your best Disney decision

convincing my Disney skeptical husband to attend a work conference on site. He had "no skin in the game" (i.e. trip totally paid for by work) so agreed. We have been back 4 times since!

Taking our first trip onsite with FD and just the immediate family (us and the three kids). It was the start of many vacations where we didn't drag everyone with us and we enjoyed our kids SOOO much! We've only gotten FD one other time but now that we've developed a love for some of the TS places and the TS experience in general, we include it in the budget.

I love that the Dis is a great place to share advice so that others can have awesome Disney trips. So what is the best Disney decision you made that helped make your trip awesome? Here's one of mine: we trusted our gut and got a stroller for our 4 year-old twins on our last trip. After walking from the parking lot to Akershus in Epcot hubby turned to me and said "ok this just paid for itself!" That stroller definitely helped us tour the way we wanted. I have other things that were great decisions (and a few terrible decisions) but what are your great Disney decisions?

We Bought into DVC...Now we have a lifetime of Memory Making...:teeth::jumping1:

Opting to stay offsite on our first trip. We almost booked onsite with free dining, but chose offsite when we saw WBC come up. Cramming into hotel rooms and being forced to eat restaurant food three meals a day for a whole week would have sucked a lot of joy out of that trip.

That was the first trip ever where we truly ditched hotels, and it changed our travel style forever. We travel a lot more now because we rent condos and houses.

  1. DVC!!!
  2. Agreeing to go to WDW for part of our honeymoon when my husband suggested it in 1992. Little did he know he was creating a monster!

LoL <---Laffin @ #2. For this was the opposite.....My DW suggested this as part of our honeymoon and I never looked back..LoL And #1 too.

Taking my young kids to MK for pm EMH. Those midnight to 2am hours were truly magical and we all just slept in the next day. DD's favorite disney memory is from years ago. Riding the carousel at 1 or 2 am and having a few characters join us. Chip and Dale stood on each side of her for the entire ride. :)

Only doing two park days and leaving before 8:00 PM with my son's first trip (2 years, 2 months).

I had friends who had similarly aged kids (and went as a very large multi-family group) and they did like 5 straight park days (at the same time as our trip) .. and they were exhausted and cranky by the end of the trip (so were the kids!)

Going by ourselves as a family (just the 3 of us)..... no extended family.
We currently go with extended family who live far away (my folks). We always invite them because we feel like it's an obilgation. I'm an only child and our kids are my praents only grandkids. I feel guilty for being 4000 miles away from them. So all our vacation time/money is spent seeing them. Either flying home ($$$$$$$$$$$) or meeting at WDW so we at lest also get a vacation out of it (I don't know but going back to the place you grew up and staying in your bedroom doesn't really do it for me...). I am looking forward to doing a Disney vacation just teh 4 of us, which is why we are talking about doing Aulani next year or a Disney cruise. Partly because I'm not sure they would pay the money to do it and that would allow us time with just the family.

We also live on the left coast so a DLR vacation might be another option. I can promise you they won't fly to California for 4 days at DL haha

Skipping Disney transportation and renting a car! Best money we ever spent and made our trip so much more enjoyable.
Really??? Tell me more... I go once a year and will exclusively use bus transportation. I haven't encountered many problems with this really. Is car transport faster in your opinion? Or are you saying this because car transportation is great for leaving the parks at closing when infinite people are cramming onto buses :) Just curious to hear why. Good comment

Making sure we had the regular dining plan instead of all quick service, and used most of our table service credits for character meals. It gave us a lot more time for rides rather than standing around in hot lines for meet and greets (which I'm not a big fan of lol), since we met the most important ones on our lists at our meals....
