I got the idea for the best & worst from another thread complaining about slow shipping.

I only have a worst. Nomorerack.com was awful with shipping. I will never order from that site again.

Amazon is always good so I guess I will give them my best.

Who stood out for you?

worst Kohls....still waiting and ordered Dec 5th
Best.. amazon

All good: Macys, Eddie Bauer, Garnet Hill, SharkRobot, Home Depot, Target, Banana Republic, Gap, Amazon, Vera Bradley, OneKingsLane, Disney. com, Groupon, Verizon, Nordstrom, JJill. Every order was placed quickly and delivered promptly. I only went out for a few items at Target and at Macys during their one day sale. Best Christmas shopping year ever. And I got free shipping at every place except JJill (I found random coupons online for $10 off orders that compensated for shipping and I bought lots of items on clearance plus 40% off). At OKL I paid $9.95 to get 2 rugs delivered and I have free shipping on future orders til Dec 24. I had no 'worst'.

My "Slowest Shipping Award" goes to Kohls.com. :sad2:
Best in overall pricing/shipping goes to Amazon.com.
2nd place goes to Ashford.com. I got dh a Movado watch for $299 + free shipping that retails for $895 elsewhere. I can't wait to give it to him. :hyper::yay:

Worst...Nomorerack! Cx order 3 times and were still selling it. I did get 3 of the items I ordered, but that company is hit or miss.
Walmart pretty fast, but you can't get near the pick up at the store MAJOR lines. Barnes & Noble not very fast. Kohl's was so so. Bath and Body was fast. Target better than average. Wolferman's was 2 days, Victoria's Secret was a week, with part of it backordered, but I did get that as well. QVC good as always. Wow, I think I did 75% of my shopping this year online. The BEST was Amazon hands down. Our large purchase was delivered 26 HOURS after we ordered it, DD called it Amazonazing! Several other orders from Amazon arrived in a few days, all without any droids!!!

Kohls worst ever. I am never shopping there again.

My 1st order 121$ great! Second order spending 101$ in khols cash great ....

3rd order 35$ 3/4th shipped ... Used 30$ kohls cash .., Then got an email for 25$ coupon due to late items.... (Note they never arrived when I called. They said nope not coming... They did however see the full value was restored to my kohls cash..., after ganging up I realized when they cancelled the 9$ worth of items. They instead charges at Amex .... 21$. Note kohls cash is still now expired).

4th order 30$ used 25$ coupon for "late items" which they are still not ever sending??? And then cancelled 1 of the 4 items again I assume as well outta stock.

I am livid for the wasted 9$ in kohls cash and the fact they just charged my credit card to keep the. 30$ active ..., on expired kohls cash , I might go to the store but waiting about her 45 mins on the phone to talk to a person whose 3rd language is English is. Or worth my 21$ Amex charge or my 9$ wasted kohl cash

Also bad .... Target really no precautions to stopping cc info stolen or replacing cards for free???

Best.. So far Walmart. (Online) and amazon. I stopped using them a while ago due to them shipping me damaged goods, but they earned my love back.

Best - Walmart, Amazon, Toys r Us, Nordstrom.

Worst- small online company where I ordered my son's embroidered lacrosse jacket (his big gift) on November 18th. Emailed them on Friday & they told me the jacket was backordered & MIGHT get shipped out early next week. Have they ever heard of Christmas?? No apology, nothing.

I normally do the majority of my shopping online, but this year I was all about the in store experience for some reason.

That said, I do have a few online hits and misses.

Best: Amazon and Harveys Seatbeltbags

Worst: DisneyStore.com and HauteLook

Craziest: Bon Ton

I ordered two items from Bon Ton using a very nice coupon deal, one was a sub $5 filler just to get free shipping. My order came in 2 separate boxes and my filler, a pancake turner, was in HUGE box. I swear I question whether they made any money at all on that order.

Best: Staples, JCPenney, Amazon.

Worst: Kohl's (every year).

Middle: YoYo/Wag/Diapers/Casa.com (typical shipping, not amazing but no issues).

Aside from also purchasing dog food online at Chewy.com (also Wag.com), those are the only stores I shopped this holiday season.

Kohl's has the slowest shipping every single year which doesn't usually bother me but I'm pretty upset this year because I placed an order on 12/3 and it did not arrive until 12/17 (wasn't even "ready to ship" until 12/14). I never got a single email apologizing for the delay, did not receive the $25 credit like many others, and I have not received a response from my complaint over a week ago.

Staples has been amazing! I've never ordered online with them before this year but I'm very impressed...perhaps even better than Amazon.

Best: Hollister and Amazon

Worst: American Eagle for shipping slow and Artcow for not padding a scrapbook well enough and it arrived with the cover bent and cracked. They've offered a $5 refund.

Worst - almost got sucked into using ShopperzOutlets.com. They had a Northface fleece for $100 after discounts instead of the usual $170. Thankfully I remembered to Google it before I placed the order and found numerous warnings and complaints about the company. If it seems too good to be true - it usually is.

Best - Amazon. Dicks Sporting Goods for 2 orders - waiting on some gloves, fingers crossed. Eddie Bauer - always reliably good.

I only had positive experiences..

AMAZING (had items within 2 days)
Target
Nordstrom
Coach Factory

Great
Kohls (orders came in lots of different shipments)
Snapfish
Amazon
Finish Line

Worst: Disneystore.com, never even got my items, I was very upset about this one. They made sure to charge my credit card though. I had to be the one to call and get the refund. They had even sent me an email saying they were being shipped and on their way. I had to go to ebay to buy ornaments for triple the price. It made me sick too because I had used that 25% off promo they only give twice a year…by the time they/I had figured the items weren't actually being shipped only 2 of the 7 were in stock. I had placed this order in the beginning of november too…:(

Best: Amazon, we ordered my DS a ps4 when it was released at 12:30am and got it within two days..I don't even have amazon prime but it seemed the majority of my shipments from them took only two days!

I also ordered from Kohls, target, barnes and noble, dicks sporting goods, llbean, american eagle and ebay and all arrived quickly and with no issues.

Staples has been amazing! I've never ordered online with them before this year but I'm very impressed...perhaps even better than Amazon.

I guess I was just thinking Christmas gifts, and I didn't buy any from Staples this year, so I didn't include them in my list; but I agree. I love that they have the form you can leave at your door letting them know whether you want them to get a signature or just drop the package. I've always had my items next day, and a couple of times I placed my order pretty late at night.

Staples goes on my best list too. :thumbsup2

My absolute best was Sun and Ski. Bought a Northface coat from them and got it like 1 or 2 days after I ordered it. I was amazed!!! Amazon was great too as always.

No real "worst" as all were timely. Maybe the Disney Store was the slowest out of the bunch.

Macys is #1 here. Had my order within a week.
Disney store is next, took about 10 days.
Forever 21-just under 2 weeks.
DSW-just ordered last weekend, but my anticipated delivery is Monday.
Kohls-1st item came in 5 days, the other item has generated 3 emails stating the item has shipped, but it has not arrived.

Best: Amazon (always!), Target, Old Navy

Worst: JCPenney. Navigating their site is like having teeth pulled.

It's always interesting to compare chapters.indigo.ca, amazon.ca and amazon.com for books.

Amazon.com usually has the best prices and best availability of obscure items, but you don't get free shipping. Once upon a time I think that their default international shipping option resulted in being dinged up to $35 or so in customs brokerage fees (upon delivery) but that's not the case any more. As far as I can tell they build a modest handling/brokerage fee or something into the shipping charges. The only bummer is when it's something that can't be shipped to Canada. Usually when that happens it's not Amazon but an "associated vendor" (or whatever they call them) who doesn't want to ship internationally. When it's something really desirable and the discount is big enough, we have it shipped to the nearest UPS store across the border in the USA and make a trip to pick it up. You have to take into account the time (3 hours or so from Ottawa), gas (maybe $30), bridge tolls (around $7) and UPS fees ($5/package) and you have to declare your packages and pay GST or HST when you return to Canada (they know that you've been there only 15 minutes and you've been to the UPS store!) These costs are partly offset by the savings from filling your car with gas before returning (which you don't have to declare).

Surprisingly to me, amazon.ca doesn't have the same items as amazon.com or even the same (or similar) prices. My impression of it is that it's similar to chapters with respect to selection, prices and shipping rates (or availability of free shipping).

Chapters is often a disappointment to me when I comparison shop with amazon.com, but every holiday season it's guaranteed that our family will receive several "chapters cards" as gifts because it's easy to purchase these at Chapters or Coles bookstores. What happens is we transfer these cards to our online account. The account balance builds up for a while because we most frequently order stuff from amazon, but then we say, "gosh we have a lot built up at chapters" and we make a big order for Christmas presents or whatever.

Moral of the story: for books, CDs, DVDs always compare amazon.com, amazon.ca and chapters.indigo.ca for availability, price and shipping options. If you're giving gift cards, I recommend giving amazon.com because I think it's the overall best place for online shopping. They're the most appreciated book-related gift cards in my house and they can be used to purchase lots of other stuff as well.
