Your best Disney fact or insider story...

On the Wikipedia age for the wildlife express train (rafiki planet watch) it says that the backstory has the train traveling from Lusaka to Nairobi to Kisangani. The train is modeled after eastern African trains.

But maybe more interesting are the notes on the side.

Opening date: April 22, 1998
Closing date: june 1, 2014. I guess I should post that on the rumor boards! :)

Re: feral cats....

We've stayed at every resort on property except 1. The only one I've ever seen cats at is Pop Century...like a PP stated. There's probably cats that have reproduced on their own over there. On our tour we were told the bugs are controlled through various insects ( dragonflys, ladybugs, etc.) being released and lots of different type birds.

There was a mother cat and some kittens at the Poly when we stayed there in 2005.

Feral cat (one of many) at Circle D Corral at DLR:

I didn't get through all of these yet, so I apologize if the following has been mentioned:

At the end if POC, at the treasure room that features Captain Jack Sparrow sitting in the chair, look above the door opening. You will see a crest with the name "Marco Daviso" on it. It was named for Marc Davis, the Imagineer who worked on POC.

As soon as the tour was over, dh and I thought of all kinds of questions we should have asked. But, we're shy and didn't want to draw attention to ourselves, I guess. If we ever do it again, we'll be more prepared.

I did speak up with a few corrections. She said Dole Whip is only available in 2 places in WDW, MK and Poly. I said it was available right now at Epcot during the Food and Wine. And, she said the only time people could stay in the castle suite was if it was won by a family or thru an organization like Make a Wish. I spoke up and said Tom Cruise had stayed there. She did acknowledge both were true.

We had a running joke on our tour as our guide kept saying "Other people would KILL for the information you're getting right here" and my son would whisper "or pay $75"

Maybe they got confused about Jungle Cruise, River Cruise, Suri Cruise and felt she belonged there. :)

I am definitely looking for feral cats on the next trip,

I do believe that is new. :thumbsup2. Thanks, and it is a cool thing to know.

That is funny. It is probably a better choice to pay the $75.00.

is it true this is closing?????

Ok...I have a few more:

Look at the shutters on the houses in Liberty Square. They are sagging. This is because during Colonial times, the hinges were made out of leather instead of metal, and this caused the shutters to eventually sag. Soldiers used the metal.

Also in Liberty Square, look in the upstairs windows of the houses. You will see a rifle ("one if by land") in one and two lanterns ("two if by sea") in another. Nice tribute to Paul Revere!

I have no idea what that means! Here is the page.

I wouldn't worry about it closing, but you have to admit it is interesting to see it there.

:)

This hasn't been scheduled for closing on the official Disney documents, so I wouldn't count on it. Some attractions that are scheduled for closing in the near future are the Mad Tea Party, and Festival of the Lion King.

Temporary, both. MTP for standard maintenance, LK is moving.

I knew that post would get a quick reaction. ;)

What is your source for this?

I think saying that a Victorian seaside resort matches up with turn of the century small town USA is a real stretch.

My source is my once upon a time class

Im just relaying what they told me, I'm not sure I believe it because of the grand, but its architecture does somewhat fit in with main street in the sense that they are close to the same time period. But my biggest problem with it is where would the venetian and the other planned hotels fit in, i mean the persian resort could fit into adventure land but its a bit of a reach

I have read about the fire place at wilderness lodge representing the rock strata of the Grand Canyon in color and size. But, I have never paid any attention. I think a trip over there might be fun, and maybe check out artists point.

For this project, I need a list of as many fantasia references at wdw.

The big hat at DHS and fantasia gardens are obvious.

What are your favorites?

Fantasmic and the brooms and topiary outside Brown Derby.

for Fantasia references

in the Great Movie Ride there's a Fantasia area (brief but there).

Also at the end of GMR when they're showing the movie clips there's one of the hippo dancing

I would think there would be something in One Man's Dream but I"m drawing a blank

of course you can meet Mickey as Sorcerer Mickey in DHS

Isn't Philharmagic a play on Fantasia?

There's a Sorcerer Mickey on top of the Animation Courtyard building as I recall

The original plan was to close this down and replace as part of Avatar world. Not sure if it's still the plan.
