Hey guys!

The "secret" bloggers have been BUSY! They've posted a ton of new stuff, but I was away on vacation. Give me some time to catch up here at home, and I'll post some of their new stuff!

Getting ready to send out the next batch of documents of this thread! :)

:thumbsup2

The mountains in the Canada pavilion also use forced perspective..the plants at the bottom are much larger than those at the top, making them seem taller than they are.

In the American Adventure, Ben Franklin doesn't actually walk the stairs to Thomas Jefferson's study...he's actually incrementally lifted into place one step at a time. The railing makes it look like he is walking up stairs.

Very cool...I didn't know that about Ben Franklin!

Thanks guys! I love doing it!

All my men here are going to a Braves game tonight, so maybe it will be quiet enough to do some blogging! :)

You go Deb!

We've set another trip, New Years again. I'll be getting your list. Good stuff!

Neighbor in Woodstock, Jeff

Hey Jeff!!!

How awesome! You're going for New Year's? How fun!

We went last time at New Years. Crowds were heavy up to New Years Day and thinned out a lot.

We did our ADR for the Raglan Road Irish Pub at DTD for New Years eve. Maybe we can get a window seat and watch the fireworks.

Of course, all these are from Disney Shawn! :thumbsup2

**********

Space Mountain reopened last fall after an extended refurbishment that brought an interactive queue, updated aesthetic and new special effects to this Magic Kingdom classic. The effort also resulted in the introduction of several examples of Hidden Disney.

Space Mountain's role in the story of Tomorrowland has always been the space port, where passengers and cargo are constantly coming and going. Now, this space port has a name: Starport Seven-Five, a reference to the 1975 opening date of the attraction.

A board just inside the entrance identifies some of the connecting systems and star gates accessible from Starport Seven-Five. Look closely at the Active Earth Stations. They're nods to the five Space Mountains in Disney Parks around the world.

(Insert: Did you guys know that? I did not!!!)

TOMORROWLAND STATION MK-1
Magic Kingdom (the first Space Mountain)

TL SPACE STATION 77
Disneyland (opened in 1977)

DISCOVERY LANDING STATION - PARIS
Disneyland Paris (located in Discoveryland)

A****A BASE - TOKYO
Tokyo Disneyland ("a****a" is Japanese for "tomorrow")

HK SPACEPORT E-TKT
Hong Kong Disneyland (with a reference to the "E" Ticket)

Once we touch down, we find ourselves at Tomorrowland Station MK-1.

Just past the Command Center is Baggage Claim. From the looks of things, our fellow travelers have been getting around. Stickers on the luggage mark trips to the dwarf planets of Ceres and Pluto, as well as destinations like Luna Port and Titania.

Some people have apparently also been time traveling back to visit some extinct Disney attractions. Mesa Verde was the desert community featured on Horizons at Epcot (where they were growing those great smelling oranges), and Space Station X-1 was an opening day attraction at Disneyland that offered Guests a satellite view of America (in the form of a painting seen from a rotating viewing platform).

(Insert: Again, more stuff I normally walk right by, but now, I know about!)

Here is a little bit more on TSI from the wonderful Jack Spence! There are so many things about this island that are never brought to light. I love that more and more information keeps popping up:

Potter’s Windmill was named after Muff Potter, a friend of Injun Joe. Potter was a drunken fisherman and good friends with Tom and Huck. He was also framed for the murder of Doc Robinson by Injun Joe.

The entire island was planted by Disney horticulturists.

Harper’s Mill pays homage to one of Walt’s early animation triumphs.

In 1937, Walt Disney produced “The Old Mill,” one of the Silly Symphonies.

This was the first film to use the multiplane camera, a device that added depth of field to animation. This film also depicted realistic animal behavior, wind and rain effects, and new lighting techniques.

So innovative was this film that it won the 1937 Academy Award for Best Short Subject, Cartoon.

In one scene of the film, we see a bird that has made her nest inside a gear socket located within the old mill. As a storm outside starts to rage, the gears start to move, threatening to crush the mother and her eggs as the gears join together. But fate is with the bird and the opposing gear is missing one of its teeth, thus, the bird is never crushed.

Inside Harper’s Mill on Tom Sawyer Island is a complex set of gears used to grind grain. Within one of these gears you can see a small bird sitting on her nest. She too spins around as the waterwheel outside turns. But this bird is also spared a disastrous ending as the gears never quite crush her.

There can be no mistake that this is a tribute to one of Walt Disney’s early masterpieces.

You're quick! Thanks! :thumbsup2
:rotfl: I took it on last year's trip. Not easy to get a good pick as the wheel is constantly spinning - I took quite a few before I got a reasonable one. I love these little details! Thank you for posting them all!:thumbsup2

Wow, I was looking at your signature. You've been to DLP all those times, and you are actually coming to the states for a visit in a week?

Amazing!

That is impressive. I'm not sure I could ever get my DH to agree to all those trips!

Have a great time next week!!

Not sure if this has been posed here yet so i'm sorry if it has...

On my family's second last trip to florida (august 2007) we decided to try something that we have heard of a few times but never really believed and it worked! Before we go to Disney very time me & my little sister research disney secrets, we probably know every secret known to man, I am pretty sure that this is a little known one...

Outside of The Great Movie Ride there are two lions, we were told that if you could correcly identify which was the male and which was the female you could jump to the front of the line!! we were skeptical at first but we decided to give it a try anyways. We talked to a CM and they said that they had nve heard of this before:confused3 but he decided to call his boss over and see if it was true. Good news for us it was:woohoo:. We spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out which one was which (scared to death that we would get it wrong). After much debating we got it correct and were escorted to the VERY FRONT of the line:thumbsup2. nedless to say we felt like celebrities. I jus wanted to share this little secret with people and see if anyone else has tried or heard of it or even give people the chance to try it if they haven't heard of it.
