Okay, I'm a dummy... what's a flat rate envelope? I've always wondered that when people post about it.

Thanks!

This question may have already been asked before, but my goodness this thread has gotten so long that I can't find the answer. I hope someone will pity me and help me out! :)

I had purchased meal vouchers from Connections awhile back, and when we decided to upgrade to concierge level before our recent trip, we planned only to use two of the vouchers (at Beaches and Cream), so I put up the remaining four on ebay.

The auction was completed in early October. I received this email from the buyer today...

Hello.
I have yet to leave feedback for you on these meal vouchers. I purchased some from you and another party. I feel from both sellers that the value of the vouchers and the meal opportunities represented by both of you was quite misleading. Had I travelled to Disney and known what to expect prior to my purchase from you, I can state quite emphatically that I would have never purchased them. I welcome your response before I leave my feedback. Thank you. Tom

I used the same format as everyone else selling Quick and Casual vouchers uses on ebay, listing out the restaurants, and stating what it includes. I am working on my response to him, and it is something along the lines of that I'm sorry that he feels that way, however menus with prices are widely available on the internet, and unfortunately, it isn't my fault that he didn't do any research prior to purchasing them. I can't pull up the auction because it was so far back, but if I remember correctly, they went for about $20 each, which in some cases, is less than what a lot of them go for on ebay!

Am I wrong in this answer?? I know that either way, he's going to give me negative feedback, but I don't think that simply because he didn't do his research, that I should be responsible for his buyers remorse.

In October??? And he's just complaining now???

If you are certain that you explained them correctly I would tell him to "stuff it" - nicely , of course! ;)

Is there no advice for mailing to Canada?

I didn't see your first note. How much does it weight? I mail my product, 1# 3 oz in a box, for about $5.50, air letter rate. I would never tell my clients I could get it there by Christmas, sending it that way, however.

Go here and see what is the best you can do. Once you put in yoru stats, it will give you all the ways and time frames.

Doris, I live in Canada, my advice is to make sure when you fill out the green form, that you say that it is a gift & put the value under $5.00!! over that amount there are a lot of extra charges for the receipient! Ask @ the post office, which way to send-i find that the US post office is extremely helpful.

He wants you to leave feedback, so he can neg you..hold back!!

You can get to your ad, by the way, if you go into your feedback to be left and click on it..up to and sometimes more than 90 days.

I would just say,

I'm sorry, the ad was not a misrepresentation. Everything I put in my ad was true. The food was available as stated using the vouchers, but it was up to you to take advantage of the places that gave you the most for your money. Sorry you didn't feel you got your money's worth..our family certainly did when we went.

I would not mention the feedback, unless you really feel you must. I would then say one of the following:

1. I use an automatic feedback system. It replies to positives left for me.

2. I prefer as a seller, to wait until an auction is totally completed, before leaving feedback...to me, completion is once the buyer has left feedback. As a buyer, I leave feedback once i recieve the item and am satisfied it is as shown on eBay.

I would not allow myself to be goaded into anything, and I would not respond again.

We ship to Canada almost daily. I would never lie on a federal form. These products are not gifts, and I woudln't say they were.
I would never lie about the value (I thought it was $10 before a small amount of customs is added?). When Canadians bid, if they feel there bid would cost them too much in customs, I would suggest after taking that into consideration, they not bid. I would also never again bid on another auction from a person who offered to put down gift or lie about the amount. If they aren't truthful to the government, what would make me think they would be truthful to the bidders?

Just as aside..on our About Me page, we give the glory of our success to the Lord...wouldn't people (and the Lord) just think a lot of us if we offered to lie to save them a couple of bucks LOL.

Hmm..any advice about shipping a piece of framed artwork?

We bought a large lithograph that we want to list on eBay, but I want to know how on earth we will ship this so I can make mention of the costs involved in the auction. Anyone have experience shipping larger items?

The measurements of this framed are 41" wide X 26 1/2 " tall and about 3" deep.

Thanks to everyone!

DmRick-I started typing a response about the customs form, then I read your answer & it summed it up more perfectly that I could! No way would I misrepresent an item on a customs form-that is asking for trouble!

The measurements of this framed are 41" wide X 26 1/2 " tall and about 3" deep.

I would suggest one of two ways..stop into an art shop, and see if they have anything from a shipment they might have gotten, or get a bike box and cut it down...the last bike box we got, had wood in the corners for reinforecement.

Ok - 6 items sold - 2 have paid and are ready to go out the door. Makes me happy enough.

Regardless - now I have a problem. I was so busy watching my counters that I missed bidding on two American Girl items that I wanted. Geez!!! And of course the only duplicate of one is running at 2x the price of the ones I forgot to bid on, while the other has no more listings.

In order to try to counteract my boo-boo, I need some advice. Any of you know if American Girl dolls can wear a certain size of infants clothing? Newborn? Premie? I saw one auction that listed Premie 3 to 6 lbs but I don't know if that fits 'well' or if they are just trying to come up with more buyers. Our WM does have a few cute premie outfits but I don't want to buy one and start tearing it off the hangar if it isn't anywhere close to fitting.

Any of you moms have experience with this?

PS - if any of you have some you want to get rid of email me photos!

Oh no, asking questions and needing information does not make you a "dummy"....everyone of us needs help with something that someone else has an answer too....
A flat rate envelope is a cardboard envelope. The large one is about 9" x 12". The post office can give you one so you can try it out. Also, ask them if they have the global priority tyvek envelope. It seems that not all post offices have this available, but if they do it may help save your buyer some shipping dollars.

I tried newborn and premie size for our My Twinn and they don't fit (too wide) these dolls are 23" I think a little bigger than the American Girl.

Thank you to everyone for those answers about mailing to Canada. Actually, this is not an item I sold but a Christmas item I wish to send up there. I am behind in my Christmas stuff due to my unexpected surgery at Thanksgiving. I am going to weigh the item and see if I can get it into one of those flat rate things mentioned. (I guess you do not mean the priority mail ones we use for here, but something international.) It is truly a gift, but not one less than $5.00.

Thanks again!

Cindy

(I guess you do not mean the priority mail ones we use for here, but something international.)

They are called global priority, but are just like the priority ones for US....don't forget to see if your post office has the global priority tyvek envelopes....ask them to check in the back if they tell you "No" right away...sometimes they aren't aware that they even have them.

This is a very helpful site. Thank you. It has something listed called Airmail Letter Post but gives dimensions of maximum length 24" with a height/depth/width maximum of 34". What kind of letter is that? Sounds more like a narrow package but it gives a rate of $3.75 with a delivery of 4 - 7 days. This is by far the cheapest but I don't really understand how that could be a letter. Any enlightenment on that one?

Thanks again!

A pretty decent size package passes for a letter when you are mailing to another country. I use air letter post for most everything.
The downside of air letter post, is the inability to track and insure..then you have to go to the more expensive route...but in over 3 years, I've not had one go astray. They couldn't deliver to one person, so they (customs) opened the box and called me, I was able to give them the phone number of the person it was suppose to go to..and they called him and got it straightened out.

Hi Fon Fon,

I wasn't going to add my 2 cents since you already had a couple of replies, but I kept thinking about your situation, and it really bugs me.

If I were you & if it isn't already too late, I wouldn't answer the person at all, and here is why:
1. There is nothing at all that you can do for him now that he has used the vouchers, other than offering to refund a portion of his purchase price, and that is ridiculous and not anything you should do. This is like buying football tickets off ebay and then holding the seller responsible if the favored team lost. Or, like buying tickets to a play and complaining about the seller because the play was not enjoyed. If the restaurants that take the vouchers were stated clearly in your listing, and the items included were accurate, there is no misrepresentation!
2. This is about the most clear case of buyer's remorse there could possibly be. Your comments about his failure to do research are absolutely correct.
3. The longer he waits for your response, the better the likelihood that he'll wait beyond the 90 day window in which he can leave FB, and your worries will be gone.
4. If he leaves a neg and tells his honest reason for dissatisfaction, it will be obvious to those reading that it is buyer's remorse. You can then factually respond and he'll just look foolish.

I hope he doesn't neg you at all, but if he does, use your response field to set things straight! Please let us know how this turns out.

Good luck,
Joy

I really agree with all the advice for the poster with the Q & C voucher auction. However, you can indeed leave FB for someone past 90 days, just enter the item number on the "leave feedback" screen and there it is. Just a little piece of info I learned here (from DMRIck I think)!

Hi, hope everyone is doing great with their sales. I haven't been selling at all lately and I miss it. I'll start up again after the holidays. As usual I have a question...I bought an item on ebay using BIN. The seller told me he sent out the package on 12/7 using priority mail. I figured I would have gotten it by now. I e-mailed him and he gave me the del. confirmation number. When I checked it said something like"THe USP service was electronically notified on 12/7 to expect your package for mailing, Please check again later"..This is making me think that he did the label with del. confirmation on line, but didn't mail the package. I'm I right to assume this or am I misreading it. What should I do now. It wasn't too cheap of an item. Cost me $162.00 including s/h and insurance. Should I email him saying that being he's a power seller and I'm sure he's very busy maybe he accidently overlooked mailing it? Does this sound to pushy? I really want the item, but if not then I'd like my money back..What do you all think I should do. I know I probably should wait longer, but I have this strange feeling, I just got beat out of $$. I WISH I HAD MORE PATIENCE......TIA
Denise
