We're down to 27 days and I can't WAIT!!!

My next project is to come up with a list of counter service places from which to choose, depending on where we are when we get hungry. I'm talking lunch, since breakfast will be in our room (thanks to Garden Grocer) and we have dinner ADRs each night.

So-- what are your favorites?

Our favorites:

Animal Kingdom
: Hands down, Flame Tree BBQ

Magic Kingdom:
Village Haus in Fantsyland, Cosmic Ray's in Tommorowland, El Pirata y el Perico if it's open (seasonal) in Adventureland; Pecos Bill in Frontierland;

Hollywood Studios....This park doesn't have much that is outstanding....burgers and pizza everywhere, occasionally something different but not great. ABC Commissary has an Asian salad that is decent...their fish is hit and miss either it's good or it's greasy, so I try to stand aside and watch for someone to walk by with it...if you can SEE the grease as they walk by, don't get it, lol. Studio Catering Company has probably the only menu with some flare...the pulled pork is good, but not as good as Flame Tree in AK; the chicken is ok but at least it's not a burger or pizza! This is probably the one park that I work hard to get TS for lunch and dinner....50's and Sci Fi are our favs. It's also an easy boat ride to Swan/Dolphin where there are some other great TS meals available, if you're willing to leave the park.

Epcot: This park just oozes with great food.....if you want a burger like every other park has then go to Electric Umbrella in Future World....otherwise, eat your way around the World in World Showcase. Some favorites:

Canada doesn't have a CS that I know of....unless you count the McDonald's that is just before it, but I hope not!

United Kingdom: Yorkshire Fish and Chips....this is the same recipe that you pay double plus for inside Rose & Crown. Yummy! Eat it overlooking the lagoon for a peaceful meal.

France: Boulangerie Patisserie....I know most people go here only for the sweet treats (and they are definitely fabulous), but the croissant sandwiches are wonderfully fresh and delicious. If you can resist the sweets in Boulangerie Patisserie, then go outside to the crepes kiosk for dessert.

Morroco: Tangierine Cafe, love the Shwarma Platters and they're typically enough for two light meals. Coucous is a great mini-meal.

Japan....Yakitori house had many great choices, not a bad one in the bunch!

America: Sadly just burgers, hot dogs and chicken strips. Since I get these in "real" life way too often, not my choice when there are other countries to explore.

Germany: Brautwurst and sauerkraut at the Sommerfest CS is pretty good...and the apple strudel is good too.

China: Lotus Blossom is the only CS choice for lunch (though the tea stand is an excelent beverage choice). Lotus Blossom is typical Americanized Chinese food, ok tasting, but sadly not really representative of truly great Chinese food. The pot stickers were much better than the egg roll.

Norway: Kringla Bakeri has some really good soup and sandwich combos, I think one comes with the famed rice cream, but I like the Schoolbread better as my dessert.

Mexico: The combo is definitely more than enough for two. This wasn't that great of food, but it was edible and filling, just nothing to write home about. The churros are messy but delicious. I'm not a drinker, but those in the know love the Margaritas.

pretty much all around. A couple of additions I would make are Sunshine Seasons Tangerine Cafe (Morocco) to the Epcot list.

AK -- Flame Tree Barbecue -- love the ribs and chicken (I love beans, DH detests them)

Epcot -- Sunshine Seasons -- just about any of the stations

Studios -- None -- we won't eat at their counter service

Magic Kingdom -- Columbia Harbor House for the soup and sandwich; we used to like Pinocchio Village Haus -- but now that they took away the turkey panini and mostly have pizzas we won't be going there (do not like Disney pizza at all)

MK- It used to be Pinocchio's until it became a basic pizza place..then I'd probably have to say the Lunching Pad but that might change this trip; we're going to try different CS locations.

Epcot- Hm..this one is difficult. :scared: There are so many! I'd probably say Tangierine cafe though.

DHS- Pizza Planet. Although it's just pizza and salad, the atmosphere is fun.

AK- Flame Tree BBQ- Not many options in AK but we usually choose Flame Tree for CS food.

Oh man, when did Village Haus become a pizza joint? That Panini and salad were great! Ok...if it's gone, then scratch that off my recommendations, because yes Disney pizza is horrible. Worse than frozen pizza heated in the microwave horrible.

I forgot about Sunshine Seasons in Future World at Epcot.....it's pretty hit and miss....some days the food is absolutely excellent (I remember a Salmon platter that was to die for) and sometimes I remember walking in and the smells were awful and the food looked old and dried up. Plus, with all that international fare calling my name, it's not my first choice.

Columbia Harbour has a great tuna sandwich, but nothing else we tried there was very good, so it didn't make my top of the list.

And hey Hootch...I did mention Tangierine Cafe....love the Shwarma!

MK - breakfast at Main Street and lunch or dinner at Cosmic Rays

Epcot - breakfast at Sunshine Seasons and lunch or dinner at Tangierine Cafe

MK - Cosmic Ray's, Peco Bill's and El Pirata Y el Perico Restaurante (when it's open)

AK - Flame Tree

DHS - Not really a fan of any of their CS, but if I had to chose it'd be Pizza Planet

EPCOT - Too many...Lotus Blossom, Cantina de San Angel, Boulangerie Patisserie, Liberty Inn and Electric Umbrella

MK: I like Cosmic Ray's the best. It's pretty standard CS stuff (burgers, chicken, etc.), but it always comes off hot and fresh, I like the fixins bar and the seating is neat. DS likes the fish at Columbia Harbor House, and DW and DD like the salads at Pecos Bills.

AK: Now that they've changed Tusker House and taken away the yummy chicken sandwiches and carrot cake, our favorite is Flame Tree. Ribs are outstanding for CS.

Epcot: We like Tangerine Cafe the best. Hot, fresh, lots of it and not your standard CS choices. The combo platter is big enough for 2 to split, easy.

MGM: Believe it or not, our whole family really likes...ABC Commissary. Really. The variety's good, we all have something we like there (I love the Cuban and sub fries for the plaintain chips), and since everybody else seems to hate it ;) , there's ample air-conditioned seating.
