You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

Well, this week was certainly a lesson in patience for me.

First off was the Canadian buyer who asked me to ship to a US address. I was nervous about doing it but got lots of reassurance from people here that it's a problem, usually.

So then, the postal clerk at my local PO fails to scan the delivery confirmation code and for two days after mailing the item, I'm on pins and needles wondering if it's going to show up at the address and how am I going to prove that I sent it since he didn't even give me a receipt (I paid for the postage online)!

Fortunately, the tracking did show it was delivered, the buyer emailed me that it arrived and he left positive feedback. WHEW!

Then there was another buyer who won two auctions and emailed me to ask if I would combine the two in order to save on postage. No problem! It saves me the effort of sending two packages to the same address. So, after that, I hear nothing from her. Hmmm.

The auction ended Sunday and still no payment or response by Friday. I send a payment reminder. On Saturday, still nothing and I notice that the another seller has left negative feedback for this buyer. He had a similar item up for auction which ended the same day as mine. Hmmm.

I'm beginning to get bad feelings about this person. They're new to eBay and now have a total feedback of 2 positives and one negative. But my payment terms state that I expect payment within 7 days and it hasn't been 7 days yet. The buyer could have any number of reasons for not contacting me and not paying just yet. "Patience", I tell myself, "Have patience."

Well, in my email this morning, there's a notice from PayPal that the buyer paid last night via an eCheck. Patience pays off! I'm glad that I didn't jump the gun like the other seller did. Now he'll probably never get his payment from that buyer. He left his negative feedback only 4 days after the auction ended!

Patience. Patience is a virtue. Patience pays off. I'm learning a lot from eBaying. Thank you everyone for your support in this thread. I don't know if I would have had the patience to get thru this week's auctions if it hadn't been for you!

sounds like good successes mad4themouse. I wait and wait for people to pay and I've only had two non-paying bidders in a few years of selling. And one supposedly died....
Keep up those successes!

Don't send the item until Paypal tells you that the e-check has cleared. I've had them bounce. Diana

Sometimes patience does pay off and there are extenuating circumstances. I had an auction which ended on April 4 and had no payment or contact from the buyer as of yesterday, April 17t. I filed the NPB yesterday and got an email from the sister of the buyer this morning stating that the buyer had been in a car accident and was in the hospital. She is expected to be released on Tuesday and would I mind waiting until then to get this resolved. I kind of suspected there was a problem since the buyer had 100% positive feedback and no feedback had been posted for auction ending after April 1. Glad I waited and didn't jump on the negative feedback right away.

Hopefully I will hear from her by the end of the week.

I had one of those bidders who "died" about two yers ago. It had been two weeks since the end of the auction, and many e-mails. The bidders "sister" wrote me to say her sister had died and no payment would be on the way. It was only a $1.00 trading card so I wasn't that worried.

So I file for my FVF refund, and then leave a neautral feedback "saying sorry for your loss" or something like that. Then a few days later, they left a comment under that "Wanting to know what I was taking about, wht loss?" Then not two days later, I get a payment in the mail for the card.

It was all so weird! But I am so gald that I have never had a problem like that since.

For all of you who have been reporting problems with the online Delivery Confirmation....

I was talking to my local Post Master this weekend. He stated that they had just had additional training recently where they were told they DID NOT HAVE TO RESCAN the delivery confirmation barcode when it came through their branch. I stated that maybe that was the reason that so many people have been having issues lately. He agreed and said he has found unless he scans the barcode it doesn't get in the system...which is the opposite of his recent seminar.

Can anyone give me some advice? First, I just started using Turbo Lister. I tried to change an item listed to a gallery photo, and instead, it got listed twice! And I only have one of the item. (And two listing fees, I might add.) I can not figure out how to delete one of the items - on ebay or Turbo Lister. Please help before I get bids on both of them!

Also, I read way back that this can be done, but want to be sure. I had an item returned to me about a month ago, issued a refund, got positive feedback from the buyer. Can I still apply to have my FVF credited to me without causing the buyer to get any notice or bad report from ebay? I'm afraid to try, as I don't want to cause any problems for this buyer, but wouldn't mind having some of my fees back. Thanks for any help!

If you use USPS to print your labels and postage can you use regular paper or do I need to set up avery labels in my printer???

I use regular paper and then just cover it with packing tape (except the bar code area).

Did you try to change it through Turbo Lister after uploading it? You can only make changes to an auction once uploaded through ebay directly. If you made the changes through turbolister and then uploaded it, you infact listed it twice.

As for getting your FVF you can but you have to file a NPB alert first, just use customer returned item, refund issues (or something to that affect) as the reason. The buyer will not get "dinged" as a non-payer that way.

I have just had the weirdest experiance with a buyer I have ever had. I send her the invoice she writes me an email (off the ebay system without any referance to what item she is talking about) that she will send a money order tomorrow. I write back" don't take money orders as it is stated in auctions only paypal and I am not sure what item you are paying for. She writes back that " I do to take money orders and sends me the copy of the invoice which clearly states that I do NOT and only accept paypal. So i sent a paste and copy of just the important line back to her and she states that she is a seller blah blah blah and that someone spoofed her paypal etc. Looked at her feedback after that one and there are 5 negs in past yr /3 in last 6mths and she hasn't sold anything as far back as it would take me!
I have a REALLY bad feeling about this one. Did from start when she over bid by about 60. on both items, more than I would think they are worth. (you can still purchase the items online for that price)
I suggested to her to see if she has a friend with a paypal acct to which she can give that mo or cashiers check to and they could pay it for her through there paypal acct. She responded better to it but I think she was trying to threaten me at the same time, cause she said she would see if her lawyer could do it for her, she mentioned him twice LOL.
This is the stranges thing I have encountered on there! (well other than the used socks stuff). I will be surprised if she isn't my first NPB.
Maybe we should start a list of crazy ebayers on here to avoid?
Sorry so long, just needed to vent a little and get this experiance out of my head!

First thing i'd do, block her from future auctions! But I was just wondering, why don't you take money orders? At first I thought it'd be a pain to wait for money orders but it's SO nice when they come, you deposit and there are no paypal fees, especially on the higher ticket items.

I would sure take a MO faster than I would let her do that. You would have no protection if you mailed it to her, and it was paid for by an account not connected with the auction.
I'm not sure why you don't take money orders, since I would be thrilled if someone overbid by that much and I didn't even have to worry about Paypal fees, or a chargeback, but it's your auction and your rules. I think I smell a neg, even though she is the one not following your tos.

I don't take money orders nor cashier checks cause they could SO easily be stolen. I use to work in banking many moons ago and we had people all the time trying to cash stolen money orders or cashiers checks. Guess had it drilled into me enough through the banking that i just don't feel comfortable handleing them. Use to be the stats on money orders being stolen was 1 in every 5 cashed was stolen.

I DO plan to block her from any future auctions. She has already this morning email me and stated that she has paid through HER paypal acct. The one supposedly she didn't have anymore. Something just doesn't smell right here at all. And I am not leaving her feedback until she leaves mine, if she doesn't fine with me!

I have a bidder who just changed her user id on ebay. Is there a reason someone would do that other than they had negatives they wanted to get away from? On her new id she has 3 positives and that's it. I'm selling an extra park hopper as I can't return it and my bil backed out of trip. This bidder has won several other things (meal vouchers, univ tickets, etc.) that make me believe s/he is legitimately planning a trip to Orlando but the fact that s/he changed her id makes me nervous. I did a search on her old id but it doesn't come up; it only brings up the new feedback.

What do you think?

I am new to this Budget Board and missed the first part of the "ebaying your way to Disney" thread. Is there any way to go back and read it? Or once a thread is closed, is it gone forever? (Sorry if this is a stupid question - I'm just learning how to use the boards).

Are you afraid the money order will not be good when you bring it to the bank to cash it?? I usually wait to ship the item until I cash the MO? But are MOs like checks? Once you cash them is there any way they can "bounce" like a check. With checks I wait 10 days to send the item. Should I do the same for MOs? I always thought MOS were like cash and I could ship right away once I cashed the MO.

Penguin gal, you can read the closed thread (if you have DAYS! LOL) but cannot post to it. I did a search and this should be the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=436630&highlight=+ebay

Maggie, I didn't really understand about the mo's being stolen post, but my bank treats mo's like cash. Matter of fact I have cashed two rather than depositing and there was no problem at all. Other than having to wait for the money order to arrive, I have no problems getting paid with mo rather than paypal.
