If the DVD is unencrypted (i.e. a personal DVD and not a commercial recording) you might try just renaming the file to .mpg, as .vob is a subset of .mpg. If it's encrypted, this won't work and you will be breaking the law to do soI have a video I want to upload but the format isn't compatible. The video is burned on a DVD and I believe in VOB format.
Any ideas on how I can get it uploaded?

Is there a file named something .VOB?
) They probably have converters that go the other way, to convert & upload to Youtube.OK, please try renaming VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_1.MPG. However, that's a 700 MB file. That will take overnight to upload using DSL.
I'm going to assume I should copy it first onto my computer before changing it? I'd hate to lose my video.
What's the best way to copy that onto my hard drive?
I recently downloaded a Youtube add-on for Firefox which downloads Youtube vids right onto my PC. Also a different, unrelated converter to change audio song clips from a Youtube vid into a MP3 file, (for personal research, of course. All usual disclaimers apply. . . yada. ) They probably have converters that go the other way, to convert & upload to Youtube.
Is it DownloadHelper? It is the plug in I use and works not only on YouTube but on any page with embedded video or pictures. I love it.

It's on my laptop. I'll get back to you on the name.
Does DownloadHelper download swf (Adobe flash files) too? This program doesn't, only flv or MP4s. I'm looking for a downloader that can download swf flash videos, too.![]()
I know it will do .flv flash files, not so sure about .swf. If you know of a site with a .swf file on it I can check real quick.
Thanks. Here's a link:
http://www.nancyreyner.com/multi-media/index.htm#tv
It says above the vid, "Acrylic Painting Demonstration from That's Clever HGTV show," otherwise scroll all the way to the vid at the bottom. (Not sure if the top vids are swf.)
Or here is the direct google link:

Got it to upload (yay) but it has no audio because You Tube disabled it The video was set to music which was copyright music. Unfortunately they disabled all of it so you can't hear what my husband is saying before the jump. :-(
I had to let the direct Google link sit for a while so that the plug in could recognize it but I was able to download the file. It was saved as and flv though.
It doesn't matter what it gets saved as, as long as I can download vids to my PC and play them. (That would also save on having to download a swf player.) Most of the ones I want are instructional vids. It would just be nice to keep a reference copy.Is this video just to show friends, and not necessarily a "public" Youtube video? You can upload it to photobucket. Then email the link to your friends. I've done that with a video. They might not edit out the song at photobucket.
