Jumping on Webmaster Pete's idea - I've never been to either one of the water parks.

Could you list your hints, tips and ideas for TL?

Michael

I too am interested as this will be the only water park open during my visit in December.......(hoping for warm weather)

We like to arrive at TL about 15 minutes before opening.
We bring our own towels but rent a locker for our other belongings. While one of us rents the locker, the other one hurries to get "our spot".
We love sitting up by the back wall of the wave pool. We always sit in the same spot, we love all the sounds and sights from that area. It's easy to get to most of the slides, the lazy river, the restrooms, and the food stands.
We LOVE Typhoon Lagoon, have a great time!

orbital62, you are in the Dis Yearbook! ;)
The Yearbook is on the Community Board and your yearbook picture is on page 56. :)

Use water shoes. the bottom of their pool is really rough and can tear up your feet.

Snorkel! It was so fun, and free!

When you're in the wave pool, and you hear a loud horn noise, get ready, that wave is going to come and kick your butt very soon.;)

Oh, and if you're not a strong swimmer, don't go too far out, that wave is REALLY powerful. And if you're closer to shore, be careful as the wave comes in, it can push you to the bottom and you can get pretty scraped up.

But in my book - Typhoon Lagoon is the High Priest of Waterparks.;)

thinking of going 3-5pm in mar 04. would it still be crowded at that time?

A word of caution-when they tell you on a water slide to cross your legs-they mean it! Hold those babies as tightly closed as you can. All I can say is that I speak from experience here-YIKES!

Also, I was one of those people who got pretty scraped up in the wave pool. It really packs a whallop and will level you if you are not careful.

Loved, Loved, Loved the lazy river-I could have stayed in there all day.

In the shark reef, try to go as slow as the lifeguards will let you so you can really enjoy the whole experience. I was so freaked by the sharks I zoomed across the reef. When I got out, I wanted to do it again since I felt like I didn't really experience it, but it was time to go. :(

I'm hoping it will be open in time for our late Feb trip.

We usually go up to the right as well. Half way between the wave pool and the reef. It seems to be a central location for our activities and provides ample shade. Although in November this trip me may not be looking for shade.

Are you trying to tell me I get to swim with sharks?!?!? :smooth: That is way cool!! I didn't know that about TL.

They're little, harmless sharks, but yes, they are sharks.:D

Drive, if at all possible, and get there early. The buses sometimes stop at other places.

There is a show about water parks on the Travel Channel tomorrow night (8.10) at 9pm EST and it looks like Blizzard Beach and maybe Typhoon Lagoon are on there!

TL is usually closed the week of TG for rehab. I would have to assume that goes for the week prior as well . BB will be open.

TG is pretty quiet. The weather is cooler (70's-80's). You'll usually find a good warm day to go.

(1) Got there early (~10 min after the opening).
(2) Do not bother with the locker. We had our hopper passes, credit card, and a little cash around my neck in one of those waterproof wallet box (~$2 at my local sport equipment mart). We brought a small ice chest filled with water, capri sun, and candies. We also brought a few towels, a bag of chips, and waterproof one time-use camera.
(3) Played hard early, and left before lunch so that we had some energy left afterward to do other things.

Are there visible clocks in TL? We are going for the morning, but I burn easily and would like to know the time without risking a watch.

Also--I am a weanie when it comes to heights---are Keelhaul Falls fairly tame or should I stick to the River????

Have been most other places in the "World", but NOT the water parks.
