Quick question about the PayPal accounts:

I noticed that the fees for a standard account are $.30 and 2.9%/
But for merchant they are $.30 and 2.2%.

How does one get a merchant account, and is it a good idea. I just upgraded from personal to accept credit cards.

Happy dancing all the way to the post office!

Howdy neighbor! Actually, we're planning on going in October - which is somewhat unexpected. I just haven't got myself in gear and put up countdown clock :o Too busy eBaying I guess!

Yipeeeeee!!! Came home to several more bids on my items!! Some end today, some end tomorrow, and I think I may have a few that end Thursday or Friday.. Only have 9 auctions left running right now so I better get busy listing more stuff!!!

I'll tell ya, between checking my auctions first thing in the morning when I get out of bed - and checking them again as soon as I get home from my "real" job in the evening - all I can say is, "Life doesn't get any better than this!!!!"

I always knew there was a way I could make money with this fool computer of mine - just took me some time to figure out how! LOL

"I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD AND I"M TAKING MY "BIG" BABY AND MY "LITTLE" BABY!!!!!!!" (DD and granddaughter:))

Yay eBay!!!!!!!

C.Ann,
How do you keep up with listing so many things and working?

I work everyday, and all I manage is about 7-10 items to list each week. I am saving for next years trip, so I'm not under any time crunch though.

Finally, DH is realizing that this "eBay thing" is working and is addictive!

After reading all these messages, I returned to selling on ebay. I've got tons of kids videos and other misc. stuff and selling the stuff is better than sitting on my shelf! We are going to Disney in November so I am saving up for our trip. Thanks again!
P.s. how do you do the countdowns in your signature (i'm new here):earsgirl:

Well first of all, I don't have any "youngin's" at home anymore so that's a BIG help right there.. Secondly, I only work three-eight hour days - usually Tues., Wed., & Thurs. - unless I have to take my DH to the doctors and then I just get my third day in on Mon. or Friday..

I've been having trouble sleeping for a long, LONG time so if I'm awake (late at night or early in the morning) I'll list an item or two then and spend the extra dime to use the "start later" feature.. Oddly enough, it seems I get more listed when I do that then when I have a whole day!!

Hey - I wouldn't count on going to Disney next year..................

You may earn enough to go THIS year!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

I just have to offer encouragement. I was very timid about selling on ebay although I've bought many nice things from ebay. Many Disney items!

After moving in to a new house and no longer knowing what to do with all of the older toys, clothes, etc, I gave Ebay a try. It's been wonderful.

It's a learning experience. I'm still learning how to best price things, package and figure out shipping, etc. But I feel more confident with each sale.

I've sold many infant toys. And many local pick up only items. In fact today, I had a buyer come pick up a small child climber and sandbox. I made nearly $100 on those two things and I would have been lucky to get $20 at a garage sale! The climber retails for $100 alone so the buyer got a good deal and not only did I make extra money but I got the clutter out of my garage!

I've also sold for local pick up only a computer desk and a baker's rack. Both items were in wonderful condition but just were not needed in our new house. I would have gotten nearly nothing at a garage sale or given them to Salvation Army for the tax deduction. Instead the buyer got a bargain and as a stay at home Mom, I earned a little money!

A digital camera really helps. I'm still learning about the shipping routine so I'm not an expert yet on how best to handle shipping. It only takes a few minutes of research to figure out a starting price and go from there.

I encourage all of you to give it a try. Put up a few small items and see what happens. Or offer one large thing such as an old desk for local pick up and see how you do.

I'm shy when it comes to this kind of thing and never thought I'd be doing any sort of sales. But Ebay has been fantastic!

It's nice to see that people are making money on EBAY!!

I started three weeks ago and have made enough money for a trip for two in September, WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all of you who have inspired me to give Ebay a try;
Thanks to all of you who have given me a new addiction besides WDW; and
Thanks to all of you who bought my listings thus paying my way to WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (never thought it possible)

Done!!! Didn't want to change the whole title of the thread though because maybe some of my "students" wouldn't be able to find me.. LOL ;)

;)
Hey I am so excited I woke up this morning to find there were 9...count 'em baby.....9 bids on one of my auctions...AND the price was up to 10x what I thought it was worth!
I got my DH to go through his PC game stash(major addiction for him LOL) and weed out the ones he won't play again and one of his games is now selling for just under $50!!!
So excited!

I FINALLY have more than 1 bid on an item! YAHOO!

Be careful selling used software. Make sure that if it is registerable, and you have previously registered it, that you disclose this to the potential buyer. It may have an effect on whether the buyer is able to use it for an upgrade or not. This is dependent on the policy of the software vendor. Adobe, for example, is very strict regarding upgrades after one of their products is used, registered, and resold. The buyer trying to upgrade has to submit a form signed by the seller releasing the seller of their ownership rights before Adobe will allow the product to be upgraded. This scenario could play out years after you have sold the item, so keep good records.

On the contrary, if you have never registered the software, state this explicitly in your listing, because it makes the product more valuable to a potential buyer.

Great addition to the thread title! :D Now I need to start listing!!

This is a great thread!!!

Ebay REALLY works!!!
I made $8,000 last year & early this year just selling on Ebay. I had a lot of fun doing it. I really ran out of things to sell for the moment though! LOL

With my garage sale I just had a few weekends ago I made an additional $1,900 :bounce:

Plus last May I had another garage sale & that one I made $2,000.

All this money was put into a seperate checking account we called "The Disney Funds"

We are FINALLY going to Disney World for the FIRST time in 30 days!!!!! I am SOOO excited! 13 days in Disney! WooHoo!!
We didn't spend a dime of our Disney Funds (that's why we open a separate checking account just for it)

So we will be able to have a wonderful vacation & Thanks to this wonderful board, we have saved TONS of money on this June trip that we are making another shorter trip (5 days) in early December to check out the Christmas decorations. Something I always wanted to do but never had the money to do it.

So Ebay really works.
If it wasn't for Ebay we would have never been able to go on this vacation!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE GIVING EBAY A TRY!
IT REALLY WORKS!!!

CINDALA: I sold mostly old Fisher Price toys, i.e. Rescue Heroes, children's videos, i.e. blues clues, some guitar pedals, I did also sell some Disney collections that were collecting dust in boxes i.e. Bradford plates, pewter train, etc. and some old barbie and skipper dolls and clothes from the 60's.

I made $750.00 in three weeks, have another $100.00 closing this weekend, thus paying my $850.00 cost of the Fairytale Package for me and my son who's 7. WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HOPE EVERYONE DOES AS WELL AS I HAVE DONE.

My only problem now, I'm so addicted to Ebaying and I have nothing left to Ebay, DH told me to start going to garage sales but I don't know if I want to put that much time into it, I also work full time and homeschool my child so time is precious to me. Guess it's time to hit my Mom's house and drag out all my old boxes of stuff from when I was a kid (ha, ha, ha).

Does anybody have/use the PayPal debit card? I'm thinking about getting one and I'm looking for good/bad feedback.

Thanks!
Lori

P.S. I love BIN :D Sold a few more little things today. It's definitely worth the extra nickle! I just wish that Turbo Lister worked on Mac computers :( I'm also having trouble printing the free DC from usps.com since I'm on a Mac

dturner,
I wish I still had all those kids toys! My DD's are teens, and we are into 'different' things now.

Lori,
Another vote hear for BIN! It really pays for that extra $.05 !

Tonight on UPN (Channel 9 in our area) on the 10pm news, they are doing a segment on selling on eBay!

I think the class should watch. Don't you C.Ann?

I have been doing Ebay now for close to 3 years. I would say that I average about $3000/yr. As a SAHM, it affords me the pleasure of taking my DS11 to WDW every year. My husband is a dairy farmer and cannot go with us, so I can't see taking his hard earned money so we can go on vacation without him. :D

I sell things from around the house, and I also buy things to sell if I can get a really good deal. I also do crafts and occassionally sell them too!

I do not take Paypal. Very rarely do I have any "high priced" items, and between their fees, and Ebay fees, it really cuts into my earnings.

My Ebay ID is the same as my name here.
