YOu must do the FAST PASS!

That's why I agreed with you the first time
(and again HERE).

But my "slant" was on it WORKING more often than not.

Your angle was just a bit less "optomistic". :thumbsup2

Sorry - we were posting at the same time and I hadn't seen your reply until afterwards! I was responding to the poster before you - but yes, I guess my view is the pessimistic one - I always think I might be disappointed so it's a pleasant surprise when I'm not :rotfl:

I think fast passes are nice if you go during a heavy travel time. But the last time I went, we didn't use them because most rides were under 20 min wait anyways.

I have actually read this from a lot of sources

Cast Memebers are also instructed to honor any expired fast pass.

the reason being - they do not know what caused you to be late -

i.e. - you got stuck on another ride, you were at your resort and Disney transportation took longer than should be expected; you ate at a restaurant and service was slow

If someone refuses to honor your fastpass - you should just say - can you ask someone else to make sure - I was told I would be able to use it -

odds are the CM who tells you that you can't use it is new -

I have never had a fastpass refused b/c it was expired

fast passes are great to ensure you can do busy rides on a busy day. child-switch and fast pass is a great combination for kids. the kids alternate who gets to ride with dad the second time.
you have to be fairly tactical in your fast pass planning since once you get one, you're locked out from your next one, and you want to be roughly in the vacinity of your next destination. the other thing is it's quite easy for the busy rides to 'sell out' of fast passes for the whole day. in my personal opinion, Indiana Jones, ToT, and IaSW are fast pass musts. when CarolC and i were there in January, we took turns crossing the park to get fastpasses whilst the rest the party queued or rode different rides.

single rider lines let you join a short queue to 'fill' a ride before it departs.

yes indeed...tactical is the word...or at least a "slight plan" of what you want to do first...however I was very "tactical" as you say when I went to AK...I got a pen and crossed out things my son was too short to ride, considered going on the safari earlier to see "more" animals and so on.....I i went to the petting soon...and we were the only ones there ( around 9:40 am) while we waited to go back to the safari...then we got pass passess for rapids..and made our way to dinoland...... and did a feww more rides.... then grabbed the dinasour fasstpasses,,,then returned to the rapids....then went back....I think you get the idea....

believe me ..I know it sounds like a lot of walking in circles..but it actually is not....you can eat in between, see characters.... take another short ride, jump into a gift shop... or whatever...

I'm just glad ...others are "in the dark" about it...because thats better for FASTPASS line! it is so true...those people grumbling..lol...I was grumbling too..at first..then I said..hmmm..that must be that fastpass thing....how else could they be walking right past me getting on in nothing flat!

we had no problem with being late....twice I was let in no problem...early however was another story....the CM at Buzzlight year made us wait 5 minutes..... because we were early ...go figure...

Go figure is exactly right...being early puts you ahead of your queue in the line. You're "figured" into your hour slot and later, early would defeat the entire purpose of fast pass. ;)
