Young At Heart: The #BirthdayFestivus13 Adventure!!! 5 UPDATES, 1/8!!!!!!!!!!!!

So many updates to catch up on!! Fab stuff as usual Lia! :) I would kill for half your energy though...you get far more done in a day than I manage to!!

Just a few comments... Firstly, How fun to get drunk at Disney!! I daren't ever do that because I just get very giggly and sing loudly!! :rolleyes2 It's not pretty...!!!!

I also love it when you see characters just randomly walking around the parks. In 2008 we were so lucky because we were at the old Winnie the Pooh play area and Pooh and Tigger suddenly showed up and started playing! I remember my nephew (who was nearly 2) went into Pooh's house and found himself face to face with Tigger in there!! The look on his face was priceless!! Another totally magical moment :goodvibes

I have never eaten at Pinocchio's but think I definitely need to in the future because Gina's Caprese Flatbread looks SO good! I'm a pescetarian (I eat fish but not meat) and my sister's a vegetarian so we're always on the look out for tempting veggie options :thumbsup2

We faced INSANE queues at Cosmic Ray's in May but (like you at Pinocchio's,) I was really impressed by how efficient the CMs were at getting everyone seated :)

Best wishes,
S.xx

Still reading - and still loving this report!!

Go see the Canada movie!! I love the old one and recall liking the new version - but I can't remember if they still use the same Ann Murray "Oh Canada" song - which is on my iPod and I play it all the time!! Ah 80's Epcot Center music, how I love you.

This trip report is truly epic!!

I'm so far behind, but I have a few random thoughts....

Love that you mentioned Romy & Michelle AKA: one of THE BEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME!!!

"Cross dressing Duffy" is the funniest thing I have heard all week... :rotfl2:

I think I have gained 5 pounds just reading your report and looking at your pictures of all of the delicious food.

Thanks for sharing this report with us - you are a very talented writer! :worship: Have a wonderful time on your next trip....hopefully I can get caught up while you're gone.

Oooh another post.

For the record, you are most welcome in Canada anytime!! And THANK YOU for acknowledging the sheer genius that is Martin Short.

Aww isn't that Tigger and Pooh area just the BEST!!! One of the best backdrops" for lack of a better word, EVER.

And not for nothin', but in the group photo, Tigger is seriously an OG.

OK, maybe the best Tower photo I've seen. Gina doesn't look quite so excited.

And you just cannot beat Fantasmic! Well, for me Wishes is still numero uno, but I do have Fantasmic! pencilled in twice for December, both with Fastpass+.

I'm a little jealous of the friendship you girls have! I hope you're able to maintain it through the years. Don't ever let life get in the way!

I had no idea you could meet Pooh and Tigger in Christoper Robin's room! That is going on My List. Thank you for sharing that!!!!

Day 9, Part 1 In Which There Are Dark Places and Scary Dinosaurs In the Big Blue World

Hey guys!! Just so you know, I updated with the last part of Day 8 a couple days ago, but I didn't have time to mark that I updated so some of you may have missed it. It's on the last page.

ALSO I AM GOING TO DISNEY IN 3 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But let me get onto Day 9 because again I am short on time.

This morning Gina and I got up, got ready, and went for a little walk.

10470209993_b8970f00c2_z.jpg

We were headed over to Art of Animation for breakfast!

10470023904_c28f3d2df2_z.jpg

I love sitting underneath the Lion King trees. Which reminds me... I need to watch all the Lion King movies before I leave! I've been alternating watching horror movies (I always watch a ton before Halloween) and Disney movies (I always watch a ton before my Disney trips) which is quite and interesting combination.

Disney chocolate croissants are basically my life so that was all I wanted. Once Gina witnessed the beauty of the chocolate pastry case, she had to get one too.

10470020095_53fd1c1872_z.jpg

We looked around in the gift shop for awhile and I pin traded.

I know I have taken a picture of this before, but I love this drawing. I need to buy it one of these days!

10470019555_770f82fbb4_z.jpg

On the Trivia Board today they had my pal Mickey Mouse!

10470207703_7f541eef76_z.jpg

The answer to the Dumbo joke is squash.

The short they are talking about is really funny. In it, Donald is a door to door brush salesman. None of the humans think it's weird that a talking duck is at their door, they just get angry because they can't understand him due to his crazy voice. So angry in fact that he gets physically beaten every time until he finds a solution to his problem. You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MX5IoLcRes

10470018695_8e12c45f9f_z.jpg

Next we headed to the bus stops. We were off to Animal Kingdom, where one of the CMs at the entrance welcomed us and called us princesses. I love that royal treatment!

Our first stop was Dinoland U.S.A.

10470021204_e07d8d090d_z.jpg

I took a picture of the Din-O-Bite Snacks menu because... well....

10470206803_4eb15ac8bd_z.jpg

MAC AND CHEESE HOT DOG. There's something you don't see very day. I know I've seen it somewhere before but I can't remember where. Not something I would want to try really but it does have its appeal.

Goofy and Pluto were out greeting.

1016066_10200843333382292_1653118324_n.jpg

I really need to meet them in this location, it's so cute. The line was pretty long at this time, though.

There was almost no line for Dinosaur though, yay!

It had dark places and scary dinosaurs.

1017312_10200843334102310_1807520178_n.jpg

We were warned.

I had to take a photo of the famous Droolin' to Extinction poster for Kara (MarieTheCat24):

BKzJ0vlCEAAWh6m.jpg

While we were watching the pre-show, Gina was very wary of the dude who wants to take us back in time, as everyone should be!

She said "I don't trust this guy. I'd rather go with Claire Huxtable."

Our ride photo was yet again a work of art.

1013909_10200843335222338_739282836_n.jpg

Hey, that Carnatorous is no joke!!! hahahaha

After that blast into the past we stopped in the Extinction store. I pin traded and Gina decided it was high time to get one of the character cookies! She chose Ariel.

10470020524_9243dc4ba5_z.jpg

SO CUTE.

I didn't get one because I wanted a Mickey Bar. I went up to one of the ice cream carts and they DIDN'T HAVE IT! This was my first of several attempts to get one. Everywhere in Disney I see TONS of Mickey bars and then when I want one, I can't get it. THAT was weird.

I did pin trade though, of course!

10470016945_e292c5afb3_z.jpg

Some fun ones on that lanyard. Most on the left side but I like that Pooh Bear one too.

10470019564_2011a026e8_z.jpg

Next we headed to the Forbidden Mountain to score a couple of Fastpasses.

1044738_10200843354782827_369121818_n.jpg

I noticed Nemo was just about to start so I asked Gina if she wanted to do it and she said sure! I hadn't seen it since 2011 so I was excited.

1044468_10200843354982832_762361728_n.jpg

Certainly more excited than I look. LOL. We look really weird in that picture.

10470020296_4d9241f248_z.jpg

I love this show. It's obviously incredible and I recommend it. Especially in the summer though, I'd do this before the trails. I mean, during cooler times you can see the animals more active and that's what I personally would do first at those times of year. However, when it's super hot and the animals aren't even moving, you may not want to either. Forty-five minutes in a dark air conditioned place is fabulous! Not to mention you get a Broadway-quality show out of the deal.

Next we headed to Asia for the Jungle Trek. I was really hoping the tigers would be more active than they were the week before, especially because Gina used to be OBSESSED with tigers. Like her entire room was just tiger paraphanalia basically. She had read my TRs so she knew how incredibly active they can be, and I didn't want her to be let down!

On the way, I noticed this currency chart:

10470018154_ebdf39a54b_z.jpg

Very cool!

1011193_10200843366623123_1979817655_n.jpg

This dude was back where he belongs: on his rock! The week before when I was here it was the only time I had EVER seen that dragon off that rock. He was nowhere to be found!

My beloved bats were again being their adorable and flawless selves!! I LOVE THEM.

10470019186_636e0bde43_z.jpg

Here are the tortoises I was talking about the other day that are in with the bats.

Sigh. I love them so much.

Oh so guess what the tigers were doing.

1002269_10200843368543171_182598229_n.jpg

NOTHING. Booooooo. I felt bad for Gina. Hopefully she gets to come back in a cooler time and they'll be doing something! I'd be really disappointed if that was my first trip. Oh well, it happens.

10470016956_0ffe56f6ea_z.jpg

It was nearing our time to hang with the disco-loving mountainous beast who parties inside this mountain!

THE DANCING YETI INN!!

10470200343_a5992165b9_z.jpg

See? I told ya he loves disco dancing.

If I ever open an Inn a la Lorelai, I am 100% naming it the Dancing Yeti Inn. Not only will there be faux yeti fur comforters on the bed, but there will be an audio animatronic dancing/growling Yeti at the door, complete with a disco ball. You know, for realism. If this doesn't being guests in like wildfire, nothing will.

I took a lot of pics during the slower parts of the ride. I love the atmosphere and I needed to document it! WOO!

Our ride photo is one of my favorites because I got cut off which I find hilarious. Gina looks like she's on the phone.

My fave is the kid in the front on the right though. His brain is exploding in this moment.

We got some pictures taken next. I LOVE how these came out!

The PP Photographer was really nice. He told me I photographed very well (he is wrong... I always look in the mirror and I'm like "oh cool" and then someone takes a pic of me and I see it and I'm like OH NO) and had a great smile! I turned into Bashful and was just like GOSH THANKS. Anyway it was nice because I was (again) super tired this day, and also sad because I was dreading leaving. Yeah, I still had like 5 days but I'm so beyond dangerously obsessed with Disney that it doesn't matter.

Then we made our way to Africa. On our way I saw this interesting instrument called Angklung, which is made from bamboo.

10470011934_687f1c9aea_z.jpg

Very cool!

I love the Harambe band.

10470196373_30cacf1840_z.jpg

Once in the village I FINALLY GOT MY MICKEY BAR. That sure took long.

10470006695_db90fbb121_z.jpg

Gina wanted a Safari/Zebra cupcake as she had seen in my TRs, so we went over to Kusafiri!

Day 9, Part 3 In Which Our AK Expedition is Cut Short Due To Italians

So much sugary goodness.

998244_10200843407424143_1052375962_n.jpg

We sat in one of my favorite little Disney nooks and chilled for a bit. It was raining so we were in no rush to move on out of there.

Yum yum.

10470005325_07ce66422a_z.jpg

You may think that the next thing we did was visit the gorillas, take the safari, head to Rafiki's, or see FOTLK.... but we left instead! :/

I have to admit I planned this wrong. I think I wanted us to eat at Via Napoli so bad and they didn't have any other times when I was booking everything so I went with 3:10. I tried to change it to later and they didn't have anything else.

A dinner ADR elsewhere would have made more sense, but I just felt like this was a must-do. I was dying to go back after having a great experience on my October trip and I knew Gina would love this place because she loves Italian food and obviously... the boys. It is one of Jess's top favorites too. Via Napoli is just wonderful for everyone!

So we missed out on some AK time, but hey, you can't do everything. What's perfect about Disney World is that whatever you get to do is going to be amazing. So you miss out on some things, and get to do others. They're all fantastically magical and fun. And we were in for an awesome afternoon and evening in Epcot!

We got in line for the AK bus and the CUTEST BABY EVER was in front of us in his mother's arms. We decided he was the exact real life representation of Tommy Pickles. I'm serious, he looked exactly like him and he was smiling really big at us and we just repeatedly died.

It took SO LONG for the Epcot bus to come! We were meeting up with Jess there, who hadn't been able to join us earlier because she had a morning class and then was helping Mark move out of his CP apartment. Aww. She had actually already arrived in the park and was waiting for us. We met up near the Fountain of Nations and headed into the World Showcase!

HELLO ITALY. BRING ON THE HOT FOOD AND EVEN HOTTER MEN.

1012305_10200843408264164_946677073_n.jpg

We ended up being a little late for our 3:10 reservation, but they had no problem with it. We waited about 10 minutes.

10470008794_8bf2011d27_z.jpg

I have one of those Via Napoli cards on my fridge. My mom got it on our 2011 Christmas trip which is weird because we didn't even eat there. We ate at Tutto! Hmm.

I love my friends.

10470010076_97b134cc23_z.jpg

Gina took this one of me. I RULE.

8595_10200843408624173_1912134145_n.jpg

1002812_10200843409464194_15792356_n.jpg

So we get seated and our server is female. AGAIN?!!? REALLY!?!?? I wanted a hot guy! Ahh my life is so hard. She was a good waitress though.

Because I am a pin trading addicted frump, earlier in the trip I actually ordered another set of traders from Ebay. LOL. It was only like Day 3 when I did that and I had already traded SO MANY PINS. I was gonna run out! It's nice to be in Disney for 2 whole weeks knowing that the new traders would come before my trip was over! I had them mailed to Jess's apartment so she brought them for me and I opened the box right at the table!

BK0EJQ2CQAELoaA.jpg

Some of those are pretty awesome for a set of traders. I was so excited!!!

As for our meal, first we got some bread!

9515344657_a13f68923a_z.jpg

This is similar to what they serve at my favorite places in Little Italy, though not *quite* as good. It's the same style, though, if you will. Yummah.

I knew what I was getting for my entree months in advance. I had been waiting to have this dish again since October!

10514559085_af995b7db6_z.jpg

OH LOOK AT THAT I CAN JUST TASTE IT NOW!!!

It's the Mezzi Rigatoni all Crema con Pollo! Rigatoni with cream, chicken, and peas. AHHHH HDKJHF this is one of my favorite dishes of all time. I love it, I love it, I love it. The flavor is just so perfect and they cook the pasta EXACTLY how I like it which is al dente. One of my favorite Disney dishes ever!

Gina got the Eggplant Parmesan and thought it was amazing! As you can see it also came with potatoes.

10470009606_119a318fac_z.jpg

Jess got the mushroom & pepperoni pizza. She raved about it and said it tasted super fresh!

9515341645_9558d3f6d9_z.jpg

I got up after eating so that I could "go to the bathroom" AKA walk around the restaurant and smile at cute Italians.

I actually did visit the restroom though and I thought their Women's sign was cute.

10470007074_6744dd6fa4_z.jpg

If you'd call that a sign. It's more like art. I love it!

Once I got back, it was that time again. You know which one I'm talking about.

DESSERT TIME!

10470003775_fa6c27b792_z.jpg

It's hard to decide on just one, but the famous Ugly But Good was my choice again. Jess and I shared it because there was NO way we were going to eat one each. This dessert is huge! (and it has a Hidden Mickey)

10470008336_a678efaa4d_z.jpg

AHH I was again so happy to be reunited with this delicious masterpiece! Any time cherry is in a dessert, I just fall in love. This is one of my favorite desserts ever! I highly recommend it, especially if you are on the dining plan. If you aren't, this puppy costs $14!

Gina went with the Tiramisu which was another winner.

1016662_10200843425384592_529257915_n.jpg

After finishing our desserts and handling the bill we set off for a World Showcase adventure! I was super tired and I just wanted to relax and enjoy one of my favorite places in Disney doing the more low key stuff.

We looked around in the Italian shops and refrained from handling the masks.

10470007946_abf119303b_z.jpg

I did not refrain from handling the Italians though. Oops.

These little boxes are kinda creepy which automatically makes me love them.

10470191283_6b2cb2786a_z.jpg

Gina had been freezing ever since it rained and was looking for a sweatshirt of some kind. Most of the stuff in Italy was kinda fancy so we went into the shop in America.

THEY HAD AN AMAZING HAUNTED MANSION ORGAN PIECE ON DISPLAY AHHHHHH.

10470005834_061e9e5fc1_z.jpg

I wish I could buy stuff like this but I literally have NO MORE ROOM FOR DISNEY CRAP. Like, not only is my room overflowing, but I've set up displays in the hall and on the stairwell. SO.

I can't wait til I get my own apartment AKA shrine to Disney/Rock and roll. It will be a very magical and groovy place.

You're all invited!

(Not really. Please don't show up at my future apartment.)

All of that said... I'll probably buy more Disney merchandise on this upcoming trip. I mean, come on. I'm actually getting paid on the second day of my trip, so that's dangerous. In fact, IT'S ON HALLOWEEN!

So expect to find me passed out in a pile of Halloween merchandise and candy apples, somewhere in the back of the Haunted Mansion.

I don't even like candy apples really, but put money in my account in Disney on Halloween and crazy circumstances are going to arise.

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

I took this picture of Gina so she could see what this shirt looked like on. Like Cher Horowitz says, you can't trust mirrors so you must take polaroids. Except this isn't the 90's, so I took an iPhone photo.

10470190183_49f6380b9f_z.jpg

Looks good right? We thought so. She bought it! Thanks for the advice, Cher.

I pin traded in here and then realized out loud, "I am in the mood for an epic theatrical event!!!!"

Luckily for me, The American Adventure was right next door!

10470006216_074b53e2f9_z.jpg

This trip was all about the firsts and I had NEVER seen this show before, can you believe it? I think Jess had seen it but not for years, so she was excited too. Gina was probably the most into it because she loves anything having to do with US history so I knew it was going to be a treat for her.

We walked in and Voices of Liberty were singing. I briefly heard them one time but this time I was BEYOND WOWED.

10470006036_9f6ceecc11_z.jpg

Look at all the children on the floor watching them. These are kids in DISNEY WORLD, and they were sitting quietly watching adults in old fashioned clothing sing a beautiful song.

If that isn't a clue to how fantastic these singers are, I don't know what is.

I moved to get a better view because they were captivating me and I needed the full effect!

10515239953_a12e2b8a16_z.jpg

Oh my God, these people are simply ABSURDLY talented. Like, they could lose 50% of their talent and still be completely remarkable.

10470004054_94dbfd91ba_z.jpg

10470188563_aabc3f47cb_z.jpg

I was amazed by them. You know, people on the DIS are always talking about "Hidden Gems", especially because most of us have been to Disney several times and have done all the major activities. When families come home from a trip to Walt Disney World, they rarely say "Space Mountain rocked, and boy those Voices of Liberty are amazing." It's not one of the things you hear about often, but it's one of the greatest displays of pure talent I've ever seen. And I grew up right outside of New York City. AKA, Broadway. So get going over to The American Adventure and see these incredible performers! They are stunning.

Day 9, Part 4 In Which We're Italian Models

All the quotes in here are very inspiring.

10470003794_5e7d6c73e5_z.jpg

Once they were done it was time to head up to the show!

10470004526_5b5e797127_z.jpg

I thought all the flags were cool. The whole atmosphere in here made me feel like I was on a class trip. It was really funny to me.

We got into the theatre and I was again wowed.

10470002384_ecf8098d67_z.jpg

It was beautiful in there!

I wish I could give you an opinion on this show but I was OUT COLD during 90% of it. The whole thing is a blur. I'm into history but this was Day 9. I was SO FREAKING TIRED and as soon as the lights went out I gave up.

I did have a lovely nap though. I felt great as we walked out.

Oh wait I was awake during this?

10470187323_b2deeccaf4_z.jpg

I also slightly remember the montage at the end. But not really. I WAS JUST SO TIRED.

Jess also slept through most of it except this one part that she explained to me as we left. It was a sad part but I thought it was funny that I had absolutely NO memory of it. Like I was OUT.

Gina stayed concious during the entire show and thoroughly enjoyed it! Good for her.

As we walked out of the American Adventure I got my second wind. That nap helped! I started acting ridiculous. I don't even know how we came to it but Gina and I were talking about American stuff and I started doing the "American Walk" which is basically to just to march really proudly while moving your arms up and down and saying in a deep voice, "I AM AN AMERICANNNNN! THIS IS HOW I WALK!"

Of course we proceeded to do that during the entire rest of the trip like the obnoxious Americans we are!

Hello Showcase.

10469997995_669b7a0982_z.jpg

We went back to Italy because obviously picture taking was necessary!

There was a Photopass Photographer on the bridge, where I had never seen one before. It was the perfect opportunity for a good old fashioned Italian photoshoot.

It is a dream of mine to go to Venice and ride in one of these boats. ONE DAY I WILL DO IT!

10469985134_4379c49520_z.jpg

Until then... thank God for the illusions Epcot presents! And by God, I mean Walt Disney. You know, same thing.

Oh my God I miss the World Showcase SO MUCH right now. I AM SO HAPPY I WILL BE THERE IN A MATTER OF DAYS! What I miss even more is my friends, and SOON I WILL SEE THEM!!!!!!!! wOOOOOOooooO reunited in Disney!!

Must have been someone's anniversary or something. Or maybe it was just a general "Congrats, you're in Disney World!" message. Certainly something to celebrate.

MAY 21, 2013
Day 9, Part 5 IN WHICH WE GET STUCK ON THE MAELSTROM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our next stop was one of my favorites, Germany, where we browsed around in the shops for awhile.

10470185953_832a9400d6_z.jpg

As you can see, Gina was looking good as usual. They are Wine Glasses. GET IT?!

I want these ornaments SO. BAD. With Christmas coming up I may need to pick up a couple. Of course they are like $25 each though, crying 4life.

These ornaments! Perfect!

10470186203_f7e4a82c55_z.jpg

We went into the Rapunzel area and I immediately just grabbed all the Pascals cause Rapunzel is my soul sister and Pascal is her BFF. So it was just an instinct of mine. Jess thought that was so funny but Gina has known me since I was 9 so she was just like yeah this is normal Lia behavior. hahaha

9515333231_b4d68d9e4f_z.jpg

I needed one of the Mozart chocolates that I always get here, so I went up to the register to get one and the CM said I had to show I.D.!

LOL.

I was like "...really?" I wasn't sure if she was kidding. She explained that since it's a chocolate liqueur they can't sell it to anyone underage. She was really apologetic about it and I was like "Don't be sorry, it's fine!" and showed my ID. I think this is a new thing cause I definitely bought these before I was 21. You can hardly taste the liquor, I just love them cause they are really good chocolate and they have MOZART on them!

10470185113_f0e4e1bd06_z.jpg

I mean, if you're going to eat chocolate, there should definitely be a genius on the wrapper.

10469999464_21c33de449_z.jpg

So good.

OMG THESE GLASSES AND BOWLS WERE SO COOL.

10470184083_03bb3b385f_z.jpg

How creative! I mean, they even have Daisy. How perfect can you get?!

Our next stop was the gorgeous China.

10470000216_520d3c762b_z.jpg

10469999506_92328088c1_z.jpg

I wanted to watch Reflections of China because I had never seen it before.

Outside of the building some kid was like, "Mulan is in there!!" all excited. Now Jess and I, being the experienced Disney-goers that we are, looked at each other and were like, "No she's not." Mulan greets outside and I had never heard of her being inside.

We walked in and OMG! The kid was right!! Mulan was in there and there was only ONE GROUP waiting ahead of us. How awesome is that?!?

10515498904_2af327b403_z.jpg

I don't even remember what we talked about, the whole thing was a blur! She did say something about Mushu though and she was really beautiful. It was such a pleasant surprise!

We looked around a bit before watching the film. I wish I knew more about the history of China because I think I could get more out of this pavilion. Luckily you can learn some of it while looking at all the stunning pieces!

10469992915_76566cd81d_z.jpg

The tomb warriors are AMAZING. I can't believe I never even went inside here before.

BK0q6ZeCIAAWDP7.jpg

Then it was time to see Reflections of China!

It was a very interesting and beautiful film. There so many different sides to China and so many places I would want to see, it would be ridiculously hard to narrow it down for a trip. I really hope that one day I will have the money and time for this.

The part of the film I liked the best was about the Harbin Ice Festival. OH MY GOD. I have to see this in person at least once before I die. That, Disneyland, and the great wall are my top 3 things I want to do the most in China.

You may not know what I am talking about (I didn't know anything about this before I saw this film), so let me explain! In Harbin, China the temperature can sometime get as freezing as FORTY BELOW ZERO. First of all if this happened where I lived I would definitely move, but the more awesome option that Chinese artists went with is creating unbelievable ICE SCULPTURES! Now we are not talking the kind that you see at weddings and stuff. Oh no. I'm talkng about GIANT glowing ice sculptures that you can actually WALK THROUGH.

Here is an example of what we are dealing with at the Harbin Ice Festival.

10516189605_950412290f_z.jpg

UM?!?!?!?!?!?! IS ANYONE ELSE GOING TO PASS OUT BECAUSE THIS IS TOO AMAZING TO BE BELIEVED? BECAUSE I AM. OMG.

I don't even know if I can deal with 1 below zero, nevermind 40, but I really hope I get to see this someday. I mean obviously people manage it and don't die of being frozen so I guess I could do it for a walk inside a FROZEN RAINBOW GLOWING ICE CASTLE.

My God. Chinese people rock. I really can't even deal with it! AMAZING AMAZING.

This castle is really nothing. They literally build a city of ice. Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rgfM6_y1As UM YEAH. YEAH AND THERE ARE ICE SLIDES.

I just.

ICE SLIDES!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't.

Whew. Anyway, it was just kind of odd having to turn around repeatedly during this movie. I didn't know where to look! The 360 thing is really cool but not the most convenient way to watch things.

On the way out we saw PARTY BUDDHA!!!

10469997566_3c2ae96f47_z.jpg

WOO! He's always down for a good time, tatas hangin out, no worries. IDK why I didn't take a photo with him as I am also always down to party.

One of the Chinese CMs at the register started talking to me even though I wasn't even buying anything, which I loved bc I love meeting the CMs from around the world!

She was really sweet and asked me where I was from and stuff. She also asked if I have any interest in visiting China and I was like OMG YES and I started gushing about the film and the ice festival and she kept telling me that I absolutely had to come to China and I was like GAH I KNOW I KNOW. Loved her!!

I was in the mood for some good old fashioned SCHOOL BREAD!!! So off we went to KRINGLAAAAAaaAaa!

10469995094_3d075bbe97_z.jpg

You always have to say KringlaAAAAA in a deep manly NorVEgian accent. Just do it, it's fun.

10469996636_861986058c_z.jpg

I shared mine with Jess because I am a very generous angel!! Actually more because lunch was not that long ago at all and we had already had dessert so I wasn't even hungry. But I needed my School Bread!!

Gina got a sweet pretzel and she liked it but wished it didn't have raisins. That was the only thing the whole trip that she would have changed about Disney food.

10469990225_ce54fd6a73_z.jpg

We sat down in the KringlAAaAAAaA area for awhile to eat. After a bit, we noticed there was a woman who had just vomited and was incredibly sick. I say "sick" out of respect since I don't know the situation and it's very possible she WAS sick and not just wasted to within an inch of her life. All I know is, she couldn't sit up straight and Cast Members were calling for assistance. It must have been taking kind of long though because she started to insist she was fine. She clearly wasn't, and I hope everything ended up okay!

We got up, started walking, and talked about where we'd go next. Suddenly Jess realized that Gina had never been on the Maelstrom. And she was like OH MY GOD COME ON LET'S GO SHE HAS TO SEE THIS.

10469994436_1166a68d51_z.jpg

Duh, because this is the best ride ever. After the usual 160 minute wait, we got STUCK ON THE MAELSTROM!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD THE TERROR.

I have good news for John Carpenter, Wes Craven, and all you other masters of horror out there: the plot of your next film just needs to be getting stuck on this ride!

This is the place where the boat just STOPPED DEAD. Jess and I freaked out! Gina didn't know what to expect anyway, but once we started yelling about it I'm sure she was alarmed too.

10470179393_7e1928a584_z.jpg

#StuckOnMaelstrom13

We sllloooowllly started to move back and Jess and I were slightly worried that the ride was totally broken and we would actually go back, back over the falls and meet our DEATH AT THE HANDS OF TROLLS!!! Oh my GOD.

Luckily the ride eventually started working correctly and we did not die. Whew.

Close one.

10469989845_6384f3ebf1_z.jpg

We didn't watch The Spirit of Norway because we had been knocked around quite a bit during the ride and feared falling asleep and therefore aggravating any concussions we may have had.

Norvay is no joke!

@babybritney: WE ALMOST DIED ON THE MAELSTROM

Everyone is always taking pictures of the large troll in the gift shop but I prefer this little guy cause he's old.

10470178823_c4623812a3_z.jpg

After pouring an entire bottle of Layla all over my bodacious bod we walked to Mexico.

Random World Showcase pic, not sure where we were...

I want a donkey magnet.

10516416614_6189b633fb_z.jpg

This is a family board so I will not type the other word for donkey (and I don't mean panchito!). But if you say it to yourself before the word "magnet" and then say "I want an ___ magnet," outloud... you will laugh.

I only provide the highest quality entertainment!!

Day 9, Part 6 In Which Wolfgang Puck Tries To Kill Us With Dessert

Next I felt like Fiesta Hoying to my heart's content so we went to see the Cabelleros.

10469992364_d02c22f43d_z.jpg

There was no line, it was pretty shocking.

In all seriousness though I love this ride. All the boat rides get to me because for some reason when I was little I was amazed by all the boat rides in Disney. I think it was the quality of everything, the details, the water smell. Plus this one has the awesome fireworks at the end which are my fave.

After looking around a bit we went back outside and continued through the showcase to Canada where the sky was again STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL!

10469993656_d177d8bf4e_z.jpg

We moved onto the UK and it was like a deja vu moment of the trip cause we did the same thing as the night before: looked around in the shop and listened to British Revolution. God they just rule so much! I don't think I would ever get tired of going to Epcot and hearing them. I remember watching them on past trips and thinking they rocked but during #BirthdayFestivus13 I was just totally in love with them.

While in the store I hugged a Pooh pillow pet the entire time! I wanted it so bad but I was trying to watch my spending during Week 2 of this huge trip. Gina was doing the same and we were like basically crying over these pillow pets.

I also LOVED this shirt.

10469987875_746a7c0d30_z.jpg

Queen Minnie is not here for your BS.

Jess mentioned that she had really wanted a Beatles sweatshirt in here that she had been meaning to buy for ages so I started urging her to purchase it. Everyone needs a good Beatles shirt. Or if you're me, you need like 39802 of them which is why I didn't buy one!

After that we went outside to watch the band.

1044806_10200843495026333_211072218_n.jpg

I vined:
@babybritney: Are you gonna be my dream tonight? vine.co/v/b9jX3xbZVHm

There was this little girl in a Merida costume who was full on LOVING this band. She was so in her moment just enjoying the music and loving life.

If you want to know what I look like at a Hanson show this is basically it minus the wig. Well, sometimes the wig is included.

Merida <3 British Revolution Vine: vine.co/v/b9jHTTIhZ9z

"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."

I actually got kind of emotional cause the last time I watched that song played live was by Sir Paul himself.

A stadium of 75,000 people all completely losing it, singing the Abbey Road medley and Hey Jude together like we were at Woodstock or something.

I have never seen so many grown adults at such peace all together.

That was a priceless moment in my life and I was definitely taken back to it.

British Revolution may not be the Beatles, but they certainly stir it up in me... whatever it is. You know?

LOVE THEM.

It was almost time for Illuminations so I asked Jess what, in her opinion, was the best place to watch it from. I know she has seen it approximately 56,000 times. I usually watch it from France and I can't remember the last time I didn't.

She said for her it's the bridge between France and the UK, so I was excited to watch from there! But first we needed to make a stop at Les Halles.

994144_10200843495666349_674246287_n.jpg

I love that it still says "Boulangerie Patisserie." I'll probably always refer to it as the Boulangerie.

1013428_10200843517026883_131382914_n.jpg

As soon as I saw the menu for this place online months ago I knew I was going to have a hell of a time deciding on one thing at a time. There's just so much! Small bites, more substantial meals, sweet, savory, ETC.

But as soon as I checked out the offerings I knew I had to get the macaron.

10469987355_6c49f90bf0_z.jpg

These became all the rage a few years ago in NYC, replacing cupcakes as the trendy thing you absolutely had to bring to any kind of get together to even begin to have attention paid to you.

Funnily enough, the first time I had one was in Disney at Boma in April 2010! I IMMEDIATELY fell in love and started getting them all the time in the city. Slowly they started showing up in more bakeries and now I can get them right around the corner from my house, thank GOD.

Usually I buy like 5 or 6 at a time and it's like $8, but they are nowhere near as huge as the one at this bakery, so I just got one. It was like $6.

They only had the one flavor which was raspberry, one of my favorites! I WAS SO EXCITED.

10469986845_2137ea1b2d_z.jpg

It was very good, but to be honest, not the best I've had! My all time favorites are in Koreatown, of all places. Koryodang, 32nd st!

The cream in the middle was EXTREMELY tart. I don't mind tart things but macarons are almost never tart in the middle, at least not in my experience. Maybe I've been eating too many of the Korean variety! Usually there is sweet cream or jam in the middle.

The cookies were very good though, and the raspberries were extremely fresh. Overall I probably wouldn't get this again due to the bounty of choices here, but I'm very glad I tried it! I enjoyed it. Though I've seen pictures on Instagram of more flavors available, so I may have to get more in a few days! Also, they are now coming in the standard smaller size (so I assume they are way less than $6 each, at least I hope so!).

Gina literally just got a baguette.

10470175753_ec38c1a084_z.jpg

She's fierce.

While we were sitting down a Disser came over and said she was sorry for being creepy but she had to say hi to us. She asked me if Hula Timon was around and I said unfortunately no because he was sleeping at Animal Kingdom. I'm really sorry I don't remember your username, but if you are reading, Hi!! You weren't creepy.

It was like two minutes til Illuminations so we booked it out of there expecting the bridge to be beyond packed. The railing was but we stood back against the bushes and had an amazing view.

Illuminations Vine: vine.co/v/b9j9IAJAMij
Illuminations Vine #2: vine.co/v/b9jVF79VrIq

Ahh Illuminations. What is there to say? It's a reflection of earth.

We headed out of Epcot and of course Jess and I sung and danced along to all the music we know so well.

Gina seemed to be enjoying the music too and said, "I wish the three of us could do a synchronized lyrical dance to this on the way out of the park." AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that killed me. Like... just picture it.

It would of course begin with me saying, "I have to dance this out," right after the Illuminations finale.

Now that would be awesome.

Our plan was to go to Downtown Disney for a late dinner at one of my all time favorite restaurants, Wolfgang Puck Express!

Brooke was parked in the Epcot lot so we had to go out through Future World and TAKE THE TRAM!!

Omg. I don't know if you'll understand how awesome this was for me, but I was totally taken back to my childhood again. I didn't ride a Disney bus until literally 2008 because we always had a rent-a-car. So the trams were a huge part of the experience and Gina even knew the spiel before we got on because I used to loudly announce it at school like every single day. "Welcome. Please lower your head and watch your step as you exit the tram. Bienvenido.." ETC. It was so funny when we got on and Gina started reciting it too even though she had never even been on one before. LOL

I was also surprised because the trams have little DOORS on them now! Whoa.

We found Brooke and drove to Downtown Disney. I was in control of Jess's iPod which is connected to her stereo and I was playing the princess greatest hits. You know, "Belle", "A Whole New World", "Part of Your World", etc. All three of us are singers so we were SERVING IT UP. Omg, we rocked it.

@babybritney: Major Disney sing a long going on in the car right now. Seriously people should pay to see us.

WHY are we not working in Disney entertainment again? Tell me why!! Ain't nothin' but a heartache. Ain't nothin but a mistake!!! Tell me why!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Miraculously we found a parking spot right away which thrilled Jess since parking at DTD is like the torture of her life. So that was awesome!

First we went to World of Disney. A dangerous place but again I succeeded in not buying anything. Go me... I guess!

10469989204_a547bf19a6_z.jpg

This art is on the ceiling.

10469985265_12b062b9f4_z.jpg

Don't you remember my #1 rule of Disney? No, it's not no sleeping. It's LOOK UP!

Belle in front of the Atlantica castle. Foreshadowing of her and Ariel being neighbors in New Fantasyland?

10470173793_a13ccf261d_z.jpg

Gina and I had to use the bathroom and Jess said she was going to look around in Tren-D. Once we got in there of course she was in the Fitting Room. This girl can't NOT buy Disney Merchandise. It's like air and water... necessary to life.

She ended up getting a really pretty Belle tank top. I pin traded and then we went to EAT! Oh yeah.

10469979615_4df00a95ca_z.jpg

Don't mind if we do!

After looking at the menu outside we all made our choices and sat down with our desserts. I got a sugar sprinkle cookie (like I always do) and Gina got a brownie. I don't think Jess got dessert this time.

10469979125_fc619c9c4a_z.jpg

When we sat down to wait for our food we had the funniest thing happen. Gina and I did the EXACT SAME THING at the exact same moment. Literally in unison, we put our phones down, put our elbows on the table, put our right arm to our chin, and sighed.

We saw each other do it and then exploded into laughter. HAHAHAHA omg I still have to laugh thinking about it now. That's what happens when you've been friends for 14 years!

I had to take a pic of her in the position we both did cause it was just too funny.

10469981864_d219fc7edb_z.jpg

We were laughing for so long. It was seriously one of the funniest moments of the trip. OH US.

After a bit, our food was ready. I decided to try another new thing since the meat loaf the other day had been so successful. I got the Spaghetti & Meatballs!

10470167383_c6525f3a5b_z.jpg

I wasn't even that hungry and when I got this dish I was like wow, I am so not going to finish this. Cut to the end of our meal and I finished almost the entire thing! Shocking.

Jess went with a classic, the mac & cheese.

10469978875_b02e495ee4_z.jpg

Gina got the Roasted Vegetable Sandwich with buffalo mozzarella, pesto, lettuce, tomato, and horseradish cream. She absolutely loved it but wasn't really hungry enough to fully appreciate it. Oh, the dining plan.

9515324737_fd6f17d785_z.jpg

Don't worry... she got it again a couple days later and once again enjoyed it!

Once we finished we were all like ready to be rolled out of there. Due to eating a big late lunch and snacking all afternoon, we weren't that hungry to begin with so by the time we ate these delicious big meals we were ridiculously full.

The restaurant was closing and so you know what happened next. WE GOT THREE FREE DESSERTS.

10470167053_2e6718bb12_z.jpg

10469983126_79e014454d_z.jpg

We groaned. We wished we could enjoy these but we were SO FULL! We didn't even touch the cheesecake knowing it could be wrapped up for later, but we all had a bit of the creme brulees and they was so good. I just wish I had even half an ounce of stomach space for it!

When we were leaving Disney 5 days later, we remembered the cheesecake in the fridge. Jess was like "Oh oops, I ate half of that when I got out of work. Sorry!" That frump!!!!!!

JK. I was happy at least one of us got to eat it, cause Gina & I tried to take the other half home and it got all crushed and melty. Oh well.

Take note: If you're at WGP near closing, save room for a possible free dessert!

Hey, at least you know the dessert you get isn't from the day before. Pretty cool that they don't just freeze them. Quality, people!!

There were more Disney sing a longs in the car on the way back to the resort and that's all I remember from Day 9. Whew! What a day. I was SO tired and very excited to hit the bed. I set up our wake-up call for early the next morning and off to sleep we went.

"Thank you for staying with us. We wish you magical dreams."

CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS!!!!!!! WANT NOW PLEASE.

For some reason I laughed really hard at the picture you took of the Din-O-Bite snack menu because I have a weird, squinty expression on my face in the reflection. (Frump.) :upsidedow

I showed my mom our ride photo from Dinosaur and she like peed her pants laughing.

When you mentioned the disco-loving yeti, I immediately thought of this.
That picture you took on Everest with Epcot and ToT in the distance is beautiful!!!!!
I also love our Everest ride picture. I was clearly on my bluetooth talking to my husband Milo because he just can't get enough of me, even when I am on a rollercoaster in Disney. ::yes::
And HOLY CRAP that kid in the front looks like he won the lottery.

I was JUST thinking about that Tommy Pickles baby today!!!!! Weird.

I love my Disney sweater! I wish I could wear it more often but it's too goldarn hot here.

YAY AMERICAN ADVENTURE! Seriously one of my favorite things. Yes, I am a giant nerd. The Voices of Liberty were amazing and I want all of their clothes. I wish I could have that job! I also felt like I was on a class trip at American Adventure but I always loved historical field trips. Glad you guys caught up on some sleep while I was being a history geek.
And I swear the American Walk was from something. Like a picture we saw or something? It didn't just come out of the blue but I can't remember why we started doing it. (Because we are awesome.)

Oh NO, don't remind me of our traumatic Maelstrom experience! I AM STILL IN THERAPY FOR PTSD!

Hahaha I love how amused you guys are that I just bought a baguette and ate it. I'm not sure anyone really understands my love for bread. Also I WANTED a demi-baguette but they didn't have any, which is why I got a big one instead. (Which would turn out to be a large mistake due to the Night of Free Desserts.)

Gina seemed to be enjoying the music too and said, "I wish the three of us could do a synchronized lyrical dance to this on the way out of the park." AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that killed me. Like... just picture it.
We must work on this.
Also that Disney sing-along in the car was EPIC. Again please!

HAHA OMG I totally forgot about doing that thing at the same time. We are so weird. That is a little too much synchronicity, it's creepy. :rotfl:

I can't believe I'm going to see you in 6 days!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Oh Chandler, you are the best!

Living with the land is so perfect! I wish I could smell it right now too!

I've been reading along. So much great info and entertaining too! I was telling my 4.5 year old daughter about the chocolate croissant you got at Art of Animation. She even looked at the pic and said "Mommy, can I get that next time?" Lol. She thought the sugar on top looked really yummy. :)

I had never heard of cast connections but there needs to be a friend finder social networking site for meeting some CMs!! Lol jk. But it really would be awesome to know someone who works at Disney. I wonder if Disney Store employees have access to that store too or if its just for the park CMs?

So the school bread looks yummy. On my list of foods to try. The macaroon thing (am I spelling it right?) looked good too! Also WPE is one of our favorites! We discovered it on our 1st trip and loved it so much. Great quality at good prices.

Yay!! You guys certainly had a blast getting drunk at DTD! Lol!! It’s definitely something that I’ll have to add to my list of things to do!!

Wow that’s an awesome deal on the ticket, glad that worked out! And that is some crazy shenanigans about the tickets, good thing it got all sorted, and thank goodness for smart phones!

Love all the baby stuffed animals! Bambis so cute!

Wait…when did you change from the tie dye shirt to the hot topic tank!?!? Lol

I would join you in the cry fest if the people mover was ever to leave, hands down one of my favorites!!

Wait, the mickey cookie on the bottom left? I thought I saw a ddp logo on there? Heh, I’m usually the crazy one bahaha. Glad she got a cookie in the end, all Disney cookies are delicious!

Awe, too bad Phillharmagic made her nauseas! It happens to be a bunch too, moreso it hurts my head, I can’t do imax or some 3d stuff either!

THAT LEMONADE!! SO MUCH YUM!! Also the flatbread is super freaking delicious too! I really need to look around Pinnocchios more! I definitely plan on eating there next week! AH NEXT WEEK WHAT THIS IS INSANE! Although I also really want to eat at BOG for lunch, so we’ll see how that works out lol.

Awe, love the shots of you guys in the chair, that’s definitely true friendship lol! Pirates is definitely one of those attractions, everyone needs to do it, it’s classic, it’s great!

Ah what an amazing garden grill experience, especially with mickey!! How wonderful!!

KATT YOU'RE IN DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

I changed before we left for the parks. It was just really hot and I needed a tank top!

No, it wasn't the one on the bottom left. It's in the middle toward the top, I think. (:

Pinocchio's is great, I hope you did eat there or are going to! At the very least just to get the lemonade. I plan on stopping in there on my first day to get the lemonade for sure. :D I AM SO EXCITED!!! I think it's insane that I am going too, I still don't believe it, so you are not alone in that. Same with BoG for lunch. I hope I can FINALLY eat there.

Best wishes,
S.xx

Trust me, the energy was waning during this second week! I swear it's the only drawback to having 2 weeks in Disney... you're tired from week 1!

That Winnie the Pooh story is SO CUTE!! Aww. I love hearing stuff like that.

Make sure you tell them you are a vegetarian every single place you eat (even CS) and ask what your options are! So many of them are not on the menu. Luckily the caprese flatbread is, though.

Thank you!!

I will definitely see it on this next trip!

Glad someone appreciated the Romy and Michele reference!!

Thank you SO much. I hope you enjoy catching up!

Thank you!!! Hopefully I will be able to visit someday soon! Everyone I know who has been there loves it. I've been to Buffalo so all I have to do is hop the border, right? (:

hahaha oh Tigger. :rotfl2:'

Ooh, look at you with your Fastpass+ & double fantasmics!! THAT IS GONNA BE AWESOME!!

I'm a little jealous of the friendship you girls have! I hope you're able to maintain it through the years. Don't ever let life get in the way!

I had no idea you could meet Pooh and Tigger in Christoper Robin's room! That is going on My List. Thank you for sharing that!!!!

Aww! I mean we have been friends for this long so I can't imagine what would break us up in the future, even though life is crazy.

I didn't know until a couple of months before the trip and I could not BELIEVE I missed it. I mean, I knew there was a room back there but I didn't realize it was CHRISTOPHER ROBIN'S ROOM. OH.

:cheer2:

I NOTICED YOUR FACE AS WELL hahahaha. Your vegetarian self just could not take the hot dog part of it.

That scene with Big Foot is one of the best things ever committed to film, PERIOD. I mean that sincerely. It's just. So beautiful.

Milo is kind of desperate at this point. He needs to calm down. That reminds me of Taylor calling me on the phone booths in the UK, like enough already.

I'm really happy we did that even though I fell asleep during it. And I just realized I forgot to put the firsts at the end of these updates AGAIN. oops.

Oh Chandler, you are the best!

Living with the land is so perfect! I wish I could smell it right now too!

He really is the best!!

I will be smelling it soon... wish you could too!!

Thanks for reading! The sugar is delicious, your daughter is right! I hope she enjoys it next time you guys go!

That would be a wonderful social networking site! I mean... they have dating sites for people who like to pretend to be vampires, so it wouldn't be that weird. LOL

No, it's macaron, but it's pronounced mac-a-ROON. When you spell it macaroons, that's a different kind of cookie. They are delicious!! I hope you get to try the school bread as well!

Lia I am sitting at work catching up and loving all your updates! I am going to Disney on SUNDAY for two weeks and can't wait to take lots of your tips!

I wasn't really into Disney dining before I started reading your TR's but now I am obsessed....you're a bad influence on me! ::yes::

That is so funny because I wasn't into Disney dining until I joined the DIS. To me there was so much going on in Disney, it was so overwhelming, I would eat less than anywhere else because I just wanted to go go go and my parents would have to force me to sit down and eat. The food pictures on here changed all that though.

Thanks for reading! I hope your trip is magical!

Holy, 7 updates!!! But what a great way to kill my morning at work. :thumbsup2

Ahhh, it's so great that POP and AoA are so close. It really is 2 resorts in one.

Strange, but the photo you mentioned you both "look really weird in" at Nemo, I really like. There's a real BFF feeling to it. It's actually quite lovely.

You know with all the FP+ stuff, one of the things I'm going to miss A LOT is the ability to take a photo of the paper FP. It just seems necessary.

OK... Everest ride photo. That kid. There are no words, but clearly his life was just made whole right at that moment.

Bahaha, I totally got a flashback to #StruckInDisney and the "Wait.. ress" at Via Napoli. I figured no chance that would happen again. Oy.

Yes, I too love interacting with the CM's around the World. :lovestruc

OMG, I know this is a Disney board and Disney TR, but YES I will also never forget the emotion of the best concert I ever attended with Sir Paul and tens of thousands of friends all coming together as one under the night sky.

And in case you don't get to update again since your trip is SO CLOSE, have yourself an amazing time, give Jack a BIG hug, have an mind blowing talk with Mickey, and just savour every moment even though I know you will. I hope you, Gina, and Jess have the BEST TRIP EVER!!! :goodvibes

Lia!!!! I'm almost all caught up with this TR. I have been reading along but it's taking me a little longer than I'd like because of this little niusance called work :rolleyes1 Gotta make that $$$ so I can "make it rain" during my January trip. Anyways I can't believe you are going back in two days! Have an awesome trip. Like I need to tell you that but. Good vibes :goodvibes

Hi Lia!

Many thanks for the tips re: veggie options! ;)

Great updates and photos as always...The ride photos are so funny!

I really must try to catch the Voices of Liberty next time I visit Disney World.

Ah - you can't beat a good Disney sing-along! :thumbsup2

I have to say that getting stuck on Maelstrom really would have freaked me out! I'm pretty claustrophobic and dread getting stuck on any ride! :worried:

In case I don't get a chance to come on here again before you leave for Orlando, I just want to say that I hope you have an absolute blast (which you will of course!)!! :yay: I look forward to reading all about it when you return!! :)

Have a cherry coke at Sci-Fi for me!! ;)

Best wishes,
S.xx
