Golden Screams (DCA) is THE WORST mess that Disney has ever shown to any guest ever. It is terrible from the awful jokes delivered by an irritating host, to subpar quality clips of villains most people haven't heard of, completed by a pointless storyline that plays only to those of severely inferior intelligence. Even the young children (which are smarter that adults in some ways) weren't into it. The young girl who won seemed puzzled by what was going on . The cool chernabog graphics flanking the stage are the only good thing about this disaster.

I went into DCA this weekend looking forward to seeing something new and walked away puzzled. I was turned away from one show and had to go early for the next show to get in. There were more people in that showing than Golden Dreams has in an entire day. Dreams is a beautiful moving film that has one of the best Disney theme park songs ever (Just One Dream).

I know some people will say that the show is the way it is to be ironic or some similar logic. Disney said the same thing about Superstar Limo and used a similar line about DCA until recently. Both are widely acknowledged to be failures now.

Luckily I only lost an hour of my life. I am not a DoM (see Al Lutz) and do not feel bad venting and saying that Disney does fail sometimes. Don't waste the hour of your life. Heed my warning. Golden Screams should be avoided at all costs.

Ending on a positive note - Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage (which I finally got to ride this trip with only a one hour wait) is AMAZING. It is in my top 5 of all Disney attractions and probably number 1 for me at Disneyland.

We did this last year and thought the same exact thing. It is not worth the time to stand in line and then view the show. They could use this space much better but I do think it will be destroyed soon anyway to make room for a new attraction....

We are back at DCA this Friday night... for the Halloween Trick or Treat and will make sure to aviod it again.. :)

The show sucks... yes.
I agree.

....and worst of all, DCA lost the Tower of Terror storytelling budget so Golden Screams could add even more showtimes and schedule more villains to be present for the extra shows.

Blah! The storytelling was really fun... Golden Screams definitely isn't.
A very bad decision was made by DCA Entertainment... but that's nothing new.

The quality of the clips is also subpar (even after all the complaints from last year)... but truthfully, what Disney fan or casual park visitor who watches Disney animated features hasn't heard of Frollo (Hunchback), Gaston (Beauty & the Beast), Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Hades (Hercules) and Scar (The Lion King)??
:confused3

Last year the Golden Screams 'movie' featured the Wicked Queen, Old Hag, Maleficent, Chernabog and Cruella de Vil... and this year Disney Entertainment simply chose different Disney villains from much newer Disney animated features.

I'm glad to see this review so I can avoid it when we go to Mickey's Halloween Treat this Thursday (yeaaa).

You wouldn't see it during Mickey's Halloween Treat anyways - they don't run any shows (Golden Screams, Aladdin, etc.) during the party. though they use the area under the "dome" for Villain Meet and Greets.

Is there access to the full group of villains (for photos/autographs) outside the show itself? Do they all head outside after the show?

Usually the Villains scheduled for the Golden Screams show aren't scheduled for the Meet & Greet this year... and vice versa.

The Character Host CM told me Hades was going to be hosting the Golden Dreams award show that afternoon when I asked and she said that Hades wouldn't be doing any Meet & Greets afterwards. So I asked who was due out next and she said she was expecting Lady Tremaine and the Wicked Stepsisters (from Cinderella) out next to conduct a Meet & Greet.

Also the Bowler Hat Guy from Meet the Robinsons was also due out when the above Villains were due out.
The CM told me the Bowler Hat Guy isn't involved in the Golden Dreams show at all.

He is a lot of fun to meet though. Funny guy! :lmao:

AnotherDimension-
You are right about most people knowing who the villains are. I guess I just expected that the "top shelf" contemporary villains would be featured. Scar was not part of the show. I walked out and said where was scar - he is part of the top grossing traditional animated Disney feature afterall. I suspected that villains were featured from movies that children no longer know or don't like, so that it might boost dvd sales. It's a stretch I know.

Another patron that did not like the villian Golden dreams that sucked but I did miss the Golden dreams, I hope it will be there when I go back next Sept but my luck I bet it won't be.
