C. Ann--

Its been very busy here.. our educational toys are going like hotcakes!
We have done so many of them, and I was at the PO everyday this week!

DH had some computer stuff that went very well also.

I'm hoping the 15 things we listed last night will be BIN! Last week we had some BIN's happen within a half hour of posting them (one within 5 minutes!)

Anyway, its been very busy here!

Who is the expert on mailing to Canada?

I need to mail a sweater and it has to get there by Christmas.

Please help.

Oh, I won't mention anything about my dismal selling the past week so as not to jinx anyone else.

THANKS!

I have lots more things I want to post to eBay but am wondering when I should do so. Now (tomorrow night) or after the holidays. I've had to use the $$ I've earned on eBay to pay bills and get the kids' Christmas gifts so everything I've made has just slipped away unfortunately. So, I just wonder when would be better to list new items (scrapbooking stuff, clothes, etc). Now or later. I will probably wait a bit to list the spring/summer type clothes until closer to that season. We're not going until March or June (my hopes .. DH wants March LOL) so I do have some time. I need to borrow or pick up a better digital camera, too, for all the pics of the clothes. Anyway, this is longer than expected and planned. Thanx in advance for any advice.

I can't that everyone on this thread enough. I decided to try this back in Nov. and have made almost $600 so far. I can't believe it. I only need $100 more to pay for our hotel and passes!

I have an ebay question though. Since I was new to ebay I didn't set up a paypal account. Someone bought something and is now saying that they don't want to because I don't have paypal. Do I let them out of it or what do I do?

Thanks all you ebayers!

That's great news! Pretty neat way to pay for your trip, huh?

As for the Paypal thing - what terms did you state in your auction? If you didn't imply that you accept Paypal then the bidder is at fault for not reading the terms thoroughly and is still contractually obligated to complete the deal.. I would send an email reiterating what is in your terms and tell them you expect payment via one of those methods..

Of course you'll want to "coat it" with tons of "sugar" unless they get nasty with you... :)

Hi PennyHM! :wave2:

Welcome to my "Ebay Your Way To Disney Thread"!

I'm not quite sure what to tell you about listing.. This is my first Christmas season listing on eBay so I'm just kind of stumbling along.. LOL Last Thursday was a really good day for me - lots of stuff purchased at the end of auction that night.. I also have about 35 things ending tonight, but so far it's not looking too promising.. :(

I've read rumors on the ebay Community Board that ebay (in the past) has offered a free listing day ON Christmas or the day before or after, so I think I may hold off till then. I can't fathom people doing too much bidding this coming week - especially if it's items they want as gifts - so I'll probably take the week off.. However, please be aware that I am NOT a "pro" at this and I could be way off base so hopefully one of the "veterans" will pop in here and give you some ideas based on past years.. :)

I'm not much of an expert - I did finally list a few things thanks to the great info and encouragement on this thread:sunny:

I still buy FAR more than I sell - will have to try and turn that around for next year.
I have one auction ending tomorrow and am watching 1 or 2 items - but will probably take a break from e-bay until after new years - just too busy with other stuff!

Last year, I thought a lot of lonely people were buying right on Christmas day. Almost every sale, had a "chatty" note with it...and many mentioned they were away from family. We did well..just not sure I want to tie up the Holiday time again, myself this year. Although I didn't respond during hte family festivities, my mind wondered upstairs, wondering how the sales were going LOL. I might have excused myslef for a bathroom break or two..I can't remember..and while going by the computer.....
The free listing days bring a lot of junk to ebay..tons and tons of listings for people to wade through..so I don't know if it's a help or hindrance. One thing I know for sure when it comes to bidding on eBay..who knows if it will be good or bad..can't ever figure it out.

I was surprised today, when two people paid me double the shipping, with notes saying they'd appreciate the item before Christmas LOL!

Ok - good source for packing supplies? Cheap? Note the descriptive term - cheap! I did buy the plastic roll stuff at Office Depot yesterday for 25% off but I didn't want a huge package so I just bought 2 small ones. No room till after Xmas. Maybe packing peanuts too?

Walgreens sale yesterday had B1G1 on packing tape - got the last 2 smaller size dispenser rolls in Eau Claire & the last 2 'tear-off' ones. The price was about the same as my WM so it was a good deal for me. I think they have the large rolls as B2G1 free till Xmas in case you need some.

5 of 13 auctions now have bids. That is comforting. However, that one where the guy couldn't even remember what he was bidding on and was bidding 6x as much on a different persons auction is still the high bid by him. AGH!!!. I just want someone to outbid him by a little bit or I'm sure he won't bother to pay. I'd rather just eat my fees than have to fight for payment. You know he'll pay with credit card too I'm sure!!! I can probably break even on my Ebay fees but after paypal I'll make about $1.50 on this whole deal. What can that buy me at Disney??????? AHHH!!! A pressed penny or two for DD - I'll look at it that way!!!
:p That helps~~~~~~~~~~

Madi, sorry to hear you received a negative from the clock guy--just respond to it in a clear, concise, professional manner. I always look at sellers' feedback before I bid, and a convincing response to a negative goes a long way!

I'm considering making bead jewelry to sell on ebay. What do you think of this 5 strand bead bracelet , and how much would you pay for it? Is there a market on ebay for a handmade bead bracelet or would I be wasting my time and money on listing fees?

I've had these beads and wire on hand since last Christmas, so other than the clasp I haven't had to spend extra money to make it. I won't be listing it until I finish it off with a clasp. It took me about 90 minutes to complete while watching tv Sat. night.

I'd like to make other bracelets in different colors and/or designs. I would love to sell personalized NAME bead bracelets. I've seen some selling for $25 (sterling silver). I thought it would be neat to make names for folks who have unusual names, who can't just go out to a store and buy something with their name on it.

Darn! cpl100. I tried to upload to Imagestation and got an error that it wasn't the correct file type or something so I used Snapfish, which won't let you look at it. I'll work on it and let you know when it's fixed.

****** I fixed the link in my post above *******

Is there no advice for mailing to Canada?

Is there no advice for mailing to Canada?

You can mail it by global priority. This would get your package there in about 3-5 days....at this point I wouldn't think that it would be wise to use airmail parcel post as that could take up to 10 days....probably longer now that we are in the Christmas season. You can get a global priority box from your post office, and also ask for a green customs form that you will need to fill out. It does go by weight, so it will probably run about $17.00 or so to mail this way.

I wasn't expecting it to be that much money though!

If you have a lighter weight sweater possibly you could fit it into a flat rate envelope??? If so, you could send that out for approximately $7.00. It's the faster shipping that drives the price up.

Okay, I'm a dummy... what's a flat rate envelope? I've always wondered that when people post about it.
