"You Guys Are Cast Members... Right?" - A December 2011 TR

Too bad that you didn't get to see Ryan sing! I would have been really disappointing to get all the way there to be turned away though. You did the right thing.

I hate seeing people get turned away for character meets. It's so sad to see little kids get upset over it.

I would love to see the castle lighting some day. I'm already working on DH to get a Christmas trip scheduled. ;)

yay for the people move!

too bad you missed buzz, you will have to meet him next time!

That's so cool that Ryan made 3rd place in AI for the day!!! I don't think you're a terrible friend at all!!! Travelling times at Disney can be so up in the air sometimes! I think it would have been pretty difficult for you to have gotten there from the MK in time!

I love the PeopleMover, you got some great pictures from it!! :thumbsup2

Congrats to your friend, Ryan, for winning his American Idol show! :thumbsup2

Woooo! The People Mover! Isn't that the best? It's so relaxing to just kick back and watch all of Tomorrowland. Although, I admit, that I'd be kind of scared if I was all alone like you going through Space Mountain.

THE CASTLE LIGHTING MAKES ME SO HAPPY! I just love every single thing about it!

That's so cool that Ryan won and made it to the finale show! :thumbsup2 I totally understand why you didn't go, that was a really long journey. You were with him in spirit! :goodvibes

I love your Peoplemover pictures. Mine are always mediocre but I love them anyway. That ride is just great. I'd like to take a nap on it. The Space Mountain part is kind creepy though. I'm always afraid I'm going to go through and the lights will be turned on and I will see what that ride actually looks like. Ugh, no thank you.

Sheesh? Seriously, CM? You can't let a crying child or one little DISer with one little camera in to meet Buzz? That seems a bit harsh. NO BUZZ FOR YOU. (Do you watch Seinfeld? If not, ignore that.)

I've been to Disney at Christmas twice, but I have yet to see the actual castle lighting ceremony! Oooh eeee, what up with that? What up with that? (Do you watch SNL? If not, ignore that too.)

Yay! More shenanigans in Tomorrowland! :thumbsup2 I'm ready!

I know! Thanks, I'm glad you get it hahah. Yeah, I would have ended up missing like 3 or 4 hours of MK time on my last night and that wasn't sitting very well with me.

Well thank ya! Yeah, it's hard to get them because you can't just stop the ride to photograph things, you know? I liked them enough! The castle picture looked amazing on my camera, far better than it does on the computer screen!

I KNOW. You can't let a little kid and someone who has been a fan of Buzz since she WAS a little kid into line to meet him? It was annoying. I would have been totally fine if she had let him in the line and not me, even, just make the poor little boy stop crying! Hahaha, I don't watch Seinfeld, but I know the quote. (In FACT, the only time I ever watched an episode of that show was AT Disney. It came on at like 1:00 AM or something on my first trip and I was clearly unable to sleep, so we watched Seinfeld. I remember the girl was stuck on a subway. EEK! Hahaha. And yes, you did need to know that...)

Oh my gosh you must!!! Are yall going back this year?? Are you planning any trips besides the one that will be in the midst of occurring one month from now??? When can we go?!?!?! Hahah sorry, what were we talking about?

AWWW YEAH. There was some crazy stuff happening, let me just tell you!

I know it must've been a bummer to miss Ryan at AIE, but I agree with you...there was no way you could've made it in time. Getting around the Walt Disney World resort can be time consuming, and at Christmastime it's insane!

Besides, I think you made the most of your time in MK. The PeopleMover sounds so relaxing, and how rare is it that you got a whole train to yourself!

The castle lighting show is one of my favorites! It doesn't matter if you see it every single day of the season, it's still going to awe you!:wizard:

Thanks! I'm glad you agree! Yeah, that was really the first day that I started to notice the crowds. It was crazy!

I think so too! I know, it was pretty cool! I felt a little less lame about being alone that way hahah.

Isn't it amazing?? Ahhh I love it. Hahah, so true! It'll never get old!

Aww, I'm sorry you missed Ryan in the AI show but that's awesome that he made it so far. :goodvibes And I think you made the right decision by staying in the MK. :thumbsup2

I love the Peoplemover! Such a great way to relax & see some sights.

The castle all lit up at Christmas is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen! Everyone should see it in person at least once in their lives.

Thank you! Yeah, I'm glad I stayed put!

I love it too! I agree! It was also really awesome because every time I came back 'outside' it had gotten a little darker out!

I agree, it's incredible! I feel like seeing that could convert someone to a Disney fan if they weren't already!

I don't think you're a terrible friend for staying in MK, you definitely made the right decision! :goodvibes

OMG the Peoplemover!!! Don't you LOVE it! It might be my favorite ride at MK right now. I know it's like, nothing, but it's just SO amazing!!! I love Tomorrowland, I love getting to just look out at the park and relax! Your pictures are great, just because they make me feel like I'm on that ride!

I cannot believe I've been to Disney 3 TIMES for the holidays in the past 3 years and have not seen the castle lighting once. :sad2: There is no way I'm missing it this November!

Thank you! I'm glad you agree!

YES! I loved it! It was so cool! I just think it was awesome to see all the sights from Tomorrowland and go through a lot of the attractions! Well thanks!

OH MY GOODNESS you must!!! Just pretend I'm Stacey: "It's a must do!!!" If you get a twitter between now and then I will be happy to remind you!!! ;)

That's too bad that all of you couldn't see your friend. It couldn't be helped, though, so there was no sense in stressing about it. It's fun that he had the experience.

Glad you got to ride the People Mover. You can't be a real DISer until you ride the 'classics'.

The castle is stunning in lights, no doubt!

Yeah, you're right! It is fun, he was so excited about it.

Me too! Hahah okay, well, good thing I'm a real Diser now! PHEW! :rotfl:

It's incredible! In the words of Bert from Mary Poppins, "Coo, what a sight!" :thumbsup2 Hahah.

just started reading your trip report! I absolutely love it so far :)

Well hey there! Thank so you much! That's so nice! I just LOVE your username, by the way! There may be something coming up in my next update that relates to that... maybe. ;) Thanks for joining in!!

Too bad that you didn't get to see Ryan sing! I would have been really disappointing to get all the way there to be turned away though. You did the right thing.

I hate seeing people get turned away for character meets. It's so sad to see little kids get upset over it.

I would love to see the castle lighting some day. I'm already working on DH to get a Christmas trip scheduled. ;)

Yeah, definitely! If we'd have been able to reach each other sooner, I'm certain I would have tried to make it to DHS for his first show. But, there's nothing I can do about it now!

I know! That made me so sad. I mean, it was dark out, so I doubt his parents could tell that the line was cut off. I just felt so sad for him because he obviously didn't understand why he couldn't see Buzz! If there's any time I feel like the rules should be bent a little bit, it's for something like that. I don't think Buzz would have known the difference.

Oh, I hope you get to! It really is amazing! Hahaha I hope it works for you!

yay for the people move!

too bad you missed buzz, you will have to meet him next time!

Hahah, yay!

Yeah, believe me, it's like my number two must do at DHS on my next trip, right behind Toy Story Mania. (Rock'n'Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror came in third and fourth, respectively. :rotfl:)

I love the PeopleMover, you got some great pictures from it!! :thumbsup2

It was awesome! Thank you so much! I'm glad you agree. I feel like I would have probably missed about 4 hours of MK time on my last night!

Me too! Well thanks!! :goodvibes

Congrats to your friend, Ryan, for winning his American Idol show! :thumbsup2

THE CASTLE LIGHTING MAKES ME SO HAPPY! I just love every single thing about it!

On behalf of Ryan, I say thank you! Hahahaha.

It's awesome! I really loved it. YEAH... that part was a little much! But I wasn't too scared. Hahahah!

Aww, me too! Isn't it wonderful?!?! Oh man, I just love it.

That's awesome that your friend made it to the finale show! I have a friend who made it once, but unfortunately I wasn't there that day so I missed it too! :sad2:

I think choosing the castle lighting ceremony was the best choice you could have made, I don't think you would have made it over to DHS in time, even if you left right then, and even then you wouldn't have been able to get in, and that would have been extra frustrating!

Oooh, the castle lights are soooooo pretty! I love watching the lighting ceremony, it makes me tear up because I'm such a sap!

The peoplemover is on my list for the next trip. I haven't been on it either. It seems I never "see" it.

And the castle lighting... I'm telling you... my mom and I held our breaths for a minute when we saw it. It was so beautiful!

I think you're exactly right! I probably wouldn't have been too happy about that, hahah. Everything worked out for the best, I think. :thumbsup2

Aren't they? AHHH, I love it. Hahaha well, if you're a sap, then I'm one as well! :rotfl:

Oh, I hope you get a chance to do it! It's really nice and peaceful. I love it!

I know exactly what you mean! It's like you can't even believe what you're looking at. So awesome! :lovestruc

That is awesome Ryan won the AIE! :thumbsup2 I cannot believe they didn't let the others in though to see. That is insane. I thought they let people in who were with the contestants. :confused3

Glad you liked the People Mover! It's always fun to do, especially when the park starts getting busy later in the afternoon. But it's fun at night too. :)

OMG, I LOVE the castle lighting. The first year they had it, I watched a video on youtube of it and I literally had tears in my eyes. It is so amazing. :cloud9::goodvibes

Congrats to Ryan on his American Idol Experience victory! That's so cool! Do you know what he sang? It really stinks that Disney wouldn't let the rest of the group in to see him perform in the finale. You'd think they'd save a chunk of seats for friends and family.

I love your PeopleMover pics! The blurriness makes them more authentic. I miss zipping around Tomorrowland. :thumbsup2

The Castle looks absolutely gorgeous all lit up. I wish I could hire Cinderella's decorator for my house at Christmas.

I know! He's a really really good singer. OH I KNOW! I couldn't believe that either when they told me! Crazy.

I really did! It was so lovely. OH YES. The park was getting REALLY busy so it was perfect!

Hahaha I do that kind of thing all the time. It's really hard NOT to get emotional! AHHH DISNEY AND CHRISTMAS.

Oh behalf of him I say thank you! Hahah, honestly, I have no idea! I feel like I knew at one point but I just plum forgot. Oh I know, I was really surprised at that too! They could have at least snuck them in the back, or something. I guess the AIE cast members aren't as nice as some of the regular CMs. Who knows?

Hahah well thanks! I'm glad. Authenticity is extremely important. You'll be doing that in no time!!!

It really does! Oh man, that's a genius idea. I wonder how the neighbors would feel...

The One With "LUCAAAAAS!"

December 17, 2011

It’s time to head back into Tomorrowland, yall! LET’S GO.

Guess what? It’s DARK now. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love the atmosphere of Tomorrowland at night. I feel like it’s the best time to be there. When everything is all lit up, it adds a lot more to the futuristic vibe of the whole land and I really love it.

Screenshot2012-01-26at102506PM.png

My first stop was one I hadn’t been planning on, but when I walked by I just decided to go for it. I had to hurry because they were letting the next group into the pre-show area. NO WAIT!

Wondering what the attraction was? Yeah, it was Stitch’s Great Escape. Somehow or another, I’ve ended up doing that on every single Disney trip. It’s never planned, but it always ends up happening, which is most likely because it never has a line.

I know a lot of people strongly dislike this attraction, and I get it. The way I see it, though, is that we’re meeting Stitch BEFORE he turns good. This is before his Lilo and Nani / ’ohana means family / ”I LIKE CUDDLY!” days. For that reason, I have no problem with the attraction.

LEVEL3.jpg

Oh no!!! An incoming Level 3!! (I always think the little guy on the left is so cute! He looks so innocent and all he ever did was eat too many donuts or something.)

We were led into the laboratory, or whatever it’s actually called, and I ended up sitting with a group of 20-something year old guys who spoke Spanish. (And no, I did not do this on purpose. I SWEAR!!!)

When they were about to lower the ‘constraints’ I purposely sat up really high so that the shoulder harnesses wouldn’t hit me so hard during Stitch’s bouncing session. (It totally worked, too! SHOOT, Mama didn’t raise no fool!!! :teacher:)

The other times I’d been on this attraction in the past, the ‘audience reaction’ was relatively normal. There had been a few gasps and a few laughs, but it mostly stayed pretty quiet.

That was absolutely NOT the case this go ‘round.

LET ME JUST TELL YOU, this was the CRAZIEST experience! It was insane!

When Stitch escaped, the place went BANANAS!!! The lights went out. You could hear Stitch scrambling around, and small shrieks. The Spanish guys next to me were laughing.

AND THEN HE STARTED BOUNCING. There were SCREAMS coming from every possible direction! Stitch was laughing maniacally all over the place! The Spanish guys next to me were shouting, “DIOS MIO!!!! DIOS MIO!!!!!” followed by MORE SCREAMING!!! :scared:

Meanwhile, I was sitting in my little seat, my shoulder harness was barely touching me, and I was laughing so hard that there were tears in my eyes. I can’t even explain this properly. It was just RIDICULOUS! Let me tell you, I needed that.

Stitch.jpg

Thank you, Stitch’s Great Escape, for that barrel-o-laughs!

Since I was in a laughing mood, my next stop was an OBVIOUS choice!

laughfloor.jpg

Hooray!! I love this show, and I hadn’t seen it since my first trip. Let’s go fill up that Laughometer!

I had perfect timing with this, too! I was literally the last person that the CM let into the pre-show room. Talk about timing!

There was a family from Texas standing nearby me, and they were wearing ‘First Visit’ pins! The mom was saying how much she hoped that this attraction had seats. HAHAH! I informed her that there were indeed seats, and she was very happy. Apparently she could sense that I was knowledgeable on all things Disney, so she started asking me about places to eat dinner. She said, “I’m so tired, I don’t even wanna walk five more steps!” I filled her in about Cosmic Ray’s and she was very thankful that it was nearby! I hope she made it, because I have a feeling it took more than five steps to get there.

Anyways, the show was great! I always get a kick out of Mike and Roz, and “THAT GUY!” It’s just too funny.

However, the standout moment of the show came when Sam and Ella were up. After they asked the audience where they were from, this little boy raised his hand and was called on. Get this: he was Spanish TOO. They asked him his name and he told them it was Lucas, in very proper Spanish pronunciation. When they said, “Hi Lucas!” in the American way, he said, “NO! LUCAAAAAS!”

The Monsters: “Lucas?”
Lucaaaas: “LUCAAAAS!”

This went on an on. OMG. Poor little LUCAAAAS was wondering just why on earth those monsters were so STUPID! “They just can’t get my name right!”

LUCAAAAS!

Needless to say, the Laughometer was filled and we were able to leave. On the way out though, I heard a chorus of “LUCAAAAS!!!”

:lmao:

LUCAAAAS is famous and he doesn’t even know it!

Since I was two for two in the laugh department, I thought I’d keep the momentum going and head to yet another attraction that makes me laugh.

SDC12497.jpg

Yeah, seriously. This thing is so ridiculous that it’s hilarious. Once again, I had PERFECT timing! I was let into the room just as the first scene was about to start! I may not have had good timing to meet Buzz, my timing had been perfect for everything else!

SDC12496.jpg

Uh-oh. An illegal photograph. Are they gonna kick me off the Disboards now?

There are just so many wonderful moments during this show. I can’t pick a favorite. It’s a toss-up between the paint getting all over Sarah’s rump, uh, rumpus… room, and the EXPLODING OVEN!!! “Anyone for pizza?” GIGGLE.

I definitely had a hankering for a good ole sarsaparilla after that. Gosh darn, they’re calling it root beer now, aren’t they? (I just keep forgetting!) Then I remembered that I don’t like root beer, so… HANKERING OVER!

I wanted to see what was going on with my group and see what their progress was, so I sat down near Mickey’s Star Traders and tried to reach them. I didn’t have any success, but while I was trying, I kept hearing the narrator for the PeopleMover talking about Mickey’s Star Traders.

“That’s right! It’s OUT of this WORLD! haHA!”

OVER AND OVER. Okay, enough of that! Let’s move on to Fantasyland!

Continued in Next Update

Woo hoo! Adventures in Tomorrowland!

I actually really enjoy Stitch's Great Escape for some reason. I love the music they play in the entry area. I have that on my iPod and it always reminds me of my first trip to Disney. :goodvibes Although the burping part makes me gag because I feel like that smell gets stuck in my hair.

Sure you didn't mean next to the Spanish-speaking 20 somethings. Sure. I hear ya. Looooud and clear...*ahem* ;)

Haha I love that everyone had a meltdown. I always love watching people meltdown on It's Tough To Be a Bug when the spiders come out of the ceiling. People are screaming so loudly I feel like I've stepped into a horror movie.

Okay, confession time...I've been to Disney World 9 times and I still haven't done the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. I know, right? I don't know what's wrong with me. I just always skip it.

Haha poor Lucaaaas! That's so cute though!

The Carousel of Progress is such a train wreck, and for that I freaking adore it. :goodvibes I love the "futuristic" version where they're all still wearing clothes straight from the 90s.

Oooh, Tomorrowland at night is probably my favorite time of day/area of MK! I LOVE it! I could just sit there and listen to the music and watch the Peoplemover go by and be perfectly content!

I've never done the Stitch ride, I'm too nervous! I'm not normally scared on rides, but this one sounds like it would be terrifying for some reason! Haha, those Spanish guys sound hysterical! I love when people are really into rides, it makes it so much more fun!

Another thing I've never done...the Monsters Inc. Laugh thing. I've never seen Monsters Inc...I know, I know, I'm ashamed. I'm a bad DISer. :sad2: Geez, I need to get on Twitter so you can remind me to get a Mickey bar AND watch Monsters Inc. so I can do this Laugh Floor thing...it sounds cute, I just never bothered because I didn't see the movie!

I LOVE the Carousel of Progress! LOVE IT!!! It's just so awful, but it's so amazing at the same time! :yay:

Hahaha Tomorrowland sounds like it was pretty ridiculous that night!! Glad you had such good ride timing! I've definitely had the moment of "the next ride I come across had better have seats because I am not walking 5 more steps!" before! :rotfl:

I like Stitch's Great Escape too, but the family doesn't so I've only been in it once, but it sounds like you had a great time! It's very much like ITTBAB, surprises everywhere!

The Laugh Floor is a must, and Kadence always makes me do the ROZ voice, which I'm proud to say I have it nailed!

YAY, also for your friend making it though Idol, and placing 3rd! That's huge!

That's so awesome that Ryan won his round of AI! I wouldn't consider you a bad friend for missing it, don't worry. I would have understood. :goodvibes

I actually like Stitch's Great Escape. I don't think it's so bad. I mean, I know it's not for everyone, but you're right. I think you have to put it in perspective like you said.

YEAH!!!

Haha I do too! I'm glad it's not just me. Aww that's cute! I don't think I even know what music they play... I don't think I'm ever in the line long enough to hear it! Believe it or not, there was no burp this time! It was just a lot of scampering and bouncing and people screaming in terror... but no burp! But you're right, that thing was nasty.

Haha, nope. Not on purpose at all. (Okay, you caught me...)

I LOVE IT TOO! YES, exactly like ITTBAB!!! Omg. Maybe that's why I love that one so much. Because if there was a blue alien bouncing and burping on me in real life, I'd freak out. If there were large spiders coming at my head in real life, I'd freak out a lot. I'm immune to it on these attractions though. LOVE IT!!!!

Awww you should go to the Laugh Floor! It's really cute! And it really is funny! Hahha LUCAAAAS was a trooper!

Hahah YES! And Patricia's all like, "eww grampa, yall were so stupid back then... you didn't even have CAR PHONES." HAHAHA! THE HORROR!!!

Oooh, Tomorrowland at night is probably my favorite time of day/area of MK! I LOVE it! I could just sit there and listen to the music and watch the Peoplemover go by and be perfectly content!

Yeah! I'm glad you get what I'm talking about! I love it!

Hahah you can do it! And if you hate it, you never have to do it again! If you do it though, make sure you sit up really high when they're lowering the shoulder harnesses. Hahaha the Spanish guys were CRACKING ME UP. Oh it was all so funny!

You must you must you must see Monsters Inc!! I love that movie! Honestly, I think you'd love it! Then you'd have a perfect excuse to go to the Laugh Floor! AND YES YOU SHOULD GET A TWITTER!!! Please!

Hahah that's exactly how I feel about it! It's just such high quality entertainment!

I'm just laughing so much over here. Between stitch and lucaaaas.... LOL SO FUNNY. :lmao:

Hahah thank you! Glad you think so!! Let me tell you that was a funny night!

Hahaha Tomorrowland sounds like it was pretty ridiculous that night!! Glad you had such good ride timing! I've definitely had the moment of "the next ride I come across had better have seats because I am not walking 5 more steps!" before! :rotfl:

It really was!!! :rotfl: Oh yeah, I know what you mean! That poor lady, I hope she ended up making it to Cosmic Ray's in a decent amount of steps before her feet gave out on her!

I like Stitch's Great Escape too, but the family doesn't so I've only been in it once, but it sounds like you had a great time! It's very much like ITTBAB, surprises everywhere!

Hahahah that's awesome! Oh Roz. She has such a lovely voice. I'm sure you do an awesome job!

Yeah, thanks! It was awesome! I wish I could have seen it!

I know! It really was! Aww, well thank you!

I'm glad I'm not alone here! Yeah, I think some people might not like that Stitch looks bad, which I totally get, but I just remember that he's a really good little cartoon alien now. :thumbsup2 Hahah.
