Whenever I've paid someone with my checking account, it is instant. However, I have had a few that paid with echeck, and it takes a few days. I get a message that says a payment is waiting to clear.

WHen you use the ebay calculator and the end of auction comes. What happens. I just ended an auction and when I clicked on where it says "create and send an invoice to buyer) the invoice page came up with a shipping total in the box. When I figured out what the shipping fee should be using the buyers zip, it was cheaper. This is the first I'm using the calculator and now I don't know what to do. I forgot if I figured on priority mail or parcel when I set it up. I can't imagine using priority because the weight is 5 1/2 lbs. and priority would be too much $$. SHould I just wait to see what amount the buyer pays and then just reimburse him/her if its more then what it should be.

LISTEN EVERYBODY, I have to apoligize for all these questions lately. I know everyone is busy with their own auctions and they don't need my interuptions. But, in the same breath I appreciate all the help EVERY single person gives me here. So A BIG THANKYOU to all....:D

The calculator would enter the shipping based on the info that you entered. Is it possible that you had decided to add a handling fee into your calculator? I am confused as to what you are asking.....you would have entered the weight when you set up your calculator....do you mean you checked out the shipping costs again?? Did you enter the correct shipping package size? If the shipping charges are fairly close to what you have come up with now, I would just put the extra towards "handling costs" and let it go at that. I think most ebayers are used to the fact that many sellers tag a little extra on to cover costs.

Thanks Claudia, The buyer paid instantly, and the amount on the calculator was right. I forgot all about insurance as an option. Very few of my buyers go for insurance. So the shipping came out to just what was on the calculator plus insurance. I always jump the gun, figuring I did something wrong. I should just sit back and wait for all the info. to be infront of me.

I never add a handling fee because most of the things I sell are all things that if I didn't sell I would throw out to make room for more "stuff"(junk)..This item that I just sold, went for 77.00 plus shipping and what makes it even better for me is that I got it as a gift, so it didn't cost me anything.

Thanks for your quick reply to help.

Denise

Ah ha!!! never even thought of the insurance charge!!! Well, I am glad that it all worked out for you. Now that you've gotten through your first experience with the shipping calculator I am sure you will be less nervous and will really enjoy how easy it can be to use. I think many people add the handling fee to help with the ebay/paypal charges....I just started doing it as the fees can be quite a bit at auctions end!!! Sounds like you made a great sale.

Did you see paypal's new invoice(the printable packing slip). I think its nice. Shows the buyer all the details of the transaction in a professional way. Not that it makes any diff., I just thought it looks nicer...

Tonight I got a "copy" of an end of auction invoice from ebay. It was for an auction that ended and I invoiced on 9/22. That is incredibly ridiculous!! That item has been paid for and sent weeks ago!! I'm hoping the buyer realizes it is ebay's mistake not mine. I can't believe how screwed up their notification system is!!

I pay often by echeck. The payment shows immediately to the seller as uncleared funds. Paypal then sends another notice when it clears. Which is usually 3-4 days. I did receive a echeck that took 19 days to clear from a buyer this past summer.

I need some EBAY advice.

I am selling some vintage sewing pattern booklets in lots and have started the bidding at $3 or $4. After 4 days I still have no bids. Would it be better to start the bidding at $1 or $.99???? Thanks!

If you would be willing to part with them for $1 or $.99 then yes. IMO, your starting bid should be the lowest amount you would be willing to take for the item.

With all the Ebay and Paypal fees I would end up losing money if they went for $.99 so I think I will just keep my starting bids where they are. Thanks!

Hi, I have another question (ugh)...

I sold an item yesterday and the women wants me to ship it to her daughter who lives elsewhere. I read that this is not such a good idea to do. If I do it, the buyer will save on shipping it to her daughter herself. And if I can save someone some extra $$, why not. What do you guys think. Isn't this like sending a package to an unverified address? Did anyone ever do this?

Thanks again and again.....

Denise

Is there some way you can see if a buyer has any NonPaying Bidder Alerts against them? I submitted one on a buyer and was trying to see if it was the only one against him. Also, am I free to relist the item now? Does eBay send me any email telling me the "transaction" is complete? I have been waiting for some sort of notification from eBay. The auction ended Aug 9, how would I count the 90 days to leave feedback. I want to leave feedback on the last day for him to try and minimize my chance of getting a neg.

Thanks for your help.

Maggie

dg39 - This would be the same as shipping it to a non-verified address, do you have a policy to only ship to verified addresses? I wouldn't worry about it, personally. Just keep a copy of the email from this person requesting to ship to the other address and don't forget to get delivery confirmation.

maggiew - I do not know of a way to see if a person has other NPB other then viewing thier feedback, the couple times i have had to do a NPB I put NPB in their feedback. For the 90 days you take your calander and count :) As for relisting it, I believe you have to wait 10 days after the NPB is filled. Be sure to file for your fees on day 10, this steep is necessary for the buyer to have to NPB on their account.

For the 90 days you take your calander and count

But I was wondering if I count the day of the auction? or start the next day. Do I leave it on the 90th day, or does it have to be done BEFORE the 90th day?

I am pretty sure it has to be done before the 90 days are up. I always use the day after the auction ends as day 1, then on day 10 I file for fees or in your cause day 89 leave the feedback.

What I do when I have a buyer whose address is not verified or they want me to ship somewhere else is ask them to pay with a money order.....this way they cannot file a chargeback with paypal. Ship with delivery confirmation and attach and save those recepts to any email that was sent to you requesting the different address.

You might get a surprise. The 90 days hasn't been as sure as it used to be. People are reporting getting negg'd back as long as two weeks past the 90 days. Seems eBay doesn't always make the cut off the 90 days anymore. I just went to see if I could leave a feedback for a person who ducked out of the bid, and the auction ended mid June..and it's still there waiting for me.

HI. I need some advise from the best experts around....that woudl be you all.......regarding 2 customers. Keep in mind both auctions ended on 9-25.

1. The guy emailed me a day or so after the auction asking for additional shipping costs to Canada. I reply immediately. Since then nothing. I sent him a reminder invoice and he replied asking which way to pay. I said either a money order or Paypal bank transfer. He replied that he would purchase the money order and send it out on the weekend that was around the 9th of this month. So far I have not received it. Yesterday, I sent emails to all those who have not paid for their stuff. He replied that "sorry for the delay I will get the money order purchased and sent it off right away.

2. This lady tried to pay with a credit card through paypal, even though I state that I can not accept them twice in my auction. I denied her and sent her a polite email stating such and that I do accept paypal but bank transfers only and/or money orders/cashier checks. She then sent me a personal check. I emailed her immediately that I dont accept personal check. What would she like to do. I gave her the option that I could return the check and she could send the money order or that I could hold the check and put it in the box with her order and send it out after she pays the money order. She responded that she wanted the check back (couple of other stuff said) but that she would send out the money order after she got the check..........so I mailed the check......I have not heard from her since. I emailed her to ask if she received the check....Nothing. Last night I emailed her again..asking her the same.....Nothing. I again sent her a email asking for status of payment today.....not yet responded.

My question regarding both.....it how long should I wait before I send a email stating that I will be contact Ebay regarding non payment of auction. Do I have a certain amount of time before it is too late? what is your opinion on this matter.

Thank you in advance and sorry for rambling.

Tamie

I believe you have the full 90 days. I would give each of them no more then 7 days to have the payment received and then file NPB on them. Send each of them an email stating that you need to receive payment for the auction item no later then (fill in date) or you will have to proceed with NPB with ebay. If on day 7 you do not hear from them, email again and say if they would like to prevent a NPB being filed they need to pay immediately with a paypal bank transfer. If you do not hear from them or payment is not recieved by the end of day seven (I always give them a time to pay by) file NPB, wait the ten days, file for your fees and then leave appropriate feedback.

Tamie, have you tried requesting the contact information for each of these buyers? When you do this, the buyer also gets a copy of the email and knows that you have their phone number. Even if you have no intention of calling, this might get their attention enough to have them reply via email. That worked for me a couple of times.

Good luck.
