Your favorite SOUP

I love a good chicken noodle. With real chicken (preferably shredded) and wide egg noodles.

I also LOVE Chicken Corn Chowder. The stuff at Boma. AWESOME.

Lately I'm hooked on an easy Taco Soup that I've been fixing:

In a large saucepan....

In about 1 T oil cook...
a large chopped onion & 3 cloves minced garlic till tender.

Add:

2 large cans chicken broth
2 cans of chicken
1 can of whole corn
1 can of chopped tomatoes
(I add carrot slices sometimes too)
1 T lime juice

Add some Salt & pepper & abit of chili powder

Simmer awhile till carrots are tender.

When serving top with generous amounts of:

chopped cilantro, avocado slices, & monterry jack cheese.

You can fry tortilla strips in oil till crispy & serve on top too...these are yummy!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE soup! It's one of my favourite meals. I make homemade soup and salad for dinner about twice a week in the winter. I'll even make soup in the summer sometimes because I just love it so much and I usually have a ton of fresh veggies then as they are at their cheapest. I don't really follow any recipes just use what sounds good or what I have on hand. This week I made a a lentil soup and a potato, leek and kale soup. YUM!

New England Clam Chowda takes the cake, but there are very few soups I don't like (only cold ones and squash/pumpkin ones.)

Was just reading through the replies now but I have to say I LOVE squash/pumpkin soups. They are so good. I make an orange soup made with carrots, squash and sweet potatos that is heavenly:littleangel:

Recipe?
one of the best soups I ever had was a pumpkin soup on a Carnival Cruise!

I really like "creamy tomato" soup, that stuff like you find at Panera. I also like that stuff that Campbells makes by the same name, and something else they make like "Haverst Tomato Basil" I think is what it is called. The Tomato Bisque is also very appealing. I also really, really like potato soup. Homemade vegetable soup is really good and I would never turn down chicken noodle soup.

Wow, I love soup!

Matzoh Ball soup is my absolute favorite soup :lovestruc

Runners up would be ginger sweet potato bisque or corn chowder (with or without chicken)

Any soup!!! Soup is probably one of my most favorite things ever. There is a chain of quick service places in The City (:rotfl2:) called Hale and Hearty and they have 20 different soups every day. It's like I've died and gone to sodium heaven when I can stop there!!!

Chicken Cordon Bleu Soup!!!!! http://www.food.com/recipe/chicken-cordon-bleu-soup-114777

I also loved the Tasefully Simple chicken and wild rice soup.

I've tagged this - sounds sinfully rich, but yummy!

I LOVE soups. I usually make homemade (except Campbell's tomato and Mrs Grass double noodle).

My favorites are:

vegetable beef
potato and double corn chowder
lemon chicken orzo soup
beer and cheese (like le cellier)
mashed potato

My favorite to eat out is from a little place called the Loco Leprachaun and they have a killer chicken paprikash soup.

Charming23, could you share your lemon chicken orzo soup recipe?

My two favorites are slow cooker french onion http://www.food.com/recipe/slow-cooker-french-onion-soup-268870 and After-Thanksgiving-Turkey-Soup http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/After-Thanksgiving-Turkey-Soup

Thanks to everyone who shared recipes, I love soup!

This post made me change my mind on what to have for dinner. We were going to have omelets, but I walked in the door, put down my bag, and immediately started making cheddar beer soup with every vegetable I had in the fridge. It was outrageously good.

Recipe?
one of the best soups I ever had was a pumpkin soup on a Carnival Cruise!

I don't follow a recipe but make it like this:

I roast a small squash (butternut or acorn are good choices or even a small pie pumpkin) and a large sweet potato at 400 degrees until tender (about 45-60 min. make sure you pierce both so they don't explode. When they are done cut in half and let cool while you continue with the rest.

Chop and sautee an onion, a couple celery stalks and a couple carrots in olive oil. Season with pepper and a little ginger and nutmeg if you like. Add about 6 cups veggie broth and bring to low boil. Peel and chop sweet potato and add to pot. Do the same with squash but remove seeds. Simmer 10-20 min and then cool slighty and puree in batches until very smooth or use immersion blender. Return to pot and cook a couple more mintues. Season with salt and pepper if you wish. This truley makes a wonderful soup.

Mombrontrent, that recipe looks delicious. I had butternut squash soup for the first time at Wolf Gang Puck's restaurant in Downtown Disney a few years ago. It was so delicious. It is my favorite restaurant soup. I have never found it anywhere else. I will have to try your recipe and see how it compares to WGP.::yes:: My favorite homemade soup so far is actually called a stew, "West African Peanut Stew". It has bell peppers, onions, sweet potatoes, peanut butter, ginger, and red pepper in it. I would have never thought I would have liked that combination of ingredients, but it is fantastic!

Love a good soup with good crusty bread! YUM...

DH and I love the Zuppa Toscana from Olive Garden. Found a great recipe for home, but you have to follow the first reviewer Dans La Lune, recipe. Made this last Saturday night. MMMM mmmm good!

Here is the recipe for the soup. I just use orzo as I like the texture better in the soup but using broken spaghetti is good too.
