Fellow weight-loser here! After our trip in 2010, I said had to be under 200 lbs by our 35th anniversary trip in 2012. I didn't lose the weight by then -- but we also had to delay the trip for a year, so I still had a goal to work toward. By the time we left for our trip in April, I exceeded my goal and was down 85 lbs! I still have at least 40 to go to reach the "healthy weight range."
Welcome and Howdy, Debbie!!
And congrats to you!! 85 lbs. is amazing!! Keep up the great work. I know I'm still moving forward, I want to be far enough away from feeling like I'm near the danger zone that I can relax a bit. That way if I put on a few pounds I'm not in a panic about it, I can do what most normal weight people do, be good for a while and work it off before allowing yourself to let go a little bit again.
I can relate to your seat belt story. Mine is a fanny pack story. When I pulled mine out in March, I discovered that I not only no longer needed the extender, I also could cinch it a good bit. I took it to my meeting and showed everyone that with the fanny pack at the old size, it now fell down to my ankles!
It truly pays to celebrate all the changes, it's in those celebrations we allow the old self to fall away and appreciate the new us that is developing!!
I want to hear more about this journey as you go along!!
I thought about doing a trip report and including old pictures and new ones, but I just can't keep up with writing trip reports -- and I'm not nearly as entertaining as some of the folks here on the DIS. I can't wait to see your pics. And I am going to hunt up your PTR (I have signatures turned off, my eyes can't take all those graphics and my computer hates them).
TR's are not always easy to keep up with, ask just about anyone here, I can barely get to theirs!
And I'm certainly not as entertaining as others are on here, I just write from the heart and some times my funnier side.
Now, one thing I came back saying about our trip was that the food wasn't nearly as good as I had spent a year anticipating it would be. Every time I had the urge for a sweet, I would tell myself, "No, wait until you have one of those cinnamon rolls at Disney." Well, I got the cinnamon roll and it was "Eh" -- dh though so too, so we shared one and took the second back to our room to snack on. And that was the way it was for just about every meal and snack we had. Even the highly-praised BOG left us scratching our heads. I'm wondering if you experienced the same thing.
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN!! It's really hard to go from eating really clean and almost no sugars or no white flour in your diet to eating it again. I actually had a headache every single day I was there.
I know it was from what I was eating, my body just wasn't use to all that sugar that seemed to be in almost EVERYTHING, including a lot of the savory things I was eating, never noticed it on previous trips. I did the exact same thing you did by saying I would wait it out and eat something yummy in WDW and not at the moment, it paid off weight wise that's for sure!!
Although I did enjoy my Mickey head waffles, BOG cupcakes and my first Dole Whip, (the cupcakes in small measure-they were just too much sugar to eat at one time) so at least there was that!
Last thing before I go -- the "pw" in my name stands for pastor's wife -- so I love the faith aspect you bring into your trip report.
