Ok, we were a SCARED that we would be stuck in the blazing heat for decades, even at rope drop today for the Mine Train. Our luck so far hadn't been good, so why would it be now. 2 days so far on trip & Mine Train down both times (had FPs) so had to substitute another ride for FP. So try a ride with no FP?....YIKES!!!!!

We did it!!! Get there before rope drop and beeline it right for the train. Got on in 10 mins flat without having to flatten anyone along the way ;)

We knew what to expect and loved it. Kids 12 & 9 loved it, and my hubby (the thrill seeker) declared it his favorite ride of all the parks. of course, I loved it too, but I'm a Disney nut and love everything Disney :)

Glad it worked out for you! Better luck for the remainder of your trip. :goodvibes

We made it on the second train of the morning! We lined up at the right entrance before rope drop during the morning show. once over we were walked down Main Street behind a rope and CMs. Stay as far right as possible. Right infront of the castle they split the rope in two so continue following the rope to the right toward the tea cups. (Cosmic rays is on your right, Cheshire cafe on your left) As you near the ride they have you hug the attraction's wall to funnel everyone into the cue. The jewel game, spinning barrels, and musical water fountain are all not functioning to play with as to make sure the line keeps going. DH and I enjoyed the ride. it is faster then everyone seems to be saying it is. It is milder then BTMRR but the drops give it enough excitement to keep it fun but not wild.

Thanks for the info-we are going on this trip as the first
Day Of DH's Retirement!!!!:cool1:

I want to do this at rope drop!:)

I am hoping to do this in two weeks as I fell asleep on the job of getting our fastpasses.

What time did you get to rope drop? Were you at the front of the line at the ticket entrance?

We were there at 7:30am. When we got in we waited at the front of the right side enterance. We even got to see the family get picked for the morning show! The CM came to our tapstyle side looked thru the crowed walked to the other side and found a family of four all in white shirts. As it was just DH and I she didn't even consider us even with us being first in line and in matching shirts.

I would definitely think you needed to get there atleast 30 min before park opening. When we went in May before the ride was operating even... we had a slight bus issue and got to the park right as the opening show was ending, we were pretty far back in the lines for entrance turnstiles so it was frustrating. It probably took us 15 min to navigate through so we weren't in the "behind the walking rope" group. It was fine because there was no 7DMC at that point and we walked right on Buzz twice. But with 7DMC as your goal I would say be there EARLY!! :goodvibes

We hope to be able to ride getting there before rope drop! We do not have fast passes bc we just decided to go on the trip Thursday:cool1: and we will be there July 2nd to the 7th...I know...busiest time of summer!

Glad you had better luck than we did! We went on 06/10, got there way before opening, and ran straight for the train. By the time we got there, the line was 60 minutes long! We skipped :(

We werd there the 9-17th and only got 2 FP's the last 2 days of the trip. What worked real nice was hitting 7DMT right at closing it would be a 20-30 min wait and by the time you got off the park was practically empty no crowd to mess with leaving. As long as the que is open you can ride it even if the wait goes passed closing time which I never knew lol

We did not go through the castle since it bottlenecks there like crazy. Went to the right of castle over the bridge. Crowd levels are very high too, so was shocked. I have to say, be there before park opening if you plan to do this though. By the time we exited the ride, the queue was almost full and wait time was an actual 60 mins.

They posted 80 mins to start, but when we asked as we were entering the line (line was moving fast), they explained when queue fills up soon, that will be the actual wait time. But made it through in no time!!! Felt horrible for the people standing in the heat for 90 mins though :(

We were at MK this past Tuesday. We were staying offsite (first time!), but still made it to see the Welcome Show, though we were back toward the gates. We went straight up Main St, hooked right, went by the teacups, and got in line. The line looked to be pretty long at first, but keep in mind it wasn't 'open' yet. Once 9:00 hit and the line really 'opened', things moved pretty quickly. We were on the train in about 20 mins, which I don't think was bad at all.

Good luck!

Will we be able to do this after an 8:05 Crystal Palace ADR? 9am RD day?

We are just back from our trip - we had CRT breakfast at 8:05 on 6/20. We had FP fo SDMT, so we did not have to rush there, but we probably would have been one of the first people to ride it if we wanted to. After breakfast you are at the first rope to Fantasyland - there were very few people there at 8:50. CMs let that first rope go few seconds before the CMs holding the main rope and everyone else reached that point. So early breakfast people had maybe 30 seconds advantage over everyone else - probably enough time to get to SFMT or A&E before the crowds. We went the opposite way to PPF and were first to ride it.

Thanks for the first hand account. I hope we can do it. We're staying offsite for the first time so I don't know if we'll be able to get the FP+ for it. I hope we can make it at RD if we don't get the FP+. :)

If you arrive at breakfast early and I think you'll be ok, just try to wrap up and have it paid for by 8:45. Not sure if they'll let you get seated any earlier than 8:00, but I *believe* they'll take you in the order you've checked in as long as it's reasonably close to your reservation time.

I bet as the hoopla around the Mine Train winds down after the summer, it won't be such a challenge at RD though and will be on par with the other top attractions. Good luck :goodvibes

Any tips for making it to the opening show while staying offsite??
