt use gloves when touching the food or anything. Neither my husband or I ate more than 2-3 bites of food, and frankly we wouldnt have eaten that much but we were starving.

It was terrible. GAG! I'm surprised this place is still in operation.

you do not want food prep people wearing gloves because their hands don't feel dirty and they will touch raw and cooked food (not to mention the trash can )at the same time. It's better if they are none gloved. their hands feel sticky if they touch raw meat and bingo they remember to wash them. I hate to see gloves in a kitchen.

Oh ya, I would say it would be WCC the meat was way over cooked. MY DH makes way better ribs but he makes better ribs than most places. but these ribs were awful I felt like I was eating whit leather.

'Ohana. I loved the restaurant and had a great time, but I wasn't impressed with the food.

It seems as if many WDW restaurants have declined over the last few years. Quality and service has become spotty. I'm not sure why - I don't think it's just the DP. And they're pricey for what you get. I didn't used to feel this way. We don't have too many "can't wait to get there" choices left.

The Grand Floridian Cafe'

Our server was too rushed, my chicken was overcooked, and my DF ordered a pasta with cream sauce and it looked like the milk and fat in the sauce were seperating, very unappetizing. However, the lemon cheescake was very good.

Chef Mickey's was a major disappointment for us--- though we are giving it a second chance since our son picked it for his birthday dinner in May.

The only other restaurant we have eaten at and not cared for over numerous trips was Hollywood and Vine at MGM

Le Cellier. It was ok, but didn't blow me away, as I came to expect after these boards. Seemed like a typical urban steakhouse to me, and there are a bunch of those where I live.

In your opinions, what restaurants have you heard so much about at Disney but when you got there and tried them you were very disappointed? I haven't got to Disney yet, but I was reading somewhere that a lot of people where disappointed in Boma.

The only one that comes to mind is Ohana. It wasn't awful, just not what I had hoped for. Service was fine. Too much meat that tasted the same, shrimp was not deveined. Ewww!

Whispering Canyon Cafe. We too were among the ignored. After the travel channel bit and all the experiences I'd read...we all expected at least some attention. Not even a drink refill...

You have a good point here. I see some food workers wearing gloves, but never changing them! Ringing the register, touching money, going back to touching food, all with the same pair of gloves on.

Tony's and Chefs de France. We tried Tony's twice and it was like an overpriced Olive Garden. We might have hit Chefs de France on a bad night but they brought the kids food out with our appetizers and we didn't get our food for another 40 minutes (even though we kept asking) and when we did get it, it was cold.

Two that I wasn't overimpressed with were WCC and Hollywood and Vine. I didn't hate them but there wasn't anything about them that would make me want to go back.

I'd have to say Akershus lunch. It was ok at best. Food was very mediocre. Princess interaction was great though. We are going back this time for breakfast... hard to screw that up.

We found Breakfastsaurus food to be pretty good, lots of selections. Character interaction was mediocre. We sat in the grey "fossil" room and it was DREARY!!!
