I don't normally post in this thread, though I do lurk. Anyway, I just had to post this. I normally PVR the show so am a big behind but on y/days show in Canada (todays show in the US) they showed Mary Jane with an animal (not sure if it is a dog or a cat) but man, that thing looked so fake. Now I am beginning to wonder if is a prop or if she is gone nuts or something and keeping a dead animal in the house:confused3 As I said, I have not seen the latest shows, so just curious...........and you all know what curiosity did to the cat:rotfl:

:welcome: My2P!!! Join right in!!! :surfweb: We are a GREAT group of Y&R DISer's!!! :dance3:

Yes and that CAT has been in her room for a while BUT I never gave it much thought.....YIKES, is it FAKE??? MJ is a creepo!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if the cat is supposed to fake (ie - MJ is losing it) or if it is supposed to be real but the "cat" they are using is fake and looks fake. KWIM?

Big Y&R Scoop!
Tammy Barr has been cast in the role of "Young Patty" on Y&R. According to a press release from PRLog, "The Young and the Restless has been bringing back previous characters and storylines and with the airing of episode 9180 on July 2nd fans will see that Mary Jane is really Patty Williams (Paul's sister and Jack's ex-wife).... Tammy will be in flashback scenes playing a young Patty in Mary Jane's dream sequence."

wow - today (tomorrow in the states) victor is throwing his weight around again.

he actually kicks the fbi agent acker out when she's questioning victoria about what happened.

agggrrrr

ashley feels the baby move even though she had a miscarriage.

paul is given a restraining order from mary jane and is basically kicked out of the club since he has to stay 500 feet away from her and that's her home

adam does actually appear sorry that he made ashley miscarry

daniel's fingerprints are found on the gun that killed aucker (how's that happen??)

the fantastic 4 (daniel, kevin, jena and amber) are totally being framed - whoever was in the mask and stole the painting and the money just placed the money in the coffee house

TVG: Your book is set around the Daytime Enema Awards. What did you think of the wacky nominations?

ED: They're weird! There is no rhyme or reason to them. I have to say that our boss Maria Arena Bell really deserved to be nominated. She's done such a wonderful job turning around the show from where it was last year. She's worked really hard to make this show relevant and entertaining, so yes, we're all disappointed.

All I hear from everyone is how Y&R is the best show on daytime, and how much everyone is addicted to it. That's all I hear, and yet, we were snubbed. It makes me question the Emmy voting process. It's a big mystery. It's not like Y&R is in the process of being turned around, you know? When you consider that Maria had to deal with cleaning up that reliquary mess and everything else, well, it's unfortunate. Her stories have been very provoking and continue to be. As I talk to you, I'm watching Thom Bierdz [Phillip] tape his scenes where his family learn he's alive, and wow - I'm crying in my dressing room! Our show is awesome. Y&R isn't just a daytime show now; it's great television - period. Our show is really representative of the world today. I'm really proud to be working on Y&R. And listen, you know I've been through my own ups and downs on this show, but right now, we're experiencing a really pivotal creative renaissance. It's really cool. Overall, the show is hitting a lot of high notes despite us having to do less with more. So yeah, it's a travesty Maria isn't being acknowledged. The Daytime Emmys are odd.

TVG: Ditto. My favourite soap storyline right now is The Haunting of Ashley. You must be thrilled to be a part of an "it" story.

ED: It's been very challenging because the story has had a lot of twists and turns, so I haven't known where it's been going. It was made very clear to me that Ashley was not going insane, but now she's crossing that line! I think Adam's plot to make her crazy has overwhelmed Ashley - and now she's a bit loony! For Ashley, it's a fine line to walk, trying to maintain her credibility and sanity. She doesn't want to leave the ranch because she doesn't want Estella to win, but in reality, she really needs to leave the ranch! [Laughs] Run, Ashley, run! In a way, she's creating this situation herself because she could leave, but she continues to stay. Ashley's causing her own breakdown, which I find incredibly interesting.

TVG: It is. Chris Engen dressing up as Sabrina was one of those watercooler moments soaps used to deliver. What was it like to lose Chris in the middle of this breakout storyline?

ED: Chris is terrific as Adam. I love Chris and I think he's a great person. Everybody has his or her own demons, choices and processes. I can't judge his decision because it was a personal one. I can say I love working with [recast] Michael Muhney. He's a terrific actor. Though Chris and Michael are very different actors, so we'll see. As for Chris, he really nailed this character. Chris' all-American looks add another layer to this story: he looks like he regrets being so evil, but he can't help himself. I told Chris when he told me he was leaving was that for him to be so likable playing this villain says a lot about him as an actor. For someone like me who is playing a heroine on this show, I would give my eyeballs and teeth to play a character like Adam Newman.

TVG: When the writing got better, Chris really began flourishing in the role …

ED: That's the ironic part: When the writing got better, that's when Chris became unhappy!

TVG: It's bittersweet to watch you and Chris because I think Adam and Ashley have smoking chemistry. I think if Adam was really out for revenge, he'd sleep with Ashley.

ED: Personally, that plot twist has my vote! Michael's a great actor, so I think we'll have chemistry, too. I'm not sure yet because we've only worked together for a couple of days. I hope Y&R goes there because it'd be a lot of fun. Call Maria and put in your two cents …

TVG: Yeah, I'll get right on that! [Laughs] It's great seeing you and my Toronto neighbour, Tonya Lee Williams [Olivia], sharing scenes together again.

ED: [Joking] Yeah, except for the fact that Olivia is pissing me off lately! [Laughs]

TVG: That slingshot is probably sleeping with Brad's corpse when she's not questioning Ash's sanity! Remind me again - has Ash ever addressed Liv's affair with Brad?

ED: Yes, they did once or twice. Olivia and Brad cheating on Ashley while she had breast cancer was a horrible, horrible writing mistake and choice. All of us, Don Diamont [Brad], Tonya and myself all shared that opinion. It was an icky way to end such a gorgeous storyline. It was gross. Personally, I think it's best if we never address it again. I could fight for a scene where Ash and Olivia duke it out, but that happened six years ago, so I think it's a beat best left alone at this point. I also get the impression this new regime would like to forget it ever happened. If it's any consolation, I always joke about the affair when I block scenes with Tonya!

TVG: I saw that during an Entertainment Tonight Canada segment on Tonya!

ED: [Laughs] That's so funny. That's right! I'm always joking during blocking or rehearsal! I'm always screaming, "Wait a minute - I had cancer! How dare you sleep my husband, you slingshot!" [Laughs hysterically]

TVG: So tell me - is Ashley carrying around a dead baby?

ED: No, she lost the baby. She miscarried, but now she's having a hysterical pregnancy where her body believes you're a carrying a baby. It's a real thing, not a soap opera device.

TVG: Either way, it's gross.

ED: Yeah, even Adam is shocked over his luck. This is one creepy storyline. You wouldn't believe what we're taping today!

TVG: I'm totally digging the fact that Nikki is looking out for Ash. They should always be rivals but it's important for any feud to show the love along with the hate. You and Melody Thomas Scott have amazing chemistry.

ED: I agree! Ashley stood up for Nikki when she was accused of haunting Ash and now Nikki is looking out for me. I love Mel.

TVG: I pray Mel doesn't quit.

ED: I think she'll stay with Y&R. You know, I was more shocked about her leaving the show than when I was fired from Y&R a few years back! You can't air Y&R without Nikki Newman!

TVG: What's it like working with executive producer Paul Rauch again? You two worked together before on Santa Barbara.

ED: I must say I'm enjoying working with him again. I have no problem with Paul. I know he's tough, but this is a different time in soap opera. We get along great, and he's always warm and personable with me. His notes are to the point. Yes, his bedside manner may not be soft and cozy but he gets the job done.

TVG: He's like 200 years old and he's still working his butt off!

ED: Listen, I feel like I'm 200 years old! [Laughs]

TVG: What did you think of your former DAYS co-stars Deidre Hall [ex-Marlena] and Drake Hogestyn [ex-John] being fired?

ED: That was so appalling to me. It wasn't the firing so much, but it was the way DAYS handled their last day. There was no cake, no party, and no hourglass. Of course, I'm hearing this third-hand. I haven't seen Drake since he left the show, but I thought they both deserved a decent farewell for being the face of the show for so long. It didn't make any sense because [executive producer] Ken Corday is one of the most gracious and generous people in daytime.

TVG: Sounds like you have a new plot for your next book!

Thanks for the welcome......love that I don't have to go to different sites to get my fill of spoilers.

I've only been watching since '94, so can someone tell me what the story with Patty? If she is Paul's sister, then why is she hiding from him or whatever it is she is up to?? And what is her connection with Victor that he dragged her back to Genoa city?:confused3

Welcome to our thread!

Here's breif history on Patty

In the early 1980s, Patty fell in love with Jabot heir and playboy, Jack Abbott, much to her parents' disapproval. A jealous Jill Foster then confessed to Patty that she and Jack had been secret lovers. A furious Jack fired Jill from Jabot. Patty then started dating Danny Romalotti in an attempt to forget Jack. Patty eventually broke up with Danny and much to her parents horror, began dating Jack.

Model, Diane Jenkins, had been having an affair with Jack hoping to become Jabot's top model. Then Diane fell hopelessly in love with Jack, and began to delude herself that she would end up Mrs. Jack Abbott. But Jack decided to marry young and innocent Patty in an effort to show his father he'd finally "grown up." Jack was even found in bed with Diane by his sister Ashley when late for his wedding to Patty. Diane and Jack continued their affair even after his marriage, then Diane threatened to tell Patty about it, if she didn't get the top model job at Jabot. So Jack gave her the job for the summer, but by fall, Julia Newman was instead appointed spokesperson for Jabot's new line of products. When a pregnant Patty was prompted by the scheming Jill to visit Jack at his office, she found him making love to Diane. She was so traumatized that she tripped over a plant in the lobby, and later miscarried. After her recovery, Patty told Jack she wanted another baby, and to move out of the Abbott Mansion into their own house. When she later overheard Jack making plans for a vasectomy, and telling Jill he only married her so John would make him president of Jabot, Patty showed up at Jack's office ready to kill herself in front of him. Jack admitted how cruel he had been to her, begged her not to, and to shoot him instead. So she shot Jack three times. The shooting left Jack temporarily paralyzed, but he eventually recovered after surgery. Patty's father Carl was the detective working the case, and was convinced Jill was the shooter. Patty had lost any memory of the shooting or what led to it until Jack and her psychiatrist forced her to remember by re-enacting the shooting. Once she remembered, she left Jack and divorced him.

Patty returned to town about a year later and dated Danny again, but after he agreed to marry his friend Traci who was pregnant by a married man, Patty left town again.

Victor dragged her back to GC to get revenge on Jack. I'm guessing Mary Jane wants to keep her real idenity a secret, so she wants to stay far away from Paul as possible. I always thought they had a pretty good relationship

While penning a screenplay about Katherine Chancellor's life, Nina has been trying (in vain) to acquire information about Cane's past. "He's been so evasive," notes Tricia Cast. "It's also been hard for Nina to accept that this person has just stepped into Phillip's place and everyone loves him. They're kind of forgetting about the guy who they all thought was Phillip and that's a little hard for her to take."

Cane becomes upset by Nina's investigation and calls on Katherine to intervene on his behalf. Meanwhile, Paul uncovers a bombshell while looking into Cane's past: Violet Montgomery, the woman who Kay supposedly gave Cane to after she kidnapped him as a newborn, wasn't even in Genoa City when he was born! "Red alert!" declares Cast. "Violet was the basis of Cane's whole story. Although Nina still can't prove anything, she knows something is fishy. It still doesn't add up for her because Cane hasn't taken money from anyone, so this just opens up even more questions for her."

Immediately, Nina takes this information to Kay, whose reaction is unexpected. "She basically tells Nina to back off from Cane," explains Cast. "Kay has a lot of faith in him because he's this wonderful man who's so loving and sweet. She doesn't want to let go of that."

In the middle of Nina and Kay's argument, J ill shows up and defends Cane, as well. "Kay remains sort of neutral," says Cast. "She's weighing both sides of the argument and being level-headed. Jill, on the other hand, is on a rampage, but what else is new?"

Nina changes her tactics. "She tells Jill and Kay that Phillip IV has been showing signs of Huntington's disease, so his father's DNA has to be tested, which means they have to dig the old boy up," chuckles Cast. "Nina is Phillip's widow, so she doesn't really need Jill's approval. Nina is just letting her know out of respect and kindness."

Jill points out that Nina's plan to exhume the body is unnecessary because Phillip was already exhumed and tested after Kay remembered the baby switch. Enterprising Nina calls the lab and gets surprising news. "The lab doesn't have any records of Phillip's DNA results," Cast reveals. "She also finds out that the doctor who handled the DNA test was fired. So Nina decides to take matters into her own hands..."

I'm glad they are not forgetting that last exhumation of Phillip's body! With the dr being fired, sounds like he was paid off from the beginning.

Y&R's Adam is Caught!

Last week, Ashley fell down the stairs and lost her baby. However, Ashley, who has a long history of mental breakdowns, doesn't realize that she lost her baby, and even claims she feels the baby moving. The truth is being masked by Adam, who has blackmailed a doctor to tend to Ashley and support her hysterical pregnancy. But Adam's skull-duggery is about to be exposed...

When Victor learns that Dr. Taylor is Ashley's new physician, he wants to give him the once over. "This guy is treating Ashley and the baby, so you can't blame Victor for wanting to check him out," says Eric Braeden. "He and Ashley arrange to meet Dr. Taylor at the Genoa City Athletic Club."

Ashley has already been tricked into believing that the shady doc has her best interests at heart. "She likes him alot," affirms Eileen Davidson. "First of all, he's not calling her crazy, so that right there gets her vote. He seems to be a very nice man and has a sweet bedside manner."

Dr. Taylor is understandably nervous during Victor's questioning, but the heat rises when Olivia unexpectedly arrives and recognizes him! "Olivia knows Dr. Taylor by his reputation and she says that he has a stellar one," explains Davidson. "She's actually a big fan of his, so Dr. Taylor is very relieved that nothing goes wrong at this point."

With Olivia's stamp of approval, Victor makes his decision. "He goes ahead and gives his okay for Dr. Taylor to be Ashley's doctor," says Braeden. "John Rubinstein is the actor playing him. He and I worked together in a movie with Suzanne Somers. This is the first time I've seen him in over 30 years, so it was nice to work with him again."

Ashley's mood brightens when she realizes that she can rely on someone other than Olivia for medical care. "Olivia thinks Ashley needs psychiatric help and that's making her mad," sighs Davidson. "Ashley is doubting her own sanity, but at the same time she gets upset whenever somebody else does. She wants everyone to support her to help her feel stronger, and yet these awful things keep happening at the ranch. She has no explanation except for pointing her finger at Estella and now that's not an option anymore because she's out of the picture."

After Dr. Taylor leaves, Victor and Ashley are so delighted that the pregnancy is progressing normally and they begin discussing baby names. Then Victor learns that Nick has left Phyllis for Sharon and taken up temporary residence at the GCAC. Ashley heads home and Victor confronts his son for what he's doing to his family. "Victor is thinking about the effect divorce has on children and it can be devastating," points out Braeden. "Even though Victor is very fond of Sharon, he's thinking about Nick's daughter and how this will hurt her."

A defiant Nick insists that he belongs with Sharon, so Victor returns home to Ashley. Meanwhile, Adam is listening to his edited version of Sabrina's voice on his computer when the recording gets stuck and plays over and over. Ashley and Victor hear it. "They're the same words that Ashley heard on the phone call of Sabrina's voice talking about death," explains Davidson. "So Victor and Ashley are hearing what Adam had spliced together."

Victor and Ashley rush into Adam's bedroom and demand to know what is going on. "Victor is furious," huffs Braeden. "He's like, 'What the hell is this?!'"

Both Ashley and Victor come to the conclusion that Adam has been the one behind all the strange happening at the ranch. "Ashley starts freaking out," says Davidson. "She's also thinking to herself, 'Oh my God, if it's been Adam this whole time, then maybe I didn't dream that I lost my baby!'"

Adam immediately denies any wrongdoing. "He starts kissing Ashley's butt and says he's her friend," says Davidson. "But she seriously doubts him and he gets panicky because he realizes that he's losing her. She's been his strongest ally, so he needs her."

Adam continues playing innocent, but Victor isn't buying it. "Victor says he's not going to be conned by his son anymore," growls Braeden. "Then Adam brings up that Estella was at the ranch, so she must've set him up."

Victor and Ashley have no choice but to give Adam the benefit of the doubt -- for the time being. "Ashley's attitude has definitely changed towards Adam," says Davidson. "She doesn't know what to think now."

Later, Victor has to deal with Ashley as her fear of living at the ranch begins to spiral out of control. "I know a lot of viewers think she should just get out of there, but as much as she wants to leave the ranch, she doesn't want to because she's afraid people will think she's crazy," points out Davidson. "That place is super creepy, but she doesn't want anyone to think that she's vulnerable and can't handle it. It's very gothic, like Jane Eyre."

Adam may be safe for now, but Victor assures Ashley that if his son turns out to be her tormentor, there isn't a place on earth he will be able to hide. Teases Davidson, "There's going to be a great twist that brings up the question: Could Adam have really done all this on his own?"

Eileen Davidson and Eric Braeden on Engen's Exit

With Chris Engen's final airdate as Adam fast approaching (June 24), Braeden and Davidson weigh in on their co-star's sudden departure. "I'm very upset that Chris is gone," declares Braeden. "I don't know what went through his head to leave, but it's his decision. I tried to talk him out of leaving, but he couldn't be talked out of it. He was somewhat disturbed by the fact that he was playing this evil. character. I said, 'Listen, I remember Victor feeding rats to people!' I told him to embrace it because he had the most riveting storyline around, period. He was already depressed about playing this conspiring person. He expressed his disappointment and I told him, 'Are you kidding me? Do you want to play one of those boring guys?'"

Davidson also knew that Engen was having a tough time. "I really like Chris, but I knew he was having problems with playing Adam," Davidson admits. "I told him that I've always basically been the heroine on the show and I would love to have the kind of stuff that he's been playing to sink my teeth into. But on the other hand, I left other shows because I was burnt out and I have no regrets about doing that -- of course, my contract was up when I did it. The other thing I told Chris is that 'You're playing this horrible person, but you're still likable.' There's something very wonderful about that."

Braeden and Davidson have already taped scenes with Engen's replacement, Michael Muhney, who was plopped into heavy storyline with lots of dialogue. "That's a difficult thing to do," notes Braeden. "The guy has handed it very professionally. I have great respect for what he has done."

Concurs Davidson. "Michael is wonderful! I asked him toward the end of his first day, after he had just been thrown into so much going on, how he's doing and if he's freaking out. He said, 'I'm not one of those actors who gets nervous. I just go with it.' I told him, 'You're doing an awesome job.' He's a terrific actor. He's bring a different quality, of course, but he's playing a lot of different levels very quickly. There's something a little bit more menacing about Adam in an interesting way, but Michael's a very warm person and he seems to be relishing the lunacy of his character."

Adam's scheming resulted in Estella being charged with tormenting Ashley. Accidentally dropping the Botox before he could inject his eyes, Adam had to undergo a real examination and was devastated when Dr. Donahue told him that he would become permanently blind. When Rafe, suspicious of Adam, started to search his room, Adam tried to throw Rafe off course by proclaiming his feelings for him. Unable to ignore her growing love for Billy, Mac finally admitted that she ended her engagement to Raul. Chloe burst into Billy's room, unaware he was with Mac. Sharon got the test results proving the baby is Nick's. Forced by Nina to take a DNA test, Cane used a vial of blood marked "Langley." Someone became very angry when Daniel got out on bail.

:rotfl:So that is the big gay storyline that caused so much controversy!

I wonder who is out to get Daniel?

I can't believe they aren't dragging out the Sharon/Nick paternity story for longer. Hopefully, he is really the father and Mary Jane didn't get her hands on the results!

I think the gay storyline goes further then just a kiss. There's a script floating around saying that they actually wake up in bed together!
