How will your young teens be spending their summer? My daughter will be 14 in August and will be entering high school in September. I'm curious about what other kids her age will be do this summer.

My DD13 isn't interested in going away to camp, (and honestly, I'm not crazy about the idea anyway), and she is really too young to get a job. We moved into a new house last fall and our old house had a pool, so I know she's going to miss that. I always have my summers off, so I'll be home with her. Her older siblings are college-age and will be here and there, working, etc. We are taking our vacation the end of May, so no summer vacation to look forward to.

So, how will your young teens be spending their summer? Maybe I can get some ideas!:D

Gosh, what are her hobbies?

For my daughter (15), she tried to get a summer job..........no one hires til age 16.

So the summers are spent doing what there is never enough time to do during the school year!

She loves to read, she watches cooking shows on TV, and she has some chores around the house.

She has so many responsibilities during the school year that I like to make it as easy as possible during the summer! (They are only carefree kids for a short time).

Well, i'm 13 and so far for the summer, I have

summer track and field league
3 weeks of Basketball camps, 4 different camps
Tennis league
LOTS of days at the beach
Trips to PA, Cape Cod, Maryland
Amusment parks
seeing some movies on hot days(if we get any)
Water parks
Kayaking in my Kayak, "The Cap'n Jack"
Reading plenty of books
Writing some stories...or more like finishing the ones I started
Re-decorating my bedroom
Learning how to sew and knit
Sewing some pillows for my new bedroom
Cross-stiching
Shopping:teeth:
Learning to cook.....

i better fit it all in, and I would get a summer job, but they won't hire till next year when i'm 14...when I plan on working in the bakery down the street from me, where me sister works:hyper:

I have a 13 year old who will be high school freshman in Septmeber. she's going back to travel camp for 6 weeks. the camp is in session monday-friday. if they're not on a day trip to a local beach, movie or amusement park, they do a three or four day trip -- last year she went to Hershey, to Virginia, and to the Adirondacks. they were supposed to do a big trip to Toronto and Niagara Falls, but they cancelled because of SARS. I don't know what the trips will be this year.
