I sold 4 of 14 items that ended Thursday (Thanksgiving). My auctions ended around 9pm EST. Only one sold higher than the opening bid - by 15 cents.

I had 7 items listed to end yesterday, and sold 3. Unfortunately, that is actually decent compared to recent performance.

I had some time to play with Sparedollar more last night after my company left, and found that one could edit within ebay's "Revise your Item" option. It is really helpful if you have a comfort level with HTML, so you can discern where to find the area you want to edit - if it is in the description, anyway.

I also found that it helps me to rename my photos before uploading them, and follow the "KISS" principle in naming them. I also, as a result of having photo files too large to upload, forced myself to figure out how to resize my shots in MS Photo Editor to reduce the file size. So, it was a productive experience.

DH has to work today and I have the whole day to do nothing but create listings! Yippee!!!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

I didn't have any auctions ending yesterday. I did have an echeck clear, so I'm off to the post office to mail it.

I'm going to NYC again to battle the millions and millions of people in the stores and the tourist traps. So maybe I'll find some good deals for Xmas shopping and get into the spirit.

Anyway, I want to get 1 of my dd's a camera cell phone for Xmas and a car stereo. I went to the verizon website and saw the phone she wants. It's 150.00 and then you get a 50.00 rebate. Which is a great price. So it will cost me 100.00. Then I went to ebay lurking around at the cell phones they had there. They have the same exact phone ending in 2hrs. for 225.00. I don't get it. Why would people bid on it at such a high price when all they havr to do is go to the verizon website and save themselves over 125.00. I can understand items that sell in stores, maybe they don't have the stores near them, or the stores are sold out of what they want. But if they have a computer access, then they can get to the website and save tons of money. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE ebay. Thanks to it, I have myself a nice little stash of $$ to do what I want without raiding the household bank account, but when I need to buy something I research the stores first then checkout ebay and whoever has the lowest price, thats where I spend my $$. I'm starting to learn that while ebay may be convenient, it not the cheapest place to shop. I bought 2 dolls for my youngest dd and she didn't like them, I paid 20.00 and it sold for 60.00 on ebay and this is a doll that there are plenty of in every toy store and toy website. Sometimes I feel bad when I sell an item for alot of $$ and I know that they can get it for less then 1/2 of what I sold it for.Something must be wrong with me,LOL..

Anyway here's luck to us all with our sales for the REAL XMAS RUSH....

If an item fails to sell, how often might you relist it? Should I take my chances and start of the initial bid where I only cover listing fees in an attempt to sell? I had lots of views last week and sold little. My current listings have views and no bids- they end Sunday. :(

Boy, that is so hard to say. I have found that relisting and dropping the price a dollar or two gets me about 50/50 success. There are some things I've listed and relisted for a total of 3 times, and at that point I just figure my timing is wrong. So, those things are some of what will go up now! LOL

 I think I could drive myself nuts trying to figure it out, but if there is any time of year in which I will take more of a risk relisting, it's now. I think we should be almost at peak selling time right now, and will soon be in panic mode period. But that's really just my opinion! In any event, I would think this Sunday should be a really good day for ending.

Good luck and let us know how you do! :teeth:

OK, I think I've already said I liked it a couple of times now, but Sparedollar REALLY impressed me today. I sent an email to their support address last night, then about 2 hours later I figured out what I was doing wrong and fixed it. By then my brain was fried and I went to bed.

This morning I got a response from SD saying they couldn't see anything wrong, but if I was still having a problem to let them know.

I wrote back and apologized for wasting their time, and explained the solution i found, and one tiny other problem I had which wasn't a big deal. I got another reply within 5 minutes that the second problem was fixed, and how he fixed it.

I am thrilled with that level of customer service. I'd almost call that "Disneyesque"!!!!:teeth: :sunny:

In regards to relisting, I give nearly everything a second chance, the next week. On occasion I will wait a month or two to relist. As I have mentioned before, I had one lot of Blue Clues Toys that didn't sell after listing twice. I relisted a couple months later and it sold for $40+.

Glad you like Spare Dollar. I have to get myself a little more organized. I need to create some different types of base auctions. Otherwise I am changing so much stuff every time I list something. I got to get this done THIS WEEK!!!!!

Sandy PM'd back. I'm glad you guys let me know when I've been pm'd. I use aol's mail service and it considers the dis spam : (

Don't forget you can get some great deals on 3 bedroom condos for rent on ebay. If you go last minute you can get one for $295 for the week. All of ebay travel people have to pay and go through a process with square trade to even list there.

Was just looking at the calendar and wondering when I should stop listing items for Christmas gifts..

Sunday listings put up today would end on the 7th - then items listed on the 7th would end on the 14th.. I'm thinking that would be the cut off in order for things to get paid for, shipped, and received by Christmas..

What is everyone else going to do?

I think my last days will be the Sunday the 7th or Thursday the 11th to list for 7 days and have the item ship in time for holiday gift-giving... That's if the buyer pays with PayPal instantly and I ship Priority Mail on Sat. the 20th...not that I want to be at the Post Office on the Sat. before Christmas! I may stay away from listing between mid-Dec. until after the new year.

The last day I doing my last listings next Sunday (ending 14th). I may do a 3 day (ending Wednesday 17th). I am going to put in my listings that payment must be received by 12/18 and shiped via Priority for delivery by Christmas on all listing that I do after today. I also plan on offering Express Shipping.

I do buy it nows right up til Christmas. A lot of people don't see their relatives until after Christmas..others will ask for overnight mailing a couple days before Christmas, and still others are spending their money they got as a Christmas gift on themselves! But you have to have BIN's for this to work.
I actually put my auctions up for 10 days..and a lot end up bin's (more money for me) since they don't want to wait.

We all know that eBay has gone worldwide, correct?

Well - did you know that it also extends to the hereafter??? Yup! And I have the proof !!!!

Back in October I had someone win one of my auctions. She turned out to be a NPB. I sent email after email and because we're both on AOL I was able to determine that she was in fact reading the emails - just not responding..

A couple of weeks ago I finally sent an email stating that I would be filing an NPB the next day and lo and behold, I got a response! It went something like this:

sorry,
she died last week

---------------------------

That was it - no further explanation.. Don't ask me why, but I smelled a "rat", so I went ahead and filed the NPB..

Tonight I was doing some paper work and came across her user ID so I decided to check her out again..

Ummmm...she's been bidding and buying the SAME type of items that she bid on of mine like crazy all week!
---------------------------------

So there you have it - eBay has branched out to the heavens (and probably the "other" place as well)..
-------------------------------------

I'm dying (no pun intended) to leave some kind of feedback in terms of her "death" but just can't come up with anything that's "catchy" enough..

Any ideas?

C.Ann - How about something like "They say you can't take it with you but here's proof that you can" or something like that??

LMBO, C.Ann!! How bout - don't they have anything better than AOL in heaven?? Or, I see that rigor mortis has not set in to your clicking finger.

Sorry, this is cracking me up!! :hyper:

I posted last week about a bar butler I purchased that was not what was represented in the picture. The seller is offering to only pay shipping back one way. I am shipping the item back today and would like to email him the total shipping costs back and ask firmly that those charges also be paid back to me...Can anyone tell me how I should word this? I think it would be considered mail fraud, right? It was also damaged in shipping because he did not put it in a box. He just covered it in brown kraft wrap but I think the stronger message is the mail fraud.

Thanks,

Martha

just firmly, but kindly let him know what he owes you for the shipping. Maybe something like.... "Dear Bob, Just wanted you to know that the bar butler was shipped back to you today. I will be looking for your payment of $xxx (for shipping reimbursement)via (paypal, check, m.o.) in the next few days. Thanks in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.....etc...." Be really nice, but really firm. If that doesn't get you anywhere, THEN go ahead and mention the mail fraud. Just my suggestion.....P:)
