You can ride TT or Soarin but not both...agghh!

Currently only the first group has to hold FP in order for both groups to go through the FP line (one with swap, one with FP). The swap pass does not get 6 people in though, it gets in 3. Disney's site states 2 people only, but it's reported that 3 is still the rule in the parks.

Really? That would be fabulous! On f2f he other thread the OP said she called Disney and the CM said both people needed an FP .... then agai their is the whole depends which CM you speak to

If Disney were really concerned about everybody getting their fair share of rides, there wouldn't be an entrance fee.

huh? a lower ticket price would make things worse. free would turn it into a "tragedy of the commons". This is economics 101.

Hahahahaha....great suggestion! A nice marguerita would definitely help the looooong wait!

Not if your'e like me. as soon as you hit the line after the margarita, you'd have to pee. then get out of the line, and heaven forbid you have to leave the line to run to the restroom while your partner holds you place.

seriously, though, the tiered fast pass system is very limiting. now we get to choose: do we want to fast pass Imagination? or do we want to fast pass Captain EO. sweet.

:rotfl:

Or maybe you go to a breakfast buffet and tell your kids they can't have seconds (even though you paid for an "all you can eat" buffet) in case the people sleeping in decide to wake up and come.

This is either a joke or a very poor analogy. Because I can't read minds I don't know which it is.

They could change it at any minute, but the most recent reports have been that you don't need to hold a FP and a RS pass. That's how it has always been, but of course it's even more beneficial now because of tiers, so nobody knows if it will stick around.

You must have missed my post. I'll ask again.

According to what you've said about your wings at a buffet example, you are all about equality, even for children who are not your own. After your children have been to Disney once, do you not allow them to visit again, instead taking other children in their place who haven't been in the name of equality? If not, how could you not apply equality to all children, not just your own?

wings at a buffet is not my example. a restaurant isn't going to care if they make too many wings, because they are cheap and plentiful, and they can be used for something else the next day

if a wing cost millions of dollars to make and has to be thrown away when the restaurant closed, they would try to make just enough, in which case we could actually discuss it.

because the wings example was so stupid, I changed it to point out if it is your own kids, you are certainly going to share. So why not share when it isn't your kids?

If Disney were really concerned about everybody getting their fair share of rides, there wouldn't be an entrance fee. No, this is all about managing increasing crowds with limited FP+ availability.

I'd almost prefer they do away with FP altogether, and put EVERYBODY back on equal footing. You decide when you want to ride, and then you get in line -- the same line as everybody else -- and wait your stinkin' turn.

I totally agree. We do not mind waiting for up to 60 mins per ride. We have to wait at our local amusement park. If we cannot ride a certain ride, then we move on. No big issue for us. There are plenty of others things to see and do. Last time, we couldn't do test track because it was raining and yet our world did not fall apart and we kept on going :) That is just me though!

I absolutely am a rope drop person and am not crazy about the limited and tiered fastpass plus program.

I don't like being limited to picking between the tiers. I understand why Disney has it this way but on the oldN system, I never had to wait in line. Now, yes, I will run at the rope drop and avoid the lines but not in the afternoon.

Also, now I am paying for a hopper but can't split my palty 3 passes between parks?

Your last paragraph is exactly why I asked the question I did. There is absolutely a difference with equality between your own children and equality between your children and other children when it comes to something you are paying for. It's silly to pretend there isn't. I think you'd be very hard pressed to find parents who treat other children exactly like their own when they are paying for something. Of course there are some out there, but absolutely not the norm.

I will ask again, do you disallow your children for participating in something you've paid for if they've experienced it before for the sake of other children? You keep avoiding the question, so I suspect the answer is no. That's my point. Nobody here is keeping their children home from Disney to take random children who have never been. Nobody here avoids making ADRs to a place they have been before in the name of equality. Nobody here avoids booking popular resort options to save them for people who have never experienced them. Nobody here keeps their children out of character lines just because they've met the characters before so other children can wait instead. Nobody here makes their children stand in the back of the crowd to watch a parade because they've seen it before. Should I keep going? We all treat our children differently than children we don't know in those situations, why is it suddenly awful when people let their children ride on an attraction twice? Why are we not applying the same equality logic to absolutely everything in WDW?

I would choose test track if I had to choose. It recently got an upgrade and it it just like new and approved. :thumbsup2

Great minds think alike! I was thinking of t hat to but I read on another thread that both people participating in rider swap (ie parents) have to have an FP for the ride.

YMMV on this. In the past I have had some CMs who would not let us use the FP line when child swapping unless we all had FP. It happened twice to me, once on Soarin and once on EE.

I know for a fact some people run and shove and push. I experienced it first hand.

I have never seen it in all my years of going to WDW, sorry that happened to you.
You just have a different opinion of equality than I do.

Equality is giving everyone the same opportunity to take advantage of something. Whether they take advantage or not is their choice. You conveniently ignored the rest of my post, but what I asked was what's stopping any other wing eaters from getting up and getting the wings too? Nothing, except their decision not to. Once you pay, the rules of a Disney buffet states that you can eat anything you choose to. There is nothing disallowing people from eating multiples of an item in the name of fairness.

If you are truly for equality, do you believe in leaving your children at home for any consecutive Disney vacations past their first, and taking other children who have never been in their place? After all, equality shouldn't end just because it isn't your kids.

:thumbsup2 Yes I hope you(DividedSky) plan on standing back and allowing all first time visitors ahead of you, and make sure the get to eat at Chef Mickey or Ohana before you.

it is the most relevant question of all.

unless disney creates more rides that disperse the crowd, this is a better policy for sharing limited resources amongst park guests.

those that hate it hate it because they found a way to increase their ride capability at the expense of someone else.

you can justify it all you want, but the old dog eat dog legacy fast pass policy is over.

And yet you refuse to acknowlege that is not...it is still NOT equal or fair, or any of those words if you are not able to book at 60 days, dont own a computer, are out of the country, or stay offsite.

and now everyone has a better chance of pulling a fast pass on a hot ticket ride.

yay!!!!!

Once again only is you dont fall into the categories above, then your chances are greatly diminished. I am sure you are "all for" this "equality" bc it beneifts your way of touring, not that is is truly "fair"

Test track line usually moves faster than soarin IMO.

Test track, if it doesn't break down , moves people through faster. Soarin takes as long as it takes the movie to play.....

Looks like the current price for a one-day Epcot ticket with tax is $95.85

Regardless of how many people buy a one-day ticket, that is the price.

Seems like an awful lot to pay for one headliner FP.

I've seen other entities with attractions charge a different admission price if you just wanted to walk around. Epcot seems like the kind of park that could support that. Maybe $45 for a one-day ticket that allows you to walk around and spend more money but doesn't give you admittance to any "rides". All they would need to do for that is put readers on SB lines as well.

And I'll just say this: If I'm at a buffet and there are only two chicken wings left, you best get out of my way.
