You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

I have very little luck with Amazon, selling used books etc. Some sell for so cheap, I often wonder why bother. I mean if you are selling it for $0.50 and Amazon takes $0.99 + whats the point?

Have you tried selling them on ebay at all? I have done okay with lots of books on ebay. Especially if you have some "good" authors.

Well, I only made about $22 last week. I guess I will consider that a lunch or a light supper for DD & myself. Easier to look at that way!

I have a few more things up this week and some Bath & Body Works coupons to list tomorrow night. Anyone know where they get the 15% off purchase ones? I only ever get the free product ones in my mailbox. Those 15% & 20% off ones go like gold right now on ebay!

I did not have luck ebaying coupons/ and % off coupons. Those were not very good for us after all the fees and such.

One time my coupons were pulled as well. Since I got a nasty gram about it, I haven't sold coupons again. (It was a combination coupons, and one happened to be a cigarette coupon.) I found a buyer for these coupons elsewhere (on a trade board)

I nabbed a DVD set on ebay today:) My first find as a buyer and it's not being sold(it's a anime collection for me)

OK here are my first ebay totals....19 items listed...mostly VHS, and 2 kid dresses....9 sold...$33...Luckily I've made sure S&H covered my time and shipping expenses so I think after fees I've made about $40...I guess not too bad....

Some of the other kids toys I have seemed to only be listed by people that have everything new and in the box...I'll be interested to see how my used unboxed items sell....

How long should you wait for an item before filing a dispute? Luckily, I've been having much better luck selling lately, but I bought this one item and paid for it instantly back on 3-17. It's almost two weeks and nothing. The seller says it was mailed on 3-19. I asked for a delivery confirmation no. since shipping was $8, which seems kind of high to me and she said since I didn't purchase insurance, I do not get a delivery confirmation no? That's strange, I provide this on all my priority mail, with or without insurance. Anyways, can I attempt to get my money back thru paypal? file a dispute with ebay? I've not come across this problem before with any seller and I've been buying since 1998. The feedback for the seller is 97.8%. I usually never go lower than 99% when I purchase. The negatives had to do with waiting a long time or not receiving items at all. This item was about $22, no big loss, but still, i want it!

Donna, my thought is to wait two weeks just to be safe. Is it being sent parcel or media or what? The po told me some things take 7-10 business days.

As for feedback scores, I can understand your not wanting to purchase from someone less than 99% but as an example, mine is now 96% because of ONE negative feedback. If a person only has 25 or so feedbacks even one negative can dramatically change the score. I sent a book in a bubble envelope and it should have been fine but it was somehow crushed. It truly looked like it was run over. The buyer did not purchase insurance but I still reimbursed her the cost of the purchase minus the shipping. The po said it is possible the package got stuck in a machine on shipping. Since it wasn't insured there wasn't anything the po would do of course. The buyer got the package, assumed (I suppose) that I ran over it and mailed it anyway and left a terrible negative feedback even before contacting me about the situation. I was pretty ticked off about the negative but still decided to reimburse her even though it was not my fault and all my auctions say sales are final. The point is not all can be gathered from those feedback scores.

So far, I've only contacted this buyer twice and heard from them once. What makes me leery is in the auction it mentions, once this item leaves my hands, I am not responsible for it. I perfectly understand that, but when i read the feedback, it all has to deal with broken items or items rec'd two months later. So, I guess that is mentioned for a reason. The negatives are 4 in the last six months, that is what worries me. I am so used to mailing my items out within 24 hrs of payment receipt and my feedback reflects fast shipping. I guess everyone is not so fast! thanks!

Luckily, I have never had to challenge a seller, but from what I read on these boards, if you paid by paypal and dispute the auction, the seller HAS to show them a delivery confirmation and that it was actually delivered. That is why I send everything with a DC.

The winning bidder hasn't followed thru yet and today is 10 days. Tomorrow I can offer to next highest bidder (.50 less) or relist. Is the 2nd bidder under any obligation? I'd rather not have to relist.

I just found this thread. I wondered why I wasn't getting any ebay notices in my mailbox. I will have to spend a day reading through all of these.

Do answer the person about second chance. No, the person is not under any obligation to buy from you. You can offer a second chance, but they don't have to take you up on the offer. If they do, you pay closing fees. However, since the person didn't pay, you can get those closes fees back.

I have some magazines to list. They are from 1980 until last year, most every issue. My problem is that they are Playboy magazines. Ebay has a rule that anything 1980 or after has to be sold as mature audience. It's not exactly easy to search for them. My question is for people who have sold ads. Do you think that I'd be better off to try to sell the ads from these? Are ads that are 23 old worth anything?

Sorry for the repeat posts, but different topics, so I thought I'd do different posts. I just purchased something from a buyer. I read her description that says she accepts paypal, and it doesn't say anything about not taking credit cards. It also says shipping will be actual costs. That is what I look for. I won the auction. When I went to pay for the auction, I noticed at the bottom of the page that she says she takes checks, money orders, and paypal. It says if you pay with paypal that she will charge 3% +30 cents extra. This is against ebay, paypal, and the law in a lot of states. Do you think it is right for me to tell her I won't pay it even though it is listed in her auction?

I would. And if she gives you a hard time, I would report her and she can say goodbye for a one month suspension.

Madi100- I recall reading somewhere on EBAY that it is ILLEGAL to charge the buyer fees for Paypal. I know some sellers that actually have 2 paypal accounts, one that accepts credit cards and one that only accepts checks and current funds. Not sure how she works it because it can be confusing--but I do know they cannot list on their auction that buyer has to pay the Paypal fees, that's a crock!

I too am new to this board (actually a former DIS addict), but I've had to spend more time where I make the $$$$ on Ebay. I get on the DIS when I have a chance. A good DISer friend, kajunswty (also an EBAY seller) just told me about this EBAY board.

I've been selling on ebay for 4 or 5 months, as well as half.com and amazon.com. I sell mostly my daughter's clothes on Ebay, odds and ends and whatever I can get my hands on to make a bit of profit for my WDW TRIPS!! I sell mostly textbooks on half and amazon. My seller name is the same as my post name here.

I've been running into a few deadbeat bidders lately, something I've been lucky enough to not really deal with. I've had a few "mutual" not to sell situations so I am familiar with the FVF credit process. You need to wait 10 days to file a NPB to get your FVF credit. I haven't had much luck with second chance offers.

Does this ID belong to a DISer? familytripfund*disney2004

This seller has an item I want, just not sure of the sizing.

Thanks DMRick. I don't think the amount is much, but I eat Paypal fees every single day when I sell something. So, the fact that someone wants me to eat theirs is a bit bothersome.

.

Yeah, I looked it up. It is against both paypal and ebay's rules, plus it is illegal in most states. It is OK to charge a handling fee to your auctions. However, you can't just do it to your paypal customers. So, if I'm selling a pair of shoes and I list shipping as $3 and included in that $3 is $1 handling. That is fine. It's a problem when I charge $2 shipping and $1 handling to paypal users. Hope that makes sense. I very politely emailed her and told her the rule and asked for a shipping total. I didn't get a reply to that one, but did to the second one I sent asking for a second time my shipping. She has great feedback about how fast she ships stuff. However, the auction ended Sunday night, and it's now Tuesday, and I'm still waiting for a total :(

I downloaded Turbolister, but am now getting a error and it won't let me connect to ebay. I sent an email to ebay, but it says it can take up to 24 hours to reply. Thought I would ask here to see if someone know.
The error I am getting is "The date in the certificate is invalidor has expired."
Any ideas? Or any ideas where to find the answer?

Thanks,
Sunny

I don't have an answer for your question, but you may want to go to the Turbo Lister discussion board at the E-Bay Community site. They may have an answer there, or you can post your question there.
