The best breakfast is any one that gets you into a park an hour before opening! Done eating and already inside when ropedrop happens! :thumbsup2

can't vote because I never had a character breakfast, BUT we have CP and Tusker House scheduled for our trip...can't wait. :woohoo: especially after hearing how much ya'll like both of them!

Another vote for Chef Mickey's. We love the character interaction.

I can't vote b/c I can't decide!!! :lmao:

Our top 1 faves are Crystal Palace (pre-park opening) and 1900 Park Fare.

Side note- we HATED (and I mean HATED) breakfast at Tusker House. Biggest waste of time and $ our last trip.

We're trying Chef Mickey's for breakfast this trip. Surely, the breakfast food has to be better than the dinner food!

What happen at Tusker House that makes you hate it so much??

We've done CP once and Tusker House twice.

We loved getting into MK early and being in a prime spot when the let us in to Fantasyland. The character interaction was nice. And Piglet is my favorite so that was cute.

Tuskerhouse was great food and a lot of fun as well. The last time we didn't enjoy it as much. By the second time you had to have your picture taken outside with Donald. It felt a little rushed and forced. We would have preferred not to have pictures done at that point. It wasn't a big deal but felt different than the first time.

This time we have reservations for CP again and Cape May for the first time.:)

I must admit, I've very suprised that CP is far and away gotten the highest votes. We did breakfast, and I'm not a huge breakfast eater, and the characters aren't anywhere near my favorite, so for me, its on the bottom of my list.
I'm also really suprised that CRT only has (to date) 4 votes!!! I wonder if it would have more votes if it were only 1 TS credit.....

ETA - Princess Storybook Dining only has 3 votes???? Crazy!

It was a combination of things...the biggest problem was the character interaction. Every single character had lackluster energy and barely interacted with the kids. I thought it was just us, but I heard other patrons saying things like "that Mickey wasn't nearly as sweet as the one at Chef Mickey's" or "mommy, why wouldn't Goofy goof around with me like he did yesterday?" Daisy was the biggest letdown. It was our first time meeting her all trip and she was so standoffish that my kids actually thought she was kind of mean. We did 6 character meals and this was the only time we'd encountered such a wet blanket bunch of characters. It seriously felt like every character needed a strong cup of coffee. Considering it's a character meal and that's what you're really paying for- I felt like I threw my $ away that morning. They also seated us in the section where Daisy does her parade, which they said was a "table upgrade," but since the parade is sooooo small (compared to Crystal Palace and Akershus) that we suddenly had every parent in the restaurant crowding in on us and bumping us. The food was also a bit of a let down. I mean- the normal breakfast items like eggs and sausage were fine, but the more "exotic" items were disappointingly bland... and a few things either cooked too long or sat too long b/c they were horribly dried out (odd since we had the 8:10 am ADR slot). Our server also wasn't the brightest- my kids were sad about giving up their musical instruments, but the server and I gave them a speech about how other kids will need them...just to have her put the bin instruments right behind us (they weren't there earlier) - causing major drama with the kids. At least that was towards the end of our meal and we were ready to book and get out into the park. Of course, it didn't help that our bus was a bit late - causing us to sprint from the entrance back to Tusker, but that's not the restaurant's fault. And at least I knew Donald didn't sign autographs before going into this- so I was able to prep the kids for this in advance.

FYI...we do think the breakfast food is much better then the dinner. LOL to us the dinner food is yuck, but we go only for the character interaction. I am sure you will enjoy your breakfast at CM. Have fun.

My vote was for The Princess Storybook Dining for breakfast of course. It has become our family tradition to eat here before the park opens on our first full day in Disney. Others that we can't go to Disney without is Cape May Cafe and Crystal Palace breakfast, again before the park is opened.

Sorry to hear this. Normally the character interaction is pretty good at Tusker House, but we did notice it was a bit rushed on our last visit.

I am confused about the putting the instruments back comment, and find your comment about the server to be very rude. I'm thinking you would not like it if someone made a comment about the intelligence of your children in not understanding how to put a toy back where it belongs...but maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean here? Incidentally, the instruments do go back in the bin, to be used later by other children. They are not to be left at the tables for children to play with. Not sure why this was a problem for your family? My kids always knew from very young ages that the instruments go back in the bin, as soon as the parade is over. Maybe I am misunderstanding, but this is how it's done, so I don't think it's fair to add this to the list of complaints about the restaurant.

My review might change after we go this Fall and try all the rest but here's my take on last Fall's visit.

Hollywood and Vine. By a landslide. And it blew me away because I had low expectations. The characters were great, the singing was cool, getting the kids moving around (because mine don't sit still to begin with), and then encouraging the kids to sit and eat a bit between sets - all won me over hard core. My kids didn't know any of the characters before we went (we didn't have the Disney channel until about a week ago) but they fell in love with Oso and Handy Manny.

Cape May - waaaay too formal and stuffy IMO. But the food was fine.

Crystal Palace - lovely atmosphere but the character 'visits' felt rushed and robotic.
